How about losing one stone by Christmas 🌲

Clitmandu · 14/09/2025 08:22

There are 14 weeks until Christmas. I’m thinking just one pound a week would crack a stone off and make a big difference.

One pound a week is doable and not too much pressure.

I am starting today, my plan is to stop being so bloody greedy and stop the mindless all day long scoffing.

Weigh in every Sunday.

Am off to dust off the scales and weigh myself, I will report back !

Would love some company.

I'm still here. Just not really feeling the motivation at the moment. Not sure how to get my mojo back. Any advice much appreciated.
I'm thinking maybe doing a fast day at least once a week might help me. I find counting calories just too overwhelming so having less sugar and sweet treats is about as much brain space I can give to it. It's now really cold too so really hard to not want to curl up in bed with treats šŸ™ˆ

I'm not gaining weight so that's something just not losing it and feels like Christmas is getting very close 😬

AreYouBrandNew · 21/10/2025 21:08

@MightyGoldBear definitely worth finding what works for you. Fasting is a good option if you can avoid compensating.

here to help with motivation if we can!

I found it helpful to put a brain dump in here of why I was doing (thanks everyone for bearing with me on that)

AreYouBrandNew · 21/10/2025 21:10

Slightly less good day today šŸ˜‘ definitely overdid it yesterday with too large deficit. More doable around 500-600 deficit so will get back to that. Got a big walk planned tomorrow so space for some extra food.

TeamToeBeans · 22/10/2025 06:59

I’ve come to realise that I’m going to have to do some exercise. I’m eating around 1200 calories a day, which is TDEE for me, and struggling to get it any lower, so obviously I’m not losing much.

I already walk to work, but that’s less than ten minutes, so I’m going to have to find time to get some exercise in. The swimming pool isn’t far away so I’ll find out session times, but it seems like the real calorie burn comes from running 😩 I haven’t got on well with running in the past, but it might have to happen.

thelongandwindingwind · 22/10/2025 07:01

I’m hoping that it’s just scales or water weight as my scales say I’m up 3 pounds from yesterday despite eating 1200 calories!

deeahgwitch · 22/10/2025 09:05

I’m putting on the lbs not losing them. 🄲
I need to restart.

Harrysmummy246 · 22/10/2025 13:08

I'm officially stopping pretending I can do it without tracking. I've logged back into lose it, restarted the new plan. I hate doing it but it's the only way for me- given I exercise 6 days a week, work outdoors on my feet a fair amount, walk DDogs at least half the days (DH does the others, they're not neglected!!)

AreYouBrandNew · 22/10/2025 17:03

@TeamToeBeans the steps definitely help burn more off and the fastest way to get them is running (tricky if running not your thing though). Walking more will always help and swimming is great all body

AreYouBrandNew · 22/10/2025 17:12

@thelongandwindingwind hoping it all whooshes off again soon

@deeahgwitch good luck with getting back on track - go for it!

@Harrysmummy246 im a tracking bore šŸ˜‚it’s really helped me. Got so much quicker at it now I’m more on track and don’t overly stress if I’m out

I don't stress if I'm out but I know this is what I need to do in order to stop myself just mindlessly eating things

I'm currently maintaining beautifully, just about 10kg over where I would like to be.

Today is all in and that is more what matters right now. I've logged it.

Weights have been done after my planting up job took much less time than I thought

Chocolatebutton0 · 23/10/2025 00:05

I’m late to the party but I’d love to join. I’ve been feeling really miserable about my weight, none of my clothes look nice on me at the moment. My ideal weight is about 10lbs - 1st down, if makes a huge difference to how I look but I haven’t had the motivation to lose it for the last few years.

Coccinelle2 · 23/10/2025 10:40

Hi, I'd also like to join - have been doing it myself but could use some company! I'm 73kg and want to get to about 65kg

AreYouBrandNew · 23/10/2025 13:29

@Coccinelle2 @Chocolatebutton0 welcome! Good time to get started šŸ¤ž

hope everyone is having a good day

Infracat · 23/10/2025 23:21

Please can I join. I am also struggling with no clothes that fit. Just feel a mess because of my weight. I'd love to lose at least 8lb by Xmas if I could. Ill be calorie counting.

