The last 10lb

PlateauArgh · 21/04/2024 10:49

Does anyone fancy joining a support thread for losing the final 10-14lb? I've lost over 20lb now, and since hitting the overweight/healthy weight borderline it's become so much harder! I've been gaining and losing the same 2lb for almost a fortnight. I'm doing calorie counting, eating healthier, drinking lots of water, and walking more.

SW: 11 stone 4
CW: 9 stone 10-11
GW: about 9 stone or slightly under

I have an event in early June and I'd really like to be comfortably around 9 stone 5 by then. I would also like to get back into my pre-Covid clothes!

@VibeOnWithMyGalPals I weigh daily, it’s just part of my routine, it doesn’t ruin my day if there is a gain but usually focuses me to have a strict day.

NahThen · 30/04/2024 10:15

@VibeOnWithMyGalPals probably twice a week in average but I don't always take note of it. Tuesdays/Fridays in general because I'll often skip a weigh in if I know I'm bloated/hormonal/a chocolate monster 🤣

Frankgodno · 30/04/2024 10:47

Well done @NahThen hope it sticks for you too! Love a whoosh haha!!

@VibeOnWithMyGalPals I weigh daily too. But only since I started using the Happy Scale app as it shows you moving average. So even if I have gained I can see overall how well its going.

9 st 11.2 today.
Trying to find motivation for a workout of some kind. I have an exam coming up soon so all my evenings once kids are in bed are spent studying and it is wiping me out!

PrimroseYellow1 · 01/05/2024 10:26

Stuck on 9st 6lbs. Had wine after dinner which led to eating rye bread at 10 pm.

How is everyone doing? Suddenly it’s May, feels like that happened fast!

PlateauArgh · 01/05/2024 10:43

I'm also stuck, at 9 stone 8-9! Just going between them each day. I'm still determined to try to get to 9 stone 7 by the end of the week. It really does feel like the milestones are harder even though that doesn't really make sense.

OP posts:
Alwaystired94 · 01/05/2024 11:36

i've managed to lose 78lbs in the last 14 months but these last 10 are killing me! i think in the last 3 months i've maybe lost 5/6lbs total (with fluctuations standard). i wish this last bit wasn't the slowest!

Alwaystired94 · 01/05/2024 11:38

SW: 15st 13lbs
CW: 10st 6lbs
GW: 9st 8lbs

forgot to add that!

Menora · 01/05/2024 11:49

I weigh daily and track it for interest purposes on a spreadsheet.

It gets really hard at this point.

It was easier to lose 50lbs than it has the last 9lbs and I still have the last 10lbs to go!

PlateauArgh · 02/05/2024 09:07

STILL 9 stone 8! Is it going to be a plateau every 1 or 2lb now?

@Menora @Alwaystired94 I wonder why this happens. The first half stone came off so quickly! It's like a fight for every ounce now.

OP posts:
Alwaystired94 · 02/05/2024 09:20

@PlateauArgh guess its the more you have 'excess' the easier it comes off. i've adjusted my TDEE now and its now 1611 so for a 500 calorie deficit its 1111 a day!

PlateauArgh · 02/05/2024 09:26

Oh yeah, good point, my TDEE is about 1500 calories so I have to have a lower deficit! I guess that's why it feels so slow.

OP posts:
Menora · 02/05/2024 13:17

@PlateauArgh yes my deficit was probably a lot larger than it is now. I think my deficit back then was 800 calories sometimes now I am lucky to get a 300 deficit because I really don’t want to get hungry or dizzy by going too low. Exercise doesn’t help as it makes me more hungry but the type of exercise I do doesn’t create a big deficit (weights) so I can’t rely on this and don’t eat back those calories. It’s just very slow but it’s not impossible. I’ve lost about 400g most weeks since 1st January this year I have tracked on a spreadsheet but had a few weeks with no loss at all or just 100g. I will get there in the end but I made a spreadsheet and worked out it will take me 210 days to go from 80kg to 67kg at this small weekly loss of less than 1lb a week. I have made this into a science project to keep me motivated 😂

VibeOnWithMyGalPals · 03/05/2024 07:41

Wow, you’ve all lost so much weight from your starting point.

9st 7 this morning. Fridays are always my lowest weight because I’ve been on track all week. Weekends are harder but I’m determined to stick to it.

7lbs to goal

AhBiscuits · 03/05/2024 08:30

1.2lbs off this week.

SW: 13st 7.8
CW: 10st 12.6
GW: 10st 6
Lost: 37.2lbs
To go: 6.6lbs

Progress is pretty slow but I'm quite chill about it now because I feel pretty comfortable with how I look (even though there's definitely still a fair amount of belly fat to go!)

