February 10k a day

As part of me trying to form healthier habits I am trying to consistently hit 10k (or more) steps per day for the whole of February (and hopefully beyond!). I average around 8000 steps and mostly work from home sat at a desk. It's not a huge challenge and I know this is probably not even a challenge for most but wanted somewhere to be accountable and post my daily efforts.

What a world of difference a bit of sunshine makes!! An hour lunch time walk today and it was glorious!!

I'm intrigued by this capoeira @Proteinpudding
Never heard of it before!

Well done everyone 🤩
I will be honest I havent seen any weight loss however my diet really needs a clean up - I have been terrible recently. But it is on my list to focus on more nourishing foods. I could do with losing about a stone!!

I am going to continue with a March thread if anyone wants to join again 🥳

@Joolly2 @10kstepsaday if you Google capoeira you will probably get videos of young men doing back flips or super fast kicks, capoeira when I do it is somewhat more sedate!

I'll certainly be up for a march challenge!

10kstepsaday · 26/02/2026 22:43

No outside walk today but got to the 10k!

@Proteinpuddingah so cool! Love to learn about new things like that. It looks fun!!

Good evening everyone. Another day another 10,000 or 11,549 to be exact. Got most of my steps this morning when the weather was good fortunately, as rain settled in this afternoon.
I have been thinking about a challenge for March. I really want to get healthier, I'd quite like to lose 6-8 lbs, so not a lot but it's very stubborn. However the thing I really want to do is eat vegetables. I love fruit, but almost never eat veg. I was really put off veg when I was a child by parents and school trying to force feed me. I think it's time I try again. So walking 10,000 steps and doing a veg count could be a good challenge for me. I would definitely be up for supportive thread.

Did a bit of home exercise to get there today. Not my best effort but I’ll take it.

Forgot to post yesterday, but managed to just get over the 10k mark and close all my activity rings on my watch app.

10kstepsaday · 27/02/2026 08:24

Well done @Joolly2 @CleanandLight109 and @SilenceInside

@Joolly2I am the same although around a stone really to lose. My diet is my biggest downfall, increasing vegetables would be a great focus for me too. Years ago I remember doing a 30 whole foods per week challenge, which was really good at increasing my veg intake. Fruit, veg, legumes, nuts were all counted and aim was to get 1 portion of 30 different ones across the week!

Just ticked over the 10k total, had to do a long indoor treadmill walk this evening to get there. But I got there. One more day…!

Great day out and my steps reflect it. Went to an exhibition and had a massive lunch in Covent Garden. One more day!

Been a bit busy to post, but managed just over 10k on Thursday, and just under, 9.5k yesterday which I was pleasantly surprised at as I ended up working/out the house all day and working late last night so I didn't have time to think about steps!

Great goal about eating more veg @Joolly2 and @10kstepsaday . I have been watching my diet (calorie counting) and I'm definitely eating more fruit and veg and, and my wait is entirely static, even with the extra activity... A bit depressing tbh! I can only assume that the amount I was eating before was enough that I was gradually putting on weight, and that's why the reduction isn't enough of a deficit to lose. But I don't think I can go much lower without becoming one of those people who carries weighed portions of their own food around in Tupperware, and I'm not prepared to go that far... I might have to take up running!

CleanandLight109 · 28/02/2026 17:01

That's my last 10k of the month boxed off - I'll put a screenshot up at the end of the day.
Irritatingly I have not really lost any weight despite my efforts and am still 1.5lbs over my pre Christmas weight and cannot seem to get the scales under 110.5lbs. This is despite doing dry Jan and now 10k Feb.
What should I do in March thread chums?

10kstepsaday · 28/02/2026 19:49

Me too @CleanandLight109 last day done 🥳
I also haven't lost any weight 🤣 but I admit my diet has been shocking this month. Working on cleaning it up now!

Wooooohoooooo!! I am so flipping proud that I did 27/28 days this month! And for sure it is thanks to you all for joining in and keeping the motivation up and bringing positivity vibes ✨
In January I achieved just 8 days so the thread for sure had made a huge difference! I am going to slightly adjust my target on my watch for March to 11k.

@10kstepsaday thanks for the new thread, your link works fine. I'll join everyone on it tomorrow.
I've finished the month with 11,571 steps today. I'm in two minds about upping the daily total to 11,000. I don't want too much pressure as I am going to add the challenge of 30 veg a week to my target for March. Thanks for the idea @10kstepsaday This target may be a step too far for a veg phobic perhaps it would be cheaper and more realistic to try a more gentil approach, but i may give it a weeks trial and see if it needs to be adjusted. Any advice gratefully received.
Congratulations to everyone finishing the February challenge. There has been some really good camaraderie and lots of encouragement, so thank you one and all.

Well done @Joolly2

Yeah will see how I go with the 11K 😅

It's meant to be very good for the gut microbiome! I will definitely be focusing on healthier foods in March. I hate calorie counting but might have to do that too at some point. For now just focusing on less crap and more nutritious foods.

Congrats @10kstepsaday !
@Joolly2 remember small changes done over time are much more likely to stick than trying to change everything at once. Is there any veg or dishes with veg in that you find easier or more palatable?
My go to if I haven't eaten as much veg as usual is to make a stir fry, just because it's so quick to do, and convenience is big factor when it comes to what I'll choose to eat!

Proteinpudding · 28/02/2026 22:10

Oh and I'm pleased to end the day with 16,338. I was working earlier so 10k on my walking pad, then out this evening and as it was still early, opted for a brisk walk home. Was nice to get some fresh air for a change!

10kstepsaday · 28/02/2026 22:14

Woohooo well done @Proteinpudding🥳

Everyone has absolutely smashed it 💪🏻

Found a new app that shows my steps better than the Apple watch, so I can do a month screenshot. The solid blue is a 10k or more day. Did 11k today, which I think I will aim for as a new target for March.

Thanks for the support and camaraderie on this thread. It definitely helped get me to my step total on days where I was not really in the mood!

That’s great @SilenceInside - it’s a real sense of achievement to see it all there in black and white ( or blue!)
Here’s my final effort attached.

See you on the March thread 😃

@Proteinpudding thanks for the tip. I think you are right about small steps. I am like a child with veg, I'd rather not see it or taste it so I tend to put a lot of curry powder or Harissa paste on things. For March I think 30 veg a week is being too ambitious, I'll start making myself eat some fruit and veg every day. At the moment I can go days and days without any fruit or veg.
I am just about to finish 10,000 steps.
Well done everyone.
