Anyone have 2-3 stone to lose but DOES NOT use injectables

Anyone want a support thread to drop 2-3 stone but finding the ozempic/wegovy etc threads overwhelming on here. They aren't useful to me and there are so many threads on here about the damn stuff.

A previous thread I saw basically said diet and exercise without the injectables would fail for most. I don't want to touch the stuff for a variety of reasons but mainly the hideous side effects and pile on weight when you stop. Not to mention cost.

I'm looking to do it the "old fashioned" way... 1200-1500 calories on my fitness pal and exercise increasing. No particular time limit.

SW: 12 stone 2
I'm really short too so ideally I need to be 10 stone something max

I'm 40 and deffo in perimenopause

Yes I do. And don't use anything to help other than a natural supplement.
I've lost nearly two stone and probably should loose another two

Frlrlrubert · 26/05/2024 21:03

I'm a stone down (two months in) and two to go. Calorie counting.

Frlrlrubert · 26/05/2024 21:09

Also using MyFitnessPal and aiming for 1200 calories.

Start weight was 12st 6lb

Currently 11st 5lb

I'm 5'6" and should probably be about 9 and a half stone.

Penguinsa · 26/05/2024 21:11

I put on weight with cancer treatment and went out of normal BMI and had to lose 14kgs, now 13kgs are gone and that's been on a 1200 calorie diet plus 3 to 5 hours exercise a week but exercise can include gardening and strenuous housework. I do eat the calories for exercise. I am a few inches taller than you. Its taken from October to now but has been a steady 1 pound a week off. No alcohol, limited sugar and regular weighing myself. Swim around 3 miles a week. It is intense but feel the healthiest I have felt mentally and physically for a long time. Need to build up exercise gradually and its the calorie counting that reduces weight. You need to find the right calorie amount for you I took my don't put on weight figure 1600 plus activities and took off 400. Think its a lot healthier way to do like this and is doable but requires a lot of willpower.

NotARealWookiie · 26/05/2024 21:12

I do…I think I’m nearly 14 stone..but I am tall and I have just had a baby. I think I’ve said ”the diet starts monday” weekly for a month… I’m also 40 …

BCBird · 26/05/2024 21:13

Need to lose just over 3 ànd a h more. Am doing weight watchers

Janedoe82 · 26/05/2024 21:17

I lost three stone after having second child. I did it in five months using my fitness pal religiously and walking three miles five times a week with the pram. Kept it off. Highly recommend my fitness pal.

StripedPiggy · 26/05/2024 21:18

I lost 35kg without any drugs or a gastric sleeve or anything like that. And I kept it off.

Losing weight is easy. You just have to eat less & better and move more. Ideally, eat a lot less & move a lot more. Anyone can do that. If I could, believe me, anyone can. The challenging bit is understanding that significant weight loss is a marathon not a sprint, and the process isn’t a ‘diet’, it’s a permanent lifestyle change.

MsFogi · 26/05/2024 21:20

I need this thread - I need to lose 3 stone. I have just paid for Nutracheck and am starting tomorrow!

KimFan · 26/05/2024 21:26

Yes please! There is SO much injectable chat on here and I have to say I’m extremely tempted but am just nervous about side effects and long term issues that haven’t been discovered yet. I’m 40 and need to lose about 3 stone. I’m following the old WW plan when it was just points (Discover Plan). Finding it so difficult to stay motivated though… this thread/group will help! ☺️

notzoe · 26/05/2024 21:29

I feel the same as you. Do not want to go near them and tbf don’t have enough weight to lose anyway.

Two stone would be perfection for me.

Alainlechat · 26/05/2024 21:37

I had 2.5 stone to lose back in Feb, half a stone now to go. I honestly thought the weight loss injections were when you wanted to lose more weight than I had though I did tip into the obese bmi range.

From what I have now read on here you do have to eat less when on them, they are not an eat what you like and lose weight but they do curb your appetite.

I have achieved the 2st loss following the fast 800 and really reducing the upfs and sugar.

I'm 54.

IWFH · 26/05/2024 21:43

I had 3-4 stone to lose.
Started mid March and have lost over 1.5 stone so far.
I've simply cut out added sugar, white flour, potatoes and white rice. Also cut out fruit juice and I'm drinking far more water. I'm not counting calories or restricting how much I eat and never feel hungry. No supplements or injections at all.

dreamstates · 26/05/2024 21:53

Welcome everyone.

I've tried all the diets over the years. I've got all the equipment exercise wise. I have a PT come to my house every week and i have a peloton. It's the food though. I've got a terrible sweet tooth and a few very very fussy kids so we end up eating the same old stuff.. fajitas, pasta, freezer food, pizza and salad, fishfingers.

I know what works best for me is writing it all down. And NOT eating what my kids eat 🤣

I don't drink nearly enough water.. I barely feel thirst and get distracted with work.

I have a stressful job and sit on my arse for 8 hours a day

I don't drink alcohol as it doesn't agree with me (even though I miss it)

Also... I have a husband that loves junk food. He loves Pringles and chocolate and burgers and pizza. He's got high very cholesterol though so needs to join me really. He sometimes sabotages my efforts!

I don't think I eat enough protein either. Any tips on how to sub out done of the processed shit with some decent protein.

I'm not a lover of eggs.

Does anyone like protein shakes?

