How about losing one stone by Christmas 🌲

Clitmandu · 14/09/2025 08:22

There are 14 weeks until Christmas. I’m thinking just one pound a week would crack a stone off and make a big difference.

One pound a week is doable and not too much pressure.

I am starting today, my plan is to stop being so bloody greedy and stop the mindless all day long scoffing.

Weigh in every Sunday.

Am off to dust off the scales and weigh myself, I will report back !

Would love some company.

for the first time ever I’m learning how to move on if a day or two have been a write off (can’t be bothered to track or just eating over maintenance). Getting back to it is the main thing. Shuffling a bit more down a tiny bit at a time. Interested where I’ll be in 6 months..

I'm hoping so as I was just starting to feel something like progress in my weight/ what's in the mirror. Can't let it now be downhill till Xmas and lose another 12 months of happiness with myself etc.

But I didn't get dessert at pub lunch today. Not usually how it goes

Harrysmummy246 · 01/11/2025 09:34

Nearly said **CK it and threw in the towel this morning. But didn't . Tracked breakfast. Now off to work then training. I don't usually have clients on weekends but only way I can fit in tuition with someone who works all week.

Silverblue1985 · 01/11/2025 09:34

Happy weekend!

I’m back and scales say 800g more than two weeks ago, which is less than expected. Though I did walk a lot in Austria / at work, which probably helped, and my body fat percentage seems to be down again šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø
I went on a right shopping spree, got new boots (I can wear normal knee high boots again for the first winter in years, without buying extra-wide ones, hooray!), some ankle boots, a new hiking rucksack, two lovely backpacks and a new 3-in-1 jacket, which I can do up, but which is a bit tight still. Motivation to get back into it as I want to wear it in six weeks.

Yesterday I had ticket for a light show event and we went for dinner afterwards - my main wasn’t bad as I opted for grilled octopus on mashed potatoes, but I did have most of the mezze platter starter (taramasalata, tzaziki, feta, spicy creamy feta, hummus, olives) so that most definitely ruined a reasonably healthy meal, lol.

MightyGoldBear · 01/11/2025 10:14

I'm feeling really positive that I've found a way that works for me. Doing 8/16 fasts everyday. (Im only 3 days in so might be speaking to soon )
I needed something that took all the heads pace out of it I just can't calorie count or do much exercise consistently with young children so using a fasting app just feels lovely and simple.

Down to 11.3 so really hoping I can see 10 on the scales soon. Really hoping I can get down to a good spot for Christmas then enjoy Christmas food without worrying too much. Then I hope I can just be maintaining rather than losing that will be lovely.

Well done everyone keep going šŸ’ŖšŸ’ŖšŸ’Ŗ

AreYouBrandNew · 01/11/2025 10:41

Well done everyone - sounds like you are all putting in lots of effort and find ways to make it work for you

AreYouBrandNew · 01/11/2025 10:44

I’ve been for my first run in a while this morning, training for 10k in 3 weeks time. Will see how much closer I can get to that stone off

AreYouBrandNew · 02/11/2025 07:12

Good luck with any weigh ins today

Harrysmummy246 · 02/11/2025 12:42

86.9kg this morning but I knew last week was lower after lack of food etc on a race day. Club time trial this morning and I was faster than last month then faster again on the second round. I'm starting to feel slightly less flabby and more strong and so much better in myself.

The small changes are starting to add up. I have a goal to be under 86kg by end of the month then under 85 for Xmas (which is top end of the boat ideal range so is first major success goal)

NovemberNoExcuses · 02/11/2025 17:26

Can I join in too please? Clothes too tight, not exercising enough and drinking too much wine so austerity November is here! Am going to try and do some sort of exercise every day (even if it’s just walk) and eat healthily, no UPFs no booze.

Nov 1st weight in 11st 2 3/4 Goal - 10st

went for a 5k jog today for the first time in 6 months and also went for a family walk so nearly 15k steps as per my iPhone (however accurate that is?!) Salmon salad planned for dinner

onwards and downwards!

AreYouBrandNew · 03/11/2025 11:19

@NovemberNoExcuses welcome! Good username

wushing everyone a good lean week

i’m hoping for a positive 2/3 weeks of lots of steps and good tracking for some good progress

MightyGoldBear · 04/11/2025 10:22

11.2 today slowly creeping down.

