The last 10lb

Does anyone fancy joining a support thread for losing the final 10-14lb? I've lost over 20lb now, and since hitting the overweight/healthy weight borderline it's become so much harder! I've been gaining and losing the same 2lb for almost a fortnight. I'm doing calorie counting, eating healthier, drinking lots of water, and walking more.

SW: 11 stone 4
CW: 9 stone 10-11
GW: about 9 stone or slightly under

I have an event in early June and I'd really like to be comfortably around 9 stone 5 by then. I would also like to get back into my pre-Covid clothes!

9 stone 7.2! My plan of getting to 9 stone 5 by early June is back on. I have stuck to my meal plans with an iron will this week. @PrimroseYellow1 How is your strict week going?

@braveandwellbehaved I weigh every day, for the same reason! I need to see the fluctuations or I'd get totally disheartened during the plateaus.

@Tindrum Welcome! I dread to think what my % body fat is. I think if you lose a good amount of weight you will lose muscle mass even with training, so hopefully soon things will start to change for you!

Well done @PlateauArgh ! It’s going well here too. I was 9st 10lbs on Monday and am back to 9st 7 lbs today. We are neck and neck! I’ve no idea about my body fat either, never had the courage to find out. I do track my waist measurement though.

NahThen · 09/05/2024 13:07

Great job @PlateauArgh and @PrimroseYellow1 game on for June!

My whoosh seems to have stuck but I haven't tracked cals for the last few days. I've been trying to empty my freezer so I can defrost it so had a lot of portions of homemade things that are hard to track at the best of times! Trying not to overdo it and focusing on whole foods.

I did have a bit of a realisation that the number on the scale isn't really making any difference to my state of mind/perception of my body. I thought I'd lose the weight and feel great, but I don't, and a couple of extra lbs isn't going to help that either. But that's probably for another thread!

My scales reckon my body fat is 23.1% at 9st8, down from about 26% when I was closer to 10st 7 or so. No idea how accurate it is though!

Tindrum · 09/05/2024 16:49

Thanks ladies, work to be done on my fat % then @NahThen ! I kinda knew that deep down though. Still feeling good that at 54 I know weigh the same as I did in my 30's - that perimenopause/lockdown combo was brutal. I've started to enjoy a tipple or two again, especially now it's more😎so maybe I need to temper that and lift heavier weights! Totally agree that I'm less destroyed when the scales go up and down - just so grateful that the sun is shining and I'm feeling healthier.

PrimroseYellow1 · 09/05/2024 17:17

@Tindrum well done in being the same weight as in your 30s. I am a bit older than you and like you say the combination of menopause and lockdown was brutal, I went from a slim sometimes skinny to a tummy measuring 42 inches. The bread maker and salted butter discovery was a mistake. So much easier to have a nice summer without rolls of fat.

Tindrum · 09/05/2024 19:58

That is so funny @PrimroseYellow1 ! My husband (who is not a frequent flyer in the kitchen) did as others do and took up making sourdough and cocktails to pass the time. Then my teenager started baking! Arghhh!!!!

braveandwellbehaved · 09/05/2024 20:55

Well done for your losses! Really motivating! I weight in the same today but after a bunch of food and water etc. will weigh tomorrow morning. I’m exhausted, my little ones have been really unwell with some sort of sickness bug and it’s been exhausting. I must admit I’ve been supplementing my low energy with chocolate. Determined to get back on it tomorrow! Want to be 10st 3 by Monday- can I do it?????

VibeOnWithMyGalPals · 10/05/2024 08:06

9st 5 this morning.
I’ve had to cut out wine to really see the numbers doing down.
I think I was actually 10st 6 at my heaviest last summer (I’m very short) so it’s lovely to wear nicer clothes this summer and feel loose in others.

Hope your little ones are better now @braveandwellbehaved

5 pounds to go, but I’d be happy at 9’2. 9 was very hard to maintain before.

PlateauArgh · 10/05/2024 09:21

Anyone else feeling grateful for the progress you've already made now that it's warmed up a bit? I'm feeling a lot less self-conscious about getting my summer clothes out compared to last year.

AhBiscuits · 10/05/2024 09:27

1.2lbs off this week. 5.6lbs to my goal.

I'm grateful that I'm slim for the summer ☀️
Although I put on a nice dress this morning and my DD said I look like Alice in Wonderland and asked if we're having a dress up day at work.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/05/2024 10:36

@PlateauArgh I just find that I don’t ‘see’ my weight loss, I look in the mirror and think I look exactly the same, it’s only when I try clothes on that I realise. And even then, I find it hard to really appreciate the changes. I did some before and after photos a while back and the change is really obvious, but in real life I just don’t see it.

PrimroseYellow1 · 10/05/2024 11:04

@PlateauArgh very grateful, last summer and the previous 4 were awful. August was a real low. We went on a holiday to Asia, once in a lifetime etc. I didn’t lose an ounce for it, despite huge efforts, just went up and down the scales. I was always the fattest woman in the dining room. I had 3 tents I wore in rotation. DH has a family photo as his screensaver. I did the use the teenagers to block your figure move but still am taking up a lot of his screen. I weigh 2 stones less now, a lot on my frame. I can just grab a linen t shirt and cotton cargos in the morning and feel normal.

