2026 the final push! Anyone at the tail end of their weight loss journey and want to lose that last stone (and a bit) with me starting in January?

happysnail12 · 24/12/2025 08:30

Setting this thread up now in preparation for the New Year.

Over the last couple of years I have managed to lose 4.5 stone going from 15st 9 to 11 stone 2. My final goal is 10 stone.

I am 5"3 and I am 41. Weight loss has definitely slowed down, but I am determined to keep going and hope that 2026 will be the year I finally reach my target!

I losely follow intermittent fasting and am going to try and be more consistent with my exercise next year.

Anyone is welcome to join me 😊

I was far too optimistic. Scales are just bouncing around to make a fool of me tbh. Back up day after day after day this week. No new lows just highs. Holiday in ten days and I was so close now I’ll not make the goal.
I’m genuinely considering giving up tbh. Can’t seem to get a healthy bmi no matter what I do and it’s starting to really affect me mentally after 15 months and three long stalls it’s all I can think about - my weight, food and what I need to be that just isn’t happening. Either that or get back up to a bmi of 27 and use a GLP1, seem like an option as I have high blood pressure

happysnail12 · 09/03/2026 09:24

Oh @ErmThisOne and @socks1107 I'm so sorry to hear you are both having such a tough time of it. I can really relate to the constant mental struggle and frustration that comes with trying to lose weight.

Please be kind to yourselves and don't give up. @socks1107you are so close and have done so well. A target is just that. Something to aim for, and although you may not reach that before your holiday, don't forget how far you've come and how much healthier you must be feeling.

I'm currently up 2lbs too. Although I only have myself to blame, because I've been at Legoland all weekend and eaten nothing but junk!

Sending love and support from afar x

@ErmThisOne I’n sorry to hear you’re still on your plateau. Are there any non-scale victories you can focus on?

@socks1107 You have come so far, try not to give up! I know it’s difficult. If you don’t achieve goal before your holiday just enjoy it and get back to it after.

I really sympathise with both of you, it’s so difficult when things don’t move. The last stone really is the most difficult.

@happysnail12 Hope you’ve had an amazing time at Legoland!

I’m back on Wednesday evening so will probably weigh at the weekend. I have been very active - Saturday 36km of walking (5km was a Parkrun, managed just under 30 minutes, I did start off way too quick though and had to walk for a minute or so during the last km). Sunday 26km of walking and 1km of swimming. Last week managed a 5k before work on Wednesday and 1.5km of swimming twice, plus somewhere between 10k to 20k steps a day. I have eaten ok-ish - I normally don’t have breakfast (or only a small snack) so that’s really adding to my calories. Lots of salads apart from that as it was quite warm, always hard to estimate if they’re not labelled / from salad bars.
My dress today felt slightly looser so I shall see. At home until Monday, then away again until Thursday, then I’m on a/l for a week. No plans yet - I was looking at going to the Lakes, but at this rate might be happy to just be at home for a week!

I hope everyone is having a good week

whataeffingnightmare · 10/03/2026 14:04

Broke my (long) plateau at 10st eventually by KOKO (keep on keeping on) and then dropped a few lbs to 9 10, have occasionally seen 9 9 briefly, which weirdly feels SO much better than 9 10! Strangely, the NSV thing that has made me happiest was when I noticed on my NHS app under “health conditions” was that Obesity had the status ‘ended’ and a date almost a year ago!

happysnail12 · 10/03/2026 18:29

Well done @whataeffingnightmare 👏 what an amazing achievement 😊

Yay, that’s great news @happysnail12 - well done!

I weighed this morning, 64.1kg, down 1.2kg since 22nd Feb.
However, my body fat percentage has gone down by 2.1% - not sure if that’s accurate or an outliner, I’ll see if it stays that way.

I also seemed to have brought a cold home, so no exercise today - will see if I feel well enough for swimming tomorrow and parkrun on Saturday.

Hope everyone is having a good week!

happysnail12 · 13/03/2026 07:29

Thank you @Silverblue1985 and well done to you too 👏

Hope you're feeling better soon x

Thank you @happysnail12 !

Weighed this morning and a bit of a whoosh - 62.9kg!
Body fat percentage is slightly up (1%) again - seems a pattern as the same happened when I was really active for two weeks on holidays.