What's everyone's plans for Christmas eating wise? I'm a little concerned I might finally see 10 on the scales and then Christmas will happen and I'll be back up to 11.
I want to enjoy Christmas though šŸ¤”

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/11/2025 11:03

@MightyGoldBeari’m the same. I think I will really try my best to get a bit off before Christmas then just accept it is what it is. I love Christmas, I love baking and all the nice things we have at that time of year so it is a shame not to indulge a bit. One thing that is saving me is being gluten free, I figure if I just don’t buy stuff then it’s not there. Isn’t it funny how I can be so strong with that but I can’t tell myself the same about sugar. But still, no mince pies or bread or pastry things will really help me. I am going to make a very small gf Christmas cake and pudding. Alcohol is always the big weight gainer for me, so trying to limit that. We usually manage to offset some gains with long dog walks and a couple of runs over Christmas week.

Harrysmummy246 · 04/11/2025 11:51

@MightyGoldBear I've managed to wangle only having to spend 3.5 days with 'people' rather than me, DH, DS and DDogs, which also means plenty of time to squeeze in training etc. Aiming for moderate portions, not wine every night and see where it ends up.

Harrysmummy246 · 04/11/2025 11:53

No idea how but 86.3kg first thing this morning before coach pushed me waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of the comfortable outing I had hoped for. That's apparently 13st 8 but more importantly, almost 2kg off and the gentle control of intake via tracking, plus training, is doing the necessary. Felt like it was never going to start shifting.

MiddlingMarch · 04/11/2025 12:06

Last week was a miss for me, very tired after holiday so I decided to start back again yesterday. Holding steady at 86kg.

The big thing for me is to just not eat biscuits or sweets or cake. I can't eat one or a little bit. Once rhat becomes normal it will get easier.

Christmas... future me will figure that out 🤣

moofolk · 04/11/2025 12:09

In my experience I can go up & down a few pounds during the day so a pound a week is difficult to track.

I did see a recommendation to weigh daily & take a weekly average which makes sense.

AreYouBrandNew · 04/11/2025 16:00

@MightyGoldBear great news on the creeping down loss

going to try and keep going downwards for as long as I can. Busy with kids at school, possible new job and no eating Christmas things like concerts and light trails.

Will try and limit my massive feast days to one for each side of the family.

limit the overbuying of mince pies etc (possibly why I ended up where I am).

im not a massive drinker at home which helps but I do love mulled wine season

AreYouBrandNew · 04/11/2025 16:01

@Harrysmummy246 so pleased for you! Glad you are seeing a shift downwards and finding what works

AreYouBrandNew · 04/11/2025 16:06

@MiddlingMarch well done for holding. Keep going!

@moofolk agree it might seem hard to track 1lb a week but I agree with using the average. I’m weighing most days as I don’t like the weekly surprise/disappointment.

It’s definitely not a straight line down but I can see the trend and it does tally with my deficit tracking (the science works, who knew 😬)

Silverblue1985 · 04/11/2025 19:00

Well done everyone!

I will be with my mother for two weeks over Christmas, and she’s a feeder. And it’s not in the UK so there will be lots of things I cannot normally get that I want to eat, none of which are healthy, lol.
She also does not really do walks or anything, and my stepfather, who I used to go for walks with, has recently been diagnosed with COPD and is struggling, so no walking buddy for me (I’m working some of the time there as well).
I will take it as it comes (and take my Omeprazole with me!)

Back down to 65.3kg this morning, so back into the right direction.

NovemberNoExcuses · 04/11/2025 20:22

So far so good for me this week, I have managed to do some sort of exercise every day and have eaten to plan. It’s so much easier for me if I write down the night before what I plan to do/eat the next day in my phone notes, I just seem to do it! no idea why?!

fireworks tomorrow night so planning a mackerel and avo salad before we go instead of greasy van food šŸ˜‡

MightyGoldBear · 05/11/2025 09:40

Still 11.3 today I was hoping 11.2 but I'm just inpatient šŸ˜‚
I think I will continue fasting over Christmas. Enjoy the food but be conscious of not going crazy. Continue to weigh myself so I can monitor. Hopefully go for some lovely Christmas walks too.

AreYouBrandNew · 06/11/2025 08:45

Pretty good week here. Lots of exercise and steps and an ok deficit. Aiming to get deficit up to 600/700 now that we’ve finished the biscoff traybake I made 🤪

hovering around 13st 4/5. Need a whoosh soon

AreYouBrandNew · 06/11/2025 08:45

Keep going everyone!
