On holiday and after a stressful four years I'm ready to get fit and healthy and lose two stone. I'm going to start at the beginning of September. Would anyone like to join and motivate each other?

In fasting communities, many people seem to think that men lose weight quickly at first, whilst women lose it quicker later. I'm not sure about that, but I work on the theory that the quicker I put it on, the quicker it comes off. So, the 4lb I put on over a holiday will come off in a couple of weeks. The 7lb I put on over a year will take a year to come off. This idea helps me be at peace with slow weight loss :)

Blosssom · 22/09/2024 12:55

Very sensible advice, thank you. I need to try and be less black and white. I've also started taking measurements to take the edge off the weighing a little bit, as even when there's been no loss I guess there can be an improvement in shape

So havnt been around as been super busy with a new job but have manged to keep up yoga and some walking, and been eating pretty healthily, weighed myself yesdayday and am 12st 10lb which is approx 3 lbs off since I started this which I am fine with

Peae · 22/09/2024 19:20

No change for me this week I reckon:

SW 14st
CW 13st 1
TW <13st

I'm ok with this. It's that time of the month and I've been weightlifting, both of which make me expect some water retention. Two weeks until my holiday, and I've bought a couple of dresses and a swimsuit. Pretty exciting to be in a 14 again. Would love, love to get below 13st before the holiday.

Pixie2015 · 22/09/2024 21:15

Lovely to read successes - I have been doing a lot more exercise / steps managed two 5k runs this week - need to work on reducing food intake next as only down 1 pound

ShoehornSheryl · 23/09/2024 23:38

im 9lb down largely due to illness and anxiety though. Not how I intended to lose it.

Current weight 15.4

I went on a week long walking holiday two weeks ago which was really tough and in the heat, was really careful eating. Came home expecting to have lost loads and so disappointed to have o lying lost 3lbs. It was so strenuous and hard going I was sure I would have lost half a stone !
Any way this week I do t know what has happened but I have dropped 5lbs ! And for the first time people are noticing Ia losing which is a lovely thing.

My first goal is 14 stone and I will reevaluate from there.
My wedding is in December !!

Sunnysunn · 28/09/2024 09:17

Won't be able to weigh myself tomorrow so checking in today

SW: 76kg
CW: 71.7kg

4.3kg lost so far, probably faster than I expected

Peae · 28/09/2024 18:47

Well done everyone!

I have had about ten difficult days. Lots of eating out and celebrating but also some tough days and emotional eating. I definitely learned that I can’t be slack when it comes to sugar.

Will weigh-in on Monday, but in the meantime I’m taking it easy with some TMADs and focusing on fibre and plants.

TotteringBy · 29/09/2024 23:09

Weighing in day today - I have been losing about 2lb a week, so now down to 11st 11 lb, a total of eleven pounds down since I started.
I'm very encouraged by my improving fitness, I was so unfit before, so exercise is really helping and getting easier the more weight I shed. Having not cycled for 20 years I've started going cycling two or three times a week. My first short ride had me collapsed and puffing like a train within five minutes. On Saturday I went out with DH, it was a lovely sunny autumn morning and we went just under ten miles. There was only one long steady upwards slope where I ran out of steam halfway up and had to get off and walk. I managed all the other small steep inclines and was pretty pleased with myself overall. Best of all, coming home I felt really energised - unlike previous efforts when I have had to lie down to recover and collapse for the rest of the day.
I know there will be diminishing returns as my fitness improves but hopefully I can keep up the two pounds a week weight loss.

BlueRaincoat1 · 30/09/2024 00:34

I was 11st 1lb this morning, so I have very nearly lost the half stone in September. Delighted! I did have 2 nights out where I had alcohol, but other than that I have been on the herbal teas. I have dramatically decreased the amount of bread I've been eating and really upped the veg. But mostly I've just eaten a lot less and it hasn't been as hard as I thought. I don't think I'll lose much more unless I (i) increase my activity levels and (ii) stay off the wine. I do think I will stay of it Monday to Friday at least.

No change for me this week, but still 5lb off in September. I've been plateauing for a couple of weeks and feel that a whoosh is due (hopefully this week when my period ends).

Still one week until my holiday and with no funerals or meals out this week I am feeling good about my chances of getting below 13st (especially as CW is a rounder-upper). Plan today is TMAD (small salmon salad and vegetable curry with pearl barley "rice"); absolutely zero junk; and to focus on quitting the final can of diet pop (got it down from 3 or 4 cans a day to just the 1).

