February 10k a day

As part of me trying to form healthier habits I am trying to consistently hit 10k (or more) steps per day for the whole of February (and hopefully beyond!). I average around 8000 steps and mostly work from home sat at a desk. It's not a huge challenge and I know this is probably not even a challenge for most but wanted somewhere to be accountable and post my daily efforts.

May I join? I’m hammering the walking pad and to be honest loving it as a bit of exercise for the first time ever. At the moment rather than steps I’m doing 5km at the quickest pace I can then 5km at a slower pace after a break.
the walking pad is in front of the tv so it’s so easy to get on. Even have the odd glass of wine while I’m walking

CleanandLight109 · 19/02/2026 22:33

Fitbit screenshot rather than win walk tonight as I just squeaked over the 10k.
well done everyone and I am out and about tomorrow so should have a decent day.

Oh lordy!! I have let the thread down 😭😭😭🤦🏻‍♀️
Screenshot below of yesterdays steps, which didn't get finished or posted due to falling asleep about 10pm ish and waking up at 1am on the sofa 😂 I was so tired after such a long day! Over 6 hours in the car thanks to traffic and then straight back into sorting the kids out when I got home.

Very annoyed with myself and now I won't get a rainbow on my watch for whole of Feb!! Boo!!
However extra determined to let that be the only blip and finish the month strong!!

Well done @Joolly2 , @CleanandLight109, @Coulddowithanap and @Proteinpuddingfor all your efforts!!

@Proteinpudding 15k clocked up whilst working is awesome. Do you have a standing desk then? I am very interested in getting a standing desk with walking pad scenario in my office 🤔

@cheesychipsontheoche welcome!!
Lol I love that you sometimes have a wine and a walk 😅

I think your step total is great given that you spent over 6 hours in a car yesterday, @10kstepsaday and I'm sure your average across Feb is still 10k plus.

10kstepsaday · 20/02/2026 10:38

That's a good way to look at it @SilenceInside

Joolly2 · 20/02/2026 11:02

@Proteinpudding I'm in awe of you typing and walking at the same time. Kudos.
I managed 12,724 steps today. I managed some of the things on my list but nodded off when I stopped for a coffee. Must try harder.

@Joolly2 you are doing great !!!!

@10kstepsaday don't feel bad, I've just realised the post I wrote last night was still sitting here unposted. I was obviously too tired. Everyone is doing really well, keep it up everyone.

Proteinpudding · 20/02/2026 11:22

Nearly 8,000 steps is still a decent amount and I'm sure is more than you would have been doing without this challenge!

@Joolly2 and @10kstepsaday yes I have a standing desk - only a very small cheap one from IKEA (most are designed for offices and are big and have a motor, mine needs to fit in the corner of my living room, no home office here!) I am really surprised with it, I really didn't think I could type and walk, but I can! Admittedly it means walking at a slow pace, but it's still better than nothing. And then when I've finished a document I put the speed up for a minute and have a quick march! I thought it would be a chore but I actually really enjoyed it, it is a bit noisy (mine is relatively quiet but it's still the sound of a motor and my steps) so I had my noise cancelling headphones in and I was dancing around at one point lol!
I found typing and emails fine, the only bit that was a little tricky was it I was using my mouse s lot and needed to be accurate (eg highlighting text) But the pad has a remote so it was easy enough to stop for a few minutes and start up again if I needed to.

Good luck for everyone for today's efforts!

cheesychipsontheoche · 20/02/2026 21:11

5k at speed 5k with wine. I’m aching today

Proteinpudding · 20/02/2026 21:35

15k today, mix of walking pad and travel. Think my watch over estimated as I'm sure it gave me some steps when I was driving, but I'm confident it was over 10 at least!

10kstepsaday · 20/02/2026 21:47

I am definitely going to be getting a standing desk!!
Well done everyone!!
@Proteinpudding my watch does that sometimes too! Today it buzzed at me saying I hit my calorie burning goal during driving 😂

Considering I didn’t leave the house today, I am happy to get over the 10k. A 5k run and the rest walking, all on my trusty treadmill.

Good evening everyone, I managed 10,671 steps today. Three shortish walks with a very reluctant dog in tow. He is not a fan of wet weather.
I mentioned getting a walking pad but husband isn't very keen. We are trying to get rid of stuff not buy more. However I will continue to drop hints and extol the virtues of indoor exercise. 😃.
@cheesychipsontheoche walking with wine. That's got to be the next exercise craze.

Joolly2 · 20/02/2026 23:32

I don't seem to be able to post photos.

CleanandLight109 · 20/02/2026 23:47

Great efforts everyone. Air g our trip out today ducking the showers so these steps are hard won.

Posting earlier tonight, without the screenshot, as I normally post from bed and I come across as a person who cannot string a sentence together.
This thread has been a great motivator for me on miserable days when I would have happily settled for 7/8000 steps.and instead have pushed through for 10,000+ steps. I have already hit target and will post a screenshot at the end of the day.

10kstepsaday · 21/02/2026 21:51

Well done everyone!!
Today's steps included a nice fresh walk by the sea!

Ah no I just realised my rainbow isn't actually closed on that screenshot 😅 steps are fine but need to do 4 more minutes of moving!! Off the sofa I get.....

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 21/02/2026 22:41

Hope you got the 4 minutes move sorted, @10kstepsaday . I spent today painting and decorating at home, which got me to about 5k steps but 0 minutes of exercise, so I did an indoor walk this evening to make up the remaining steps to 10k and my exercise/move targets.

Proteinpudding · 21/02/2026 22:54

10,264 here. Little dubious about the accuracy as some of that will be clapping, but I was also stomping on the spot at the same time? Keeping the goal in mind though, 90mins of today's efforts was in an energetic dance/gymnastics class so Im reminding myself I put the work in!

Out of interest what apps are people using to keep track and post screenshots of? I have Fitbit, not sure if there's anything better.

SilenceInside · 21/02/2026 22:58

I’m just using the Fitness app on my iPhone and Apple Watch, because it’s the watch that does the step tracking.

CleanandLight109 · 21/02/2026 23:06

I do Fitbit and Winwalk - https://s.winwalk.app/i/E63F626CE
I then sync both at the end of the day with an App called Fitbit to Apple which makes sure I earn as many points as I can on Winwalk. (Not a fortune but it's nice to get vouchers for something you would be doing anyway)
Anyhow though I might do a few more steps before I get into bed I'll post my current screenshot. Goodnight all and well done - 21 days down and only 7 to go to complete our challenge.

DH came in and offered me a cup of tea and a hot water bottle and I lost concentration and forgot the screenshot 😂
