Other thread too big.

Right, having lost not one single ounce over the last 4 weeks due to over-consumption of alcohol, I am starting again. I promised you all a new thread, so here it is.

Remeber:

Exercise EVERY DAY. walking, cycling, running, swimming - whatever - JUST MOVE YOUR HARRIS!

MEASUREMENTS can say more than weight. I have lost nothing, but mu clothes are actually looser due to toning up.

Are we up for another challenge for September?

I am giving up booze until the last weekend of September as I drank too much in July and August - so I am going to go for the 7lbs in a month again.

Well done to those who have managed to lose a bit last month!

My weigh-in day was Thursday, and I was 10.2, which was a pound down. Not what I had hoped, but better than nothing. But today is a fat day for some reason - I feel awful and can't find anything to wear that doesn't show off my tummy. Sigh.

Drinking lots of water and hoping that it will help a bit.

Brilliant progress for you Sheiky!

The problem is I have yoyo dieted for so many years I am rarely having more than 1500 cals a day (usually around the 1250 mark) and doing some exercise at least twice a week which is on top of usual running around after two boys and household chores. I eat wholemeal bread, rice and pasta, low fat spreads and skimmed milk, I eat plenty of fruit and veg.... I also snack too much (finishing off the boys stuff etc) I rarely drink alcohol either but may indulge in a takeaway every other week. Not sure there is much I can change apart from the snacking but I do tend to count those calories into my allowance though [sigh] MUST try and stop the snacking and do more exercise. If I can just get down to 11 stone I think it might get easier again, over the past 5 years I have never been able to get past the 11 stone mark. I should be able to though as I am only 5ft 3inches and apparently still at least 2 stone overweight

Hi everyone.
I have had a busy week or so. Its been one (fun) thing after another. I've had a birthday, friends birthday, dh's birthday and a girls night out so, typically, have gained a few of pounds.
I weighed at 11 stone exactly yesterday (grrr!)

Oh well. I had fun and I know that if you put it on quickly, you can lose it quickly.

Lisa - Try to reduce your carbs to a smaller portion and increase your veg and protein and try to cut right back on the bread.

Well done to everyone who lost especially Sheiky! 6lbs???!!

Right back to the hard slog. I've bought some soups so if I don't get a chance to make any, I'll have no excuse to not have healthy lunches. 1250 cals a day plus 3x exercise.

SheikYerbouti · 21/09/2008 09:03

Don't give up LIsa.

Do you drink plenty of water? Tell me more about the exercise you do and what snacks you eat. Are you getting enough sleep?> That's the killer for me.

I have just returned from swimming. My god, they are funny there. It's all old men this time of the day. I get in and they all say "'Ere she is"

On of them said to me yesterday "Watch 'im, my love" "We call 'im Speedy, coz 'e's off up that pool like a Ferarri" I did laughh to myself as I overtook "Speedy" whil;st doing v slow breaststorke

Another guy said yesterday "Oh, it's busy today. People must be worrying about the markets collapsing"

The only markets the folk in Longwell Green know anything about are the ones where you can get 5 lighters for a pound

Also Lisa, I might suggest that you are not eating enough. I know it sounds bizarre, but your body is probably in starvation mode. Try to up your intake of stuff like oily fish, avocados, nuts and seeds. Also, drizzle olive oil on salads, etc. This happened to a friend of mine., She got within a stone of her target weight and her weight plateaued for ages. Someone suggested to her she needed more fat in her diet (good fat obv) and her weight did come off.

sheiki - I have tried eating more but I put weight on I need to drink more water, I drink plenty of fluids but not enough water. I snack on bad stuff along with good stuff which is my problem, ie the kids biscuits/funsize packs of choc, pieces of toast/cake, I know I shouldn't but I do count it into my daily allowance, I then forego a proper dinner to compensate that must be where I am going wrong. I think my body needs to know what is going to happen on a daily basis and when to expect food etc. I know all this but can't seem to get the willpower to keep it up for long i get plenty of sleep at least 7 hours a night so that isn't a problem.

Jahan - I have cut down on my carbs generally but have the odd day when that is all I want

Jahan · 21/09/2008 20:29

Lol at old 'Speedy'

Now you and Lisa get yourselves over to that Biggest Loser challenge thread

I did 42 mins on the XT this morning, on the mountain setting, level 6. Cals burnt 417, miles done 3.21.

2 weetabix and a small banana for brekkie 220 cals
Vegetable soup and 2 slices of nimble bread and flora lte 300 cals

snacks hmm 3 malted milk biscuits, 1 chunk dairy milk, 1/2 bag choc buttons, 1/2 slice of toast and fl 330 cals

Dinner didn't really feel like any so have had a bowlful of strawberries and a glass of white wine 200 cals

Cup of options hot choc later 60 cals.

Total 1110

Piffle · 22/09/2008 20:33

one shredded wheat and milk
Half pot covent garden soup
3 Finn crisp crackers with low fat Philadelphia and smoked salmon.
Dried mango and six almonds
Dinner was chicken stirfry at 370cals so just had cornetto and still on 1350 cals
For me drinking is always the vice as I'm a keen cook and healthy water by nature...

Jahan · 22/09/2008 22:11

I'm still slacking on the exercise front but doing ok food wise.
I remembered to drink lots of water too.

God, my belly is so huge. I have no waist

LisaLessLumpy · 23/09/2008 07:22

I know what you mean Jahan after my csection my tummy is horrible, I can literally hold it all in my hands

Sputnik · 23/09/2008 15:38

Well I think I may be back on track, got a bit of exercise in today, and been ok food wise so far.

I may go and weigh myself tomorrow as I've missed the last 2 saturdays. I haven't been good at all really but my clothes aren't any tighter, so I'm curious.

Jahan · 23/09/2008 21:10

Ooh let us know how you go Sputnik! Sounds encouraging.

I've been good food wise today and have stuck to my cal allowance. I'm definitely going to get some exercise in tomorrow.

LisaLessLumpy · 23/09/2008 22:09

Calories today 1310 - 46 mins on XT - 450 cals burnt, 3.45 miles on mountain setting level 6. I could have done an hour so I think it is now time to start upping my levels to make it harder

Sputnik · 24/09/2008 10:29

Wow, I'm impressed LLL, those things are tough!

Well, I weighed in at about 1lb more than my pre-holiday weight, which is not bad for someone who has been mainlining peanut butter straight from the jar.

I am encouraged

well done LLL on exercise - one thing though in food diary other day you got tons of your cals from sugar and had no protein. Not good if you are exercising as it puts body into starvation mode. try hardboiled egg or soemthing or baked beans for lunchtime protein boost.

I'm eating good and drinking water no booze etc
no exercise either as groin issues from previous SPD has recurred even walking hurts
So nothing for me total rest.
weight dropping slightly each day

Sputnik · 24/09/2008 14:13

Yes Stormy, there's really bugger all to do in Venice, you poor thing

Agree with Piffle I think lll, if you're doing all that exercise you need more protein, you could risk damaging your metabolism. Also, your body needs protein after exercising to repair damaged muscle, thats how you build muscle which will in turn boost your metabolism.

Piffle sorry to hear about your spd, it's awful isn't it. Have you had any physio?

LisaLessLumpy · 24/09/2008 14:20

Good point well made, thankyou. Will endeavor to eat more protein on work out days
