How about losing one stone by Christmas 🌲

Clitmandu · 14/09/2025 08:22

There are 14 weeks until Christmas. I’m thinking just one pound a week would crack a stone off and make a big difference.

One pound a week is doable and not too much pressure.

I am starting today, my plan is to stop being so bloody greedy and stop the mindless all day long scoffing.

Weigh in every Sunday.

Am off to dust off the scales and weigh myself, I will report back !

Would love some company.

I’m holding on to my 6lb loss with maintenance after a flurry of social eating 😬

booking in for another 10k in Nov and need to up my deficit

Chocolatebutton0 · 26/10/2025 12:41

Had my first weigh in this morning and 2lbs off which I wasn’t expecting. I usually weigh every day when I’m trying to lose weight but trying the once a week for the first time.

Pixie2015 · 26/10/2025 12:41

Another maintain week - but i imagine next week will be a gain after week off with kids, on the plus side step count likely to be up !!! Good luck everyone again

Harrysmummy246 · 26/10/2025 17:17

Weighed myself after I got back from racing (so not eaten enough or drunk really enough water) and 86.6 so I'm taking that!;
Also won my event, now home and about to go and try and warm back through

RidingMyBike · 26/10/2025 20:16

Weighed today and I’m down to 73kg, from 76kg. Which I think is about 6.5lbs.

I’m quite pleased with this although it’s more related to work being so stressful at the moment I’ve lost interest in food.

RoseBetts · 26/10/2025 22:08

Has anyone tried Nutriseed? I don’t want to do weight loss jabs, or batch cook. I’m vegetarian. I’d be happy to lose 20 pounds.

AreYouBrandNew · 27/10/2025 07:43

@RidingMyBike well done though hope the work stress doesn’t completely overwhelm

AreYouBrandNew · 27/10/2025 07:44

@Pixie2015 im also going to focus on lots of half term steps.

QueenStevie · 27/10/2025 08:10

Hi, I'm too late to lose a stone before Christmas now but if I could lose half a stone by then, I would be happy.

I am 43. Metabolism definitely slowed due to age and medication. I am 12st 8 and 5'8" which is my heaviest ever. I would ultimately like to be 10st 10 but not sure I will ever see that again!

I just like food..I enjoy eating. I always think about food. I think I do have some sort of food addiction. If I know there is something yummy to eat in the kitchen, I just can't rest until I have eaten it. But, for example, if there were two cakes in the kitchen and I was here on my own, I wouldn't rest until I had eaten them both, one would not be enough to satisfy me because I'd know the other one was there.

I am also naturally lazy. I am busy at work so that helps but, at home, I sit on the sofa and watch TV. I need to up my activity. I did go to the gym yesterday for the first time in...well, a long time and I can feel the muscles today! I did actually enjoy it once I was there l, I just have to force myself to get up and go!

AreYouBrandNew · 21/10/2025 21:08

@MightyGoldBear definitely worth finding what works for you. Fasting is a good option if you can avoid compensating.

here to help with motivation if we can!

I found it helpful to put a brain dump in here of why I was doing (thanks everyone for bearing with me on that)

Thank you.
I'm holding on and just trying ny best everyday. Had lots of birthday celebrations so more treaty food about which is difficult but I don't want to not indulge a little otherwise I'll just give up all together šŸ™ˆ

Just so hard to keep to a routine or exercise with little ones. I already feel exhausted and bored most of the time which doesn't help with wanting to eat less or healthyšŸ™ˆ

deeahgwitch · 27/10/2025 11:01

I have put on 4lbs since I first posted on this thread but it has kept me motivated and I will continue to try and lose the weight.

MiddlingMarch · 27/10/2025 12:04

Back from holiday! I've put on 2kg, not quite everything I lost which is a better state than I had feared. Whilst we walked everywhere, I barely bothered a vegetable or piece of fruit for two weeks and instead ate mostly cake, pizza, fries and pastries.

Back to calorie deficit and exercise. Looking forward to it to be honest.

Harrysmummy246 · 27/10/2025 12:36

Unintentionally not had breakfast today since DS declined a trip to the naice garden centre when I picked him up from my parents. DH did bring me a coffee in bed though.

So leftover soup and some toast it is.
Nephews arrive on weds so it's going to be a bit of a manic week. With lots of steps but also probably food too. And wine when they leave 🫣🫣

Training isn't happening today after yesterday's race and the fact boat is still in bits on a trailer but hoping to get out tomorrow

AreYouBrandNew · 27/10/2025 21:41

@RoseBetts soneone definitely was but I can’t find the post. Think they were using up last lot due to cost

@deeahgwitch @MiddlingMarch good luck with getting back on track. I’m willing as many of us on as possible!

better day here. No exercise, still got autumn bug. But not too hungry so kept to around 750 deficit which is prob max for me. 900 deficit last week did not end well šŸ˜‚

AreYouBrandNew · 27/10/2025 21:45

@QueenStevie welcome!

