Anyone have 2-3 stone to lose but DOES NOT use injectables

Anyone want a support thread to drop 2-3 stone but finding the ozempic/wegovy etc threads overwhelming on here. They aren't useful to me and there are so many threads on here about the damn stuff.

A previous thread I saw basically said diet and exercise without the injectables would fail for most. I don't want to touch the stuff for a variety of reasons but mainly the hideous side effects and pile on weight when you stop. Not to mention cost.

I'm looking to do it the "old fashioned" way... 1200-1500 calories on my fitness pal and exercise increasing. No particular time limit.

SW: 12 stone 2
I'm really short too so ideally I need to be 10 stone something max

I'm 40 and deffo in perimenopause

YES! Im 56, I weigh 13 stone (or very nearly) and am 5'6". I've already lost 1 stone 6lb, but it's taken me a long time and I've been static for about a year. In fact I put 6-7lb back on.

I want to be 10st7lb -11st ideally.

I need some help do this....

I'm in a similar boat however I feel a bit at a loss BC I don't eat a lot and I don't eat bad food yet I struggle to lose weight. I'm also vegan so that automatically cuts out a lot of sweets, not that I have a sweet tooth. I don't eat a lot of processed food, go more for whole foods, don't eat sweets or drink soda. I also don't drink alcohol often. I always hate it when I see people say, oh I cut out x and lost 20 pounds! For me there isn't a specific thing to cut out so I never know what to do. I do however have a sedentary job and work from home so I'm sure my activity levels could be higher.

Anyway, Husband and I have decided that we are going to buy a peloton tread (we already have the bike and pay the monthly subscription cost so made sense). The plan is to use it multiple times throughout the day to always make sure I hit 10k steps. We will see if this helps!

Bumblebeebum23 · 28/05/2024 17:13

Sounds like you are off to a good start @dreamstates, well done. I know fast800 has so great results for people.

Yes, being a short arse is a pain! I'm dumpy, too. My tummy's not too bad, but I carry all my weight on my legs and bum (and arms!). Even when I've been at my skinniest, my legs look chunky! But trying to get in the mindset of feeling healthier and less self-conscious.

Just pointing out that people using injectables are also following Calorie counting, low carb, fasting, keto , Weight watchers exercise regimes etc. All the things you are mentioning here.
They are just doing them with a bit of apatite suppression to avoid being starving and thinking about food all day . They aren't injecting and waking up thin.

I don’t think this is the thread for this no one is asking for you to defend it, they wanted to come here and talk about non injectable weight loss, I don’t blame them it’s taking up the entire board and the calorie counting board is pretty dead. You do you and let everyone else do their own thing!

EmeraldRoulette · 28/05/2024 19:47

I'm very short as well, I have to accept that even at goal weight, I'm going to look a certain way. Being short causes issues with outfits too.

I do find exercise really helps with the appearance factor, tbh it's mostly a vanity thing for me.

But also I really want to get fit again and being sluggish from overeating doesn't help with that!

I dragged myself through a workout yesterday thinking it felt harder than it should do, but that's because I'm carrying extra weight around.

If I could stick with my planned food intake, I'll be making progress.

I hear you! I cook almost everything from scratch and have great variety of foods. Even if I have something sweet it's homemade and I've reduced the sugar.
My DP thinks I need to up protein, I'm not vegan but eat mostly veggie food.
I've logged food for a few days now and I am definitely low in protein and I wonder if that is part of the problem? If you are vegan it can be hard to get the protein in too so worth checking

socks1107 · 28/05/2024 21:02

For protein I have an Aldi shake daily. Should probably find it naturally but it works for me

Yeah, I have thought the same. The days I work out I drink a high protein protein shake, but I don't load up on protein daily. I also do think we are told to eat way more protein than we actually have to but I could be wrong.

I have been doing a barre workout now for the past few months though and I see the weight starting to shift, esp in my legs. My mom is a doctor and she always says the best way to lose weight is with reduced calories and low intensity workouts, things like barre, pilates, yoga. She always tells me to stay away from cardio, which is not usually something you hear people say, however she knows how the human body works so I've just been following her guidance.