Peae · 05/10/2024 07:52

Finally that pound came off, in fact 3lb. 12st 12lb this morning as I won’t be able to weigh-in on Monday.

30freespins · 08/10/2024 04:59

I’m back again to stay accountable. Hurt my knee getting off a boat on holiday last month (first world problem 😂) but it did mean I couldn’t exercise on holiday. Whilst I was careful with food choices, inevitably I put the weight back on… That said, I did wear a dress at the weekend to a gig that I wore last December (it was very snug back then) that slipped on this time which was a real boost. The knee is only just recovering so I’m back on the Treadmill this week with my 10k a day steps minimum (12.8k yesterday) and have made enquiries into a new PT. I’m also looking at maybe getting the Pvolve system Jennifer Anniston uses. Anyone had any experience of it?

Foodwise - had a tricolore salad for lunch abd 3 slices of Parma ham and then poached salmon with a rocket salad for dinner. Snack choices were a handful of pistachios and 3 mejool dates for sweetness. Plenty of water and around 4 black coffees. No booze. Annoyingly though for having had no wine I am awake at 5am 😩

Reckon I can get rid of 1.5 stones by Xmas 💪

TotteringBy · 08/10/2024 22:03

Only 1.5 pounds on my Sunday weigh in. I know one must be patient and slow and steady is best, but I really have drastically changed my diet as well as upping exercise so it felt a bit disappointing. 12 pounds in 6 weeks so I suppose it is averaging out.
I hope OP hasn't fallen off the wagon, and everyone else is keeping going.
We will get there!
On the plus side my fitness is improving noticeably, managing a ten mile bike ride now, and getting up the hilly bits I couldn't make before. I do feel a lot slimmer too, it's easier to bend down now, was busy planting tulips yesterday and generally felt a lot more energetic about my gardening.

Well done!

It is the sheer slowness of weight loss when doing it ‘properly’ that is the thing that gets me normally. And then I give up. However I’m pretty determined this time to not give up on fitness and tell myself that slow weight loss combined with upping toning to my body and face will avoid the gaunt look / turkey neck that can happen when you are over 50…🤞🏻

BlueRaincoat1 · 09/10/2024 14:42

I am 11 stone now (so lost the remaining pound) and am still off weekday alcohol. Which is such a positive change for me. I definitely feel slimmer. I am in the size 12 jeans that were really uncomfortable 2 months ago, and bought a pair of size 12 trousers that arrived today and look really good. Delighted about that.

I am hoping that the move away from late evening wine and crisps is a permanent one. I keep reminding myself that this is a choice that I WANT - I want to be slimmer, I want to be healthier. The positive mental attitude is a real help for me.

Saschka · 09/10/2024 23:19

70kg on my last weigh in, but those were my bathroom scales not the gym scales and I don’t entirely trust them! Still, I’ve lost 4kg in 6 weeks if that weight is accurate.

Super-busy at home and at work and have missed some C25K sessions - hoping to pick it back up in November. I’ll carry on with the 16:8 in the meantime.

TotteringBy · 13/10/2024 10:05

Sunday morning weigh in.
Yay. The first stone achieved! Now 11:8
Hopefully the second stone will be achieved by early December.
Feeling so much fitter and clothes feeling comfortably slightly looser, not shopping for a smaller size yet, I'm still a good stone and a half overweight and need to keep going. But I'm feeling much more motivated and enjoying all the extra exercise.
Off to Cornwall next week and will try to choose wisely in the pub while enjoying lots of long walks without getting too puffed out.
Keep going everyone - you can do it.

Peae · 15/10/2024 12:09

Well done everyone.

I’m still here, back off holiday. Mentally prepared to gain 5lb. Was incredibly surprised to lose weight, over 2lb! Couldn’t believe it and feeling very motivated. I’ve learned that when you plateau, you just need to trust the process.

Was aiming for a 36 hour fast but only managed 24. Nevermind. Been a good day otherwise.

Hows everyone else doing?

Peae · 21/10/2024 07:39

No change this week. I think if I hadn't relaxed over the weekend things would be different. Feeling the Monday motivation though, and have roughly got meals planned for the first couple of days of the week. Need to tighten up on sugar which is creeping in and this week I'm reintroducing exercise since my holiday.

I'm 29 pounds down and was doing well but my periods time has come again and I am late with Cramps and feeling really tired so now I took 2 days off will try to get back in the weight loss game again as I still have 28 pounds to lose and then another stone.