@Harrysmummy246 well done on your win and your loss!

@MightyGoldBear keep going with the little changes. It will add up

Silverblue1985 · 27/10/2025 22:46

@KrazyboutKillian Well done, 4lbs is amazing!
@AreYouBrandNew Glad to hear you maintained, good result after lots of social eating!
@Chocolatebutton0 Congrats! Keep at it :)
@Pixie2015 @AreYouBrandNew Good luck for half-term week!
@Harrysmummy246 Congratulations for your win!
@RidingMyBike Congrats to you as well! I’m jealous as I’m the complete opposite- stress = want food for me! Stress at work is never good though, so hope this lessens for you soon.
@RoseBetts Personally I don’t know anyone, but beyond losing a couple of kilos for a special event or something, I’m very sceptical as it doesn’t build long-term habits (and is most likely frustrating as so restrictive). I couldn’t do it, but also not sure it’s successful in the longer term.
@QueenStevie Welcome and well done on the gym! I’ve heard a professional (and very successful) sportsperson say the other day that everyone needs to remember that you never feel worse after sport, always better. I know it’s so tough to get going sometimes!
@deeahgwitch Another day, another opportunity to change things!
@MiddlingMarch Good luck for the re-start! Some of this may also not be real weight gain.

Silverblue1985 · 27/10/2025 22:55

I’ve eaten around maintenance again today, and tomorrow the team want to take me out for lunch. That won’t end well šŸ˜‚

It is just so difficult to eat in a deficit when not at home; I mainly had salads for dinner (no dressings), but breakfast/lunch is always carb-heavy.
More so in Austria! And I even resisted all the lovely bakery treats… And the bowl of celebrations and the nut mix they put right in front of me today in the office. Cruel!
I am also tired with long days (got back to the hotel at 8pm today, had my salad, worked until gone 10pm) and tomorrow is a 7.30am start. All while my ā€œday jobā€ is piling up. Tiredness + Stress = I am feeling hungry all the time.

Travelling back on Thursday, I still need to have my Schnitzel so seriously back at it from Friday. And I have to as I notice more GERD symptoms again.

AreYouBrandNew · 28/10/2025 08:58

@Silverblue1985 good luck with last bit

i’m down another lb today
SW 13st 12
CW 13st 4

Harrysmummy246 · 28/10/2025 10:19

Not feeling like getting out in the boat today, often fine to train on my own but not today for whatever reason. May well go down the drive to the garage and do my weights (goal is to deadlift equivalent of rowing partner this week!) though along with a lot of cajoling DS to tidy for his cousin's.
Not beating myself up about having waffles for breakfast as I've been wanting to for days and I'm tracking it so that's the important part. That's already revealing that meals are ok if I think about portion size, it's what happens between meals. The after dinner grazing has reduced so lots of steps in right direction.

Various things are starting to fit differently so I'm feeling positive. Thanks for all lovely comments re the win at the weekend too.

QueenStevie · 29/10/2025 12:30

Yesterday wasn't a great day diet wise, although I didn't go much over calories, I just made some poor choices nutrition wise.

Today, I have lost 4lbs according to the scales, although I think that will be a lot of water. I'm expecting that to fluctuate but I does spur me on when I have had a loss and I feel more inclined to stay on the diet wagon. Going to MILs tomorrow so I imagine there will be cake which will be a test of willpower.

MightyGoldBear · 30/10/2025 07:59

I'm starting intermittent fasting today even paid and downloaded a app. I'm hoping because I paid for it it will make me use it so its not been a waste šŸ¤žšŸ»
I ate late last night so can't eat till 1.30 today I'm hoping to use my stubborn streak to get me through šŸ˜‚
Hope everyone else is doing ok. It's certainly trickier with the colder weather.

Harrysmummy246 · 31/10/2025 15:07

yesterday and today are written off for tracking never mind how much has been consumed. Back to normal eating and actually exercising tomorrow.

AreYouBrandNew · 31/10/2025 15:50

@QueenStevie well done on your loss!

AreYouBrandNew · 31/10/2025 15:54

My week has been a bit all over the place. A bit off track as weather has thrown off walking/running plans plus still wiped out from virus.

better today with tracking - good luck anyone and everyone dodging Halloween sugar overload (I’m not much of a sweets person so should be fine. Christmas/Easter chocs are my preferred feasts)

I got a bit keen and bought some jeans in a smaller size. I can zip them up but not quite ready to wear them. Interested to see if they fit by Christmas. Onwards and downwards..

for the first time ever I’m learning how to move on if a day or two have been a write off (can’t be bothered to track or just eating over maintenance). Getting back to it is the main thing. Shuffling a bit more down a tiny bit at a time. Interested where I’ll be in 6 months..
