BigMoFos: get your substantial arses over here for a regroup

Those of you who were only with us in spirit for our meet-up today won't know this, but we have decided to regroup with renewed vigour, mount a new offensive, and also have a rethink about what we want from the MoFos threads and how we want them to work.

We are all decided that we need the threads to continue in one form or another but we are not sure that the weekly weigh-in/new thread is the way forward. It has been suggested that we have either a monthly thread, or that we go for one of the "chat"-type threads, which we plough on with until it's full.

With regard to a weigh-in, there was some thought that we could either simply post our weights or our losses (whichever we each prefer) every week on the ongoing thread. There is a chance that the weights could get lost among the chat, though, so if we prefer we could have a separate thread where we posts weights or losses on a weekly basis so that we can keep track of our own losses (or gains). Alternatively I am happy to collect and record weights/losses/gains as before, and post them as a single post - either on the chat thread or as part of a dedicated progress thread.

This is your group, and I would like to hear how you would like it to continue so that we can go back to offering the kind of support we are all capable of offering, and which we all so badly need. Please come and tell us what you need from the threads and how you would like them to work from now on.

One thing is for sure; kicks up the arse are compulsory and will be freely given (as soon as I finish off the Mississippi Mud Pie I bought home from the meet-up today )

Hope so. Sleep well.

Hi - can I join you? I'm about 5 stone overweight, and currently at my heaviest. Not sure exactly what I weigh - I periodically get on the scales to generate willpower through shock tactics, but never actually remember the number.

I haven't got a specific goal at the moment. I haven't really actively tried to lose weight since I was a teenager. I did eat more healthily when I was pregnant, and ended up lighter after I gave birth than when I conceived - but the weight has crept back on since then. It doesn't help that, by the time DS is in bed, I really don't feel like exercising. I need to find an easy way to be more active, so I can stick at it - any suggestions?

WigWamBam · 12/09/2008 14:46

MrsJC, have you had your thyroid function checked recently? Underactive thyroid makes you feel sluggish and exhausted, piles weight on, and makes you depressed. It's very, very common after having a baby but is horribly under-diagnosed.

Missed you there, cornflake girl.

Am just off to pick dd up in a minute so don't have time to reply properly ... just didn't want you to feel you were being ignored!

Hey girls.

I'v been watching your progress. Not weighing until early next week at the GPs so will update mine then. Have been on Reductil for 8 days now and I'm getting on very well with it now. It really is working wonders to reduce my appetite. I eat smaller meals and really don't even want any snacks or chocolate. It's fab!

I'm still off the evil coca cola! I've decided to have a once a week treat of one can of full fat coke at the hockey. That way I won't bring it in to the house and can limit myself easily. The water is working wonders. My skin and hair are better already due to it and it's filling me up between meals.

How is it going for you with the Reductil Kew? Have you had any success?

PinkChick · 16/09/2008 12:44

Hi girls..just been to nurse to get weighed and have lost 4 lbs, so exactly 2 1/2 stone now..am down to 14st 4 lbs, my lowest in years!(and i mean prob 10 years!)..just want the other 4 lbs off before we go away in just under 2 weeks now!..any tips on shifting it quick for a boost??

PinkChick · 16/09/2008 12:45

Hey HP..im also on reductil..glad its working for you too

TigerFeet · 16/09/2008 12:52

Hi everyone

I like all these reductil success stories - keep up the good work

I am doing OK-ish, lots of fruit and veg and not as much rubbish and I am being a lot more active than I have been recently. I am finding the exercise very tiring though, I am trying not to overdo it but I don't feel tired until after the event iyswim - usually that evening or the following day.

I had a bit of a "moment" on Sunday - I had eaten crap all weekend and was feeling tired and sluggish because of it. We took dd for a runabout on the beach and I was just too tired to play with her. It's just so unfair on her, she had no siblings so if we go out as a family she needs parents who will run and dance and build sandcastles etc - not one who does reluctantly (dh) and one who is simply too tired.

Hey ho, onwards and upwards - it has spurred me on to eat better this week.

I am curbing the evening cravings with a cup of hot chocolate - it's full of sweeteners and other crap but it fills the gap.

Here's to a good week

hockeypuck · 16/09/2008 14:51

Hi Pink Chick - Sorry I forgot you, I knew there was someone else on reductil but thought I'd imagined it. Quite a success story you have there - well done!

4lbs to lose in 2 weeks? I recommend every time you get hungry drink a glas of water and wait 15 mins before eating, you'll eat less. That and lots of exercise!

Tigerfeet - don't beat yourself up about not being able to play this time. Just remember how much you will benefit from all this healthy eating and exercise and how much more active you will able to be with your DD this time next week/month/year with your increased fitness levels. Hot choc a good idea thanks!

PinkChick · 16/09/2008 15:44

Hi HP, no prob..im going to alos go back onto special K (kind of) plan for the next 2 weeks as well..porridge for brekky, branflakes for lunch and nice meal for dinner (lean meat, pots, veg or pasta/rice etc)..but WILL do that with water as i dont drink enough TBH

so how have you been doing yourself on the tabs?

hockeypuck · 16/09/2008 16:13

Really good pink chick. Obviously not had first weigh in yet so will see! I'm not having too many side effects with them yet though. The main one is waking early in the morning though - far too early! but otherwise it's going wel. They definitely make me feel full, I thnk I'm eating about half the calories I was before (although that doesn't say much when I was totally overdoing the calories before!).

PinkChick · 16/09/2008 16:21

well keep going it sounds like tis working well for you..when i got weighed this morn my nurse said my BP had gone down too!, so even though it wasnt high, the losing weight IS making me healthier..bonus

MrsRecycle · 19/09/2008 14:32

Kewcumber's ask me to let you know that she hasn't been avoiding you but its just this

JackieYoHoHo · 19/09/2008 18:55
