2026 the final push! Anyone at the tail end of their weight loss journey and want to lose that last stone (and a bit) with me starting in January?

happysnail12 · 24/12/2025 08:30

Setting this thread up now in preparation for the New Year.

Over the last couple of years I have managed to lose 4.5 stone going from 15st 9 to 11 stone 2. My final goal is 10 stone.

I am 5"3 and I am 41. Weight loss has definitely slowed down, but I am determined to keep going and hope that 2026 will be the year I finally reach my target!

I losely follow intermittent fasting and am going to try and be more consistent with my exercise next year.

Anyone is welcome to join me 😊

10st 3 this morning, so officially 1 stone down since my January start date 🥳

3lbs off my initial target and 2lbs off a healthy bmi 😊

Now just need to survive the Easter holidays! 2 weeks of family events, roast dinners, hot cross buns and Easter eggs! 🙈

@happysnail12 🎊🎉🥳👏👏👏 Yay!! Massive well done!

Your plan for maintenance sounds very sensible- are you going to continue tracking calories?

Good luck for the Easter holidays - I’m away for work for four days next week, then back for the four Easter days, before being away for 10 days again. Back for three days, then away for another 10. So while no Easter temptation (there’s got to be an upside of having zero family nearby) it’ll be more difficult away, particularly as it’s more remote.

happysnail12 · 27/03/2026 07:00

Thank you @Silverblue1985😊

To be honest, I've been a bit lax with counting calories for the past few weeks, but feel that I have kind of found my rhythm with which meals/foods and how much.

Having said that, I think when I get to maintainance, I may log back onto MFP until I get used to my new normal. I don't envisage it will be hugely different, but obviously it's important to strike the balance right. I just want to get to a healthy weight and stay there. The yo-yoing needs to end!

I hope all of your travels go well and that you manage to have a few restful days in between x

Well done HappySnail, great achievement. I’m disheartened, started taking creatine to try to build muscle (to take up the slack, baggy arm & thigh skin). Yes, I read all the info about how it can make you weigh more because it draws water into the muscles, but still disappointing to see a 2lb gain!

sticking with it for a bit, to see if this evens out/does help the muscle build (also focusing on protein), and because it does seem to help a little with brain fog.

Silverblue1985 · 29/03/2026 15:23

@happysnail12 well done for continuing to lose without tracking, sounds like you’ve got it all worked out! :)

And thank you!
Weighed this morning and -200g (62.7kg) which now puts me onto a BMI of 23.
I had a couple of definitely way over maintenance days (yet another sinus infection of some sort, so my body craved all sorts) so wasn’t expecting anything.

Still managed my first sub-30 5k at Parkrun yesterday with an official time of 29 minutes and a watch time of 28:12 🎉

I was also up at the loft to get my boxes of size 8 clothes down and washed them all (five machines full, lol) - now I need to see what’s too big and swap things over.

All my clothes from size 20 downwards are in storage bags in the loft, not really sure what to do with them. Last time I gave everything to charity shops, but I don’t dare to quite yet.

@whataeffingnightmare good luck with the creatinine - are you also doing any weight training?

I hope you’re all having a good week!

whataeffingnightmare · 29/03/2026 15:55

@Silverblue1985, yes I am weight training (gym, dynamic yoga and reformer Pilates) and seeing good results in the shape of my arms and legs, just so disappointed that now my arms and legs are in the best shape ever, I still can’t show them off because of the saggy skin! Will keep going for now as I know that skin recovery post weight loss can take a while, and continued muscle building will also help. Am also avidly following another thread about skin sagging and have found a tiny improvement with bio oil so will persevere at least to the end of the bottle. Caudalie Vinosculpt body cream didn’t help at all!

happysnail12 · 29/03/2026 23:15

Thank you @whataeffingnightmareI don't know too much about creatine but can relate to the loose skin. I have areas that feel impossible to tone up. Especially my bingo wings which I absolutely hate. Even though I am wearing size 8-10 tops I am still sonself conscious about always having to cover my upper arms. I'm trying to do more weight training too but not sure how much difference it's making currently.

@Silverblue1985 well done on your loss and your park run 👏 and for getting back into your size 8s. I've been ruthless and chucked/charity shopped all my bigger sized clothes. Determined not to need them ever again.

I've had a couple of "bad" eating days but going to get myself back on track tomorrow. NSV yesterday though. I fit into a pair of size 10 trousers. I am bottom heavy so usually in size 12s despite being and 8-10 on top.

OP posts:
Silverblue1985 · 29/03/2026 23:59

@happysnail12 Love a good NSV 👏🏻 Well done!

happysnail12 · 30/03/2026 09:06

Well I've put 2lbs on over the weekend 🙈 so not sure I have got it all together! 😜🤣 back focussed for a bit now, then just need to get through the Easter weekend!

ErmThisOne · 31/03/2026 07:16

I’ve been hiding away. Last couple of weeks I’ve put on 2.5lb. It seemed to hit all of a sudden and won’t budge so back at 11.8 😡

happysnail12 · 31/03/2026 07:49

Aww I'm happy to see yiu back @ErmThisOne but sorry to hear things aren't budging! 😡 It must be so frustrating. I'm sitting here thinking of what I can offer as advice, but I'm pretty sure you have already been doing everything right.

