Welcome to anyone who is looking to get lighter this year!

I’m mid 40s, have 2-3st to lose. Started weight loss in last 3/4 months but it’s bounced back up a bit over Christmas.

Doing some exercise, tracking calories in app, not doing WLI though check those threads with interest.

A new accountability thread here to keep in touch with people who are doing the same.

I’ll be popping in here most days to say hi and check in for support but won’t be putting detailed info about what I’ve eaten.

Weigh in - I like to weigh every day but know to average it out over a few days so don’t post daily weigh in here, just weekly ish.

It is happening this year 💪

I'll join. I've been on a weight loss journey for 18mths. Down 37lb, 13 to go! Will take me a year I think.

raspberrysparkles · 02/01/2026 07:31

Hello! I have put on a stone since taking HRT and struggle to fit into my clothes. I have stopped drinking, exercise most days but feel hungry all the time … cheese, bread and granola are my downfall. Determined to get slim again! Will pop back with exact weight and ideal weight soon! Daffodil

TheDogsMother · 02/01/2026 07:33

Can I join ? About 1 stone to lose which has crept on post hysterectomy (HRT not allowed).

C4rls · 02/01/2026 07:33

I’ll join too, down a stone but put 4 lbs back on over Christmas. So 7 in total left to lose!

PhyllisTwigg · 02/01/2026 07:42

It is happening this year 💪

Yes it is!

Early last year I lost 20lb on MJ. Thought I'd then go it alone for the last 7lb but have put 7lb on instead 🙄

Going to have a go at eating less sugar/bad fats, taking vitamins (why do I forget my Vit D?) and doing Pilates, aerobic and strength exercises.

Won't be easy for a biscuit addicted lazy coach potato like me so glad to have some support and accountability. Thanks OP.

My nutritionist recommended 25% protein, 25% carbs and 50% veg on every meal you can.

I was 46 when I first spoke to him, 5'5 and 15st 2lb. I'm now 48, 12st 4lb. Want to get to 11st 7lb before seeing how I feel, BUT, I already feel so much better.

I will add I do walk 3 miles minimum per day and weight training 3 x weekly too. Just about to add horse riding into the mix.

Size40Shoes · 02/01/2026 08:56

@raspberrysparkles sorry forgot to add I had a full hysterectomy in December 2024 and am on HRT.

I am also calorie counting right now (1550 per day).

raspberrysparkles · 02/01/2026 09:52

@Size40Shoeshello! Worse than I thought … eleven stone and five pounds .. target is ten stone and five pounds! Out for a freezing cold walk .. good luck to us all! Will report in tomorrow Daffodil

Pixie2015 · 02/01/2026 11:10

Happy new year - i might succeed in losing the stone before Christmas if i start now not doing post Christmas weigh till next week x

Silverblue1985 · 02/01/2026 11:11

I’ll join - thank you for starting the thread!

I (early 40s) have lost around 31kg last year (4.9-ish stone) until October, though I’m sure I’ve put on a bit over Christmas as was being fed by my mother for two weeks 😂
Back on Sunday so have not weighed yet, and may not for a while as it’ll just drag me down. (I lost the first 15-ish kg without weighing).
I have a normal BMI now but would like to get down to 60-ish kg, that was another 5kg before Christmas but make it a stone now!

I will reduce calories again (1300-ish) and have got myself a treadmill Black Friday to be able to be more active during the darker months. I’ll probably have the challenge of some extended travelling for work in the first half of the year.

Good luck everyone!

chalkyc2 · 02/01/2026 11:14

Yes here for this. Need to lose 25kg. Feeling bleak as I’m a classic yoyo dieter and it’s so dull and depressing! I was 12kg lighter this time last year!

Oh well. Better get to it!!

MightyGoldBear · 02/01/2026 12:32

Thanks for starting a new thread.

I haven't weighed myself over Christmas but I feel huge so will be back to fasting tomorrow.
I'm hoping it will be easier over January now we have got Christmas out the way.

WeeWeegieChick · 02/01/2026 12:36

I'm definitely up for joining in.

