10st plus to lose - part 3

ShinyPikachu · 26/04/2024 13:22

A big welcome to anyone who wants to join us on bigger weight loss journeys.

We are all following our own methods, whatever works for each of us and no judgment for anyone who falls off the wagon for a bit either. We've all been there and know we're on a marathon and not a sprint.

Part three, let's go!

Hello and thank you for the new thread. I read what you said much earlier Pikachu about your toxic mother, I had exactly the same and it really leaves lifelong problems. I'm determined to get all the weight out of my head as well as my body. I'm finally free at last.

ChristmasLightsLover · 26/04/2024 14:14

Hello! I'm here. Going to go back through thread two and catch up.

Trying to increase my protein intake. Had soup, with ham and tomatoes for lunch. And then scraped the near empty Nutella jar. Not sure why I did the latter. I wasn't hungry. I didn't need it. Hate it when I don't help myself with stuff like this.

JumpingIntoLCHF · 26/04/2024 15:07

Just checking in. Thank you.

Sunshineandrainbow · 26/04/2024 18:04

Thanks@ShinyPikachu a brand new shiny thread

I hate photos too so feel your pain. I sometimes think my children will have none for my funeral :(

DuckWithOneWing · 26/04/2024 18:09

@Sunshineandrainbow my mum died about 20 years ago, but recently when going through old photos I realised I have more photos of a horse we met on holiday once than my own mother! I have about 10 photos of my mum, and that's even including ones from before I was born. I don't care if she looks fat or if she doesn't like her hair or whatever, I just wanted something to remember her by.

I’m new to this one, but have 4 stone to lose, I lost 7 stone previously, but 3 stone crept back after having our daughter.. she’s 3 now though so time to start getting my arse in gear properly!

when I lost the weight before I found the sweet cravings after a meal too hard to deal with so started having a hot chocolate straight after a meal.. I know it’s not healthy, but it stopped my immediate craving, and seemed to stop my sweet tooth kicking in later in the evening too!

chalkyc2 · 27/04/2024 06:31

🙌 here for the shiny new thread!!

I'm still on a plateau/maintenance. 8 stone down over the last year and at least one more to go when I can summon up the determination! Hovering just above healthy bmi so would be good to have a last push to get there.

Sammysees · 27/04/2024 10:12

Checking in too. I stayed the same this week which is really disappointing when you feel you are doing everything right.
SW - 295lbs
CW - 283lbs
Still such a long way to go and it feels overwhelming.

DuckWithOneWing · 27/04/2024 11:31

I did a Parkrun this morning! It took 52 minutes to complete the 5k course.

Echoes89 · 27/04/2024 11:51

Joining again. Not making any progress need a kick up the backside to be honest

Sammysees · 27/04/2024 13:07

That’s amazing @DuckWithOneWing

DuckWithOneWing · 27/04/2024 11:31

I did a Parkrun this morning! It took 52 minutes to complete the 5k course.

Well done! I haven’t dared yet. Have just repeated week 7 of c25k, but am only covering around 3k in my 25minute shuffles. 28minutes from Monday, but am finding it really difficult to pick up the pace. Not sure I will enjoy an event as I feel a bit exposed, but I want to be capable of doing it if I choose. I was overtaken by a brisk walker to give an idea of how slow I am.

Sammysees · 27/04/2024 13:10

@PreesHeath but you are making the effort. This is commendable from a couch potato who is still in her pj’s. I applaud both you and @DuckWithOneWing.

chalkyc2 · 27/04/2024 13:37

I have to say I have ZERO desire to do parkrun. I hate running with people. I hate arriving at a start and sorting out logistics and going to the loo. I'm perfectly happy doing my own little routes straight from my house and not being mortified at being overtaken by 5 year olds and people with buggies - but I do appreciate that some find it motivating!!!!

Did a little 5.5 k this morning but have mostly been using the peloton due to a calf niggle. I also try and build in as much kind of natural activity as possible - stairs rather than escalator, walk rather than bus etc.!

DuckWithOneWing · 27/04/2024 17:47

Yay @Echoes89 it's nice to see you back!

Thanks everyone! I didn't run all of it, but I really enjoyed it. I usually work Saturdays but I was off today so thought I'd go along. Hopefully I'll go back in a few weeks as I'm off again then too. @PreesHeath I can only dream about being on week 7! I'm kinda on week 4. I don't feel I can really count today as a couch too 5k run as I left my headphones at home so don't think I did the ratio of running and walking.

ShinyPikachu · 29/04/2024 07:04

Great to see so many of you on our shiny new thread already.

I'm sorry you've gone through similar with your mum @Neveralonewithaclone it's crazy how much it still affects us, and of course they never have any recollection of the comments even if you do try to confront it. You make such a good point about getting the weight out of your head as well. Flowers

Well done on all the activity from everyone too. I'm hoping to get walking more now the weather is starting to get a bit nicer. I don't want it too nice though, I sweat way too easily and hot days are hellish for me for anything other than just sitting in the garden.