PlateauArgh · 06/05/2024 10:01

Sorry, haven't posted for a few days as I have completely fallen off the wagon. New week, new start! Still 9 stone 9.

OP posts:
Mynewnameis · 06/05/2024 10:10

I had a bad day yesterday. Lots of booze. I managed to run and walk loads so hopefully not too much damage. I eat and drink 2700 calories but burnt almost that. Must not give up!

Menora · 06/05/2024 10:36

I am stable in weight but dropping in inches waist/thighs so I am also pretty ok with how I am right now. 10lbs left to go still 😂

SW: 15st 6
CW: 11st 4
GW: 10st 7

I think I will be under 72kg by tomorrow but I am going on a trip next week so need to work out what I am going to eat

braveandwellbehaved · 06/05/2024 10:48

Hey all! I know it’s a bit late but could I join in? I also have an event start of June and would like to be in the 9 stone bracket! if anyone wants to share discuss what they’re doing would love to hear as struggling with last 10 pounds soooo much! I’ve lost over 40 and just plateauing at 10st 5-9ish! I’ve cut out processed sugary treats and alcohol in the weekdays but I find I’m struggling to do it all the time. I’ve vegan so having protein can be tricky when I’m out and about but I’ve invested in some good quality powder and some protein balls and other treats- and have been having smoothies! Just downloaded MFP as really need a hand with this.

SW- 13 st 5
CW- 10 st 6
GW for June - 9 st something !
UGW - 9 st 6

PlateauArgh · 06/05/2024 11:08

@Mynewnameis One day should hopefully not make a difference, especially if you were moving a lot! This is what I tell myself anyway.

@Menora Good news on the shrinkage. I have lost 3cm on my waist and 2cm on my hips since I last measured earlier in the year, so am trying to focus on that instead of the stubborn refusal to get to 9 and a half stone. It is so hard on a trip! Especially when you're in the swing of things and have a food routine established.

@braveandwellbehaved Welcome! I also have an event at the start of June and would like to be under 9 stone 5 by then, which seemed easy 2 weeks ago but not so much anymore. I've basically just been eating more protein and fat and less sugar, and I don't eat breakfast. And lots of water.

PrimroseYellow1 · 06/05/2024 12:21

I fell off the wagon too and am back up to 9st 10lbs. Going to try and have a strict week.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/05/2024 13:07

I need a strict week too! This is the optimum week in my cycle for a weight loss as well so I need to maximise the impact by being very careful, keeping up with my exercise and sticking to my calories. I am enjoying my protein shakes for breakfast and it helps to streamline my food a bit by having the same thing every day. Lunches this week will be salads with chicken or hard boiled eggs, and it’s a variety of protein + veg options for dinners. I want my loss this week!

PlateauArgh · 06/05/2024 17:23

Stuck to my plans today - around 1200 calories to kick-start getting back into good habits.

Lunch: cheese sandwich on wholemeal bread
Snacks: kiwi fruit and dates
Dinner: prawn cocktail with lettuce, avocado and cherry tomatoes
Drinks: coffee with milk and sugar, water

I'm going to try to stick to not eating crisps/chocolate for a week and see if I can make a difference to the new 9 stone 8-9 sticking point. It's so hard to stay committed when you have to battle for every tiny loss!

@thenewaveragebear1983 I also like to have the same things! Makes it a lot easier.

Hi I’d like to join if that’s ok? I’ve gone from an obese to healthy bmi over the last year, firstly by dieting then wegovy. I’m just wondering if any of you have a Withing’s or similar fat scanner type scale. Despite weight training throughout the time on wegovy I was a bit disappointed to see my muscle to fat ratio is only on the very outer edges of ok. Goodness knows what it was this time last year! I can feel I have defined muscles in my arms, legs, shoulders and abdomen but the Withings scale says I have 64% muscle and 32.6% fat. I thought I was ok with my current weight but now think I need to go a bit further. Just wondered if anyone else is in the same position? For context I’m 54.

braveandwellbehaved · 07/05/2024 07:00

weigh in: 10 st 5

How often do you guys weigh? I find weighing more often helps me deal better with fluctuations as if I wait all week to weigh and it’s not budged it really bugs me. I moved to a more rural area last month and I feel like I drive more and walk so much less so the weight feels so much harder to budge these days. I go the gym twice a week, wish I could go more but I’ve got little kids :/

yesterdsy I ate:

bowl of porridge with peanut butter
ham and salad sandwich
piece of toast
Small bowl noodle soup
protein smoothie post gym
2x milky coffees throughout day

AhBiscuits · 07/05/2024 07:12

I tend to hop on the scales most days but only record the result on a Friday morning.

Ate a bit too much over the bank holiday weekend but did go for a run and do a few hours of gardening. My weight is the same as Friday.
