February 10k a day

10kstepsaday · 31/01/2026 18:39

As part of me trying to form healthier habits I am trying to consistently hit 10k (or more) steps per day for the whole of February (and hopefully beyond!). I average around 8000 steps and mostly work from home sat at a desk. It's not a huge challenge and I know this is probably not even a challenge for most but wanted somewhere to be accountable and post my daily efforts.

Feel free to join me 🤩

Hey! I also wfh and am sat a desk all day. I’ve been trying to hit 10000 steps every day recently, and I like the idea of aiming for every day in February. I’ll give it a whirl.

10kstepsaday · 31/01/2026 22:51

Yay I have a buddy! Thanks@SilenceInside
I tried to do it in Jan but only hit 10k on 8 days in total!
So hoping posting here daily and being held accountable will push me to finish those steps everyday 🙂

I too WFH and some days it really is a push to get 8k steps in a x that's with 2 dog walks a day. So count me in as a little accountability might just be the kick up the backside I need 😉

wlv12 · 31/01/2026 23:23

Hi,

I’d like to join please! I’m struggling to get near 10k steps but really feel having a group will help motivate me!

CleanandLight109 · 31/01/2026 23:34

I would like to join you all.
I have done dry January and still have a bit of Christmas weight lurking so this would help to shed those last 2lbs.
If it helps with accountability we could post a screenshot of our steps every day. I use winwalk to motivate me to walk a bit more and also earn a few vouchers every 2/3 months. Link to the App in case anyone wants to use it.

I always find it easier to have a few people to motivate me.
Check in tomorrow.

Midlifeshenanigans · 01/02/2026 07:19

I struggle to get my steps up and could do with some motivation too please 😃

10kstepsaday · 01/02/2026 09:47

Welcome along @Jellybelly66 @wlv12 @CleanandLight109 and @Midlifeshenanigans the more the merrier 😃

Great idea to share screenshots, if ppl want to @CleanandLight109 I have not seen that app before.
I have a fitness watch (not mainstream one) that connects to an app and is how I will be tracking my steps.

Day 1 today, let's start off strong 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️

Thanks @10kstepsaday I am planning a walk, probably a slightly soggy one, around 1pm.
I have a Fitbit but like the Winwalk as it gives me an extra incentive to move and in Autumn and Winter I need all the motivation I can get.

SilenceInside · 01/02/2026 19:54

Needed to get on the treadmill to get past the 10k steps but got there in the end. Given that I WFH and have two children to sort out, I often have to walk/run on the treadmill at all kinds of hours to get my steps in.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 01/02/2026 20:02

I’d like to join please, feels like a good goal for February. January was dry January which I have ticked off and am still going for who knows how long!

Overall I manage 10k steps a day but that’s over a week and not consistently every day. I work shifts and set myself a goal during January to get out for a walk whilst at work every day but some days it’s been pouring down and I haven’t managed it. It can be a pretty sedentary job with a lot of computer work so it takes some effort to get active some days.

I am training for a 50k walk in the summer so yesterday did 15 miles but today only just scraped in at 10k steps as I was working.

I’m also on a cruise for 2 weeks in Feb so having the goal of 10k steps will help keep me accountable. It will be stairs rather than lift, laps of the ship and treadmill on the days when we are at sea😎 We do like to walk to explore so will get the miles in off ship.

10kstepsaday · 01/02/2026 20:31

Well done @SilenceInside
I am the same, although I don't have a treadmill so I just finished up doing laps around my house 🤣
I am thinking of getting a walking pad!

Welcome
@Doyouthinktheyknow sounds like an awesome plan, and lots of lovely summer plans! I definitely cannot wait for the rain and miserable grey to disappear!!

Just hit my 10k, was a very slow chilled Sunday so all I wanted to do was curl up with a good book but day 1 is done 😃 hope everyone else is getting on ok!

Met my 10k today- slightly damp walk but then had to finish off marching around the house. Has anyone got a walking pad? I’m quite tempted but would like to have a recommendation

CleanandLight109 · 01/02/2026 23:18

Did a decent walk in the middle and then had a fairly active rest of the day around the house. Screenshot to keep me honest. Well done all for your powerful start.
I don't use a walking pad but do use You Tube free indoors walks from Leslie Sansone if I cannot get out. She has a slightly grating voice but you cannot knock her enthusiasm 😂

10kstepsaday · 02/02/2026 13:24

Well done @Midlifeshenanigans I'm glad it's not just me marching around the house 😆

Wow well done @CleanandLight109 you smashed it!!
Ah yes I sometimes do get fit with rick walking workouts on YouTube! I will have to try Leslie ones too!

I am off work today but have changed all bed sheets and hoovered and mops all floors plus visited supermarket so nearly at 7 k all ready 😃 easier when not Sat at the desk all day! Will report back later once completed!

Excellent job @10kstepsaday to have 7000 steps by lunch time.
I braved a walk outside and apart from a very cold face the rest of me is glowing.
Now for dinner and I'll upload a screenshot before bed. Finding this thread very motivational as it is really making me feel I cannot let the side down.

10kstepsaday · 02/02/2026 20:12

It's unusual @CleanandLight109 🤣
Well done on your walk!! I am going to try to get outside tomorrow on my lunch break.
I am enjoying the thread too, definitely helping me stay on track (bold statement for day 2!)

Super job @10kstepsaday and you should be pleased. Even the longest journey begins with a single step.

Got to just about 11k today, with some treadmill walking needed this evening again. I need to figure out how I can work in an extra outside walk each day, around my working hours and the children.

10kstepsaday · 03/02/2026 12:17

Well done @CleanandLight109 and @SilenceInside ,awesome work!!

I am trying to get up every 20mins or half hour and do a little loop around the house today to keep steps going. Going to go for a super quick walk after my lunch in a sec.

10kstepsaday · 03/02/2026 18:39

Here's today's effort. A walk at lunch made all the difference for sure. I put headphones on, wrapped up warm, walked for 4 songs in 1 direction then turned around and came back! Short and sweet! Hope everyone else is getting on ok today!

Another 11k or so today, managed a short outdoor walk in the rain and then a treadmill run later on.

CleanandLight109 · 03/02/2026 23:41

I braved the rain today as I had a fun mystery shopping task to do and so have a decent step count on Win walk today and three bonuses on top of my step credit.

10kstepsaday · 04/02/2026 08:58

🥳🥳🥳
Well done both!!

Today may be trickier for me as I have to drive out at lunch somewhere so probably won't get a walk in then 🤔
Will see but I think tonight I will be marching to get the 10k.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 04/02/2026 18:34

Well done, everyone is doing so much better than me😳😂
I started strong but had 2 long days at work where we have just switched to a new electronic records system, typical NHS, our training was woefully inadequate so it’s been a nightmare and I’ve had no breaks and not enough movement!

I'm off work now and back on track today, 15000 steps and I’m planning a 10+ mile walk tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll average 10k steps daily over the week.

SilenceInside · 04/02/2026 20:54

Another 11k today, a mixture of short outdoor walks and a treadmill walk. It’s pretty typical for a work and kids at school day.