45 and 11st 4. Wanting go lose a stone but more than anything to get fit.

neveradullmoment99 · 02/01/2026 13:19

I started on the other thread then failed miserably as I underwent an op and had zero motivation. Am determined this year once I get rid of all the cheese in the fridge!
Hope its ok to join!

neveradullmoment99 · 02/01/2026 13:20

I'll also post my weight and height later but ive about 2 stone to lose :(

Ohwhatshoestobuy · 02/01/2026 13:31

Interested. I have a couple of stone to lose but this time round I’ve made the decision to not weigh myself at all until I feel I’m at my desired weight. So I’ll be going off of my intuition rather than the scale.
determined to be back in my smaller summer clothes this year!!

HurdyGurdy19 · 02/01/2026 14:10

I'll join in please. I'm in my mid-60s and short (5ft 2ins / 1.57m).

TL:DR - fat and frumpy. Want to lose a lot of weight - probably around 4stone / 25.4kg. Referred by GP to weight management and wellness programmes, so hoping for good progress.

_

At my heaviest, in January last year, I was 16st 9lbs / 105.5kg / BMI 42.9. I am so ashamed to even write that down, but I need accountability, so there it is. By the beginning of September I was only down to 16st 1lb / 1.02kg / BMI 41.4.

Then in September I was really unwell, and couldn't eat for about three weeks, so weight did start to come off. That was my kick start and when I had recovered and regained my appetite, I started calorie counting, and I am now at 14st 4lbs / 90.7kg / BMI 36.8. Still shockingly high numbers, but heading in the right direction.

I don't know what weight to aim for, so I'm going to judge it by my clothes and how I feel when I look in the mirror (currently, I feel repulsed!). I started off wearing size 24 jeans, and I have just bought new jeans in a size 20, and they feel almost a bit loose, so that is encouraging.

I asked my GP if there was a dietician attached to the practice as the nutracheck app had me at 1400 calories a day, but when I went onto a TDEE checker, it was suggesting 2100 a day, and I didn't know what I should be aiming for. The GP has referred me to their weight management programme and also to the lifestyle programme - I have my first session of 12 on Tuesday next week. 15 minutes talk about different areas of wellness, followed by a 45 minute low-impact circuit class. Hopefully after 12 weeks I will have shifted some of the bulk and will feel more confident about potentially joining a gym.

Looking forward to being able to give, as well as receive, support from this thread and other posters.

Emmadaily · 02/01/2026 15:18

Hello,

Can I join please?

Lost 22 lb last year, 14 is back. I am going to up my walking, stop the sneaky chocolate on the way home, cut back on wine and plan meals a bit better. I work in a school planning cover so my "lunch break" is usually trouble shooting so going to take myself of timetable more so I can eat (hopefully sorting the snacking problem).

My gorgeous neice is getting married in March so i need to drop at least a stone by then to fit into something lovely.

Aiming for 7lb per month to begin with.

MightyGoldBear · 03/01/2026 10:09

Weighed myself today. I'm 11.4 stone. up from 10.12 before Christmas. So not awful I don't think considering I did just indulge and took time off thinking about weight, fasting, healthy food at all etc

I'm back to fasting since last night. I'm having dinner around 5.30 then nothing more after 6pm till 10am today. Come Monday I'll be cycling every day too.

I'm not sure I want to set any deadlines as such but I am hoping by summer I'll be nearer to 10 stone/9.5 🤞🏻

sheilawastak3n · 03/01/2026 18:25

I would love to join. Will start tomorrow with a weigh in and would like to do a weekly weigh in with an online group for accountability. Have 7-14lbs to lose. Considering eating same things mid week to make calorie counting simpler.

AreYouBrandNew · 03/01/2026 19:58

hope everyone doing ok. I’m not back into calorie counting yet. Think I’m going to have to start Tues when DC back at school

NormalForNorfoIk · 04/01/2026 08:22

Also keen to join, have lost 5kg since mid-October just doing calorie counting but also enjoying my food so it hasn't been much of a hardship. Although I have swapped breakfasts for a meal replacement shake which I am really enjoying as I am not a breakfast person.

Small gain of 400g over Christmas, not mad at that. Definitely now have better habits with portion control and just having one Ferrero Rocher rather than four!!

Already get 10k steps per day (dog walking and have walking pad I use with my standing desk whilst WFH), want to add in some light weight or body weight workouts so plan to trawl YouTube soon.