OP posts:
KimFan · 26/05/2024 22:04

I can’t drink protein shakes as they are made with whey and I am hugely intolerant to it. I do like the new Alpro Greek style yoghurts though. They are high in protein but dairy free and I do find that one in the morning with some fruit fills me up until lunchtime.

Lifeisgood1 · 26/05/2024 22:15

Hey I'm starting my fitness pal (again!) Tomorrow. Want to get some weight off before my holiday in October (hoping at least 2 stone - fingers crossed!).

LizzieBennett73 · 26/05/2024 22:24

4 stone down here, and really would like to lose another 3 but it's now getting really hard. T2 diabetic, and had to alter my diet since turning 50 as carbs and I are no longer friends and my blood sugars had gone through the roof. Ironically am struggling on Metformin and GP recommended Wegovy but they can't source it. Reading the threads on here, little wonder.....

I follow a lower carb (not keto) diet, am vegetarian and try to avoid meat substitutes to eat as naturally as I can though it's not always easy! I really like purition shakes as they're entirely natural, whey free if you go for the vegan and aren't horribly over sweetened. I have one most days for breakfast or otherwise use the powder with greek yogurt (soya) and frozen berries.

Frlrlrubert · 26/05/2024 22:36

Carbs are not my friend either.

I tend to go for options like 'massive chicken salad' I marinade skinless boneless chicken thighs (breast is better for you calorie-wise but I find it too dry) in the entire contents of the spice rack and then grill, otherwise it's too boring.

I do like eggs so many veg omelette is also a go to for me.

My 7 yr old lives on carbs and cheese so definitely can't eat the same meals!

My husband eats a lot of additional toast at the moment 😂

Penguinsa · 26/05/2024 22:46

I have an asd child so similar diet to your kids, other child is NT but very sporty and eats like a horse. I almost never eat pizza or pasta now and that helps - if I do will just have a couple of slices of veg pizza or a similar light one thin crust but that's very occasionally like a special occasion for DD. Try my best to avoid desserts which is hard as I have a sweet tooth but after the first few days it becomes much easier and I haven't eliminated it altogether.

Drinks I am careful on and have fizzy water with lime juice or earl grey tea or normal tea with milk but no sugar. If I am going swimming I take DH, and that has done him good and means we can chat and swim and we do have the odd coffee there but I swim a mile after. I have lost 13 of 14kgs gained in cancer treatment but will keep going until my DIEP surgery, have 1kg left to normal BMI but look better thinner and more around BMI of 22ish, that should be Octoberish and will carry on losing 1lb a week or so to end September ish.

I would get your DH to healthier eat with you, actually using lots of fruit and veg can be really nice. And don't buy snacks and have them near you.

Penguinsa · 26/05/2024 22:52

Like today I had a roast chicken Sunday lunch with veg and potatoes and Yorkshires and for dinner I just had a chicken and sweetcorn sandwich then for drinks have had sparkling water with lime and earl grey tea. I have had a massive ice cream craving today though as had one yesterday whilst out walking round Wisley gardens for a couple of hours but I know I must resist so I will. I have the odd shortbread biscuit and odd slice of cake but the cake does take quite a lot of calories up so try not to. If you have sugar tends to push appetite appetite but I also can't do no sugar as get quite ill feeling, shaky, sick and weak so I do low sugar. If I do eat sugary or salty things weight goes up 1kg overnight but does come down again straightaway, well after 24 hours of going low sugar again. I also have a photo of me pre cancer on screensaver thin to inspire me.

HAF1119 · 26/05/2024 23:00

I'm in :) I started at 20st 1lb back in Jan and now 18st 2lb. Would like to get to 14 or 15st

No injectables or tablets :) though I am a little hungry at times (and hangry) 🤣

TiffanyLamp · 27/05/2024 07:14

Hope it’s okay to join. I’m using myfitnespal. SW 13stone 10 CW 13st 7 after a week.
TW 11st.

I’m 53 and feel like I’ve put on a stone each decade and don’t want to heave myself around as I get older.
Cut out sugar in tea, plus biscuits (do a bit of home baking instead). Also going to the gym 2-3 times a week: spinning and weights
However caveat my doctor also prescribed me Orlistat (fat blocker capsules )

I looked at the injectables but they looked really scary. Also didn’t want to lose my appetite completely as I like to cook and eat.

something I found really helpful is the « adult portion plate » I bought mine from matalan but they have them on Amazon. It’s half for salad vegetables, 1/4 for protein, 1/4 for carbs. Then I’m logging everything in MFP. So trying to keep my protein as high as possible (1/3 of my daily intake)

Finally doing 16:8 intermittent fasting so trying not to eat before noon and being done by 8pm

DirtyDensDog · 27/05/2024 08:46

Morning, is it ok if I join you?

I started on Saturday with a weigh in of 11st 11.5 lbs.

I decided to start on Slimfast for five days, shakes three times per day plus fruit. I need to have a reset from constant bingeing on trash food. It's actually easy as I don't have to make any decisions regarding food.

I thought that I would be starving but the slimfast is really filling. Hopefully I can last the 5 days and it will give me a kick start.

Yes I do. And don't use anything to help other than a natural supplement.
I've lost nearly two stone and probably should loose another two

May I ask what the supplement is? I'm looking for anything to help curb my cravings but like the OP I have no faith in injectables.
