I've been lookinf around for the big day and you lot are a motivated bunch aren't you!

I'm not going on a frenzy before 2009, but know I won't make commitment beforehand.

Is there anyone else waiting for the new year?

If so, what method are you thinking of using?

Afternoon all..

Well had a bit of an indulgent day yesterday what with v day... made the mistake of having chips for lunch but was very good for dinner I feel as I had stuffed aubergines which were sublime, but grilled quails for my main... my absolute fave meat ever bar none.

Had intended to get straight back on it all today cut up my fruit for brekkie and then had about choc digestives 2 points each and I am allowed 17 points altogether

will do some biking etc as i am really finding that i am enjoyign exercise for the first time in my whole life.

Well doen everyone.. and tessie dont worry about putting it on this week is a new week.. it happens. get back up there. i wish we all lived near each other we could all go power waliign with buggies in the park

you know what we should do... organise one day where we all agree to go for an X mile walk at the same time and then see how many miles we can clock up between us all.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 15/02/2009 14:09

LLL - u know you have these things coming up so is it possible to try to plan for them in advance rather than make up for them after iyswim. So the week of your bday plans loads of exercise sessions... when you make plans for your bday pick somewhere where you can chose healthier options like grills or something. Dont eat bread that week, be extra good abotu what you do eat even if it means eating different to everyone else so you blow out wont seem so bad. I always find it difficult to claw it back after the occasion.

tessieb · 15/02/2009 14:18

I've just joined weightlossresources.co.uk to see if this will help me to be more motivated. I used the site a couple of years ago and lost around a stone (which has slowly but surely crept back on, plus another!)

Lisa, I know how you feel as the scales are moving the wrong way for me too. We'll both have to make a big effort. Spring is on it's way, and I keep thinking of all the summer clothes I bought nearly 2 years ago which I want to be able to wear.

Mixedmama, the odd indulgent day is fine (just I have been having more than the odd one!). Glad you are enjoying exercising so much, think of all the calories you are using. I like your walk idea.

Banana, enjoy swimming, and hope the hangover has gone. Must have been a good night!

Polly, loose jeans - that's good news. I'm sure you'll be into your pre-pregnancy clothes in no time.

I find that when I start losing weight, for some reason I stop being 'good' and the weight piles back on. Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just me?

Hope WLR will help me stay on track this time.

countesscaloriecounter · 15/02/2009 17:04

Tessieb I am exactly the same as you when I lose weight. It's like a green light to go and eat rubbish as a reward.

I'm trying really hard, but I'm in the house alone with my 1 year old. DH and foster kids are in Gibraltar until Thursay, and it's very tempting in the evening to go and raid the fridge and cupboards, but so far I've managed to resist. I've been on long walks during the day with LO and in the evening when feeling tempted have hopped on the exercise bike, but, like many of you I'm finding it a struggle.

The only thing keeping me going is that I don't want to spend another summer embarassed with how I look, and I've heard the rumour that it's going to be a hot summer so I want to wear nice light clothes and FEEL GOOD!

tessieb · 15/02/2009 18:08

Oooh fab - a hot summer is just what we need! If I don't lose some weight I'll be struggling for things to wear - and I don't want to buy new things in a bigger size.

This summer I want to look and feel good too, Countess. Good for you using the exercise bike and going for walks instead of nibbling.

LisaLessLumpy · 15/02/2009 20:02

Its bloody half term for ds1 so can't go off into the barn on the XT in the day, I should be able to do Davina though so I am going to make a concerted effort to do the DVD at 'least' 3 times this week and also at least 2 XT sessions. I'm not going to weigh in this week because if I haven't lost what I have put on it will hinder me the following week. I am going to leave weigh in till the 27th Feb and try and do as much exercise as I can.

Arg! I don't drink, or at least i haven't for the past two years. So why is wine and pasta creeping into my diet???
Sabotage! That's what i say. And noone to blame but myself.

OK. Drawn a line. No more of this faffing around. Shall listen to the Pmk on overdrive this week! This is my offweek for weigh in, so i have a week to make good.

Ooh - i hope i'm glad you've heard it's a nice summer coming up, Countess! We'll all be able to show off our lovely lean arms and legs!

Lots of thin thinking for you lovely ladies for the coming week.

LisaLessLumpy · 16/02/2009 08:24

Thought I would weigh myself this morning, to shock myself into being good this week, I am showing 11st 7lb again same as I was on week 2 or the sake of two weekends I have ruined 6 weeks of work, how stupid am I.

RIGHT I WILL BE EVERY GOOD THIS WEEK AND NEXT AND WILL GET BACK DOWN TO 11ST BEFORE THE END OF MARCH!!!

countesscaloriecounter · 16/02/2009 08:33

I think those of us who are sruggling should all start today as a fresh start. In varying degrees most of us have lost focus, and maybe without realising it are not beng as strict with ourselves as at the start. That's true in my case anyway. I wonder why I'm not losing weight at the rate I expected to, and if I look at what I've eaten, although I haven't gone overboard (except on a couple of occasions ) it's still been more than I should be eating.

BACK ON TRACK TODAY!!!

PollyGarter · 16/02/2009 09:06

Too true Countess!

Back on track!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 16/02/2009 09:13

am with you countess

tessieb · 16/02/2009 09:23

Same here, really need to get back on track.

