The last 10lb

PlateauArgh · 21/04/2024 10:49

Does anyone fancy joining a support thread for losing the final 10-14lb? I've lost over 20lb now, and since hitting the overweight/healthy weight borderline it's become so much harder! I've been gaining and losing the same 2lb for almost a fortnight. I'm doing calorie counting, eating healthier, drinking lots of water, and walking more.

SW: 11 stone 4
CW: 9 stone 10-11
GW: about 9 stone or slightly under

I have an event in early June and I'd really like to be comfortably around 9 stone 5 by then. I would also like to get back into my pre-Covid clothes!

How are you - or anyone else who uses it- finding collagen?

I’ve seen some collagen powder on Amazon that I was considering buying.

Well. I am sceptical of consuming it, don’t you just wee it out? I use a concentrated serum. I think I’ve seen a difference in my skin. £10 or so liquids from boots or the Inkey list

Gummibearos · 07/06/2024 15:54

Ah I see - you use the one you apply on skin! I’m going to Boots tomorrow. I’ll have a look.

braveandwellbehaved · 08/06/2024 11:51

@VibeOnWithMyGalPals that makes sense. Hope you get to somewhere that feels good and sustainable!

@AhBiscuits congrats on 3 stone that’s incredible!

@Menora ha I’m like that too- has to be a few days and maybe a day of ‘more food than usual’ (don’t wanna say cheat) before I’ll accept a new loss. 6 weeks sounds plenty of time to get somewhere you’d like. So annoying how the places we want fat to go first seems to take forever! I’ve got some loose skin from having my DDs around my belly button and I’ve been thinking about micro needling from home… may give it a go this summer

Hi everyone, weighed in at 9st 1 lb this morning. I remembered when I was in my 20s and me and my friend wanted to quickly lose 5 lbs quickly we used to eat cottage cheese. Haven’t eaten it in decades. I got a couple of pots and am eating it with lots of black pepper, only 58 kc per 100gr. It’s pretty good. It’s helped me drop this week.

braveandwellbehaved · 08/06/2024 16:17

Forgot to say, weighed in 9 st 12 ish this morning but I was dehydrated from drinking and barely ate yesterday so that may change

NahThen · 08/06/2024 21:16

@PrimroseYellow1 I love cottage cheese- great amount of protein for the cals and such a good base for flavour. Sometimes I add mint/cucumber to make a sort of raita, hot sauce is nice in it too, or try mashing hard boiled eggs into it. All tasty on a rice cake!
I keep seeing the tiktok trend of blending it with other stuff and baking to make a "wrap" but that's a bit beyond my effort levels- I'd rather just eat a wrap! Would be good for low carb though.

AhBiscuits · 09/06/2024 09:02

I love cottage cheese. I saw on social media people using it to make flatbread. Might give it a go. It's just cottage cheese and egg.

I've been for a run this morning but am spending the day at the cricket today and won't be able to resist a couple of drinks in the sun. I am taking a packed lunch though 😅

Cottage cheese flatbread

Try the viral cottage cheese flatbread recipe! Made with just two ingredients, it's a protein-packed option for your next meal.

Menora · 09/06/2024 09:09

I’m going to try make a wrap too

I put marmite in my cottage cheese

I’ve lost 1.5lbs this week by tracking so I only have 3kg to lose now (7/8lbs) to get to goal

braveandwellbehaved · 09/06/2024 17:55

Ooh I forgot about cottage cheese! I also love it- I tend to put lots of pepper and some salt in it, it’s delicious actually thanks for reminding me 😂

braveandwellbehaved · 09/06/2024 17:59

I’ve been a bit off the rails when it comes to food this weekend, just been letting it happen and just not letting myself have the ‘well now it’s a bad day I better binge’ mindset. Having a rough couple of days with anxiety. Early bed and a fresh new week tomorrow full of possibility. No plan other than attempt a calorie deficit and go for a couple walks and a wee workout.

AhBiscuits · 09/06/2024 18:53

Last time I measured my boobs, which was a few months ago, they were 34GG. Measured today and they are 32G. I've ordered a few new bras. This weight loss is going to bankrupt me but hopefully shouldn't change anymore as not losing loads more.

NahThen · 09/06/2024 20:06

Bad weekend for me too @braveandwellbehaved I haven't eaten a single vegetable or piece of fruit since Friday breakfast and I feel disgusting! Bloated, tired, thirsty and fed up- definitely not going to have helped my plateau situation other than by pushing me back up! I've fallen down the binge path tonight too. With you on the fresh start tomorrow 👍 going to take myself away from the kitchen and try to plan the rest of the week.
Great job @AhBiscuits you're close to your target now!

Menora · 10/06/2024 07:45

I’ve had a mad week, not sure what’s really going on hope nothing sinister but I have tracked totally honestly absolutely everything eaten and came in fairly low (on purpose) to see if I can just get this shifted as it felt a bit slow. I’ve lost 2lbs in one week which is unheard of for me. I had a weekend away in May which derailed me for a few weeks. I have been doing this for 14 months so I am kind of bored of it now and calculated I still need another 2-3 months to get to goal. I’m going on holiday in July. Been exercising a lot more.