Really hope something shifts and you start moving down again soon.

OP posts:
Silverblue1985 · 31/03/2026 23:18

@ErmThisOne I was wondering how you’re doing when I read back on the thread the other day. Sorry it’s not going so well, like happysnail I’m not sure what to advice, other than plateaus being so darn annoying! I hope things move for you again soon.

ErmThisOne · 01/04/2026 06:50

Well we had chippy tea last night and we go away on Friday so I am not giving it anymore thought until 13th April, it is what it is until then. I don’t want it to take over the holiday. Not sure what will for tea tonight and tomorrow (or dinner depending on where you’re from) but lunch today will be the usual so it’s not like I am throwing the towel in, just not worrying about it.

happysnail12 · 01/04/2026 08:47

I think that sounds like a great plan @ErmThisOne Enjoy your holiday and worry about it afterwards. Life's too short!

Wednesday weigh-in: 0.6lb loss this week, which isn't bad considering I was up 2lbs on Monday after a weekend of gorging on carbs!

Going to try to stay on track now, but off to stay with family from Monday, so we will see!

Hope everyone has a great Easter weekend

@happysnail12 Congrats and I hope you’re having a great Easter weekend!

I have weighed this morning, 62.3kg, so -400g. I felt like I was eating quite a bit, so wasn’t expecting any loss, but it’s always so difficult guessing calories and it clearly was better than I thought.

Away in the UK from Tuesday until flying out on Friday - Nando’s here I come on Tuesday / Wednesday and Thursday!

Have a great Easter All and a good week next week!

happysnail12 · 04/04/2026 19:45

Well done @Silverblue1985 😊 not easy when you are away from home so often, but you're smashing it 💪

I was down to 10st 2lb this morning. If I can lose just 1 more lb, I will officially be in a healthy BMI bracket! I've been pretty on track this week (although couldn't resist hot cross buns!). Now to navigate Easter and a few days away with family.

OP posts:
Silverblue1985 · 05/04/2026 14:29

That’s amazing @happysnail12 - you’ll smash it despite Easter and a few days away!

(Over Christmas I told myself that so many people who have never been overweight or obese put on weight over Christmas / holidays - they just manage to stop putting on weight after / lose it again, so it’s “normal” as long as we don’t allow it to spiral out of control again).

It’s an amazing feeling when you see your BMI as “normal” for the first time in a long time.

happysnail12 · 05/04/2026 16:12

Thanks @Silverblue1985

That's definitely a good way of looking at things and 100% how I am trying to live my life now. I haven't been particularly focused today (I've had a big lamb roast and too much chocolate despite intentionally not buying myself an actual easter egg!). But it's Easter and it's one day. As long as tomorrow I refocus, then things stay balanced. For too long, I have fallen into the trap of a bad day, turning into a bad week, turning into a bad month etc. Or the opposite and completely denying myself and feeling miserable. Neither work and so I am trying to keep going with a more mindful approach.

OP posts:
Silverblue1985 · 06/04/2026 14:43

@happysnail12 I hope you enjoyed every bite of that roast!
That trap you’ve previously fallen into sounds all too familiar.

I have weighed this morning before going away, and wow, a massive whoosh down to 61.4kg (9st 9lbs). That’s -1.3kg since 29th March, and I have no idea how; either I’m burning way more calories than I think I am / my watch suggests, or the Dutch cook with very few calories! Or this whole weight loss thing is still something I don’t quite understand the logic of sometimes (most likely). I’ll take it of course.

That’s now 3lbs / 1.3kg to go for me.

happysnail12 · 06/04/2026 18:06

Wahoo, well done @Silverblue1985 that's amazing! 😊

socks1107 · 07/04/2026 08:18

Morning all hope everyone had a lovely Easter. I’ve finished the end of a two week refeed and I can honestly say I enjoyed every mouthful!! I’ve gone up 4lbs but a lot of that will be carbs and salt and I am actually ready to start eating healthy today and shift the final 9lbs for my next holiday. I have 14 weeks and that’s my weight loss all finished.
it’s become really clear I was under eating since Xmas so I’m going to actually eat more calories for the next month and see where that gets me

happysnail12 · 08/04/2026 23:01

Think I've been doing an unintentional re-feed this week @socks1107🙈 what's your thinking behind a re-feed? I've never really heard of it before, but I'm guessing it's almost a bit of a re-set?

I'm away at my parent's and they eat such big portions! I've probably eaten double what I normally would over the last couple of days! And I feel so bloated!

I haven't weighed today because I'm not at home, but dread to think what the scales are going to say on Friday morning!

Hope everyone is doing better than me this week! 🤪

happysnail12 · 10/04/2026 08:15

Wednesday weigh-in (but on Friday because I was away). Bit of a gain this week, but not surprised and glad it wasn't more to be honest!

It's my wedding anniversary today, so going to give myself a bit of a free pass this evening and then get back on it properly from tomorrow.

Back to work and school on Monday which usually helps keep me in a bit more of a routine with food and exercise.