I'm currently on a 24 hour free trial with weightlossresources.co.uk. It's a fantastic site and I think it will help me regain focus and control portion sizes (I weighed a pasta serving last night, was having far too much before!). I think I will pay for a months membership and see how I get on. I have used it before a couple of years ago and lost over a stone, but had computer problems so had to stop using it!

Good luck everyone.

bananapaddlepop · 16/02/2009 10:46

another one with you countess. i have been lazy with my discipline and really need a sharp kick up the backside. I'm eating too much bread, and haven't been filling my points (ww) sheet in. I've been roughly on track, except the weekend, but need to keep myself on a tighter rein.

I'm going to cook some soup and try and have that for lunch each day

Good luck everyone...

countesscaloriecounter · 16/02/2009 11:09

Just been out for a walk pushing DS in his buggy and finished the walk by going into town and bumped into someone I hadn't seen for about 3 months and the first thing she said to me was 'Wow, haven't you lost weight!'

Needless to say I am thrilled by the comment and spurred on to keep going.

Good to hear that we are all re focusing. Good luck everone!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 16/02/2009 13:26

Am thinking of moving to slimming world for the last stone/stone and a half... dont really want to go to meetings as i have a language class on tues and bellydance on wed.. would rather not add another night.

I am thinking of going tomorrow to get all the books etc... but wont be able to committ to going... anyone done it before and able to point me in the right direction.

countesscaloriecounter · 16/02/2009 14:57

Sorry Mixedmama, I don't know anything about SW.

I think there's a thread on it on here somewhere and someone might be able to help you from that?

SilentTerror · 16/02/2009 20:30

Feeling bad too!
No movement at all on 10st 8.Have put on,not lost!
Not exercised as much as I should,or even could.
like Lisa had a greedy weekend,meal out,wine,chocolate.
Need to lose another 9 or 10 pounds,if not more.
have done it before by portion control,no alcohol and exercise.
Need to get t ough!

tessieb · 16/02/2009 20:31

Really liking the WLR site. I've just paid for a month to see how I go. Why don't you come and have a look with the free trial? (Not on commission, honest!)

Wintersun · 16/02/2009 20:49

I think we're all affected by the recent weather. Once the days start getting a bit brighter, I'm sure we'll all be dropping those lbs

Spring is just around the corner. It will be time to start putting our big coats away.

I actually had an ok weekend for food. We got a takeaway on Sat eve but I didn't overdo it.

Today has been ok too.

Is WLR better than foodfocus?

PollyGarter · 16/02/2009 20:57

Glad you're liking the WLR tessieb... i think i'll take a sneak peak at it tomorrow, if i get a break.

Aw mixedmama, are you defecting to SWthread? Who will Wintersun compare bellydance notes with? Who will get us walking in the mumsnet marathon to the moon?? eh!?

Silent Terror, i think it's some sort of parallel universe quantum phenomenon has taken place; where the pull of gravity has slightly altered, thus messing with all the scales in mumsnet rl. It's true, you know.

Banana, hope you're enjoying that soup. You've inspired me and I'm going to make a batch tonight too.

Countess, you know you are keeping me from going over the cream pastry edge today... big thanks.

PollyGarter · 16/02/2009 21:01

Oh there you are Wintersun... it takes me years to post anything these days. Big coats away is a Very Good Thing... i will emerge more like a butterfly than a sausage from it's casing, i will...!

tessieb · 17/02/2009 09:38

A fantastic idea from a lady using WLR, just had to share it with you. She bought a pound of lard, wrapped it it cling film and keeps it in her fridge just to remind herself what a pound of fat actually looks like and how heavy it is. So, if she feels she is slipping, she can use it to remind herself of what she has achieved so far.

I think it is too easy to feel despondent and think we've 'only' lost half a pound or a pound, but seeing what is actually is could help. Think I may try this one!

Wintersun, I only had a quick look at Food Focus and didn't really use it. I do like WLR and (at the moment) it is keeping me on track. I know that I can eat whatever I want as long as I log it in the food diary and keep within the calorie allowance. I can also add any exercise 'earning' me extra cals! There is lots of information and articles to read, plus forums. I'll let you know how I get on. I needed to do something else as it just wasn't working when I tried to lose weight by myself.

Anyway, the weather is definately getting warmer, spring is in the air. Just think how gorgeous and slender we will all look in our summer clothes.

PollyGarter · 17/02/2009 09:57

walking today... yes... much walking in order!

Have a great day all!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 17/02/2009 09:58

MOrning all...

Will not defect am here for the duration, just thinking about changing my approach a little. cant get rid of me that easily.

like the pound of lard idea.. i think that it is really useful to see what a lb actually is.

have started well today and fingers crossed that i stick to it.

I am having a meat day today so have to limit my carbs.. had a wholemeal pitta for brekkie so am planning to not have anymore carbs .. not sure how successful that will be.

LisaLessLumpy · 17/02/2009 11:58

Morning ladies

I had a good day yesterday which has spurred me on today. Didn't exercise as such yesterday but took ds1 swimming and then was out last night. I am hoping to do Davina tonight as DH is out, so as long as boys go to bed well I have no excuses not to. I already feel better after having a fruit and salad day yesterday
