2026 the final push! Anyone at the tail end of their weight loss journey and want to lose that last stone (and a bit) with me starting in January?

happysnail12 · 24/12/2025 08:30

Setting this thread up now in preparation for the New Year.

Over the last couple of years I have managed to lose 4.5 stone going from 15st 9 to 11 stone 2. My final goal is 10 stone.

I am 5"3 and I am 41. Weight loss has definitely slowed down, but I am determined to keep going and hope that 2026 will be the year I finally reach my target!

I losely follow intermittent fasting and am going to try and be more consistent with my exercise next year.

Anyone is welcome to join me 😊

I’m so, so sorry to hear that @happysnail12 - my deepest sympathy and I hope you are coping OK. Absolutely stay in fuck it mode and look after yourself, and definitely be kind to yourself. It’s such a tough time, and the only thing that matters now is that you and your loved ones are getting through this, day by day. Please take care of yourself xx

happysnail12 · 27/05/2026 08:03

Thank you @Silverblue1985 she had a good, long and happy life, but still a very big loss for our family. It's just so sad 😞

I'm slightly up today, (9st 13.2lbs) but still under 10st so not worrying too much. Although, I've given up caring about watching everything that goes into my mouth, I haven't resorted to binge eating, which is progress because I think previously this would be my usual coping mechanism.

I hope everyone else is doing well x

@happysnail12 so sorry to hear about your grandma, mine passed away in February and it’s like the corner piece of a puzzle is missing.

I saw a new low on Sunday and Monday, then a three pound gain today 🤷🏻‍♀️. So I had 4lbs to lose now I have half a stone again. I did eat about 1000 calories more this week and it is hot so hoping it’s the heat and not that I can’t ever enjoy a bank holiday again!!

will weigh again next week I think when this overall puffiness has gone away ( may try Saturday if I can face it as would
like to see a lower number again than today - I was very disappointed)

happysnail12 · 29/05/2026 08:37

Thank you @socks1107 your puzzle metaphor is such exactly how it feels. Just very surreal and empty.

And ditto with the heat/overeating over the half term/bank holiday. I've eaten so much bread and ice cream! I have avoided the scales for 2 days, when normally I weigh daily, because I know it won't be good

Hoping to reset myself when I go back to work on Monday and try and be fairly sensible for the rest of the week.

@socks1107 I hope your weigh-in has gone well, if you could face it! Sorry to hear about your loss as well.

@happysnail12 You’re doing really well. A bit up and down is normal anyway. Good luck with the reset next week.

I have not weighed, been so tired as not slept well in the heat, which made me incredibly nibbly. Also definitely had too much gelato, pizza and antipasti in Italy 🙈.
Felt generally just really big the last couple of days, which of course is crazy.
One night away in the UK next week, then another four nights including a weekend away the week after, and then that’s (hopefully) the crazy travel out of the way.

happysnail12 · 03/06/2026 07:18

Exactly the same weight as my last 2 weight entries on here - 9st 12.4lbs, so still maintaining.

I haven't been particularly good or bad (wrong choice of words I know!) diet/exercise wise, but have continued to get my steps in and haven't gone completely off the rails, so maintaining is fine with me 😊

My next step is definitely to get into a better exercise routine, but until the funeral and all the visiting family have gone back home, I'm giving myself a moment to breathe.

@Silverblue1985 I hope your last few days of travel go okay and that you can have a well deserved rest afterwards.

I have weighed and I’ve maintained for the last two weeks so happy with that. The heat got me with poor food choices and little walking!
back on it now and still have that pesky 4lbs to go….

happysnail12 · 03/06/2026 12:40

Well done on your maintain @socks1107 I'm counting that as a win after all this heat we've had! (Although we're back to miserable rain now! 🙄)

I bet you'll have a sudden whoosh and the last 4lbs will zoom off.

I'm officially aiming for 9st 10lbs, but as long as I stay under 10, I'm very happy. It's the lightest I've been in my adult life!

Silverblue1985 · 06/06/2026 15:20

@socks1107 Well done on your maintain! It’s definitely been challenging in the heat. (And the last few lbs are the toughest anyway).

@happysnail12 I hope you’ve had an OK week, getting back into your routine.

I weighed this morning and 60.1kg - 100g to go, think over the last week I’ve managed to balance out the Italian food spree (before the next one…). Maybe I should have just weighed a couple of hours later to see my goal weight 😂

My body fat was showing as 30% so that’s still going in the right direction.

Wet and windy parkrun today but luckily avoided the worst. Got a 10k race tomorrow, along the coast, maybe I should take a kite!

happysnail12 · 08/06/2026 08:16

Well done @Silverblue1985 so close! Hope you survived the weather during your runs! ☔️🥶 a stark contrast to last week!

I hit a new low this morning, 9st 9.6lbs which has met my amended goal. Definitely need to focus on maintaining and strengthening now, as I don't want to lose too much more. I imagine things with fluctuate here and there, but I am fine with that. The aim is to stay within a healthy bracket rather than fixate on the numbers.

Silverblue1985 · 08/06/2026 22:40

Congratulations @happysnail12 ! And I think your views are really good and healthy.

