How about losing one stone by Christmas 🌲

Clitmandu · 14/09/2025 08:22

There are 14 weeks until Christmas. I’m thinking just one pound a week would crack a stone off and make a big difference.

One pound a week is doable and not too much pressure.

I am starting today, my plan is to stop being so bloody greedy and stop the mindless all day long scoffing.

Weigh in every Sunday.

Am off to dust off the scales and weigh myself, I will report back !

Would love some company.

Yes please, I’ll join! Although don’t want to post my starting weight. I did weigh in for the first time last week and was shocked. Need a fresh start today!

amibeth1 · 14/09/2025 08:48

That sounds like a good plan to me! Current weight is 78kg. I’m on the September thread and I’m trying to do 10,000 + steps a day and eating lots more fruits and vegetables.

Snowfairyxx · 14/09/2025 08:52

I would love to loose a stone by Christmas. I need to stop eating as much sugar and extra snacks I don't need. Also more exercise would be good.

MagicSpaceTurtle · 14/09/2025 09:02

Yes, me too. Been having a rough patch with various things and have hit the sugary snacks far too heavily whilst simultaneously not having time to exercise. I’m currently about 11st 11. Need to be held to account if I’m ever going to get on top of this.

Clitmandu · 14/09/2025 09:26

My weight is 10st 13 lbs.
I have lost just over two stone since February, but my dog died end of may and I’ve just hit the comfort food, in copious amounts, ever since.

Anyway, that stops today.

Hello to those joining me.

Sorry to hear about your dog @Clitmandu. It’s so easy to use food for comfort.

Theunamedcat · 14/09/2025 09:33

Why not but ive just thrown away my scales so ive no clue how I would track this

Also

How does everyone else's scales work? My last two sets you could go lighter or heavier just by moving them across the floor ive never had an accurate set! Ive tried electric ones manual ones they all do the same

Ideally, scales should be placed on a hard floor and not moved.

A few years back I had my scales repaired under the warranty, they kept changing weight depending on where they were placed. They told me to only place them on a hard surface and don’t move them. This does actually work, and my weight does stay accurate this way.

If I put the scales on a floor with carpet, I’m at least a stone heavier.

@MagicSpaceTurtle Thanks, I really need to get a grip on this emotional eating. It’s just making things worse.

I’m not sure losing weight for a particular date or event is conducive to long term weight loss. You’ll have to change how you eat and your relationship with food for life, not just for Christmas. See what I did there? Whilst it’s good to have goals, maybe direct them at health rather than ā€˜losing a stone’ which should happen eventually anyway if you change what/how you eat.

GeorgeMichaelsMicStand · 14/09/2025 11:23

(Also throw away your scales)

MagicSpaceTurtle · 14/09/2025 11:28

@GeorgeMichaelsMicStand Absolutely agree about changing lifestyle but I need to start somewhere and I’m hoping that by having a goal in mind it will kickstart me to make the long term changes that are needed.

Thanks for your input, I’m pretty sure we all know what we should be doing. Posts like this just make me think fuck off.

Hi. I will join in. I’ve been exercising more and making better food choices since I had to weigh in for a general anaesthetic mid July. In 2 months I’ve lost 8lbs so close enough to 1lb a week. Some weeks it’s nothing and others close to 2 but I’ve made some real changes and I think I’m also increasing muscle.

would love some company on the way.

i do 30 mins cardio before work and a Pilates session online before heading to my desk job. When it’s not raining i walk on my lunch break. I take my lunch with me and try and stay away from the office biscuit tin.

good luck to us all

Hello to those joining me.

Hello! Aww I’m so sorry you lost your dog. It’s a totally devastating thing to go through. Each time I lose a pet I’m shocked at how painful it is. I found the pet bereavement free helpline the Blue Cross provide invaluable. Have you spoken to them. I called them every night for a while. It just helped me to process the emotions that felt very overwhelming. I’m very introverted and hold my emotions in and use food to numb them.

Sending you lots of love.
i also would love to lose a stone by Christmas.
Such a good idea. I’m on the September thread but will follow along here too šŸ™thank you.

AllBranEater · 14/09/2025 16:16

I'll join too please! My current weight is 168 lb, I've been losing and gaining the same pounds for a few months, I need to stick to my calories better.

OrangeCars · 14/09/2025 17:12

I'd like to join! I have been really really struggling to shift weight (things that worked easily before don't seem to work at all now - is this perimenopause??). Thank you for the motivation!

I've had a stressful week and have been reaching for the hot buttery toast. It has to stop.

I'm 5'7 and last time I weighed myself a couple of months ago I was 12 stone 2lbs. I'm actually too scared to weigh myself at the moment because I can feel my clothes are tighter, but I'll try to in the next few days.

UseNorOrnament · 14/09/2025 17:25

I’m in. I’ve not held myself to account and my efforts have been pointless. 162lbs & 5’ 3ā€. Feeling positively wobbly and if I don’t sort it now (52) it’s just going to get even harder. I get all the nutrition stuff but just find it so hard as a busy single mum with a demanding job. I need to organise myself so I don’t end up cooking late night carbs for tea or getting carbs and fats from the work canteen.

coloursquare · 14/09/2025 17:29

I am in

staringatthesun · 14/09/2025 18:37

Yes please! A stone off would make a huge difference for me. I'm starting at 11 stone 12lbs. I want to work on slowing downy eating and not snacking.

MercuryRising · 14/09/2025 20:09

Hi I would love to join you all. I will weigh in the morning and post.

lilybloomtoo · 14/09/2025 20:16

I am in too!
I am currently 10 stone and its crept on in the past year. I am walking daily and doing yoga and pilates.I tried the gym but found weights really boring. I had stopped sugary treats this week but ruined it today by having cake.

RidingMyBike · 15/09/2025 19:32

Count me in!

scaredysquiggle · 16/09/2025 15:11

10st 9.2 this morning.

here we go

AreYouBrandNew · 16/09/2025 22:32

I’m in. Hoping for a bit more than a stone but it would be a good start. I’m 45. Cw 13st 12, winter clothes are tight.

Dragged myself round the Great North Run a couple of weeks ago which would have been much easier without the extra pounds.
