How about losing one stone by Christmas 🌲

Clitmandu · 14/09/2025 08:22

There are 14 weeks until Christmas. I’m thinking just one pound a week would crack a stone off and make a big difference.

One pound a week is doable and not too much pressure.

I am starting today, my plan is to stop being so bloody greedy and stop the mindless all day long scoffing.

Weigh in every Sunday.

Am off to dust off the scales and weigh myself, I will report back !

Would love some company.

I’m in! I weighed 12st 8 on Monday so it’ll be interesting to see what I weigh next Monday! We are currently trying for a baby and I’m weaning myself off of Mounjaro after losing 3 stone. My hunger has been insane! So need to reign it in. Have bought a lovely dress and would love to be 11 stone by Christmas Day!

Swearwolf · 17/09/2025 06:49

Can I join you? I’m currently 63.4kg (just under 10 stone) and am only 5’2ā€ so it’s still heavier than I should be. At my highest I was almost 68kg and it’s taken me two years to get down from there - I dip up and down, and the graph on my Garmin app is a very zig-zaggy line downwards.

When I’m in the right frame of mind I go in the right direction, at the moment I’m snacking too much and drinking too much alcohol. Now that term has started again I’m getting back into my regular exercise routine and need to do the same with food. My big challenge at the moment is that work policies have changed from permanent home working to three days in the office, so it’s harder to fit in exercise and easier to eat rubbish or buy lunch out.

I'm hoping to lose 5kg overall, but before Christmas I’d settle for 1.5. That’s about 3lb, and puts me at what used to be my absolute top weight!

AreYouBrandNew · 17/09/2025 09:02

@Slaygria well done on the 3 stone šŸ’Ŗ

QforCucumber · 17/09/2025 09:59

I'd love to join too, weighed in this morning at 12st 9lbs. I'm 5ft 5in and would like to be in the 10s as an end goal but have a holiday the last week of October and aim is to be below 12st 4lbs.

I've redownloaded the ww app this morning and started logging every morsel that passes my lips! let's do this!

Oooh welcome! We are the same height and pretty much the same weight- I’m 12st 8!

BadActingParsley · 17/09/2025 11:57

I'm 12st 8 and have been told by the GP to lose another stone (ideally a stone and half) (I've lost 2 from my heaviest which was my heaviest ever). It's to help lower my blood pressure.

I've been thinking what my triggers are. I eat healthily with lots of veg and fibre but snack on top.

I've cut out most of the snacking but I do stress eat. I need to go blind to biscuits at work and find something to do when I get home from work so I don't snack while making tea.

I go to the gym for weights but for health reasons think I need to do more cardio - walking uphill etc.

Anyway a pound a week seems achievable!

SJM1988 · 17/09/2025 12:05

I made this goal on Monday :D I want to do 8kg though which is slightly over a stone. I've faffed around jumping the same 2kg up and down since Jan.

My plan - calorie allowance set by a nutritionist, tracking on Nutrachecka, 3 gym classes a week and drink more water (I drink pretty much tea only!)

pmtorpmdd · 17/09/2025 12:10

I need to lose a stone , I’ve been massively comfort eating since losing twins in July after 3.5 years of secondary infertility. I haven’t even left the house much so have started walking a couple of miles each day and I’m trying not to eat chocolate daily and only at weekends ā˜¹ļø

Triceratopmeup · 17/09/2025 18:29

Count me in! A stone by Christmas would be fabulous & hopefully achievable... if I can reign in my portion sizes & wine intake. 🐽

Letsadoit · 18/09/2025 06:26

I’d love to lose 6kg/just under a stone by mid November!

That would put me at around 9 stone 7 and just back within the healthy BMI range for my height. I’m currently 66kg/10 stone 5.

I am planning to start back at the gym this weekend but I know it’s mainly about diet for me.

So I’d like to do one meal + one low cal snack a day for a week or so, then go up to two meals a day and one snack in the long term.

FlatErica · 18/09/2025 06:51

Great idea! I’m in!

Sarkykitty · 18/09/2025 07:02

count me in too! I’ve got 3rd one in total to lose. I rejoined slimming world last week and so far lost 2lb. I lost over 2.5stone following the plan and then my mum died 2years ago and since then I’ve slowly put on 1.5stone but after seeing the photos of me at a recent event, I didn’t recognise myself and it’s made me determined to get back on track again.

what’s made you decide now is the time?

