I've been lookinf around for the big day and you lot are a motivated bunch aren't you!

I'm not going on a frenzy before 2009, but know I won't make commitment beforehand.

Is there anyone else waiting for the new year?

If so, what method are you thinking of using?

No cheating here undervalued, everyone just finding their own way, so welcome.

Bessie - the dvds are great cos they are little 10 min routines and they have a learn the move sessions before hand and they just slot in nicely. The routine is repeated 2-3 times so you dont have to learn too many moves. I mix and match as I like the warm up (which is more like a mini workout) on one dvd and prefer the actual routines on another. I find that I dont get bored cos each routine is only short and i do a fast one like salsa then something like a rumba and the bits i cant do i just do the previous move until i get it.

Wintersun · 02/01/2009 16:20

Not cheating, Undervalued. I don't know much about it, but I'm sure its still hard to do.
We're all here for a kick start

So far so good today. I have stuck to healthy eating as I still haven't got all my stuff for my LBD diet. I think I'll go to the supermarket tonight.

I have had

small bowl of muesli and yoghurt for breakfast
Home made veggie soup, 1 slice of bread, 3 ryvitas for lunch
banana and 1/2 glass of oj for a snack

dinner will be a bit of chicken, steamed veg, small portion of brown rice.

I've also been on a long walk.

Cheers Wintersun and mixwdmama - I start on Thursday so am trying to prepare by cutting carbs.
Wintersun - what a great start! well done.

tessieb · 02/01/2009 16:40

I've decided to start on Sunday, as still got too many goodies in the house to eat up!

I got out some old photo albums today and found pictures of myself when I was 20/21 and I was SO slim then. So, definately need to lose 3 stone!!!

Wintersun · 02/01/2009 16:46

Thanks am feeling quite pleased.

My danger time is the evening though so I've got some herbal tea, lychees and grapes to snack on later, if I feel the need.
Its not as nice as chocolate or cheese and crackers but it'll have to do

I am v. determined to do this. I'm sick of looking like this and all my nice clothes feeling tight.

mixedmama · 02/01/2009 16:58

tessieb - i have a book with pics of me slim, i have stuck them throughout and i write in it when i put the pics in wrote how i felt about them and my current feelings. I still go back to it and look at the pics and what i wrote and when i read what i wrote ity really motivates me as i was really depressed about the weight when i wrote those things.... works for me.

countessofmontecristo · 02/01/2009 19:05

I was going to start today, but ended up visiting family who'd laid on a huge meal for us! So, will start on Monday.

I find evenings the worst time for snacking. I can be really good all day long but once I get LO off to bed, then I start thinking about food. I plan on doing excercise dvd once I've put him to bed, and I'm going to try not to have any rubbish in the house to eat.

I am determined not to be fat for Summer.I want to wear t shirts and shorts and not look horrendous. I also want to feel I can smile when I have a photo taken of me instead of sitting breathing in and sucking my cheeks in. ( both sets!)

tessieb · 02/01/2009 19:36

Mixedmama - it's helped motivate me too. I can remember back then once reaching almost 9 stone and feeling fat (I am only 5'2) and watching what I ate and exercising more to get back to just over 8 stone. Now I think 9 stone would be a fantastic weight to be [whispers - I have never ever been so heavy before and must lose at least 2 stone, preferably 3!!!]

mixedmama · 02/01/2009 20:25

tessie - its is like we are the same person. I am also 5,2 and was always 8-8 and a half stone. Went to ten after DS1 and hit 11st 12 when i joined ww in April. Am now 10 stone and feel really good but would like to get to 8 and a half and then happy to float between that and 9 stone.

tessieb · 02/01/2009 20:48

mixedmama - we do sound similar. I was around 10 to 10 and a half stone for a few years, but I've been rapidly expanding over the last year or so. I got weighed the other day and - this is highly confidential, will not admit it to anyone else - am now [whispers] 12 stone!!!!!!!

We'll have to keep motivating each other. It would be so nice to be 9 stone again.

