How about losing one stone by Christmas 🌲

Clitmandu · 14/09/2025 08:22

There are 14 weeks until Christmas. I’m thinking just one pound a week would crack a stone off and make a big difference.

One pound a week is doable and not too much pressure.

I am starting today, my plan is to stop being so bloody greedy and stop the mindless all day long scoffing.

Weigh in every Sunday.

Am off to dust off the scales and weigh myself, I will report back !

Would love some company.

I’d like to join in please! I’ve got about 3 stone to loose , am struggling so much with grief as I lost my mum recently and i find it hard to plan anything. Especially food for everyone

AreYouBrandNew · 20/09/2025 09:15

@Harrysmummy246 welcome! Well done for getting diagnosis sorted. Definitely sound like motivation re the boat

AreYouBrandNew · 20/09/2025 09:17

@MellowPinkDeer im really sorry to hear about your mum. It is such a difficult time but I’m guessing she’d want you to look after your health.

Triceratopmeup · 20/09/2025 10:01

I posted at the start of this thread & have been lurking ever since! šŸ‘€
Bit the bullet & stood on the scales this morning. 10st9! I'm 44, 5'5 & most definitely perimenopausal. Haven't had a period since June, but am most definitely not pregnant... thankfully!!
Calorie counting & upping the steps & exercise is the way forward!!!

CautiousOptimist · 20/09/2025 10:38

@MellowPinkDeerI’m so sorry. Thinking about what food to make everyone every day must be so hard through a fog of grief.

MiddlingMarch · 20/09/2025 19:56

Hello! Signing up hereto lose something, anything.

No idea how much I weigh, but GP said the other day my BMI is 31 which I know is Not Good At All. Perimenopusal, my blood pressure is probably awful and I need to lose weight.

First step is cutting out sugar. I cannot keep eating the way I have done, and a big part of the issue is sugar.

I walk around 10k steps a day (thank you to the dog) and do 20 minutes on a rowing machine 3x a week. But I am largely the shape of a potato as have zero muscle definition or strength. I am considering using (some of) the money I use to buy sugary foods into a personal trainer to help.

I will weigh tomorrow.

NotBendyEnough · 20/09/2025 20:15

Can I join? I'm early 50s, 150lb and 5'3". I'd like to lose 10lb by Christmas.
I work in healthcare in a job where I stand all day. By the evening my feet are tired and I'm very unmotivated to exercise. This lifestyle and my age is starting to make me very stiff and I have aches and pains.
I'm planning to start doing stretching and pilates in the evening instead of snacking and watching tv. I feel like I'm at the point where I need a lifestyle change or I won't be healthy in my 60s.

KrazyboutKillian · 20/09/2025 20:33

I need this support ! I’ve been steadily increasing all year and now I know I need to be decreasing ! I feel fat , unfit and meh about all of my clothes

@MellowPinkDeer so sorry about your mum x

AreYouBrandNew · 21/09/2025 07:29

Sunday weigh in (I’m weighing every day but only going to write it down once a week)

sw 13st 12lb
cw 13st 10lb

so first couple of pounds down - usually the easiest and not real weight loss for me.

don’t think it will feel real till I’m in the 12st’s.

I’ve got an afternoon tea in a couple of weeks when I’m going to have a free day/not count calories and I’m hoping to be 13st 7 by then.

keep going everyone

BigHouseLittleHouse · 21/09/2025 07:40

Hi I will try to join! I’m 12 stone 6lb (79 kg). I have lost 6kg over the summer and I ultimately aiming to get down to 11 stone by next Easter.

I am calorie counting and also fasting between 7pm and 9am and this is definitely helping as my problem has always been evening snacking. I’m currently recovering from surgery so I am unable to any proper exercise but I cannot wait to get back to my regular activities (gardening, swimming, walking, cycling).

itsasmallworldafteralll · 21/09/2025 07:47

Hi, I’d like to join!
currently my heaviest at 180lbs. I’m 5 foot 9 so bmi is about 26 but it’s been steadily creeping up since I hit 40 a few years ago. Hoping to reset my eating habits, and stop mindless snacking, too.

staringatthesun · 21/09/2025 08:02

I'm starting today, dropped DD to uni this weekend, so have had 2 nights in a hotel, eating out a lot. Feel I can focus a bit more now she's safely ensconsed!

ClaredeBear · 21/09/2025 08:07

I’ve not this kind of thing before but it sounds like a good plan! I will weigh myself later, once I pluck up the courage. My main issue is basically eating far too much, which is not something I used to do. I’m not sure what happened there. Thanks for the motivation šŸ™šŸ»

MiddlingMarch · 21/09/2025 08:31

SW 88.5kg

Actually less than I was fearing but still too much. First week aim: cut out sugar. I had no added sugar yesterday. So... just... carry on.

DH knows my plan and is supportive.

AreYouBrandNew · 21/09/2025 09:04

@BigHouseLittleHouse @itsasmallworldafteralll @MiddlingMarch @ClaredeBear welcome to all the new people! (Sorry if I’ve missed anyone) well done for taking the first baby steps on this. Wishing us all strength and luck and focus for this

Crazybooklady · 21/09/2025 09:17

I’ll join too. I’ve been fighting the same stone for a few years now & I have some clothes in a size 10 with the tags still on that I can’t bring myself to get rid of. Last week I spent Ā£100 on a new pair of Levi’s & they’re tight around the ass & hips so that’s what’s going to motivate me, I’m determined to get into them. I’m good with food but I’m not great with exercise. I’m going to do at least 10k steps a day and also some squats. Hopefully that will help. SW 11.3 GW 10.7.

KrazyboutKillian · 21/09/2025 09:21

Ohhh forgot the stats
5’4ā€
( thought I was 5’5ā€ but a recent measure at docs ) said otherwise
13 s 10 ffs

i noticed I’m the same weight as @AreYouBrandNew
but not a cat in hells chance of me doing any running , so well impressed with you

im heading into winter clothes not liking what I have , too tight , and don’t want to spend on clothes for my fat phase

ive done fast 800 before , and think that will give me a good start , although just dropping the crap ā€˜ treats ā€˜ would be an improvement !

good luck to all

AreYouBrandNew · 21/09/2025 09:38

@KrazyboutKillian im beyond annoyed with myself that I didn’t lose any weight while training for Great North Run and in fact ran it at my heaviest ever. Almost tipped 14 stone. My knees are probably destroyed. Might as well book in the knee replacement now.

you could run if you wanted to but best thing is to find exercise you (maybe) like. And of course walk walk walk.

AreYouBrandNew · 21/09/2025 09:41

And I can’t deal with buying new bigger winter clothes either. I’m sending back two lots I bought this week.

I stupidly thought wide legged trousers might be a good idea. Enough material to fashion a sail for a ship and I looked enormous.

AllBranEater · 21/09/2025 09:52

My SW last week was 168 lb. Today I'm 165.25 lb, so that's 2.75 lb loss.

KrazyboutKillian · 21/09/2025 10:05

@AllBranEater great loss !

Harrysmummy246 · 21/09/2025 10:38

Official start weight will come tomorrow as I'm now in all my kit to go and race 🚣🚣🚣

Lowarnes · 21/09/2025 10:47

I’d like to join because I keep ruining my diet with massive hormonal binges.

im 9 stone 13 but only 5ft 2 so would love to get to 9 stone 7 at least

AllBranEater · 21/09/2025 10:49

Thanks @KrazyboutKillian !

AreYouBrandNew · 21/09/2025 11:24

@Harrysmummy246 good luck with the race and the weigh in!
