The last 10lb

PlateauArgh · 21/04/2024 10:49

Does anyone fancy joining a support thread for losing the final 10-14lb? I've lost over 20lb now, and since hitting the overweight/healthy weight borderline it's become so much harder! I've been gaining and losing the same 2lb for almost a fortnight. I'm doing calorie counting, eating healthier, drinking lots of water, and walking more.

SW: 11 stone 4
CW: 9 stone 10-11
GW: about 9 stone or slightly under

I have an event in early June and I'd really like to be comfortably around 9 stone 5 by then. I would also like to get back into my pre-Covid clothes!

@Menora @loveyouradvice well done on your weight loss, that’s very impressive.

I don’t calorie count. I follow Fast800 food guidelines and do it as OMAD but I don’t ever bother counting veg. Last night I had 2 fresh mackerel fillets, leeks, spinach, asparagus and 4 new potatoes skin on. My view is that’s a nutritious meal without any bad carbs. What made me gain weight in the first place was largely bread making every day during lockdown! I can’t even look at bread. I even love the really brick like dark rye bread, if I start I can’t stop eating it.

Frankgodno · 27/04/2024 10:45

Well done everyone so far!!

9 st 11.8 today.
Feeling a bit meh today, has been a tricky week and think it has all hit me today. Taking a day off calorie counting today, will still be sensible but just need to rest.

Alainlechat · 27/04/2024 10:53

Hello can join too? I started back in Feb at 13:12 and now weight 12:06. Aiming to get one more stone off before July to get me in the healthy BMI under 25 from a starting point of 30.

I have been following the fast 800 for 8 weeks and plan to do for 4 more.

SW 12:06.2
GW 11:05

loveyouradvice · 27/04/2024 11:08

So many great weight losses - huge congrats!! We're going to make it to goal weight together - it's always those last few pounds that are toughest.

@Frankgodno I love the look of your weight tracker - which is it? I'd like to give it a go

everycowandagain · 27/04/2024 11:10

Me too, can I join? I am usually in the gym eating lots and lifting heavy but I picked up a (non gym related) injury so I am going to do a fat loss phase for a couple of months.

I am 144lbs, aiming for 135-132lbs. I am calorie counting with high protein and lots of steps. My trainer will set my calories but I expect I will start on around 1900. I weigh daily so I can see the progress over weeks including all the normal ups and downs.

I took some day 1 bikini progress photos today too because I know that, with less to lose, scale weight is only one marker of progress. My trainer will do measurements too.

Sounds like there has been some good progress so far!

PlateauArgh · 27/04/2024 11:12

9 stone 8.2!

@loveyouradvice I'm weighing myself every day because I'm impatient! I'm on around 12-1400 calories a day, which is pretty manageable, and about once a week just eat whatever I like for a day.

OP posts:
PrimroseYellow1 · 27/04/2024 11:32

@PlateauArgh 3lb loss in 6 days, that’s a great result.

PlateauArgh · 27/04/2024 11:34

@PrimroseYellow1 Yeah, it weirdly seems to go like that for me - nothing for about 3 weeks, then 2-3lb in a week. I don't know if it's hormonal or what. Do you tend to lose steadily?

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/04/2024 11:37

I had a really crappy few days but I feel a lot better today. I am doing a calorie counted low carb menu this week as provided by my AI buddy chat GPT. Started the day with a 10km hilly run and a protein shake. I slept better last night which has certainly helped and I guess I could consider the last few days as ‘carb loading’ as I smashed a few kms this morning, with some sprint intervals thrown in, my fastest km was 4.40/km (which is bloody fast for an old lady like me)

so- feeling better and brighter.

going shopping with my adult dd this afternoon, I need new bras and underwear and maybe treat myself to something nice.
I bought some target jeans, I had been wearing Eu 40, bought eu 38 and they fit (woohoo) so have now bought EU36. They do go on, but I can’t walk or breathe so not entirely practical. I go on holiday in 4 weeks, not sure if I’ll be in them by then, but I go to see the killers in 8 weeks and that feels a bit more doable. I’m going to hide my scales for a bit and think only of how awesome I will feel wearing those jeans! 🤞

PlateauArgh · 27/04/2024 11:39

@thenewaveragebear1983 Well done on the run!

They do go on, but I can’t walk or breathe so not entirely practical. Grin That's what my weight-loss-measuring trousers are like! They "fit" so long as I stand still, and definitely no sitting down or I'd be cut in half.

@StressyMessyJess About 5'3" and don't carry excess weight well!

What are you doing every day to get to 9.4? I'm stuck on 10 and can't find anything that works for me now!

PlateauArgh · 27/04/2024 11:43

@chocolaterevs I'm eating 12-1400 calories (upped protein and fat and reduced carbs, especially wheat - I only eat bread/pasta up to once a day, and have potatoes/sweet potatoes or something like that instead), and drink a lot of water. I walk quite a lot - I try to do 4-5 miles most days. It took AGES to get from just over to just under 10 stone. It really does feel like there are sticking points that you have to fight against.

