Hi

As my user name says this summer the Ryan Air seatbelt did not fit.
Yesterday I had to sit on a wooden deck chair and I found myself trying to Google what the weight limit could be

So tomorrow I start a diet.
So many threads on Mumsnet are for people much smaller than me
I'm 18 stones and 5lbs.

Please feel free to join if you are seriously overweight, please don't join if you are just averagely fat.

@SeatbeltExtender I'm 15st exactly... not sure about this time last year as I was in denial Blush but this time three years ago I was 12st and felt sure I'd make it to my target weight of 10 1/2 stone in a few months. Ha!!

Minnie888 · 15/11/2024 22:29

Welcome back @SeatbeltExtender Flowers

Goodness it's feeling like a long drag to Xmas now! Just been in London for a couple of days with work but being trying hard to avoid temptation!

Katypp · 16/11/2024 08:32

2.5lb off this week, taking me to 14st 10.5. I've managed a brisk 30 min walk every day so that will have helped. Feeling pretty pleased with myself, but those fast day are hard work!

Seaitoverthere · 16/11/2024 09:10

Well done @Katypp !

Hi all! I'm still not weighing myself but I am feeling better, me and DH had a massive talk over the weekend and we're going to do whatever it takes to get me on the right path, I pretty much broke down and i think it woke him up a bit. I was big when we met so he's never had an issue with my size but i don't think no he realised just how scared I am about losing the weight, potential health implications and just how hopeless I've been feeling about it. He gets it a bit better now and whilst he can never truly understand how this feels (he is naturally very skinny and struggles to put on any weight) he wants to help and if that means him physically cooking for me when I just can't, he'll do it. It's like he's wrapped a huge blanket of support around me and it feels really good. He's a good egg.

In other news, I have received a letter about tier 3 weight management, I'm on the waiting list for an initial appointment for consideration for bariatric surgery. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. Surgery seems huge and kind of like the Nuclear Option and as such I've always shied away from it because it didn't seem like an option due to cost etc but now it's theoretically actually on the table I am looking at it more closely. I do have a friend who's had it so I may have a chat with her.

I really do hope you are all doing well and I'm sorry for being MIA.

Welcome back @SeatbeltExtender

Happened to see this, I know we're not meant to be talking about them but I would try mounjaro first, it has also really helped me with binge eating / emotional eating, if you want to ask further please pm me or ask on the weight loss injections board 9there is a section there for people losing more than a certain weight which is particularly helpful? kind thoughts. (dipping out now due to injection chat)

NoDishiForRishi · 19/11/2024 12:19

I'll PM you when I get in @Orangesandlemons77 👍🏻

Minnie888 · 21/11/2024 06:45

We've had snow and cold weather this week. Have to say it has been making me feel hungry! Something about being cold and wanting to have warming foods that fill you up. Fat free yoghurt just isn't the same! Luckily my partner is trying to eat healthy too so when one is weak we try to encourage the other Blush

Seaitoverthere · 24/11/2024 18:45

My tablets are making me feel really sick and can only tolerate carbs foods currently. I think I am going to have to drop down to the lower dose if it carries on.

EvangelineFox · 24/11/2024 23:46

Cold weather and plenty of freezing rain here @Minnie888 - I made minestrone soup and a curry today!

Other than that I'm really struggling, not helped by DP being the laziest man in the world Sad

NoDishiForRishi · 25/11/2024 08:18

Morning all! I'm feeling in a much better place, I've gone through my house like a dose of salts this last couple of weeks and sorted everything out, my office/craft room is up and running, all rubbish and stuff we no longer use has been ferried to the tip/charity shop, one big dust through this week and I'm all set for Christmas. The drop off in my mental health was clearly reflected in my environment, I'm quite a neat and tidy person usually, hears hoping this burst of getting shit done is me turning a corner. I feel hope for the first time in a long time.

It's also my first weigh-in in almost a month this morning. I've decided to start from scratch, a nice fresh start and to focus more on what I've lost rather than what I have left to lose. All those numbers are just too much and make the whole thing feel insurmountable.

Last weigh-in: 156.4 kg

25/11/24: 155.2kg Loss: 1.2kg (2.6lbs)

I hope you all are doing well! Today I'm going to be grappling with some privacy film for the office and DD's windows. Listen out for the swearing 😂.

(I know I owe you a PM @Orangesandlemons77 completely slipped my mind)

EvangelineFox · 26/11/2024 23:57

Well done @NoDishiForRishi! I always feel better when the house is reasonably clean and tidy too - I gave bags and bags of stuff to a charity shop last year, in fact so much I couldn't work out how I'd fit it all in the house previously Blush

I'm absolutely frazzled tonight, DTS1 had another enormous tantrum and my head was spinning afterwards Sad we are still looking into an ADHD diagnosis for him - some/ most days it's like he HAS to explode to get a big bit of rage out of him. He just finds something to fixate on, picks and picks and picks, then builds up to a massive BOOM of temper tantrum. Luckily(?!) DP was home tonight and completely let rip at him - shouted and shouted and pointed out that it was DTS1's own fault and he was being completely unreasonable in tonight's tantrum. Usually I'd defend DTS1 but on this occasion he'd been so awful that I thought actually he deserves this, he needs to learn how I feel after every time he has a meltdown. So there were tears all round, I was shaking for hours - I realised that part of my emotional eating is that I never actually relax, I'm always waiting for his next outburst - there's often no warning of them either.

