Currently over indulging k
On holiday and after a stressful four years I'm ready to get fit and healthy and lose two stone. I'm going to start at the beginning of September. Would anyone like to join and motivate each other?

Hello, I'm also in for the millionth time! But this time I really need to stick to it. Just got back from holiday and although I did wear a bikini, it wasn't a pretty sight at all. I'm 40, have 2 DC and work full time in a very sedentary job. I'm 5'5" and 13st ish (haven't weighed myself since before holiday, could well be more!) so would be delighted to lose 2 stone, could probably do with losing about 4 in total.

My plan is:

  • intermittent fasting (12-8pm will be when I can eat). I did this a few years ago and lost about a stone.
  • drink more water.
  • no evening snacks
  • get out for a walk at lunch time Mon-Fri
  • go for a longer walk at weekends
  • do a 30 min exercise class from YouTube 5 x per week
  • reduce portion size
  • eat more fruit and veg, and reduce carbs.

Looking forward to the official start on 1st Sept!

Me please. I’ve never been bothered by my weight but I realise I need to lose a bit and get healthier. Dh is also doing it too. I could do with maybe 2 stone. Dh needs more like 5 stone. I just bought a new coat I really liked but the biggest size is slightly too small for me so aiming to get into that!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 17/08/2024 19:48

Also I’m 35, two kids and struggle with getting into exercise. Feel like giving up as no energy. Don’t know if I need some vitamins or something as I feel like I have no energy constantly.

Im away end of August but will start eating better before that if I can. Dh wants to buy us some weights so we can exercise at home together when I’m not working late.

Octagoneaway · 17/08/2024 20:55

I’d like to join too please! Late 40s. 2 stone (and a bit) to lose. Got a lovely party coming up and would like to look better for it. Then a pre Christmas reunion with some friends I’ve not seen for a while. Don’t want to be the huge one!

Life has been a bit shitty: hard work, tricky teens, and so much stress. I paused my exercise membership and piled on a stone which I couldn’t afford to do. Clothes and bras are far too tight. It’s an “emergency”.

Mammyloveswine · 17/08/2024 21:11

Me please! Want 4 stone off by my birthday in May!

dontlookbackinangerr · 17/08/2024 21:11

Ooo this sounds great! Can I join?

37, haven't dared to weigh myself yet but I expect it's 2 stone I want to lose. I've been going through a break up from an abusive relationship and have quit alcohol (which I developed an unhealthy relationship to).

Just starting eating better but exercise is the biggie... September is perfect to allow some mental prep and hopefully some more consistent healthy habits before starting.

Thanks for setting this up and look forward to getting to know you all!

IOnlyNeedTheSilence · 17/08/2024 21:13

I'll join. I don't think I can lose another two stone to be honest - I'm about 4 stone down in the last three years. But my weight loss has ground to a halt, and I need some accountability to lose one more stone.

Blosssom · 17/08/2024 21:21

I'd like to join, my only problem is I don't dare to weigh myself.

44yo, definitely need to lose two stone, I seem to be developing a second chin and was recently asked when my baby is due which was very awkward!

I'll set myself the target of working up the courage to weigh myself by 1 September when we are starting...

ArdMhaca · 17/08/2024 21:26

I’m in.
42, 3 DC, absolutely no time to exercise and all the time in the world to snack apparently.

Henowner · 17/08/2024 21:40

I'm in too, need to lose 3 stone so 2 stone off by Christmas would be a great start.
I'm 50 in May, so menopausal at the moment with loads of health niggles and would really like to get a grip on eating healthily for the sake of my ailing mind and body 😬

fudgecat · 17/08/2024 21:46

Count me in, I'm 47 with 4DC so feeling motivated to start as soon as they go back to school. I've had a rough few years with treatment for cancer and have put on a lot of weight as a result.

Sal80 · 17/08/2024 23:11

@frenchbreadandbites could possibly set up a whats app group? That way it would be easier to share meals recipies etc x

Itsmyluckyegg · 17/08/2024 23:14

Count me in! I’m a lazy convenience eater and need to break that habit!

LiterallyOnFire · 17/08/2024 23:20

Oh yes please. It's definitely nudging two stone now.

thorneyislanddoris · 18/08/2024 03:53

Yes please!

Also on holiday at the moment eating everything in sight. Need to lose 2 stone as well.

I'll also be starting beginning of Sept.

We can do it! 💪

Raquel75 · 18/08/2024 06:33

how long did it take to have gastric sleeve on the NHS once referred

frenchbreadandbites · 18/08/2024 07:39

Welcome @DurtBurd and @DirtyDensDog (love the name) doesn't matter how many times you start, it's the fact you're not giving up.

