And repeat for 11 weeks 🤣

Ok yesterday was day 1 for me 13st 0lb - better than thought - did an 8 miles bike ride - first for ages, did MFP approx 1500 kcal- long term aim is under 11st but would be delighted if reach under 12st by December

HoneyDaze · 19/08/2024 10:44

Day one for me today! 11st 13 and aiming to get to 10st 7 initially but if I can get down to 10st 0 eventually that would be amazing! When I’ve dieted before I’ve aimed for 1200 cals a day and haven’t really paid any attention to what that’s made up of - and although I’d lose weight I’d be exhausted and still unfit, then I’d put weight back on. This time I’m doing it differently and my calorie limit is 1600 cals a day - feels strange for it to be so high! I’m also aiming for around 150g protein which is super high compared to my normal diet. I know the weight might come off slower this way but hopefully it will work, and it should fuel me to exercise too.

I’ve started with protein granola, Greek yoghurt and raspberries for breakfast, and two oatcakes with peanut butter, and a protein shake so far today! For lunch I’m having heck chicken sausages with sweet potato, greens and a protein thin bagel. Then more Greek yoghurt with berries and vanilla protein powder stirred in for a snack later, and tea will be scrambled eggs, chicken slices and salad bits. I walked 5000 steps before work this morning and hoping to get to 10000 by the end of the day, and I’m going to a gym class tonight (scary!)

Good luck everyone who’s starting early - and enjoy your holidays / time before September kick off to everyone else!

I’m in! I’m 51 and have had a rough couple of years with illness that’s now controlled and I have more than two stone to lose but it’d be a start. I’m only just able to walk without pain but am going to invest in myself for the next couple of years. Anyone know of a cheaper than apple step counter watch thing that’s worth having? I’m mean, so if I buy something, I’ll. make the effort rather than waste the expenditure.

IOnlyNeedTheSilence · 19/08/2024 10:55

Started yesterday.

Start weight: 74.6kg
Target: 68kg

My fitbit is excellent and there is a whole range of prices

EatingHealthy · 19/08/2024 13:02

I'm in. Also planning to start at the beginning of September so will weigh myself then, but it's about two stone I want to lose

I really liked my Huawei smart watch - check them out on Amazon but mine was about £35.

Blosssom · 19/08/2024 13:06

I've somehow managed to fast until now but will have lunch soon. Lunch out at a Mexican restaurant, will have to try and find a healthy option.

My challenge will be keeping it going, usually if the scales don't move much after my first week of effort, I give up. This thread will help me!

DrFroggy · 19/08/2024 13:08

I would like to join. I am 47 and weigh 14st 4lbs this morning and I would like to set myself a target of losing 2 stone by Christmas. I plan to do this by eating better, not snacking and reducing alcohol. I have downloaded a meditation/hypnotism app which I find very relaxing but time will tell if it will make any actual difference!

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 19/08/2024 13:53

Kind of started today. I'm away next weekend for a boozy group weekend so I'm trying to be good for this week and then get back to it after. I'm not sure about 2 stone by Christmas but I will aim for 1 stone. I'm 47, 13 stone exactly. I was 14 stone this time last year and it took a lot of work. I've lost and regained 4 lbs recently so my goal is slow and steady, any loss that is a permanent loss will be celebrated.

youaremysunshine2623 · 19/08/2024 14:16

I’d like to join too! I’m a rare MN poster and always read the weight loss threads (but don’t always act on the advice). This one has resonated with me. A September start is perfect for me as my job situation has changed and I am likely to have a different work pattern/lifestylefrom early September. Im 48, several stone overweight (probably 3+) and have been considering monjero. I would like to have one (more) go at cracking this myself. It’s been 20+ years of trying to lose weight and the older I’m getting the harder it is. I plan to do intermittent fasting, eating window yet to be decided.

LazyLeopard · 19/08/2024 14:35

Can I join please? 42yo, suffers with hormones, and have allowed myself to float this year and eat and drink too much of the wrong stuff.

However, I've replaced my scales today for some smart scales (that was a shock) and I am going to start sorting myself out. Less turning to wine after a bad day at work, and pizza!

One step at a time. This week my aim is to change my lunches, and cut back on alcohol.

Edited to add, I'd really like to lose a stone by November.

lorisparkle · 19/08/2024 15:05

I have been trying really hard and today I actually saw the results on the scales! Only a tiny amount but it has seemed they were not budging for weeks!

I have an Apple Watch which I love for many reasons however I found the Fitbit far better for tracking steps.

NotPennysBoat · 19/08/2024 15:15

I'd like to join in please! I've followed dozens of these threads over the years but never had the courage to join - until now.

I'm 43 and I've had a shitty few years with way too many responsibilities, and my weight has crept up. I now weigh the most I ever have, even more than when I was full term pregnant with 2 DC!

I'm currently on holiday and was already feeling chubby, but last night I put on a nice dress & did my hair/make up - I thought I looked pretty decent! Looked back at the photos this morning, and OMG I'm so ashamed! The term "you can't polish a turd" comes to mind!

I need to do something, otherwise I'm setting myself up for a later life of pain & health issues, and ultimately a shorter life span. The time is now and I'm not going to put it off any longer. Count me in!