Phew! I don't know where I go from here but it was a relief just to get that out Smile I

NoDishiForRishi · 27/11/2024 07:00

@EvangelineFox I don't know who I fit it all in the house either, I still need to try and get DD to part with a few more toys before Christmas to make room but I feel so much better being in a neat and tidy environment. It sounds like that was something that needed to be said and I really hear when you say how it affects your emotional eating. Since I accepted that I am traumatised and started to unpick the events around it, I've realised that I am constantly on edge and in a state of waiting for the next bad thing to happen, which leads to me comforting myself with food.

CrispWinterSunshineBright · 27/11/2024 08:06

Hiya,
Just reading this thread and thought I'd share my recent progress with you in case it's helpful to anyone...
I'm 5f7
I was 14st 7 a month ago and am now 13st13. This is the first time I've seen the 13's in years!
Still a way to go to get to a healthy BMI of under 11st but it's massive progress for me.

I hate calorie counting. I never stick to diets and am terrible at fasting. Not keen on the idea of WLD.
Also perimenopausal so that doesn't help.

What I've done differently is to go really low carb and eat LOADS of protein. I was told by a dietary therapist that I was insulin resistant. She said if I do one thing it should be to eat 3 x a day. Leave 5 hrs between meals. But eat shed loads of protein. So two salmon steaks not one... two eggs, veggie sausages and some full fat greek yogurt for breakfast etc...

Basically my body has been holding on to fat because I haven't been eating much. The less I eat, the more it stores. Carbs are turning to sugar & laying down fat. It's survival mode.

So am cooking things in butter, having cream in my coffee, making sure I eat a protein full breakfast etc... and it's coming off. I can't quite believe it, but it actually is.
The only other thing I'm doing is drinking gallons of water.

I'm finding the low carb boot camp thread really helpful for recipe ideas and weigh ins.

I honestly truly am not hungry and not craving sweet things.
If I do get hungry am having things like cheese / olives - protein / good fats. But mostly sticking to 3 filling meals a day.

I don't feel deprived and can imagine carrying this on as a way of eating.

I have had a few blips such as a big birthday party where lots of alcohol was consumed! Or an occasion where the most healthy thing to eat was a jacket potato, but I have just said to myself "keep going with it" and it's coming off. At a steady pace.

I hope that this might be helpful to someone 😊

Wow! I really needed to hear this. Trying once again to track calories and failing . Feeling completely overwhelmed because I have high cholesterol, am just into diabetic territory and my BP is very high. I feel utterly demoralised . I’d love it if you share what you’re eating and recipes. How has your diet affected your BP and cholesterol out of interest?

isthereaway · 27/11/2024 10:09

Anyone who wants to hear my experience of Bariatric surgery (not good)
is welcome to pm me x

CrispWinterSunshineBright · 27/11/2024 14:44

Hi @AutumnMagpies I haven't checked my cholesterol as have only been going a few weeks. It's not something that's been an issue for me.

But energy levels are much improved as is inflammation in that I'm much less achey since dropping carbs.
In fact I even had a pain free period!

There's a whole section of low carb recipes in here.

Today I have had
B: 2 boiled eggs /1/2 an avocado/coffee (w cream)

L: 2 smoked mackerel fillets, olives, cucumber and gherkins some comte cheese

2 pints of water - will try to manage another 2 through the day.

D: is looking like veg soup as am feeling like being cosy, will follow with some full far greek yog.

I will be full. If I'm not I may add in a couple of veggie sausages.

CrispWinterSunshineBright · 27/11/2024 14:46

@AutumnMagpies don't know how to share a link to a thread section.... but you can check here for inspo...

2.5lb off this morning.

loveforautumn · 30/11/2024 18:51

Can I join! I'm currently 15st 10 😬 starting weight watchers tomorrow after spending the afternoon asking myself what the hell am I playing at. Tonight I will enjoy my last glass of wine and tomorrow is shopping day so will meal plan for weight watchers

WafferThinMint · 30/11/2024 19:07

I'm rejoining! I'm going to go high protein, clean eating as far as possible, and finding a chair yoga type exercise plan with small weights.
23 Sep:19 stone 3lbs
7 Oct: 19 stone 1lb
14 Oct: 18 stone 7lbs
21 Oct: 18 stone 1lb
28 Oct: 18 stone 8 lbs
Today:18 stone 13 lbs 😱
Did really well with a portion control measurer and lost initial weight with 2 slim fast shakes and one normal meal a day up to 14 Oct
Then decided to eat normal meals and bin the shakes.
Then reintroduced wholemeal bread and porridge/shreddies.
Then just gave up and ate like a pig...
Disaster! But I'm telling myself I'm still 4lbs less than when I started.

Minnie888 · 01/12/2024 06:46

Well done @Katypp amazing!! The weeks really start to add up. I started in September and have now hit the 2 stone goal- I am so pleased I feel so much lighter, my knees ache less (even though of course I'm still heavy Blush) I'm 16st 3lb now started at 18 3lb. I have another goal for a few more pounds before Christmas where I will take a good earned break and then hopefully get back on it for Jan

Minnie888 · 01/12/2024 06:50

@loveforautumn and @WafferThinMint welcome to the club Star measuring things definitely helped me on the WW plan, sometimes it looks so tiny in comparison to what I had before but I do find it still fills me and I balance much more with veg on the side. I've been moving a lot more too which has helped me with the losses as I worked from home it can be easy to not move...

Have a great week everyone and enjoy those advent choccies this morning Grin

SeatbeltExtender · 03/12/2024 22:17

Think how much weight I could have lost if I'd stuck with it when I started this thread.

The time has gone so quickly!

I have no clue where the days and weeks go...
