How about losing one stone by Christmas 🌲

Clitmandu · 14/09/2025 08:22

There are 14 weeks until Christmas. I’m thinking just one pound a week would crack a stone off and make a big difference.

One pound a week is doable and not too much pressure.

I am starting today, my plan is to stop being so bloody greedy and stop the mindless all day long scoffing.

Weigh in every Sunday.

Am off to dust off the scales and weigh myself, I will report back !

Would love some company.

@CautiousOptimist with you on purchases. I’ve just had to buy some new autumn work wear and I hated buying it big.

AreYouBrandNew · 18/09/2025 15:00

@RidingMyBike how are you finding noom? I quite liked it but a bit pricey

My weight is 10st 13 lbs.
I have lost just over two stone since February, but my dog died end of may and I’ve just hit the comfort food, in copious amounts, ever since.

Anyway, that stops today.

Hello to those joining me.

Congratulations on your amazing weight loss to date šŸ’Ŗ but be kind up yourself-perfectly understandable that you’ve struggled since losing your dog. Good luck with it! I’d like to join too.

I like the approach mostly, although it can be a bit overly-perky/annoying at times.
It’s definitely helped with understanding motivation and what makes me eat more than I need to. I don’t do well with meal plan/points type approaches.

AreYouBrandNew · 18/09/2025 19:49

@RidingMyBike good when you know what work for you. Just tricky to stick with it

Snowfairyxx · 18/09/2025 20:42

I was 10st 12 this morning. I am quite short so I am overweight.
I have done better this week and not eaten as much sugary foods which I need to do or I just end up wanting more.
Need to get back into doing more exercise next to help tone up as well. I have a nice holiday booked for early next summer and really want to have lost weight for that and feel better. There is no reason I can't loose a stone at least by then. I will be annoyed at myself if I don't.

Alioopsidaisy · 18/09/2025 21:42

I'm in! I'm 53,12 stone 6 and I'd be pretty happy to lose anything at all!! A stone by Christmas is halfway to my goal. My wedding rings no longer fit and I also dont want to get them resized. Good luck everyone x

CautiousOptimist · 19/09/2025 07:37

How’s everyone doing today?
I’m doing a Nutriseed juice day as I have some in the freezer and don’t want to waste them as they’re pricey. So just 5 juices for me today, no food at all. However I don’t recommend - find it really hard to do and obviously unsustainable. I’ve just cancelled my subscription!

MightyGoldBear · 19/09/2025 08:32

Can I join.
I was really motivated in July to lose some weight and get fitter. Then the 6 weeks happened with kids off and I just lost all motivation. Now the weather is changing too I just want to be cosy and eating all the rubbish šŸ™ˆ

No idea how to get my motivation back any tips very very very welcome.

Alioopsidaisy · 19/09/2025 12:28

If I could lose a pound for every time I talked about losing pounds...i could do with some motivational words too.

survivingonredbullandhope · 19/09/2025 13:01

Can I join in too please

AreYouBrandNew · 19/09/2025 20:24

@MightyGoldBear @Alioopsidaisy motivation - do you have any target dates or events coming up that we can support for? Health nighles you need to deal with? A too small wardrobe you need to get back in to?

AreYouBrandNew · 19/09/2025 20:28

@CautiousOptimist how were the juices?

ok here - 15k steps yesterday and today and approx 600 calorie deficit a day

AreYouBrandNew · 19/09/2025 20:29

@Clitmandu how are you getting on this week?

Alioopsidaisy · 19/09/2025 20:34

I go on holiday in 9 weeks. I also keep buying clothes but then growing out of them. Menopause is affecting me badly. I did fast 800 a couple of years ago and it worked well but you need to have the right mindset as its quite hard (for me). I dont have that mindset just yet and I dont know how to get it back.

deeahgwitch · 19/09/2025 20:47

Count me in too please.
I need to lose a stone and a half.
Can anyone recommend a really good, reliable weighing scales with big numerals so I can read the numbers., please.

GeorgeMichaelsMicStand · 14/09/2025 11:22

I’m not sure losing weight for a particular date or event is conducive to long term weight loss. You’ll have to change how you eat and your relationship with food for life, not just for Christmas. See what I did there? Whilst it’s good to have goals, maybe direct them at health rather than ā€˜losing a stone’ which should happen eventually anyway if you change what/how you eat.

Good habits have to start somewhere though, right?

It is often helpful to have incremental, measurable milestones in the shape of fewer pounds on the scale as feedback.

AreYouBrandNew · 19/09/2025 20:51

@Alioopsidaisy 9 weeks is a good amount of time.

agree it’s tricky to get in the mindset. And not to have too many social things that might throw you off track. And just enough time to exercise and follow which ever plan you pick.

OrangeOzzy · 19/09/2025 21:20

If like to join in too. Trying to increase my activity levels and cut out the sweets!

Alioopsidaisy · 19/09/2025 21:23

You're right. I'm on it from Monday (too many things this weekend). Exercise needs to increase and drinking needs to decrease!!

Pixie2015 · 19/09/2025 21:25

just spotted the thread would love to join in - need to pluck up courage to get on scales at weekend !

AreYouBrandNew · 19/09/2025 21:46

@Pixie2015 we’re here for you!

Harrysmummy246 · 20/09/2025 08:06

I'm going to actually bite the bullet and stop just watching.
I am in kgs as that is somehow mentally easier, plus the relevant ratings in rowing for boat average weight etc are measured in kgs.
I put on 5kg on top of being overweight when I left my physical outdoor job last October.
I am currently over the ideal for my boat and when it comes to club boats, driving the average up too much meaning we're not necessarily able to access the boat we'd like to compete in.

Plus I just feel blobby and my cholesterol is slightly high and I weigh more than DH which I hate.

I've just been diagnosed with ADHD but seem to have the eat for dopamine type not the forget about eating when hyperfocused type.
Ideally I'd like to lose 13kg which is basically 2 stone but at the moment I'd settle for 3 to get back into the comfort range for my own boat.

I'm cutting back on wine because it's affecting mood a lot, not sure what effect it will have when I get onto meds, and well, relatively easy win.

Then biscuits. And portion size.

Exercise is generally on point

CautiousOptimist · 20/09/2025 08:26

@AreYouBrandNewOh they were OK, quite tasty but so boring not eating anything!

I’m focusing on protein and veg today as I know the quickest way for me to lose weight is by limiting carbs. I’ve had mushrooms cooked in butter and two fried eggs for breakfast, delicious. Would it have been nicer with a slice of sourdough? Absolutely!

CautiousOptimist · 20/09/2025 08:28

Good luck to everyone else over the weekend. The hardest time to make healthy choices I think, with family and everyone around seemingly scoffing treats.
