February 10k a day

As part of me trying to form healthier habits I am trying to consistently hit 10k (or more) steps per day for the whole of February (and hopefully beyond!). I average around 8000 steps and mostly work from home sat at a desk. It's not a huge challenge and I know this is probably not even a challenge for most but wanted somewhere to be accountable and post my daily efforts.

Feel free to join me 🤩

Day started badly when I realised I had done a walk without my watch on. Luckily my phone recorded it. The rest of the day went well and I finished with a total of 13,840.
@10kstepsaday @SilenceInside congratulations on your total of days for this month. I think I'm on day 5.

Day 16 successfully completed with long walk - partly in the rain - with my chum. Very tired tonight.

CleanandLight109 · 16/02/2026 22:31

Bah told you I was tired. Here's the screenshot!

That's great @Joolly2
Glad you phone captured the walk that would have been so frustrating otherwise!!

@CleanandLight109 20k !! You are absolutely smashing it! No wonder you're tired 🤩

Another day ticked off, just about 11k. I think my next challenge is to try to increase my typical total to a bit more over the 10k than that!

10kstepsaday · 17/02/2026 09:28

@SilenceInside i was thinking the same. Updating my watch target to 12K maybe 🤔

Good stuff @10kstepsaday, I have a similar total for today. It was a long work day, so very sedentary but I managed a walk in my lunch hour and then some more treadmilling this evening got me over the 10k.

I can see that on days like today when I’m at my desk all day that getting a larger step total is going to be hard.

CleanandLight109 · 17/02/2026 23:13

Good job thread buddies.
My efforts for a sunny but freezing Tuesday.

@10kstepsaday @CleanandLight109 @SilenceInside you are making this look easy. I think it's a good idea to up the steps a bit once we are consistently hitting the 10,000. I don't think I've reached that point just yet but I'm a couple of weeks behind you. My steps are also on the flat so l may look to include some inclines before increasing the steps.

I'm not finding it easy but am quite a target motivated person.
Jan was alcohol free, Feb is 10,0000 steps every day and I am thinking of what my March efforts will be. Also lent starts today so I'll have to think about that too.

10kstepsaday · 18/02/2026 09:46

@SilenceInside thats it I want to increase the target (maybe for March?) but the WFH days will be really tricky. Sometimes I have got to quite late in the day and needed to spend a lot of time marching around the house lol.

Well done everyone 🤩

I know it's a bit late for this month, but hoping to starting joining you lot - walking pad arrived today! I do a mixture of WFH and working at various sites, but since switching to condensed hours a year ago I do find i can get very sedentary, as although working fewer days is lovely my working days are very, very long, so being desk bound is an issue. I know I won't be able to do lots of walking at my desk (eg if Im on video or typing a lot) but even if I can do a few 5-10 mins while reading documents it'll make a big difference.
I have been quietly watching this thread and am feeling very inspired with everything you've achieved!

10kstepsaday · 18/02/2026 21:46

Welcome @Proteinpudding I'm glad you are joining in 🤩
I am seriously considering a walking pad!!

Here's my daily screenshot!!
I feel tomorrow will be a challenge, I am working and on site but I am doing at least 5 hours of driving 😭 so know I am going to exhausted too in the evening if I need to finish off steps. We will see! Hope everyone had a great Wednesday!

Another 10.5k today. Was off work with the kids, but we went to the cinema, lunch and amusement arcade so not exactly a lot of walking!

Proteinpudding · 18/02/2026 21:53

@10kstepsaday thanks for the welcome! And yes I feel your pain, my job involves going to meetings a different places, they're all at least an hour commute from home and usually 30mins drive between them. So as much as I try and do what's recommended, eg park a bit further away, it doesn't make up for how much time I'm sat in the car. I do tend to go to a gym class after work on the days I'm out and about, but I really hope I can get some more movement back in to my days. Not just for weight loss, overall wellbeing too, we're meant to move!

10kstepsaday · 18/02/2026 22:01

Well done @SilenceInside and that sounds like a super fun day!!

@Proteinpudding yes! I can sometimes get quite a few steps whilst on site but the travelling to and from is unavoidable. I'm not usually driving for 5 hours though this is a one off thankfully! Kudos to you for having energy after work for a workout 😅
you are right though we are meant to be moving and I have definitely noticed some benefits since this thread and being consistent with this - such as better sleep and more energy especially of an afternoon where I would usually have a slump.

Joolly2 · 18/02/2026 23:12

Welcome to the gang @Proteinpudding hope you get what you need from this thread. I managed 10,559 steps today.
I definitely need to move more, I slump after lunch and find it really hard to get going again. I'm going to write myself a list of things I want to achieve tomorrow. I do like a list.

Welcome @Proteinpudding
This is my effort for the day. Terrible weather so just spiffed around the street locally for a while.

Coulddowithanap · 19/02/2026 00:01

Well I saw this thread a few days ago and thought it would be a good achievement to get to 10k steps every day. Just managed my 3rd day in a row so pretty happy. Only just made it today, anyone else find them pacing round the house to get the last thousand steps?

Joolly2 · 19/02/2026 00:13

@Coulddowithanap love your name. Welcome. I think we have all had days when we have been marching round the house. The weather so far this year has been diabolical so walking round the house has been the only option.

Proteinpudding · 19/02/2026 15:32

Well I know this might be a honeymoon period, but first day with the walking pad and happened to have a full WFH day and I've clocked up 15,000 steps whilst working!
I know it's not the same as walking outside (I'm walking slowly to be able to do it while typing etc) but it's got to be better than being completely static. Thought it would be distracting but surprisingly it's actually helped me focus.

I know I won't always do this many but hope I can keep up the general habit.

SilenceInside · 19/02/2026 20:50

@Proteinpudding wow what a difference! It really all does add up if you can keep chipping away at it each hour rather than sitting and being completely sedentary. Which is my issue during my working day. I got out for a hour walk at lunch, which has helped me get to 12k today.

Proteinpudding · 19/02/2026 21:11

Thanks @SilenceInside and congrats on your 12k! I do go to the gym, and do sport as a hobby, so in my mind I think I'm very active, but the reality is a couple of hours a week is nothing if I work 40+ hours and spend most of that sat down! I've tried to discipline myself to go for walking breaks when WFH but there's always so much to do that I never quite get round to it. So I think this will really help. I feel far more awake today than I usually would being sat at a desk!
