2026 the final push! Anyone at the tail end of their weight loss journey and want to lose that last stone (and a bit) with me starting in January?

happysnail12 · 24/12/2025 08:30

Setting this thread up now in preparation for the New Year.

Over the last couple of years I have managed to lose 4.5 stone going from 15st 9 to 11 stone 2. My final goal is 10 stone.

I am 5"3 and I am 41. Weight loss has definitely slowed down, but I am determined to keep going and hope that 2026 will be the year I finally reach my target!

I losely follow intermittent fasting and am going to try and be more consistent with my exercise next year.

Anyone is welcome to join me 😊

@socks1107 Good luck for the next weeks!
@happysnail12 My mother is the same, and she’s an amazing cook so hard to say no when offered seconds 😬😂 Glad the “damage” is limited and happy wedding anniversary!

I have been doing OK so far this week I think - managed two swims in the hotel pool and a 10k (slow) run Wednesday night.

NSV - it’s the first time in years where I have worn significant heels again! When obese and even overweight I couldn’t cope with heels, it was killing my feet and legs. Wore them all day on Tuesday including quite a bit of walking and been fine :-)))

Have a great weekend!

happysnail12 · 10/04/2026 11:17

Whoop whoop on the NSV @Silverblue1985 🥳 It's always great to notice the little (but significant changes ☺️).

@happysnail12 I did a reffed for two reasons, I had a holiday booked so it was a natural time but I extended the refeed as I wasn’t loosing and had some signs of adaptation so it’s been good to eat a bit more and then start dieting again. Mentally I feel better!
so last week I did not get back to calorie counting, I wasn't dreadful but not perfect so this week I start properly back to 1550 a day. Gym has been restarted after our usual winter on hold and I’m ready and motivated this morning! (Plus I’ve eaten all my chocolate eggs so there’s no temptation lying around)
have a great week everyone

happysnail12 · 13/04/2026 14:17

Sounds like a good method @socks1107 I've just never heard of it but does make sense.

I had an absolute binge day on my wedding anniversary.. .McDonald's with my son at lunch, huge curry with all the sides at an Indian restaurant + cocktails for dinner and then a creme egg and a packet of mini eggs in the evening!

Not good, but got straight back in it on Saturday and now the Easter holidays are done, I have a bit of normality and routine to rely on! 🤞

Wednesday weigh-in. A fairly small loss this week, but I have been pretty inconsistent, so didn't expect more.

I've been back "on it" since Saturday and now that I'm back at work (boo) I find it much easier to stick to sensible food and consistent exercise.

So close, yet so far to my final goal, but I will keep on plodding!

I hope everyone else is doing well x

I’ve last weighed on Saturday and a slight gain (62.1kg). Lots of lovely (grilled) seafood in Spain, but also a few baguettes with fresh Iberian ham and local cheese, local roasted almonds and definitely too much ice cream. I don’t regret anything though 😂
Away again from today until next week Friday (so 11 nights), three countries, with too much nice food, so not expecting any loss.

Non food-related, but in a moment of craze, I signed up for a local half marathon on May bank holiday Sunday, and the Manchester HM in October. Not run further than 17km so far, and not as regularly as any training plan suggests - but because the May one is so local, I thought it’s a cheap / convenient way to try a race, and if I have to walk part of it, then so be it.

The Manchester one costs me quite a bit of money with train travel, two hotel nights and a day a/l, so definitely want to be fit for this, and it should be a motivator to stay on track. Be amazing to be part of a large event like this!
Also considering the Hamburg HM at the end of June, but it has been over 30C in previous years, and I hate hot weather. Finally, entered the ballot for Berlin’s HM next year but won’t find out if I was lucky until June.

I hope everyone is having a good week!

socks1107 · 20/04/2026 18:55

Hi all. This week I’ve lost a pound. Really back in the mindset now to get the last bit off.
really hope I’m there by July! 8lbs.
been swimming this week and re started my weights so all positive!
@Silverblue1985 enjoy your holidays

Silverblue1985 · 20/04/2026 21:17

Well done @socks1107 , glad it’s moving for you again! Unfortunately no holidays but away for work, though I have the weekend off - win-win as it’s more cost- and time-efficient to stay than flying backs and forth. So even worse as all food is on expenses 😂

happysnail12 · 20/04/2026 22:16

Wow, good for you @Silverblue1985 I don't think I could manage 1 half marathon, let alone 3! Hope it all goes well. Good luck with the next part of your work travels too. The food all sounds delicious, you do so well to keep on top of it all.

Well done on your loss@socks1107 Glad to hear you are feeling back on top of things and doing well 😊

I've continued to be focused since Easter, but it's my son's 12th birthday this weekend, so some cake and Chinese food may just accidentally into my mouth! Otherwise, I'm being good, I promise 😉

Wednesday weigh-in. Just over 1/2 lb this week. Things are moving very slowly again 🐌 It's a bit infuriating, but trying to stay patient and trust the process!

