Is anyone up for a gentle weight loss thread?

As the above title says.

I'm sure some of you recognise my username cause I used to head up some monthly threads. Anyway, to cut a long story short I'm on Tamoxifen following having breast cancer and my weight is going up. Its my own fault, I eat too much when I'm in the wrong mood, obsessed with snacks and sweet stuff blah blah blah. The only way I can normally lose weight is by just cutting down a bit, cause as soon as I tell myself I'm on a diet, I just panic about being hungry and want junk. I'm aiming to lose 8 pounds by the Summer.

My plan is to increase my steps and carry on doing my Get Fit with Rick workouts and to eat more mindfully, aiming to eat less overall but definitely less junk. Would love some company, cause this approach really helped me when I lost some weight in 2020.

I'm soooooooo slow at losing weight now I'm in my 50s and Peri so gentle (ie slow) is the only way I'm losing! Am counting kcals. Not very well at the moment so it's hard.

I had planned to try and sort myself out starting tomorrow, so I'm in if that is ok.

Yes please! I'd like to lose a stone before the end of 2024, but like you OP as soon as I start anything too restrictive my body & brain go into rebellion mode, I find myself starving all the time and craving the worst stuff.

I'll join!

I've posted on a thread today about not looking after my self right now. Too much over eating, no exercise and will far too easily reach for the crisps and sweet treats!

I've had a chat with the family today so they can help kick my arse in gear! 😁 and the husband has helped me clear the junk that was stored on top of the treadmill so will be re-starting the couch to 5k in the morning!

@JamieNotJames I read your thread earlier.

I’d like to join too. I’m also 14 months post treatment for breast cancer (although I’m not on tamoxifen) and I’m 2 stone heavier than I was prior to treatment…and I wasn’t skinny then! I have a few big events this year that I’d like to look my best for. Would love to join this thread for ideas and companionship 😊

I'm in too!

I've been eating poorly and it doesn't make my body feel good. I haven't really got a handle on my eating since before Christmas.

I'll weigh tomorrow to get a starting point. I like the idea of a gentle thread 🙂

Yes please. I've got half a stone to lose but in full peri and even with hrt I'm really struggling to keep my weight stable. I just can't stop eating!

I can't diet as I just end up eating less and less over a period of a fortnight before blowing it all spectacularly.

Small and simple is the way forward. I definitely need to move more but I hate exercise so I need to aim to increase my walking.

I'd love some accountability buddies!

Meant to say - sorry about your diagnosis @Octopus45. I hope you're doing ok.

You can count me in too! I'm 43, 5'5 & weighed in at 10st5lbs this morning.
I'd like to lose 10lbs & get back to what used to be my "happy" weight... but in all honesty I wasn't even happy with myself at that weight either!! 😕 Are we every ever!!
I know what I need to do, but actually putting that plan into action is another thing entirely.
Starting tomorrow I am back on the exercise & calorie counting train. Aiming for 1500cals per day & more importantly limiting my wine consumption... which, as my username would suggest, is my biggest downfall! 🙈

I'm in as well, if that's OK.

Post breast cancer as well, on hormone treatment now. My surgeon did warn me that one of the side effects of the hormone treatment (I still can't remember the name) was weight gain - along with bad temper and I definitely have both of them. I call the pills my bitch pills, easier to remember!

I'm trying to lose weight, have lost a few pounds but it's very very slow, and sometimes I say 'sod it ' have that chocolate, drink that glass of wine, knowing that when i get on the scales the next morning, ill be lucky if i haven't gained anything. Have had both tonight!

I have about 6 ISH to lose.

@NeverForgiveMyself for full disclosure I'm also currently drinking a glass of wine.

Sending lots of love & strength to all you ladies who have battled cancer

I'm in too. I would be delighted to loose 1lb a week. My plan is to move three times a week, but more importantly no midweek wine and try to not binge too much at weekends.
I am currently having a glass of red wine. Need it gone before tomorrow!

I'm in - if that's ok?

Although I can't weigh myself, well I could but I get fixated so I'm going down the clothes fit better route.

I'm 50, later this year and I've recently started Sertraline and evorel patches and my jeans are getting snugger!

My aim is to make them less snug and get rid of my wibbly wobbly jelly belly.

Can I hop on?

41, peri confirmed, a stone to lose made up of Covid eating and third baby weight. Worked out I need to eat no more than about 1100 kcal per day to lose, 1200 to maintain. Which is nothing.

I'll join, I've lost 5lb since new year. Just slowly changing my diet and increasing my exercise but not going mad

Can I join please?
I only have half a stone I want to lose to be comfortable. I had to have Prostap injections last year (medical menopause) to help ease my endometriosis symptoms. I'm struggling to lose the stone I gained on it. However, I'm also trying to be kind to myself as my symptoms have returned but still waiting for a period (3 months since it wore off!).

I eat well, but need to stop the junky snacks and reduce portion sizes. I signed up to Nutracheck last night.

Good luck everyone! 🙂

Right, I'm 66.3kg this morning.

I'd like to lose a couple of kg to get back down to 64kg.

If I can get there by easter, that'll be great but I've got no set timescale.

I definitely want to take a gentle approach, being kind and caring to myself rather than restricting.

First step done! 😁
I got on the treadmill at 5:45 this morning for week 1 day 1 of the couch to 5k. 💪

Ive also packed my own lunch, which is reasonably healthy (little steps) instead of buying in my break.

I did get a bit of a shock getting on the scales this morning though so that’s a little bit of motivation.