@Rowgtfc72 will look into that app. I do think knowing portion control and how many calories something has in, is really
Important when trying to lose weight

Hey @Scarletpig1 your situation sounds very similar to mine. WFH has some perks, but easy access to snacks and deciding to work through lunch, means my movement count is very low but snacking is super high!

Hello @Eggsley your plan sounds fabulous
And I will aim to do very similar. The long walks at weekend are a fab idea. I will join you (metaphorically speaking)

@BellaTheDarkOverlord fab to have you onboard and great you have a partner that is in for the ride too. A fab jacket to fit into is great motivation and I'm going to buy some weights to do at home too. Could you get your Dr to do some bloods to see if you're lack in anything? When I start being healthier it does give me more energy, better sleep and just feel a bit less sluggish.

@Octagoneaway lovely to have you in the group. Sorry you've had a shitty time and we are all here to help motivate and support you. Stress is the reason I've pilled on the pounds, it's much easier to take comfort in cheese and carbs than a run round the block sometimes. Let's get you feeling fabulous for your party and school reunion.

@Mammyloveswine welcome! That's a great goal and time period. We've got this.

@dontlookbackinangerr hello! So sorry you've gone through this and so glad you've got out. Can really relate to being in a relationship with someone who has an alcohol dependency and then you end up drinking too. Now on my own I only tend to drink on social occasions because I don't have anyone else to share a drink with. Yes, food is easier than exercise. But even walking more in September will help us all. I realise slow and steady wins the race here for all of us!

@IOnlyNeedTheSilence wow, congratulations on your amazing results you should be so proud. Doesn't matter how much you want to lose, hopefully we can all keep each other on track for healthy habits and get moving. And hopefully you can impart some of weight loss knowledge

Welcome @ArdMhaca wow, three DC
You're superwoman! Are they old enough to get involved with exercising with you? My DC is three so can't take her on long walks but might try and take her for a kick about in the park to at least get moving. She loves the park, but apart from pushing her on the swing it's not that physical and hard relate to the snacking!!

Hey @Henowner (I hope you actually have chickens)! Wow, what a great milestone to aim to be your best self! It is weird psychologically when I start being healthier and exercising more I just feel better and better. Have you tried Pilates? If you can afford to could you go to some beginners classes. I've done a few over the past month and so bloody hard but meant to be amazing exercise for 40+ with ailments etc.

Hello @fudgecat sounds like you've had a rough few years and with four children, I can't imagine you have much time to yourself! Hopefully this can be a safe space for you to get back to feeling your old self again xxx

@Itsmyluckyegg welcome and yes I am a lazy convenient eater too!! So I'll be looking for all the lazy convenient but healthy recipes and sharing them

@thorneyislanddoris currently on holiday too and doing the exact same! Thanks for your positive motivation. We do have this!

@Raquel75 welcome to the group. Hope to have you along for health journey. Not sure that question was for our group though. But I may have missed someone mentioning gastric sleeve

Hi I am in - am 53 and had a very stressful couple of years and just cant shift around 2 stone - will use MFP and high protein

Littlepinkstarsbyradish · 18/08/2024 07:54

I'll join this please! ive been recovering from glandular fever and it led to a CFS/ME diagnosis for past 2 years so i havent been anywhere near as active as normal and the fatigue has meant ive reached for "easy" meals
Now im feeling a bit better i want to get my old body back again

turkeymuffin · 18/08/2024 07:54

frenchbreadandbites · 17/08/2024 18:41

@snowynight welcome! We're all in the same boat!!

Just to update.

Official kick off 1st September.
The physical challenge is to walk 31 miles in a month OR aim to do half an hour of exercise you love four-five days a week at least!

I'm going to try intermittent fasting (18.00-10.00am) as inspired by @elvislives2012

Emphasis on healthy choice.

Also, weighing food out and tracking on my fitness pal has always helped me stay on track!

Count me in please.

I'd love to lose 2 stone by Xmas

turkeymuffin · 18/08/2024 07:57

Sorry pressed send too sooon.

My plan is to

Walk 12k steps / day
3 exercise sessions / week (weights)
Stop snacking

I WFH so eat every time I pass through the kitchen Blush

I need to lose about 15kg

TheGirlWhoLived · 18/08/2024 07:58

Hopping aboard too! Got about 5.5 stone left to lose total, but aiming to have 2 off by December when I turn 36.
Definitely ready for kids to go back to school, but we’re sneaking out to Disney on 18th September so I’m actually starting today, aiming for half a stone at least by then, hopefully more towards 10lb to get me back under 15st

TheGirlWhoLived · 18/08/2024 08:02

Really excited to have accountability and a team to motivate! Definitely interested in WhatsApp group too, currently I use the nutracheck app - think it was about £25 for the year but it’s so easy for tracking calories.
