Does anyone want to play? I'm 5'8, roughly 10 st 6lbs. Suspect possibly a couple of lbs more but refuse to get on the scales at night! Am at my best at about 9 st 7 lbs. Want to lose the weight by healthy sensible eating and plenty of exercise. Does anyone want to join in? Don't really want to crash anyone else's thread!

Pindy, of course I'll try it - I'll try anything! . Is black tea cheating, then?

Just seems that drinking warm water must be the ultimate in weight loss control (bleaughhhh).......

By the way, how often are we all going to weigh ourselves?

Bearess · 11/03/2005 10:56

prettybird welcome. I think we should weigh once a week on Fridays - everyone up for that? have to do a cross face now as ds sitting on desk and wants to see a "red face"

OP posts:
Prettybird · 11/03/2005 10:59

Just for today, why not think of the "red faces" as "red noses"

Bearess · 11/03/2005 11:01

Reethi · 11/03/2005 11:25

Forgot to say my ultimate goal is 7.7 (by 26th August) but I am giving myself little goals to stay motivated, first one is to be 9st by 1st April.

Good lu7ck everyone!

pindy · 11/03/2005 14:18

Yep Good Luck Everyone.

Friday weigh in is good for me.

turquoise · 11/03/2005 14:47

Just weighed in : 9 st 8 of pure flab. Would like to lose at least the 8 pounds.
Thomcat - another resounding yes please for that stir fry recipe!
Carla - try green tea rather than black, or warm water. Jasmine flavour is lovely once you're used to it, and it's supposed to be very good for you.

ThomCat · 11/03/2005 18:46

Sorry here I am
Right, Garlic Prawn Stir-fry (a main course for 2)

Ingediants
2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons chopped fresh ginger
6 garlic cloves, crushed
several drops hot pepper sauce
4 tablespoons sesame oil
sliced yellow onion
a red pepper sliced
approx 350g prawns
225g mange tout
2 tablespoons cashews
(and I threw in a bag on vegetables for stir frys as well, one of thise bags with the lettuce and a few beanshoots etc)

Combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic and the hot sauce in a bowl.

Make sure all veg is chopped & ready to go.

Heat sesame oil in a wok over high heat

Add onion & red pepper, stir fry for about 2-3 mins

Add prawns, mange tout and any other veg you are adding, stir fry for 2 mins

Add cashew nuts and sauce and continue to stirfry, tossing all the time for about another 2 mins

Serve.

ThomCat · 11/03/2005 18:55

Here's another one I had this week that was lovely:

Asian Ginger Salmon

Olive oil spray
2 salmon fillets
3 tablespoons low sodium saoy sauce
3 table spoons water
2 tablespoons chopped fresg ginger

broccoli
sesame seeds

Put steamer on and put oven on to warm

In a bowl combine say sauce, water & ginger

Heat oil in wok, and brown salmon on both sides, when browned saute for 5 mins or so.

Start steaming broccoli and any other veg you might fancy like baby sweet corn etc

remove salmon from wok and replace with the contents of bowl

Put salmon back in wok skin side up so salmon takes on all juices.

Put everything on plates except broccoli and keep warm in oven.

Chuck broccoli in wok with the sesame seed and saute for 3 mins or so.

serve

thomcat - they sound fab... will be trying them tomorrow... trouble is they sound like they would be even better with a couple of glasses of wine... and there is the start of the slippery slope!!

nightowl · 11/03/2005 21:06

well ive been busy all day and didnt have time to eat until an hour ago (i know, its a bad start). i had to go get some work clothes this afternoon and had to buy a lot of size 14..6 years ago i was size 8. also had to buy a new bra and found out i am now a 36E. i came back and had a small portion of pork with some herbs and a big salad. i havent weighed myself yet but am going to put baby to bed just now and then do it. last week i was 10st 7lb so am dreading it!

Bearess · 11/03/2005 22:02

I started dieting a few Weeks back, and when I started I was 11stone 9. I am a size 12 jeans/skirt and size 14 top atm.

I am 11 stone 5 now (though have put a pound on this Week) as I said on an earlier post, I have started slipping back into bad habbits.

My goal weight is 10 and a half stone. Sounds quiet heavy I suppose, but I am tall and big built- any less than that and I look tooo thin!

Ok today -
I slice of brown granary bread with low fat spread.
Half a wagon wheel that DS didn't finish.*(tut tut)
A cup of soup (the ones with noodles in)
An apple and a plumb.
Tuna salad.
Half a packet of mints.
Two cups of tea, six glasses of water, and a bovril to warm me up at the rugby tonight (it was bl00dy freezing!

nightowl · 12/03/2005 00:08

ive now had a sausage sandwich with two 95% fat free sausages and brown sauce.. i should just give up now shouldnt i?!! will make more effot tomorrow although this really is a lot less than i would usually eat anyway.

turquoise · 12/03/2005 02:04

Not a brilliant start for me either - finished dd's chips and had a twix.
But otherwise good:
2 weetabix with skim milk and tiny bit of sugar
Salad nicoise with artichoke hearts instead of potatoes.
Chicken breast with mushrooms and red peppers (and a bit of butter) and rice.
2 cups of black tea, 1 coffee.

nightowl · 12/03/2005 02:27

sounds ok turquoise, youre doing better than me! i will do my exersize vid tomorrow..i will!!

pindy · 12/03/2005 10:11

Only had a slice of toast so far today, with yukky spread stuff!! Kids want bacon and egg sarnies for lunch, sounds too good to miss, but I shall try really hard! promise.

Off to get some all bran and will be trying out the great recipes that have been posted, they sound goooooooooood - yum.

Excercise - yes I've heard to that - going to do some research to find out what is involved!!! ;)

Bearess · 12/03/2005 20:11

All-bran, some baguette for lunch with salad & laughing cow light in, bacon, pea & mush risotto for tea (not slimming at all!), an apple, banana, four teas, two coffees. Was going to go for a swim but am tooooo tired, zzzzzzzzzzz...