PrimroseYellow1 · 10/05/2024 11:06

@AhBiscuits Alice in Wonderland, what a sweet compliment!

Alwaystired94 · 10/05/2024 19:16

after losing and gaining back the same 4lbs all year i’ve finally got past it!

CW 144.5lbs!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/05/2024 20:24

@Alwaystired94 well done! I still can’t get past my plateau weight, I’ve been bobbing around here for months!

Alwaystired94 · 10/05/2024 20:40

@Alwaystired94 well done! I still can’t get past my plateau weight, I’ve been bobbing around here for months!

well it’s taken me 5 months almost so fingers crossed it’s asap for you!

braveandwellbehaved · 11/05/2024 09:19

10 st 4 today yippee! Gonna focus very hard for Monday 10 st 3 come onnnn

@PlateauArgh yes! Tried on some summer clothes dreading it and actually felt pretty! So life changing!

@AhBiscuits nothing like your kid to knock you down a peg haha my daughter told me I look like the hulk after I got my eyebrows tinted the other week. Tbf she wasn’t too far off the truth haha!

@PrimroseYellow1 oh I really felt for you when you were talking about your trip to Asia. Such a horrible feeling especially as your ‘supposed’ to be happy and enjoying as it’s such an incredible opportunity with your family. Photos are e worst so confronting and I do think lighting and positioning is everything and I don’t know the hacks (apart from the hiding behind my girls thing ha!)

@Alwaystired94 congrats so pleased for you!!

Definitely. Woke up early so did some trying on. Scales not moving much but big difference in terms of fit (exercise a lot). A few pounds off fitting in my shorts which I never thought I'd achieve for this summer. I think that's why I've always given up before as it felt too difficult.

PlateauArgh · 12/05/2024 09:41

Staying steady at 9 stone 7, which is fine - hoping to see 9 stone 6 at some point next week. The hot weather has helped as I have a much lower appetite.

@braveandwellbehaved Well done! Fingers crossed for 10 stone 3.

@Alwaystired94 Congrats! Such a good feeling.

@thenewaveragebear1983 I know what you mean - just as I didn't realise how overweight I looked until I saw an awful photo, I didn't realise that I'd got smaller until I tried on a skirt that made me really physically and mentally uncomfortable last summer and found that it's now slightly too big.

@AhBiscuits Until I read @braveandwellbehaved 's comment I thought you had said DH and was like "How rude!" As it was from DD I agree with @PrimroseYellow1 that you should take it as a compliment!

@Mynewnameis Well done! And getting fitter is even better than just losing weight. Must start exercising properly.

Morning!

I have a pair of eu36 jeans that are my target jeans, I tried them on yesterday and they do zip up but I can’t exactly wear them (they are the sort of jeans I’d have squeezed into as a teenager to go clubbing in because I wouldn’t have to sit down in them 🤣) but 2 weeks ago they didn’t even do up so I was chuffed with that, and my weight hasn’t budged at all. I think it really is the only way to properly recognise the changes in your shape.

we went out last night, and impromptu “few drinks” which turned into 6pints of cider and a pub dinner - oops. I weighed in about 4lbs up this morning and I had a terrible nights sleep, woke at 3, couldn’t get back to sleep…. Horrible. I did drag my sorry Backside out for a run and did 6.5k and then did day 21 of Caroline Girvan and feel much better for doing both.

had my protein shake, and it’s salad for lunch, steak for dinner.. I love summer food, especially salads. I’m going to do an hour of housework and then chill for the afternoon to catch the last of the sunny weather and it’s going to break here from tomorrow 😢

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/05/2024 10:27

Oh and I also noticed a non scale “victory” last night- I must have lost some “padding” on my bum because sitting in those pub benches was so uncomfortable, I had to sit on my sons jumper in the end because I could feel the hard seat on my bones 🤣 not quite a victory in the traditional sense, but I suppose something we have to get used to in our new slimmer bodies!

braveandwellbehaved · 13/05/2024 07:33

hi everyone!

i really enjoyed reading about all your non scale victories as I feel so much like the scale is not yet reflecting the changes in my body right now (no 10 st 3 despite good food day yesterday, though did have wine) should start measuring really, I haven’t actually got a tape measure so would need to go out and get one. But clothes fitting better and in just FEELING better. I have been weight lifting instead of cardio which is what I used to do. I think in huge thing is general inactivity which is due to office life.

this week I’m turning the turbo on to get to 10 st 2, come onnnn

Menora · 13/05/2024 11:34

I went away for a week and gained some back so I’m a few weeks behind schedule now, I had planned to be at goal by end of July but not sure now. It’s not crazy it’s about a kg total. I was very active but the food situation was not very consistent

Tindrum · 13/05/2024 11:43

It might be water weight @Menorahopefully it’ll whoosh away now you’re back.