Menora · 28/05/2024 21:41

That shake is pretty high cal, you can get protein in Greek yoghurt or cottage cheese more easily I find. A small one is at least calories and they aren’t very big

I mix my cottage cheese with marmite to make it taste better 😂

Totally agree, I'm a bit of a lazy eater but I do calorie count it.
I should probably find it in different ways though Greek yogurt sounds good

Forgot about the existence of cottage cheese ! Will try for lunch tomorrow (maybe marmite too lol)

Menora · 28/05/2024 21:46

Protein is not useless in terms of satiation and building muscle but you don’t need extreme amounts of it. Not enough of it will leave you hungrier

I think it’s around 0.7g - 100g per kilo of body weight, or it can be easier to say it’s 30-40% of your calories. I do try to eat 80-100g a day and make it 30+% of my intake and it has had good results with some muscle building (not extreme or anything) and also helping keep me full up

startyourengines · 28/05/2024 21:47

Me

Keepthosenamesgoing · 28/05/2024 21:47

@UnfriendMe I am around 30/40g protein a day so by any measure it's low. Which honestly I hadn't realised until I logged. Today I added protein powder to my breakfast yoghurt and still didn't get past 60g.

Menora · 28/05/2024 21:48

I have started mixing Greek yoghurt with other things and freezing it to make myself believe it’s a lovely ice cream 😂 (it deffo isn’t)

Menora · 28/05/2024 21:50

The low fat cottage cheese is so bloody watery, I do eat the full fat one more often

Nat6999 · 29/05/2024 00:33

Me, I'm emetaphobic, so won't risk the injections because of the chance of nausea & sickness. I lost 2.5 stone when I had pneumonia that took 3 months to clear at the end of last year, I've managed to keep that off & would like to lose another 3 stones. I'm just trying to maintain my previous loss at the moment before then going to try & lose the rest.

Nat6999 · 29/05/2024 00:49

I'm upping my protein, I've got problems with eating as I've lost a lot of teeth due to illness so can't chew things like meat, I've started making Angel Delight & adding a couple of scoops of protein powder & porridge oats, I have this for breakfast with frozen fruit, it's the only thing I can eat that contains milk, I don't like yoghurt, one pack makes me 4 breakfasts. I cook things with mince as I can manage to chew it, so I do a pot of chilli con carne with loads of veg & freeze in portion sized servings & have one of those bags of frozen rice from M & S, my breakfast works out at 350 calories & my tea around 600, I alow 250 calories for drinks, snacks & treats. I do 2 days a week where I only have maybe 400 calories & don't struggle with that, today I've had a boiled egg for breakfast, steamed tenderstem broccoli & asparagus for tea with a solero for a treat.

Wooloohooloo · 29/05/2024 08:16

Can I join? I have 1.5 stones to lose. Start weight around 12 stone (not exactly sure but will know on Thurs), goal weight 10st 5. I'm 5'5".

I do calorie counting but do go to Slimming World for support & accountability but haven't been for a couple of weeks.

I have yo yoed a lot in my life but piled on over a stone after losing my dad earlier this year and haven't been able to shift it. I'm a classic comfort eater & I'm also very greedy and just love food, whatever my mood.

Hoping to have a reset this week and re-focus on myself and my health etc.

dreamstates · 29/05/2024 09:31

@Wooloohooloo welcome. Sorry to hear about your loss. It's completely understandable that weight wasn't on your mind during that tough time.

I wish I was one of those folk that goes off their food at times of stress/upset/grief but I'm the opposite I'm afraid. Food provides comfort and I end up craving the worst type of foods.

Today I cycled for an hour, swam for 1/2 hr and did a couple of hours of gardening.

I'm doing a free trial of slimpod which is an NLP recording you listen to at night as you fall asleep and hopefully helps reset my relationship with food.

I'm after reducing my calories too but I find the counting soooo boring.

@SushiAndRamen do you feel the tracks are working at all? I feel I need something like this….

Whitters1984 · 29/05/2024 17:29

Yes 12 stone 2, 39, 5 foot 7 . Just started on 1300 calories a day this week so hoping I loose something . I really want to be in the 10's somewhere

LadyHester · 29/05/2024 20:04

Well just finished my first proper day. Rice cakes. Chocolate covered almonds. Shroom Bar. Mushroom risotto.
Not the most fun in the world.

Is this all you ate?
I am not sure what your goal is but this is usually a long road and you might need to get more creative with filling tasty foods. I would be feeling pretty miserable eating that.

calories can go a long way if you use your imagination and then it is less of an awful experience. I’m happy to help you if I can although I am not vegan, are you vegan?