I was quite lucky with the weather, and it felt really warm on the way back. I’m glad I opted for capris instead of long leggings!
Managed to get a PB and my first sub-1hr 10k (59:02) so was well chuffed.

My DH (or not so dear) pretty much ruined it quickly though. He’s very big (BMI of close to 55) and clearly jealous of me having lost all that weight and taking up running. (It’s not like he has even tried losing weight through a better diet - he doesn’t touch what I cook and lives off pork pies, sausage rolls, crisp sandwiches and the likes).
He made a couple of very snarky comments when I got home, which was a real downer. It’s not the first time (not only related to running but also to losing weight, buying new clothes etc) which is just really disappointing.

happysnail12 · 09/06/2026 10:12

Aww @Silverblue1985 that sounds really hard and it is a testament to you, that you've persevered and suceeded, despite his lack of support. Not easy though, I'm sorry you've had to experience that.

Well done on you amazing PB 😊 you should be really proud of yourself xx

socks1107 · 09/06/2026 18:08

@Silverblue1985 I’m sorry to read that. Jealousy and often fear can bring out the worst in people.
Your doing so well don’t let a few ill meant comments stop you x

Silverblue1985 · 10/06/2026 13:25

Thank you @happysnail12 and @socks1107 xx

Silverblue1985 · 20/06/2026 10:19

I wanted to check in again - hope you are all doing well.

I got to just under goal this morning, despite eating my weight in gelato over the last weekend (five scoops each day 😂).

My new Garmin watch has my calories at an average of 2000 - 2200 day, depending on the running I do, so that’s what I’ll be aiming for for maintenance and see how it goes.

Have a good weekend!

2026 the final push! Anyone at the tail end of their weight loss journey and want to lose that last stone (and a bit) with me starting in January?
happysnail12 · 21/06/2026 13:52

Well done @Silverblue1985that's an amazing achievement well done 👏 🥳

I have been well and truly off the rails! It was my grandma's funeral this week and I have definitely fallen into comfort eating. I have avoided the scales completely, but am going to face the music tomorrow and try and reset (again!)

OP posts:
Silverblue1985 · 21/06/2026 21:54

Thank you @happysnail12 !

I hope you have been able to give your grandmother a good send-off and also found some comfort in it. Please don’t be hard on yourself no matter what the scales say.

happysnail12 · 21/06/2026 22:19

Thank you @Silverblue1985 It was all actually very beautiful and a perfect celebration of a life well lived x

OP posts:
happysnail12 · 22/06/2026 11:09

Okay, so I have faced the scales! And have gained 4lbs 🙄 I am 9st 13.4lbs today, so just about keeping below my top weight, but too close for comfort. It has given me the motivation to get back on top of things, because although I am still in a healthy range it shows how easy it is to go down the slippery slope.

So starting again with aiming for 9st 10lbs. I feel like maintaining is harder that losing!

OP posts:
Silverblue1985 · 22/06/2026 11:46

Well done for facing the scales @happysnail12 . I’m sure some/most of this isn’t fat gain and will cone off quickly when you’re back on track.

And yes, maintaining is definitely harder than losing. Trying not to fall back into old bad habits, without the motivation of having a goal / seeing weight loss and without NSVs. And with our bodies fighting against us… It feels like it’s going to be a lifelong challenge.

happysnail12 · 22/06/2026 12:31

Definitely a lifelong battle and keeping the motivation is so difficult. Sometimes I just really miss overeating! But I know that I feel so much better when eating well and looking after myself.

happysnail12 · 24/06/2026 21:31

Hi all, I hope you are all surviving the heat! 🥵

Wednesday weigh-in and I'm a lb down since I last posted. 9st 12.4lbs today. Feeling a bit more on track but definitely not 100% in the right mindset (had a big fat Subway with my son today because his school finished at lunch).

Anyway, just gonna keep on keeping on!

OP posts:
Silverblue1985 · 25/06/2026 17:35

That’s going in the right direction @happysnail12 - hope you enjoyed the Subway and manage to get back on track and the scales keep going in the right direction. Always remember what you’ve achieved - it’s tiny what you want to lose now. 💪🏻

I’m hiking (solo) in the Lakes this week, so am not watching what I eat. Had a lovely big pizza for lunch yesterday, and my favourite “sandwich” from my favourite sandwich shop a few times. (Salad sandwich, with coleslaw, on a massive ciabatta roll). And a lot of ice cream. But I have run / walked / hiked 170k steps since Saturday, amounts to 125km and 2780m ascent (1100m was directly on Sunday, when the temperatures were more bearable) so I think it’s fine for once.

I also got myself the jellycat today which was my “goal” treat - I might have got two though 🙈😂 I only have one, so not really collecting, but find them too cute.

Have a good weekend - not long to go!

happysnail12 · 25/06/2026 20:01

Wow that all sounds lovely (and very active) @Silverblue1985 enjoy the lakes and your Jellycats - a well deserved reward.

I've been more focussed today. Had most of the day at home alone and the thought did cross my mind that I could get away with some secret eating! However, managed to override the impulse and stay on track.

I certainly don't want to fall into the trap of self-sabotage after working so hard to get healthy.

Well done for resisting @happysnail12 !