As I said, I have my son's birthday weekend coming up. Going to try and stay on track as much as possible, but also want to enjoy the "All You Can Eat" with my family. We will see how it goes.

Only 1lb to go to a healthy bmi and 2lbs to my goal, so determined to keep going.

Hope everyone is doing well x

Well done @happysnail12 your so close!

I haven’t weighed yet this week, stuck to calories and macros so hoping for a good result tmrw. I really hold water and started on new bp meds this week that act as a diuretic too and my hands were bony within 12 hours so maybe I’ll shed this water weight I’ve been holding onto.

happysnail12 · 23/04/2026 07:07

Well done @socks1107sounds like you're doing great. Good luck for the weigh in and with the meds x

I was 10st 1.4lb this morning. My lowest weight so far and so so close to target 😬

Wednesday weigh-in. Just over a 1lb this week - 10st 0.8lbs - which brings me officially into a healthy BMI (just!) 🥳🥳 0.8lb to reach my 10st target, then time to re-evaluate and work out next steps 😊

I'm in Birmingham for the bank holiday weekend (and due on my period 🙄), but hopefully I can keep myself on track and reach my goal 🤞🤞🤞

Hope everyone is doing well

@happysnail12 yay, congratulations on achieving a normal BMI! You’ve lost so consistently, a great journey and you can be proud of yourself :) Enjoy Birmingham!

I’m still away but not expecting any loss - met my mother and grandmother on Sunday and food-wise it was carnage lol. Most other days were not calorie deficit territory either (or a very small).

Half-marathon day on Sunday, so I am not trying for a calorie deficit this week (and won’t weigh this weekend).

Have a great BH weekend all!

happysnail12 · 29/04/2026 15:05

Thank you @Silverblue1985 it's been a long old slog, but so nearly there! Just shows it's worth persevering. There's been ups and downs and plateaus and frustrations, but by keeping at it, I've got there eventually (well nearly anyway!)

The food carnage sounds great! I hope you had a lovely time. And good luck with the half marathon 😊 let us know how you get on 💪x

I did it! My first HM! It was a bit too warm (unexpectedly!) and at km 18 something really upset my stomach. It massively bloated and hurt - I had 1.5 dextro energy tablets and took some sports drink, other that only water. I looked like pregnant 🙈 Probably should not have taken the sports drink.

Either way, I had to resort to walking quite a bit from there, but got in at around 2h27m. I had hoped for 2h20m, and was with the pacers until then, but no chance. Made me feel better that there were quite a few people walking at this stage, though there also was a 10k and the guys targeting 50minutes came flying past on the last km, which made you feel like a snail 😂

It has taken a couple of hours for things to settle down and I just managed to eat some sushi and mango. No idea how I can manage this, I already didn’t eat anything before.

Atmosphere was amazing though, the town really came out to support, just as well as I was on my own.

Hope everyone is enjoying the BH weekend!

happysnail12 · 04/05/2026 09:13

Well done @Silverblue1985 what an amazing achievement! 💪 I hope you are able to have a well deserved rest and chill today 😊

I've had a busy but fun weekend with my family in Birmingham. Way too much junk consumed, but a fair few steps, so hopefully the damage isn't too bad!

Back to it today. I really want to start focussing on strengthening now, but don't really know how to get myself started with a consistent routine.

OP posts:
Silverblue1985 · 04/05/2026 14:21

Thank you @happysnail12 ! 💐

Re strengthening, it’s the one area I am struggling with as well (and I’m not motivated to do at all).
Are you planning to do it at home using body weight / dumbbell exercises, or are you looking to go to the gym or join classes? I’ve looked at Pilates, but the classes here all seem to run in the mornings or midday, nothing in the evening.

happysnail12 · 05/05/2026 07:20

Yes, motivation is my issue too (and time schedules!). I was doing okay - going to 1-2 body conditioning classes a week plus using the machines at the gym a couple of times a week. However, my husband has just changed jobs and is now working shifts. This means that I am needed more often at home to look after the kids/drive them to various clubs and I am finding it harder to find available time slots.

I am also absolutely rubbish at making myself do it at home. I am in a good habit with my steps and am on day 124 of doing over 10,000 steps a day but just can't seem to find the motivation to do strengthening.

I have been thinking about buying one of the gymproluxe machines but I don't want it to become another at home exercise machine that sits gathering dust!

OP posts:
Silverblue1985 · 05/05/2026 23:50

@happysnail12 That sounds tough fitting in exercise around your husband’s shifts. Well done on your step streak though, that’s great!

No suggestions unfortunately as I am stuck with that conundrum myself…
