The last 10lb

Does anyone fancy joining a support thread for losing the final 10-14lb? I've lost over 20lb now, and since hitting the overweight/healthy weight borderline it's become so much harder! I've been gaining and losing the same 2lb for almost a fortnight. I'm doing calorie counting, eating healthier, drinking lots of water, and walking more.

SW: 11 stone 4
CW: 9 stone 10-11
GW: about 9 stone or slightly under

I have an event in early June and I'd really like to be comfortably around 9 stone 5 by then. I would also like to get back into my pre-Covid clothes!

It's SO hard when you start getting nearer to where you want to be isn't it?! I lost 3.5 stone last year, then regained 3 stone. Have now lost 2 stone again, but struggling so much to lose any more, and have been at a plateau for weeks, despite going to the gym 4 times a week, running at weekends and eating 1400 calories a day. I'm so sick of it! I need to lose another 20lb to be where I want to be, and I thought I could comfortably achieve that by the end of July, but it would appear not!

SW: 14.8
CW: 12
GW: 10:7

PlateauArgh · 21/04/2024 11:18

Yes, definitely! And it's so much easier to stay motivated when you're actually seeing results.

OP posts:
AhBiscuits · 21/04/2024 11:18

I'm game.

SW: 13st 7.8
CW: 11st 0.2
GW: 10st 6

My initial goal is only 8lbs away but I could do with losing another stone really, so a bit of wiggle room.

PrimroseYellow1 · 21/04/2024 11:43

Yes, I am in. I am now doing Fast800 to try and get to the finish line. So much happier having lost the weight I have. Huge bust has gone down a size, I can feel my shoulder bones after years of being covered in fat. I still have rolls on my tummy and my waist is in the unhealthy range according to NHS.

SW 11st 7
CW 9st 9
GW 8st 12

NahThen · 21/04/2024 11:44

@PlateauArgh our stats are almost exactly the same! I started at 11st2lb forever ago. I keep flip flopping between 9.9-9.11.
Looking back at MFP it's been up and down like this for about 2 months now!
I don't think 9st will necessarily be sustainable for me but I just want to see what it looks like 😂

Event also end of June. I try and calorie count but make a lot of food from scratch and sometimes it's more of a guesstimate than carefully counted.

I plateaued at 10st4ish for ages but being a bit stricted on counting and introducing daily pilates helped get things moving again. Sometimes I do think it takes a little bit of time and consistency then there's a 'whoosh' but it's bloody frustrating!

AhBiscuits · 21/04/2024 11:54

I've just entered a 10k in September and every lb makes running easier and faster.

Menora · 21/04/2024 12:20

I will join, I am on the last stretch and it’s so hard!

I started at 15st 6 and I have just hit 11st 6 after 12 months. I’m trying to get closer to 10st 7.

I’m motivated to keep going it’s just seeing less than half a kg coming off a week and sometimes gain/loss cycles.

Measure yourself though not just on the scales. Seeing my inches go down is a good motivation

PlateauArgh · 21/04/2024 12:42

@Menora Good idea about measuring. I remembered a pair of trousers I bought last summer and couldn't do up - just dug them out and I can now fasten them! They look ok-ish standing still, so my mini-target will be when they fit comfortably with no pulling across the front.

@NahThen I am hoping for a whoosh any day now! I seem to hit a plateau every 3lb or so.

Good luck! It's amazing how much difference it makes, isn't it? I knew I had to lose weight when I started getting leg and foot pain, and it disappeared within half a stone.

PlateauArgh · 22/04/2024 09:54

9 stone 11.2

It feels like I am never going to see 9 stone 9 again! I had my period last week so was hoping there was some water retention that would go away. Fingers crossed for some change this week!

OP posts:
Frankgodno · 22/04/2024 10:08

Can I join too? My numbers are very similar - current weight 9st 11 and goal weight 9 st. I have lost 3 stone overall but have been very stagnant at 10st/9st 11-13lbs for far too long.

Calorie counting and exercising as much as possible, drinking lots of water etc.
I weigh each morning and use happy scale app.

we can to this everyone 😃

babyproblems · 22/04/2024 10:12

Also struggling with the last few lbs here!!
Pre baby I was 9st4 and shot up to 13st when I was pregnant!!! Now back to 10st2 so would love to lose one more kg.
Water water water! And gym twice a week. I love the stepper for burning fat. I find it’s magic! Bit of daily yoga aswell works wonders for me.

Tisfortired · 22/04/2024 10:13

I’ll join. I started to lose weight in January for my wedding in June and am now 7lbs away from my goal but I don’t know where my motivation has gone! Like you I have been gaining and losing the same couple of lbs for a fortnight.