Nearly more chuffed about a non-scale win though. I have quite big legs, always did - from ankles up, so not just calves. In October or so I saw some boots at M&S which I really liked, but I couldn’t get them closed (I already was in a normal BMI then). Well, I saw the boots in the 70% off sale yesterday and I could close them!!! Obviously I had to buy them, and a second pair in brown as they would have felt lonely otherwise 😁

Have a good week everyone!

happysnail12 · 15/03/2026 10:55

Amazing @Silverblue1985 love a good NSV! Enjoy your new boots 👢😊 and well done on your loss too!

My legs are similar, no matter what I do, my ankles/calves are always chunky! But I'm trying to focus on the positives about my body and be grateful for my waist.

Morning all, I had a whoosh this morning of 3lbs since mid week! That’s given me my holiday goal a week early.
I’m tempted not to weigh again all week as I’m really happy and might just enjoy knowing I hit it. I’ll still calorie count all week but leave it that before we fly!
I can’t read on my properly so will catch up with all your updates later on my iPad

happysnail12 · 15/03/2026 12:37

Yay! That's brilliant @socks1107 well done for keeping going when things got tough 😁 I hope you have a lovely holiday x

@BigOldBlobsy Welcome and good luck with the last stone (it IS the hardest!) What method are you using?

happysnail12 · 18/03/2026 07:26

Wednesday weigh-in: Just over a 1lb this week 😊 part of me is wondering if it's because I've been doing less weight training at the gym, rather than losing real fat, but I'll take the win!

Great news @happysnail12 , well done! Not far to go now!

happysnail12 · 18/03/2026 09:36

Thank you. Yes, getting close 🙌 then the biggest challenge starts....maintaining! That's the part I have never successfully navigated in the past!

OP posts:
Silverblue1985 · 22/03/2026 17:58

Yeah, I can so relate to this @happysnail12 !

63kg for me this morning so maintained. I have been in deficit pretty much all week (was only away one night), but I take it as it comes now, there’s no logic to this 😆

Another park runs yesterday - and then a 25km walk home as all trains were cancelled for several hours and DH was deep asleep with his headphones on 😬
Also managed my furthest run so far this week of 7.6km, whoop, whoop. It’s massive for me, I was a fat kid and always the last one to be picked in PE so I cannot even say I ran any significant distances as a child.

Hope everyone had a good week and good luck for next week!

happysnail12 · 24/03/2026 07:12

Wow @Silverblue1985 it makes me tired just reading about all your exercise, let alone doing it all!

Well done on maintaining, as we said before that's one of the biggest challenges. Have you got a final goal weight? Or are you happy with where you are now? (Sorry if I've asked that before and forgotten!).

OP posts:
Silverblue1985 · 24/03/2026 08:43

@happysnail12 Thank you! It’s somehow addictive, I feel the urge to move now! Which is definitely better than feeling the urge to eat an entire bar of chocolate.

I am aiming for 60kg (so about 9.5st), which is about 5kg more than I was at my lowest about 11 years ago (yep, when I had lost 30kg, and before I put at least 40kg back on… so much about maintaining struggles).
I constantly felt dizzy and had low blood pressure then (BMI of 20, so I wasn’t underweight), so definitely want to stay above that.

But to be honest, if I don’t lose the last 3kg / 6.5lbs, then I’m happy now as well.
With my last whoosh my belly seems to have reduced noticeably (a trouser size down), it’s nowhere near flat, but it never was since I was 6, and never will be, and that’s OK. I was quite lucky with my skin and have nothing too badly hanging (other than my boobs, but they have always grown southwards and were never perky) so overall can’t complain.

With my GERD I have to be extremely careful what I eat if I don’t want massive symptoms, so I suspect that this will help me with maintaining this time.

happysnail12 · 25/03/2026 07:18

@Silverblue1985 you've done so well and it sounds like you're taking a really healthy and sensible approach moving forward.

@happysnail12 👏👏👏 Looks like you’ve hit a stone of loss since January - you’ve done so well!

Do you already have a strategy for maintenance in mind?

happysnail12 · 25/03/2026 13:38

Very close to a stone since Christmas, yes.

I haven't got a strategy, other than ensuring that I continue healthy habits. In the past, I have always seen weight loss as being on a diet. This of course means that when the diet ends, all the weight goes back on!

I am definitely going to try to continue my walking and gym classes and although my maintainance calories will be higher, I am going to try my best stay mindful about what I eat. I can't use it as an excuse to go back to bingeing and overeating. I want to stay healthy and continue to feel more confident.
