How about losing one stone by Christmas 🌲

Clitmandu · 14/09/2025 08:22

There are 14 weeks until Christmas. I’m thinking just one pound a week would crack a stone off and make a big difference.

One pound a week is doable and not too much pressure.

I am starting today, my plan is to stop being so bloody greedy and stop the mindless all day long scoffing.

Weigh in every Sunday.

Am off to dust off the scales and weigh myself, I will report back !

Would love some company.

@MiddlingMarch onwards and upwards - it’s hardly ever fat gain (unless you’ve really eaten a lot, lol) so should come off again quickly when you’re back at it.

@AreYouBrandNew Good luck for the last 3.5 weeks!

Harrysmummy246 · 03/12/2025 11:09

Totally stalled on tracking but at least still in 86.something.
I am working silly amounts of Xmas wreaths etc so really not actually getting round to eating. Or moving .... Other than swearing when I prickle on holly anyway

hobbledyhoy · 03/12/2025 22:29

@Silverblue1985well done!

I’m still 11st 8.4lbs - will do a weigh in tomorrow. I’ve a feeling in my bones the scale will have a 7 in it!

Silverblue1985 · 03/12/2025 22:49

@hobbledyhoy thank you and fingers crossed for you for tomorrow’s weigh-in!

Office day for me tomorrow. Hope it’s not pouring down as I tend to walk from the station to the office and back (35-ish minutes each way) instead of taking the tube, so some good exercise there. (I HATE the tube at the best of times).

Bracing for lots of gossip as I’m not really in the office much, so a lot of people will have last seen me when I weighed around 15kg more, but that was probably less noticeable than 30+.
I much prefer my European colleagues way of just directly asking (most of them in an appropriate way, too). Last time I was in the office in September (not many were in then), one colleague went ā€œSilver, do you have new glasses? A new dress? New shoes?ā€ - mate, just ask what you really want to really ask…. I’m sure there then was talk behind me back.

Has anyone got any tips in getting back in to the swing of it! It's been a few weeks now and I just can't get my head back in to fasting at all. The weather is just throwing me off. I'm cold all the time so fasting just makes it worse. I've got every thermal going on daily šŸ™ˆ

Silverblue1985 · 04/12/2025 22:00

@MightyGoldBear I found that it needs to beā€clickā€ - no idea though how you can make that happen. Don’t ask how many failed attempts I’ve had over the years, until I was able to stick to it this year. Though even now - after losing over 30kg - it feels much more difficult to be still in a deficit. As you say, it’s cold, comfort food is tempting - and all the Christmas stuff around doesn’t help either.

Maybe try a different approach to fasting? It’s not for everyone, and that’s non-judgemental as I could NEVER do it. (Just as I couldn’t go without snacks).

declutteringmymind · 05/12/2025 08:02

I’ve lost 3lbs!!! Which, considering the shit show that is my life is brilliant.

I did start CBT which I think has helped but the shit hit the fan so that’s stopped.

glad to see everyone doing so well given the time of year.

Keep going!

AreYouBrandNew · 08/12/2025 09:57

@declutteringmymind well done!

keep going everyone. Last couple of weeks to get a pound or two off

ive put my calorie counter on front screen of phone though a bit patchy on tracking everything

in better news I’m exercising a lot more somehow and that is helping against tsunami of Christmas food. Busy as well which is helping with the odd mini fast

hobbledyhoy · 09/12/2025 21:43

Ffs - Still 11st 8.4 as of this morning.

I’ve cut out carbs as much as I can but my god I’d really love some crumpets just now!

hope everyone still keeping on, not long until Christmas now but reminding myself it’s still far enough away to be able to make a difference.

Chocolatebutton0 · 09/12/2025 23:41

@hobbledyhoy you’ll get there, well done for keeping going.

I’ve had the flu so I’ve gone down 3lbs due to low appetite. Would be great if I could keep them off but obviously will go straight back on as soon as I start eating again.

AreYouBrandNew · 16/12/2025 09:21

Ok - so Christmas has completely taken over. No disaster on the weight front but no loss either. I’m not going to make a stone by next week but am pleased with my approx 10lb loss.

I shall be back in the new year. Maybe need a new thread or title. Im sure there will be plenty of threads to choose from but I’ve found this group really helpful and supportive.

Plus the post types and frequency I need - I’m not super keen on threads where everyone posts what they’ve eaten each day as varies a lot depending on preferred approach.

so a huge thank you to everyone who joined the chat here and wishing you all the Christmas joy! Remember you are brilliant.

Silverblue1985 · 16/12/2025 18:50

I’m also still hovering around the 64kg - next year for the last 4kg to get to goal.

Had the munchies over the last couple of days… Looking forward to longer days in a few months, fewer rainy days (I had a right mud bath the other day when I stupidly went for a walk) etc.

@AreYouBrandNew Congratulations to your 10lbs, will look out for you on a thread next year! I’ve been not feeling ā€œat homeā€ when I looked at some of the threads for bigger losses over the year so never joined as most seemed to have been on WLI. Nothing wrong with this, but the challenges using them vs not using them are just very different.
Like you, I also don’t want a ā€œthat’s what I’ve eaten todayā€ type of post as it sometimes feels like a competition as who who has eaten the least.

Have a great Christmas everyone and I might see some of you next year on here somewhere!

Pixie2015 · 17/12/2025 20:22

Just got round to reading updates - well done to everyone who lost or maintained- i knew early on i wasnt going to make the stone so focussed on half a stone and have managed to go from 10.8 to 10.1 very slowly with the support of you all - lots of treats over next 2 weeks but determined to loose the other 7 pounds by the summer - thank you everyone and have an amazing Christmas x

AreYouBrandNew · 31/12/2025 19:42

AreYouBrandNew · 01/01/2026 21:00

Thanks - agree they are welcoming but tend to put posts in on actual food which isn’t my thing so looking at other thread options
