Currently over indulging k
On holiday and after a stressful four years I'm ready to get fit and healthy and lose two stone. I'm going to start at the beginning of September. Would anyone like to join and motivate each other?

I'm going to stick to what I know works:

I don't eat breakfast
I eat homemade soup or noodles for lunch, full of veg and chicken for protein
Same for tea half the time, other nights I'll have a normal meal with the family
Very little booze

I'm missing exercise because I have a job with a long commute so really struggle for time. Am off out for a walk today though, and will make soup when I get back.

TheGirlWhoLived · 18/08/2024 13:21

It’ll be really interesting as we have a large variety of different methods on here! I’m doing nutracheck, aiming to lose 1.5lb a week and it’s offered me 1862 calories a day which seems doable! I do a fair amount of steps normally (school run is an hour round trip, twice 😒) but fairly sedentary throughout the holidays!

frenchbreadandbites · 17/08/2024 17:46

@Warmfeet I think I just dribbled reading that food list haha

@Pinkclarko welcome and yes join! Great you do exercise a few times a week. What do you do?

I think my step count has averaged around 1000k a day due to working from home.

I think us aiming for 10k steps three-four times a week is a good challenge too

I aim to do:
-30 mins jog around the block
-two 30 mins weights sessions for upper body
-one weights for lower (walking lunges with hand weights etc)
-a body pump session in my garden
-a 20 min circuit

everything is under half an hour and I onky make moderate effort these days.

I also rarely manage all of these, it’s normally 3 or 4 at most.

I also go through phases of eating loads of cereal in the evening 😂 gave up booze 18 months ago and replaced it with more shite apparently.

Goingclipclipertycloponthestairs · 18/08/2024 14:45

Hi can I join? I'd love to lose 2 stone by Christmas! I had the Roast Beetroot salad at Pizza Express instead of pizza last night in preparation, but rather spoilt it with a couple of glasses of wine and a mini desert.

Blarn · 18/08/2024 14:54

I would like to join. I'm 39 and piled 4 stone on while on antidepressants. Stopped them two years ago and am slowly losing weight, lost about a stone. I do have my waist back though, I was shaped like a barrel! Two stone will take me back down to a little over 10 st which is a weight I'd be happy with.

I know that cutting down alcohol will really help. I had a terrible relationship with food in my teens, even to the point of making myself vomit after eating big meals sometimes so I am not calorie counting, just smaller portions, cutting out snacks. And definitely need to reduce alcohol!

Itsdare · 18/08/2024 15:10

I am hoping to be going on holiday until September 8th so will join in properly from 9th. However even on my holiday I hope to be a bit more active with some swimming and have lots of nice salad and seafood as well as all the goodies!

Then my aim is to
Significantly reduce alcohol
Significantly increase protein, fibre and healthy fats
Walk more every day
Reduce takeaways
Enjoy more vegetables
Lose 2lbs a week minimum (i have a lot to lose so this should be achievable)

My nutrition is awful, I've gotten so lazy and exist on white bread toast, ready meals and frozen food. I've had an incredibly stressful year so I won't beat myself up but I really want to improve everything

PotterHead1985 · 18/08/2024 15:42

I'm in (and have joined the WhatsApp for the food porn - and to post my own! I love a Hairy Bikers Hairy Dieters recipe or 40!).

I'm 39. Peri. Have Fibro, Arthritis, Diabetes, Migraine and Gastroparesis amongst other things. I am also full time carer for my 76 year old mother with Diabetes, Arthritis, Heart Failure and other things. Plus 2 nutter dogs and a cat.

I need to lose more than 2 stone. I'm 5 foot 7 and I'm not sure my exact current weight - I was about 15 stone last I checked, I will check before the 1st - but even after losing 6 and a half stone I'm not happy. I'm stuck, may have even gained a bit, still fat and unhappy. My vices are very much wine, takeaways or other lazy food, snacking on bad things in the evening when watching telly.

I'm rushed off my feet trying to be everything for everyone, appointments for mam, all the housework, cooking, shopping etc whilst being chronically ill myself. I dont seem to take care of me.

I want to walk more (so do the darn doggos I bet!!)
Drink more water and less wine
Eat healthier foods, smaller portions, more well rounded and interesting, not the same few dishes (I've a picky eater for a mother which doesn't help).
Look after my physical and mental health better.

So looking forward to supporting each other.

Goingclipclipertycloponthestairs · 18/08/2024 16:58

My plan is 2 days pw 500 cals - lentil spinach tomato soup; cottage cheese omelette just about covers it. I'll have to think of some other easy options.
Celery, raw green beans, carrott sticks, nuts, roast chickpeas to munch on at work.
Reduced eating window - brunch and evening meal.
No white carbs
Evening Sugar hit which I just don't manage without - couple of dates, dried apricots, prunes or figs, or sugar free cocoa/milk shake
30 plants + pw
Avoid ultra processed food

TheGirlWhoLived · 18/08/2024 17:50

I’m aiming for low ultra-processed food too @Goingclipclipertycloponthestairs . I’ve been quite good at reducing the kids intake for main meals, bar white bread but that’s not the hill I want to die on. Struggling more with my snacks as I’m not a nut or fruit fan really- really snacks need to go anyway so that might be easier!