Infracat · 24/10/2025 09:19

I've weighed myself this morning. I weigh 11st 11lb, at 5ft 5in thats a lot for me. My goal is to get to 11st by Xmas. I'd like to lose more but don't think thats possible with what time is left now.

AreYouBrandNew · 24/10/2025 13:07

@Infracat welcome! Still time to get down a bit pre Christmas šŸ¤ž

xogossipgirlxo · 24/10/2025 13:28

Hello, can I join please? I’m 69.5kg and would like to hit 64.5 by christmas. I am feeling so gross, none of my clothes fit. Tiredness of having young child, lots of commitments and zero time to myself took its toll. When I am tired I tend to snack mindlessly. This time I decided to be realistic. I have max 20 minutes for exercise daily (if any), but I will try to control my eating. I was always so good with looking after myself, I was 56kg and omg felt so attractive, it’s painful to look at old picturesšŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

Letsadoit · 24/10/2025 20:02

Haven’t posted for a while here but my weight loss has stalled a bit. I’m not just going by what I saw on the scale but also I was running an event recently and the organisers took pictures. I looked bigger than I’d have liked, especially my upper half.

I’d love to be able to add more exercise /walking into my routine but I’m having to rely almost exclusively on managing weight through diet due to a long term injury.

I was doing 2/3 meals a day, thinking of switching to one large meal a day and two pieces of fruit for the next 2 months.

WhereDoBrokenHeartsGo · 24/10/2025 22:01

I posted ages ago and have been following along. I had a weigh in at my gym this morning and lost 3.7kg in total since I started 5 weeks ago. Im so pleased but it has been such hard work. I’ve been dieting and going to the gym twice a week so every gram has been hard fought for! I’m aiming for another 5kg for Christmas but that’s probably too ambitious at my current rate!

AreYouBrandNew · 25/10/2025 07:37

@WhereDoBrokenHeartsGo congrats on the loss! Great to hear that your hard work has paid off.

AreYouBrandNew · 25/10/2025 07:40

@xogossipgirlxo welcome! Good luck with getting started.

@Letsadoit ive seen a couple of other people doing one meal a day as part of a fasting routine. Hope you can find something that suits you

Harrysmummy246 · 25/10/2025 13:39

Well I am logging. It's grim but effective as I do very much then consider what I eat and plan ahead more. Was over yesterday but dinner was a complete unknown until we got there- hellish traffic into Liverpool to watch John Bishop. But I didn't fancy paying their prices for wine so that was a win.
Weight has stabilised to 87.0 again but hopeful to achieve an interim goal of under 85kg by Xmas.

Silverblue1985 · 25/10/2025 18:41

Welcome @Coccinelle2 @Chocolatebutton0 @Infracat @xogossipgirlxo

@Letsadoit Definitely worth finding what works for you!
@WhereDoBrokenHeartsGo That’s great, congratulations!
@Harrysmummy246 I found logging a pain initially, but it then quickly became a habit. It’s also getting quicker once the app knows your regulars, you’ve created your go-to recipes etc. Though I must admit that, if I cook something that’s in a cook book which gives calories I just use what’s in there. I’m sure there’s always a difference, but I then can’t be bothered to enter all my ingredients/ create the recipe in the app.

Silverblue1985 · 25/10/2025 18:52

After a week on around maintenance (maybe a bit more on a couple of days), I’m back in my deficit. Around 1350kcal yesterday, 1500kcal today (but I’ve walked 30k steps, about 450am ascent) - I couldn’t resist the sweet pretzel, which had a whopping 460kcal 😳But it was delicious.

More walking tomorrow, need to find somewhere nice to go. From Monday it’s then work, in a small-ish place with not much opportunity to walk given the early dark evenings… However, there are plenty of shops; I could previously only ever buy in one which specialised in larger sizes, now I can shop everywhere and that’s going to be dangerous, lol. I’ve taken my large suitcase just in case, haha.
Also on expenses from dinner tomorrow, there is a lovely salad chain which I might pay a visit to… Like the salad project, but much better!