That's really helpful, thanks. To be fair water has been an issue for me for a while + maybe it's just that simple. I know I lost well in the past drinking 3 litres. You're doing so well! Great thread Grin

Menora · 27/04/2024 12:35

I do eat carbs but not pasta it bloats me very badly. I limit them to particular sized portions per day/meal

I have a size 12 pair of skinny jeans I can get on and do up but they are so tight in the knee that I can’t wear them yet as I can’t bend my legs! I have a bikini for this summer but I don’t love the FUPA area in it quite yet

PrimroseYellow1 · 27/04/2024 13:28

@PlateauArgh no I don’t lose weight steadily, I tend to be strict for a month and then disappear for a fortnight regain a bit, then get back on it. There definitely are sticking points, I was 11st for a couple of months, just maintaining then I couldn’t get below 10st 7 lbs for another couple of months. I am throwing everything at it now, goal in sight and I am thrilled to see the fat reducing. Also this week is the first time anyone has said ‘you are looking good’, 2 people said it to me, but it’s taken a 2 stone loss for anyone to notice!

AhBiscuits · 27/04/2024 14:54

I was planning a 5k in the morning but the forecast says it will be pouring with rain. I'm far too fairweather for that, I'll need to do something else.

Frankgodno · 27/04/2024 15:26

@loveyouradvice its Happy Scale app 👍🏻

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/04/2024 17:02

I definitely have points where I have stalled, often for weeks, or where I bob around under and over a number for weeks. The recent one has been the drop down into the 10’s, I was dipping from 11.1 to 10.13 over and over. I weigh in pounds as well, so now I’m at another milestone, as I battle from the 150’s into the 140’s. It certainly feels like those milestone weights are harder to get, and stick at, but I’m sure it can’t actually be that.

I just went shopping with my dd and bought high waist jeans in H&M . They look lovely on as well. And bought new underwear and 3 new bras. Tomorrow I need to have a bit of a clear out of old stuff.

Greentomatoes21 · 27/04/2024 17:23

Hi! Would love to follow along. My stats are very similar to yours, OP.

Started 11 st 3
Current 9 st 7
Goal 9 st

I have gained a little up and down within the year but stats are as above. I had a few weeks off over easter and am now doing keto instead of low cal. It's hard but it does knock the weight off steadily. However it is very restrictive so only a short term thing.

It is unlikely that I will maintain 9 stone but I reallllllly want to get there!

Hoping to get this 7lb off by summer.

Hope everyone is getting on well!

AhBiscuits · 29/04/2024 10:37

I'm doing a 40 Days of Focus challenge with my friend. We've each chosen 5 things that we're going do every day for 40 days and check in with eachother. I'm doing

  1. Track food
  2. 5 fruit and veg
  3. 7000 steps
  4. 2L water
  5. No snacks

Hopefully this will help get this last bit off.

PlateauArgh · 29/04/2024 10:59

Still at 9 stone 8.8.

I was hoping to get to 9 stone 7 before the next plateau sets in, so fingers crossed for this week.

@PrimroseYellow1 Yes, I am only starting to notice a real difference in how my clothes fit now at over 1.5 stone from my highest weight. I'm not sure if it's noticeable to other people. People always say that if you're short then every pound makes a big difference, but I'm not convinced by that.

@AhBiscuits The water really does help. I read that the body uses water when getting rid of fat.

@Menora Yes I am also cutting down on pasta! I daren't try on my skinny jeans just yet.

Hope everyone is getting on well!

Thanks @Frankgodno - Im going to give it a go

And loving reading of new clothes/bras and tight jeans - so motivating!!

I definitely have to avoid carbs to lose weight - so the occasional small spoonful of lentils or rice but nowt more.... I do miss good bread!!!! And keep promising myself some when I get to my target... just 6lbs to go now, I need to hold strong.

Frankgodno · 29/04/2024 18:34

9 st 12.6 today
1200 kcals done ✅

need to stay disciplined !!

NahThen · 30/04/2024 07:59

I've had a little whoosh- I hope it sticks! 9st8 this morning. This is a "new low" for me and making my goal weight actually seem achievable.

Some people do seem more sensitive to carbs, for want of a better phrase. I've never made it to the other side of the "ravenous without carbs" stage when I've tried low carb, but fortunately they don't seem to impact me loss-wise. I do always weigh my portion and have noticed I don't need 75g pasta/rice- 50g is ample of I up the veg/protein portion.

VibeOnWithMyGalPals · 30/04/2024 08:10

9 stone 9lbs this morning.
I’d probably realistically be happy at 9.2 - 9.4.

I’m going to weigh myself again on Friday. How often do you all weigh?