Started off April 2023 15st 6lbs this morning I am 10st 13lbs. 7lbs till goal now

I am going to attempt to adjust some of my old size 14 clothes to fit me but I am not good at sewing. I will eventually replace things but I can’t afford to replace it all! I bought a belt to help me out with some of my dresses so I can still wear them and they don’t look like a tent

I don’t think I will go below 10st 7 as it’s really starting to affect my face now, it’s got slimmer and is at risk of looking a bit gaunt. You can’t choose where it comes off!

PrimroseYellow1 · 10/06/2024 08:14

@Menora well done, it’s lovely when the scales go down after a plateau. I think eventually our bodies sort of adjust to the new weight being the norm and then allows us to lose again. Unscientific but it’s been my experience.

Enjoying the cottage cheese love.

BarrelOfOtters · 11/06/2024 10:07

Just kind of checking in - had 2 weeks of people staying and events and generally being 'out out'. Lots of dodgy food offerings and beer, and the gym being shut.

Tried to keep on track with the eating lots of vegetables, some long walks, and leaving a couple of things early so I could just get a decent night's sleep.

So I've not lost anything but not gained anything either...result I think.

Lost a stone and a half since last August. Need to lose the weight to help with sky high blood pressure and cardiac issues.

Starting weight 13 st 8 lbs.
12 st 3lbs at moment.

Need to be 11 st 3 lbs to be in normal weight category for BMI and for the health issues.

henlake7 · 11/06/2024 14:32

Just realiesed Im on a month long plateau.🙁
I eat healthy, mostly unprocessed plant foods and exercise loads (and quite happy doing it all!). Its just I do like to eat alot and I cant bring myself to cut down my food even more!LOL

braveandwellbehaved · 11/06/2024 16:33

Weight still 9 st 12 - a plateau but understandable as I'm not eating well or moving much. Just feel exhausted mentally and physically, burnout I think from a seriously intense couple weeks.
Next 'event' is is last week of June (28th) - would love to be close to 9 st 10 by then. For now maintaining is enough, won't push it until I have more energy. I really hate feeling like this though. Early bed tonight.

@AhBiscuits ha that's serious progress though! Well done getting new bras as I feel they are essential - more so than underwear with no holes in ha!

@NahThen How are you doing today? I'm still feeling blah but I'm forcing myself to go for a 30 minute jog this eve and see how I feel after that. I know the binge slope well and hate it so much, it's def an emotional thing for me. Hope fresh start going ok, takes a while to get out of that place sometimes.

@Menora Wow congrats on your overall and recent loss. In the 10s now woop! I understand that feeling of getting bored of it. All the thought that goes into it etc.. it has to be worth it to feel good and sometimes the motivation just drops off a bit. My face is very round and chubby so I always wish it would come off there - grass is very much always greener.

@henlake7 sounds like your lifestyle is really healthy and doesn't need to be changed and especially if you're happy!!! Would you consider readjusting your target? Reason I say so is mine used to be 9st and now it's 9 st 6 because I like living HA!

Menora · 11/06/2024 18:27

Haha I gained half a kg back immediately 😂 so back in the 11’s 😂😂😂

@henlake7 don’t despair, this happens a lot at this stage. You could make some little swaps in your food for something filling but less calories? I tend to leave out carbs a bit more when I am trying to get out of a plateau

NahThen · 12/06/2024 11:56

@BarrelOfOtters I know that burnout feeling all too well! Hope the jog helps- sometimes exercise makes me feel 10x better and others I should have rested. Navigating a long term condition with chronic fatigue is a minefield at times, I'm still learning when to push and when to rest!

I seem to have disgusted myself out of my binge for now- a healthy food shop yesterday certainly helped a lot. I haven't weighed in yet, will save for friday. I imagine/hope(?) it's a maintain!

Still struggling a bit with thinking about food all the damn time. I keep reading about these injections- I absolutely wouldn't go down that route and don't need to- but a theme that keeps cropping up is that it shuts off all the "food noise" and that would be so lovely.

AhBiscuits · 14/06/2024 06:45

Another 1.2lbs off this week.

SW: 13st 7.8
CW: 10st 6.6
GW: 10st 5
Lost: 43.2lbs
To go: 1.6lbs

My BMI is exactly 25 today so only need to lose a teeny bit more to get under and into the green zone. I'm going to a beer festival on Saturday though then a Fathers Day lunch on Sunday. I'll try not to go mad but will be having to claw back.

Menora · 14/06/2024 07:37

I’m gonna dip out of this forum now, I’ve had enough of angst to be honest. Good luck all. I hope you get to your goals @AhBiscuits and everyone else x

AhBiscuits · 14/06/2024 08:55

Good luck with your continued loss @Menora
You've been a source of useful information and insights for many people. Don't let the bastards bring you down.

PlateauArgh · 14/06/2024 09:25

I am still here! Just been off the wagon as I went to visit a friend and had a busy time at work.

Somehow still at 9 stone 8.4, so new target is to be at 9 stone 6 by the start of July.

Looks like everyone is making great progress!

Happierwithouthim · 14/06/2024 11:34

I'm lurking here because I've still got more than 10lbs left to lose but I hope to be in that category after 6 more lbs Grin

braveandwellbehaved · 14/06/2024 20:37

@Happierwithouthim join now, 10 lbs is kind of arbitrary tbh - I had 13 lbs to lose :) Still working on the last 5 :)

@Menora good luck with everything, hope you're alright!