Blarn · 18/08/2024 17:57

I think I need to do intermittent fasting again as well, quite easy as dh does shift work so can just pick two days when he is doing day shifts and just eat a very small supper with dc. Might start when the schools are back though as some days sitting quietly in the office or at home with a nice lunch and a chocolate bar is well-needed time to myself!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 18/08/2024 17:58

I try 3L of water a day. I’ve done it before and want to get back into it. 500ml on way to work, 1.5l at work. 500ml on way home. 500ml with dinner.

elvislives2012 · 18/08/2024 18:27

Have joined the WA group. ☺️

lorisparkle · 18/08/2024 18:46

Would love to join. I put on an extra stone during lock down which I just haven't been able to shift and then another stone when I started on some antidepressants. Now my clothes don't fit as it is all on my 'bum and tum'!

The plan is to do more exercise, do the 16:8 intermittent fasting, cut out carbs, and track my calories.

I am a real late evening snacker which is my down fall and also going through the menopause.

I have been using the app MyNetDiary

Summerisgoinggreat · 18/08/2024 19:43

İ'm in! Things in my life have gotten a lot easier now after a difficult five years, so I'm finally in a space where I can do it, with less of a mental struggle. Cutting out bread, meat and dairy usually does it for me. I need to incorporate exercise into my life as well. I figured I've had a big lunch out today and haven't eaten since so I can technically start now if I make sure I don't have anything else this evening other than fruit and water. İt's pushing myself to exercise, and make healthy meals, which is the hardest.

İ don't like seeing myself in photos any more and would like a new wardrobe but don't wanna buy things at the size I currently am at.

HoneyDaze · 18/08/2024 20:49

I’d love to join please! I’m just starting a new gym programme with a coach who is giving me calorie and macro targets, and I’ll be going to some gym classes too. I’d really like to lose two stone and also feel a bit fitter and healthier! I’m planning to increase my steps too - I sit at a desk every day so it’s easy to get to the end of the day having barely moved!!

Massivemonstera · 18/08/2024 21:40

I'd love to join please. I was doing really well with weight loss and fitness until a few months ago when I've been had a few life challenges to deal with including a minor surgery that has meant no exercise for a month now. 2 stone off by December would be amazing.

Blosssom · 19/08/2024 07:15

This thread has inspired me to weigh myself which is a massive step forward as I haven't dared to for about two years I think.

82kg or 12.9 stone this morning, probably about what I feared to be honest. I need to lose 10kg or almost two stones to get out of the "overweight" BMI category, with the help of this thread!

Thank you to the poster who mentioned soup, that always works well for me when losing weight and I'd forgotten that.

Zazu44 · 19/08/2024 07:29

Please may I join too. Feeling really motivated at the moment and just want to get back to feeling like me.
♥️

Eggsley · 19/08/2024 07:45

Weighed myself this morning as I am starting off gently to hopefully have some better habits forming by the 1st.

13st 3.2lbs, which is about what I was expecting. Pretty much the heaviest I've ever been so that will hopefully keep me focused.

I'm doing 16:8 intermittent fasting so my window to eat will be 12-8pm. Plus lots of water. Fingers crossed today goes well!

ChillinwiththeVillains · 19/08/2024 08:00

Would love to join. 45 and have perimenopausal weight making me feel 65. Two stone would be amazing and get me to sub 10st- am 5'7" and fine boned so am only just in overweight bmi but I waddle.
I tried Zoe, but ended up putting on weight. Have bought Nutracheck to count calories but think being part of a weight loss tribe will help motivation. Also in France atm - the wine! the cheese! -and have various fun things planned in September too but think will aim for 90%,compliance and try to write down consumption even if it's birthday cake or burgers. Don't want to be boring party pooper as well as frumpy.
Really glad I found you!

TheGirlWhoLived · 19/08/2024 08:43

Starting today for Monday weigh in with the early crowd! 15st 8lbs. Wanting to get under 15 by the time we go away in a month. Started with porridge with strawberries, chia and flax seeds and a little honey. Going to make a nice hot chilli for dinner, weather looks crappy, with some tortilla chips and salad, still umming and aahing about lunch. Will track all the calories and see what I have in!

PotterHead1985 · 19/08/2024 09:07

The weather is rubbish here too. Weighed myself this morning. Knew I'd put on weight since losing last year but was scared. It's got good, but not quite as bad as I feared. I went from 15st8 to 16st4.

Blarn · 19/08/2024 09:13

I am not going to weigh myself as have unfortunately started the working week with a hangover. I am currently sipping a little can of chilled coffee and hoping that no one calls me on Teams!

QuarkBlisterbum · 19/08/2024 09:37

I can’t bring myself to weigh myself either. Im
going to have a day of eating less and weigh myself tomorrow morning to see what I’m working with. I think that will be more realistic of my actual body weight then.

I did get up and do some strength exercises today though and have started on the water. Not eating until post 10am and will stick to 1200 cals.

need to buy myself some dumbbells though as have some but they’re too light.

BlueRaincoat1 · 19/08/2024 09:40

This is a nice thread, I would like to join. I'm 44, and expect I'm pushing 12 stone now. I always uses to be pretty slim (I'm quite tall), and don't really feel like myself anymore. I'd love to lose 1.5 stone.
I bought some size 12 jeans recently that ae very tight, I would like them to be a comfortable fit.
The main thing I'm going to do from 1 September is stop drinkng for 1 month, I hope to feel like extending it into Octover too. I quit for September last year and found it fairly easy, but then found it fairly easy to get back into a regular drinking habit again too. It was disappointing to be honest.

My DH is getting fitter at the moment, he is very on board with more salads /healthier food choices so that should really help. I will also try and do Couch to 5k.