I had another loss this week so I'm back to a 1 stone loss. Grin

SW: 19st 11.6lb
CW: 18st 11.3lb
Total loss: 1st 0.3lb

Now I just need to not balls it up again. Blush

Morning! I started two weeks ago doing intermittent fasting, it’s worked for me in the past and I seem to have turned a corner now in that I don’t feel hungry in between meals now, I’m starting meal prepping this week, so I’m hoping that will help me make better choices and try and get more veg intake!

SW: 16st 13lb
CW: 16st 7lb
GW: 13st
total loss: 6lb

DuckWithOneWing · 29/04/2024 09:23

Just over 1kg off for me this week, which is about 2 lbs so I'm pleased.

@ShinyPikachu one of the reasons I want to lose weight is so I'm less sweaty in summer! So keep going and the heat might be more bearable.

mondaytosunday · 29/04/2024 09:45

I have found my people!
I've lost over a stone in three weeks (I don't really do stones, I use kilos, but it seems the currency on this thread). But I have 11 more to go! And shockingly my starting weight three weeks ago was not my highest ever weight.
I'm very tall and kid myself that I carry it well. Then I see a pic and it's horrendous. I'm flying to Spain in about 8 weeks and the mortification of possibly needing a seat belt extender is keeping me focused. I know what weight I need to be (21 stone or less) so that's two and a half stone I need off by then! So that's my mini goal, overall I'd like to be just over 12 stone (size 12-14) or 80kg. I'll be ok to take this much slower after my Spanish holiday - a stone every six weeks has been my rate in the past. I lost just under 10 stone in my late 30s, gained it and more over two pregnancies and developing type 1 diabetes. I've had a few times since when I've lost a couple stone but never been able to maintain it. The lockdowns were terrible in terms of weight gain!
SW: 24.9 st (158.6kg) size 24
CW): 23.8 st (151.6kg)
GW: 12.5 st (80kg) size 12-14

PreesHeath · 29/04/2024 09:54

Well done losers, and welcome joiners!

So - I've gained, +12lb! (how is that even possible in 3 weeks off track and 2 weeks more or less back on track?)

Sw 20 st 2
cw 14 stone 13 (was 14 st 1)
mini gw 13 st 2 ( 7 stone off)
gw 10 st 6

Am training for climbing Scafell Pike at half term. Stair climbing machine at the gym and knee strengthening exercises. Don't want a repeat of Snowdon in September when my knees turned to jelly about quarter of the way back down, and I thought I'd have to be winched off the mountain. I made it, but it wasn't pleasant. I really wanted to have lost more weight by now, but I am where I am. Onwards!

ShinyPikachu · 29/04/2024 10:16

@DuckWithOneWing - I'm hoping losing weight will help a bit but with my fibromyalgia my temperature regulation is totally shot anyway (plus I'm pretty sure I'm hitting peri-menopause now too) so I'll always have issues being sweaty on hot days but anything that helps is always good.

Neveralonewithaclone · 30/04/2024 10:33

I'm annoyed 😁

How can I be this fat and not have the weight magically melt away? Riddle me that!

So sw was 18¾ and I'm now at 18½. I can't see more detail than that, it'll have to do. I'm only 5'3" so tons to lose. I wake up every day thinking 'bound to have lost TONS overnight!'

I have to weigh myself every morning or i will lie to myself that I'm slim now. I'm moving house in a couple of months and I want to look more ordinary for moving in and I want to be fit enough to take advantage of all the lovely walks around my new place.

Blimey, you've done so well!

It annoys me so much how quick weight gain can go on and how hard it is to shift! Don't let your gain put you off, you've obviously got a system that works for you.

I climbed a little mountain in wales a few years ago when I was a bit less heavy then I am now and I remember stopping and 'looking around at the scenery' quite a lot on the way up.. it wasn't that, it was just that I felt I was about to die and needed to turn away from my DH to desperately to catch my breath! He must have known but he pretended he didn't bless him, we did it though and it was brilliant, I felt a real sense of achievement and the views were spectacular at the top, I wouldn't be able to do it right now, as I got way too lazy over this winter, but I've been building up to doing more and more this summer, I love being active, but I also love sitting down eating chocolate!

This is me too! I'm quite tall and seem to carry weight quite well up to a certain weight, but I'm the heaviest I've been for a while and I catch sight of myself in a mirror and realise I am kidding no one!

I lost 7 stone in my 30's, and found it quite effortless once I'd got my head around a system, I put 4 back on and now I'm in my 40s it seems almost impossible and has been pestering my for the last couple of years, coming on these groups and reading other peoples stories is really motivating me though! I don't know why I didn't do it before!

Sammysees · 30/04/2024 20:23

I think you are all doing brilliantly and are very inspiring. Yes, we may have gains sometimes. That’s life. It really keeps me motivated reading all your posts and I am in awe of all you mountain climbers. I struggle to get up the stairs!