LazyLeopard · 19/08/2024 15:18

@lorisparkle YAY! This is great, well done!

@NotPennysBoat That sounds very like me! I knew my clothes were getting tighter, but I've always had decent arms and legs, but the holiday photos showed otherwise!

Pixie2015 · 19/08/2024 15:19

Would love to join too going to focus in September when kids go back to school

Yes this is me too - I know there will be some weeks when weight won't move or I can't do as much exercise/eat as healthy but does normally make me give in

Poppypop87 · 19/08/2024 18:21

@NotPennysBoat I can really relate to your last paragraph. I don't want to look back and wish I'd done more whilst young enough to make a difference to my health

QuarkBlisterbum · 20/08/2024 07:14

Ok I’ve bitten the bullet and weighed myself: My scales are really weird and I don’t know the correct weight because when I first step on them they give me one weight and then if I step off and back on they give me a weight that’s lb less. If I keep come off and stepping on after that then it continues with the lower weight. Anyone else have this?

So upper weight is 11st4.5lb and lower weight is 11st1.5lb. Either way, I’ve probably put on 2lb which is not too bad! I was expecting more like half a stone.

so I’d like to lose 1.5stone by Christmas I think. I don’t think I would want to be under 9.5stone as I’m 5’7” . I’m not technically overweight now but I look podgy as have a small frame. I also have no strength whatsoever so really want to change that by doing weights and building some muscle. That will probably slow my weightloss down.

I lost about 2.5 stone since last summer and feel so much better for it but need one last push for the final 1-1.5 stone which is MUCH harder to shift for me. Just doesn’t fall off like the initial weight did (it took hard work but the scales consistently went down which was really motivating). It has slowed down massively since hitting 11 stone.

yesteday I managed 2 litres of water and to pull a muscle exercising 🤣🤣

Stomachbiggerthantits · 20/08/2024 07:24

I’d love to join please!!

Big 50 in December and I’d love to be 2 stone lighter as I’m weighing in at 14 stone now. Weight is dominating my life and makes me so unhappy. Would be lovely to be on the same journey as others.

YorkshireLawyer · 20/08/2024 08:07

I’m in. I started yesterday after returning from holiday on Sunday. Starting weight 13st, so would like to lose 3-3.5st in total. 2st by Christmas would be amazing, but aiming for a minimum of 1.5st. Downfalls are portion size and alcohol, as well as lack of time - I work 4 days (though it often bleeds into 5 or more…) in a stressful job with very long hours, and have four kids! My plan is:

— Meal plan all meals and track everything on MFP - aiming for 1,500 cal with minimum 100g protein 6 days per week, and a slightly more relaxed 7th day (not a complete “cheat” day, but not worrying as much about hitting cals, protein etc)

— Reduce alcohol to (ideally) once or twice per week

— 2.5-3 litres of water per day

— Run 5k 3 x per week and weights (at home) 3 x per week - or at least 2 x per week each in a busy week

— Average at least 70,000 steps per week. 10,000 steps every day is unrealistic on a working day, or at least a working day in the office, due to long hours, sedentary job and then having to deal with kids, clubs etc in the evenings, but I’m hoping I can top up my step count on weekends and WFH days.

Started ok yesterday - stuck to cals and protein, 3.2 litres of water, a 5k run and walk with the kids and 18,840 steps. This morning I got up at 5.30 to do a weights session before heading into work, I’m already on 1.2 litres of water and have prepped and tracked food for the day which should see me within my plan. Feeling determined and motivated - but it’s only day 2!!! Will try to join the WhatsApp group as well.

Saschka · 20/08/2024 08:22

I’ve started 16:8, going from 8am to 4pm (so having breakfast, mid morning fruit and large mid-afternoon lunch). Will see how that goes.

Also going to restart couch to 5k, I used to run half marathons just 5 years ago, and would really love to get back to that as I miss it. Honestly if I didn’t lose weight but got back to my previous level of fitness, I’d probably still be happy (I’d be happier still if I managed both)

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 20/08/2024 08:57

Starting weight for me will be 11 stone 5. I’d like to lose 2 stone. I’ll aim for maybe 1 stone by Christmas. I might be able to push more.

Fasting midnight to midday which I can do as I don’t usually eat breakfast at work.

3L of water a day so I can take my salt tablets and they work. That’ll also help my blood pressure stabilise.

Im going to buy some vitamins for energy. Feel so sluggish all the time. I can’t go to gp to get checked as never any appointments.

We just bought some weights so dh and I will be doing exercise together in the evening. I’d like to try C25K again but when I go out running I always end up tripping and injuring myself on the uneven pathways 😅

Dh is already on it. He weighs 20 stone 5 and wants to get down to 15 stone in the end. He’s just taken a 2L water bottle into his office. He desperately needs it as his back is screwed.

Our new coats came! Mine a size 12 actually fits which I did not expect. Dh’s size 3XL doesn’t so he’s excited to get into it by winters. It nearly closes bless him.

So for me:
3L water a day
Vitamins
Fasting until midday
No takeaways
Cut down to one can of Diet Pepsi a day from my usual 5
Exercise each night
If I get time I might use gym at work but I start work at 7 so might not have time
Bike riding with dh and kids hopefully if I can get fit enough to manage it.