Wintersun · 02/01/2009 20:53

Hello mixedmama and tessieb. Can I join your 5'2" gang?
I've always been a size 8-10 and have been around 9 stones.
I hit 12st 7lbs after ds2 and am currently 10st 13lbs. I would love love love to be 9 stone again.

tibni · 02/01/2009 21:06

Thanks for the welcome. I went to the gym today and did my full work out - 1st time since viral infection. I am feeling my muscles tonight but it was ok.

Food wise I have stopped the rubbish and am thinking about getting a decent protein balance (veggie).

Hope you are all doing ok.

tessieb · 02/01/2009 21:20

tibni - well done for managing to get to the gym (that's what I need, exercise!)

Wintersun - well done for getting under 11 stone. I'm sure you'll get back to under 9 stone if you keep trying. I think when you are only 5'2, any extra weight really shows. Then again, any weightloss should show quickly, too!

Good luck everyone. I've already mentioned that I'm not starting till Sunday, but will need lots of encouragement to keep going!

mixedmama · 03/01/2009 07:48

Morning all

The last few days I have actually managed to pack in quite abit of exercise, and I cant remember who it was that said exercise can make you feel as relaxed as a bath but wanted to just say YOU WERE SO RIGHT, felt really good afterwards, so those are my motivational words today - once you start u will actually feel good. So glad I hav found a workout that works for me.

Well done on the gym tbini.

I dont officially start until Monday but am really getting into the frame of mind now.

Wintersun · 03/01/2009 09:21

Mixedmama well done on the exercise. I agree that you do feel really good afterwards.

Tessieb you're right about the weight showing. I'm sure once you start, you can get down to weight you want too . We'll all keep each other going and giving kicks up backsides

tibni have you decided on a plan?

I start my LBD diet officilly today. It is going to be a very boring food day for me today.

Breakfast is 1/2 a melon
lunch is veggie soup with a brown rice salad
dinner is salad, mixed veg and a can of canneloni beans. Er yum.

What exercise is everyone doing?
I am walking more and doing a dvd 4 times a week.

meant cannellini beans of course. Must have been dreaming of yummy pasta (and spelling it wrong)

Wintersun · 03/01/2009 09:49

Sorry to hear about your ms Riven.
Do you have 'good days' and 'bad days'?

Have you tried pilates for your back? Not sure if you're able to with ms?

It's just so so easy for the weight to creep on, and so much harder to get it off!!!

Sorry to hear about your ms and bad back Riven. I guess you just have to do what you feel you can when you can. Have you tried yoga? There are different types, but if you could find a relaxation/stretching type of class it may help. I used to love yoga, but unfortunately haven't been to a class for ages. It's my new year's resolution to start going again. I find I feel so much better when I do!

Good luck with your diet Wintersun. Sounds like you're starting well. (I must confess I've just had a few pringles. Well, they were in the cupboard just asking to be eaten...!!!) I'm getting ready to start tomorrow, though. I think I may go for an early morning swim (again, something I like to do and haven't managed for ages!). I'll let you know how I go on.

MissisBoot · 03/01/2009 13:09

Hello everyone

Managed to get away without snacking on anything yesterday.

Food for today is as planned

Bfast - yoghurt
Lunch - ricecakes, ham and grapes
Dinner - roasted sea bass and rice with a chilli & mint dressing.

Am trying desperately not to snack on the leftover xmas cake!

Will try and get to the gym tomorrow morning - can't wait for dd to go back to nursery then I'll have time to actually get to the gym!

hercules1 · 03/01/2009 13:10

Can I join? Trying to stick to 1400 calories a day at the moment. Is that a good amount you think or should I lessen?

MissisBoot · 03/01/2009 13:21

I'd say 1400 is a good amount - too little and your body will go into starvation mode and you won't lose any weight.

SilentTerror · 03/01/2009 13:40

Started yesterday,want t o lose a stone,maybe bit more.
Need to cut down on wine, portion control and more exercise, which for me means walking.
Aim to reduce my calorie intake by 200 a day and walk for at least 20 mins daily.
