Hiya,
Just reading this thread and thought I'd share my recent progress with you in case it's helpful to anyone...
I'm 5f7
I was 14st 7 a month ago and am now 13st13. This is the first time I've seen the 13's in years!
Still a way to go to get to a healthy BMI of under 11st but it's massive progress for me.
I hate calorie counting. I never stick to diets and am terrible at fasting. Not keen on the idea of WLD.
Also perimenopausal so that doesn't help.
What I've done differently is to go really low carb and eat LOADS of protein. I was told by a dietary therapist that I was insulin resistant. She said if I do one thing it should be to eat 3 x a day. Leave 5 hrs between meals. But eat shed loads of protein. So two salmon steaks not one... two eggs, veggie sausages and some full fat greek yogurt for breakfast etc...
Basically my body has been holding on to fat because I haven't been eating much. The less I eat, the more it stores. Carbs are turning to sugar & laying down fat. It's survival mode.
So am cooking things in butter, having cream in my coffee, making sure I eat a protein full breakfast etc... and it's coming off. I can't quite believe it, but it actually is.
The only other thing I'm doing is drinking gallons of water.
I'm finding the low carb boot camp thread really helpful for recipe ideas and weigh ins.
I honestly truly am not hungry and not craving sweet things.
If I do get hungry am having things like cheese / olives - protein / good fats. But mostly sticking to 3 filling meals a day.
I don't feel deprived and can imagine carrying this on as a way of eating.
I have had a few blips such as a big birthday party where lots of alcohol was consumed! Or an occasion where the most healthy thing to eat was a jacket potato, but I have just said to myself "keep going with it" and it's coming off. At a steady pace.
I hope that this might be helpful to someone 😊