The main changes I’ve made to what I’m eating is with how much bread, butter, honey and chocolate I was eating. I’ve started having fat free Greek yoghurt and raspberries for breakfast (instead of my usual toast with as much butter I can fit on and honey on top)
what changes are you making to help keep you on track?

I find breakfasts the hardest as I’m not a fan of cereal or porridge so toast was my go to.

blizymitzy · 18/09/2025 07:56

I would love to join you.
I’m 53 ,on Hrt and heavier than I’ve ever been.
we go away for 4 days next week to Spain but I’m determined to make healthy choices then and I’ve been trying to be more active.
I'm 5’6 and 12 st 8 lb.
our dd gets married in June so I’d love to be in the 10st’s for the wedding!

Togetheragain45 · 18/09/2025 08:04

I'd love to lose a stone by Christmas. I'm short, and being 2 stone overweight really shows. I often joke that I'm not really overweight, I'm just not tall enough.
My trouble is snacking during the night. I often can't sleep as I have restless legs, and even with medication, they sometimes keep me awake. So I have a snack to console myself.
We don't eat massive meals, but like an ice cream afterwards, so that will have to stop.

Pjean · 18/09/2025 08:55

I’m in. Ive been fit most of my life but I’ve lost track and focus lately since menopause kicked me in the ass. Need some serious motivation

BadActingParsley · 18/09/2025 09:17

I went to the pub last night - and where I'd normally have had a pint or a glass of wine I had a lime and soda (I'm not a massive drinker but like a social drink) but still dipped into the crisps and a random biscuit that wasn't even nice.

I need to get my head round weighing stuff so I can put it accurately in My Fitness Pal.

AreYouBrandNew · 18/09/2025 11:03

How’s everyone’s week going?

are people doing weekly weigh in - Sunday? Or daily? (I’ve been in habit of doing daily but think it might be good to switch)

RidingMyBike · 18/09/2025 11:07

I was doing Noom which has a daily weigh in, which I wasn’t keen on. Quite apart from anything else, the scales are in the bathroom and I don’t think it’s a good idea for my children to see me weighing myself everyday!

CautiousOptimist · 18/09/2025 11:08

Losing a stone by Christmas would be a fantastic start for me. I’m short and at least 2st overweight which really shows, it’s getting me down. I got out my autumn / winter clothes recently and loads didn’t fit :-( I’m determined that when I get my summer stuff back out in April I’ll be in a better place.
Weighed in today at 74.1kg :-(

AreYouBrandNew · 18/09/2025 14:06

@CautiousOptimist the wardrobe thing is stressful isn’t it. One of my motivations is my ā€˜clothes noise’ has got really bad. I feel like I have nothing to wear all the time. I’ve bought clothes I don’t really like out of desperation.

Daffydoll · 18/09/2025 14:12

I would also like to join. Starting weight is 12st 3 and I’m 5ft 6. A stone by Xmas would be amazing. I always start these things but don’t complete. I’m going to try really hard this time. Snacks are my downfall.

YetiRosetti · 18/09/2025 14:21

I’m in! Weighed in at 10st12.5 on Monday. I plan to do 5:2 (one day per week so 6:1 really as I can’t bear it twice!), and try to up my protein intake and end the mindless scoffing. My husband left me and my confidence is at an all time low so putting on a stone has really affected me. I’ve just downloaded my fitness palm- lets go!

QforCucumber · 18/09/2025 14:44

Day 3 of WW - and the stark realisation that every single day I've eaten the whole day worth of points by 3pm. Going to have to be creative with tonight's tea!

hope the rest of you are having a better week!

CautiousOptimist · 18/09/2025 14:48

@AreYouBrandNewYes, so disheartening! I’ve had to buy a couple of new things to get me through this autumn, and what a stupid waste of money when I have so many clothes already, it’s just that half don’t fit!
Would it be less depressing to give away or sell all the size 10 stuff which will probably never fit again I ask myself? I can’t bring myself to do it.

AreYouBrandNew · 18/09/2025 14:54

@Sarkykitty now is the time because

its showing in my health - BP up, cholesterol up. Kidneys and liver a bit erratic.

all clothes look rubbish

my body hates it - knees twinge/back hurts

I’m so flipping over hot all the time - just sweated through a yoga class

my engagement/wedding rings don’t fit and I’m not having them resized for this weight

my DS10 wants to do running training and I can’t help pace him.

It’s like wearing a weighted vest all the time.

it’s got to go.