SW - 11st 8lb
CW - 10st 7lb
GW - 10st 0lb

I am 100% back on it today. I will be so annoyed with myself if I get to my wedding and honeymoon in June and didn’t reach my target because I got bored at the end!

EauNeu · 22/04/2024 10:17

I'm in.
Sw 13 odd stone, not exactly sure
Cw between 9 stone 5 and 9 stone 7
Gw 8 stone 12 (unsure if I can maintain that but like pp want to see how I feel)

I've been essentially in maintenance for last 6 months at an average 1400 calories. Plan is to refocus on 1200 plus 10k steps a day.
Pondering doing 800 for 2 weeks as a relaunch. That seems hard though

PrimroseYellow1 · 22/04/2024 10:29

@Menora well done on your 4 stone weight loss in 12 months! That’s impressive. Good shout on measuring.

I have promised myself a massive wardrobe clear out when I get to 9st but I do have a 20 year old pair of tailored trousers (Karen Millen I think) that I am going to dig out and see how many inches off I am. They were my go to trousers I could rely on when I was both skinny or (shock horror) had to lose 7 lbs back in the day. Of course back in the day 8st 7lbs was my OMG I need to lose weight flag. I didn’t know I was born 😂.

PlateauArgh · 22/04/2024 10:33

Yes, I remember being horrified at 9 stone 3! That feels like a very long time ago now!

OP posts:
PrimroseYellow1 · 22/04/2024 10:42

@PlateauArgh haha yeah, I literally used to turn down all invitations if I hit 8st 7lbs, ate apples and cottage cheese with black pepper for a week and then got back out there.

loveyouradvice · 22/04/2024 11:21

What a great idea for a thread @PlateauArgh Thank you!

Yes, this is me too...

SW: 14.2
CW: 11.11 (and was 11.8 just 2 weeks ago)
GW: 11.2 so 9lbs to go

I'm tall with a very curvy figure so I'm happy with 11.2 which is well within a healthy BMI... and yes, I so get the contrast to when I was younger: I weighed 9.7 typically and was so shocked if I ever went over 10.0!!!

AhBiscuits · 22/04/2024 11:22

I remember the first time I joined weight watchers when I was about 25 I weighed 10st 12. That's pretty much my goal now.

Menora · 22/04/2024 11:36

I don’t know if I have ever been 8 or 9st as an adult!

I think I am a medium build which you can tell by measuring your wrists I also have medium sized feet and hands and I think my body type is endomorph so I have no hope in any way of ever being slimmer than about 10st and even that would be a push 😂 I’m 5ft 5.5 (under 5ft 6…) and a 6inch wrist. I have wide hips and this is the area I struggle to lose any weight

Menora · 22/04/2024 11:41

I had to buy a lot of new clothes even though I am not finished I had no trousers.

At 10st 7lbs I think I will be an easy size 12, size 10 if it’s stretchy. Can get in most size 12’s now. I was a size 18. It’s so strange seeing the clothes I was wearing, I still don’t feel smaller sometimes at all, but I am

PrimroseYellow1 · 22/04/2024 14:21

Reporting back on my go to tailored trousers try on, they fit over thighs fine but I couldn’t do the side zip up over hips and tummy fat roll. Measured and I need to lose 7” to close that zip. I can definitely lose a couple of inches but 7 is a lot!

PlateauArgh · 22/04/2024 14:51

@PrimroseYellow1 I know what you mean, I look at some of my clothes and wonder how they were ever comfortable. But I was that size before, so am determined to at least try to get close to it again!

OP posts:
PrimroseYellow1 · 22/04/2024 18:58

@PlateauArgh yes I am up for seeing how close I can get too. I feel strong and according to my bmi I can lose lots more weight. Let’s see!

NahThen · 22/04/2024 20:07

@PrimroseYellow1 I'm not sure about you but my body shape has completely changed as I've got older/since having DC. Although I weigh less now than I did before DC, I don't have anywhere near the waist I used to have! So maybe your trousers aren't the best measure?!

I've been trying to think of where I go wrong. I mean obviously sometimes I just eat too much so am not in a calorie deficit but what the danger zones are.

1 is definitely after my evening meal. I start thinking about what "treat" I'm going to have before I've even finished!

2 is I have too big a portion for my evening meal. Looking back it averages about 750 cals. 300-400 for lunch. Doesn't leave much room for treats or snacks and realistically it's far too big a portion, I'm often way too full (like now!).

Last one for now, If I'm not organised/planned lunch, my mind goes blank, I eat rubbish and write the whole day off. Or graze on bits thinking "I'll just wait til teatime" but get too hungry and eat junk.

So a few things I need to address/tweak. Anyone else?
