Is anyone up for a gentle weight loss thread?

As the above title says.

I'm sure some of you recognise my username cause I used to head up some monthly threads. Anyway, to cut a long story short I'm on Tamoxifen following having breast cancer and my weight is going up. Its my own fault, I eat too much when I'm in the wrong mood, obsessed with snacks and sweet stuff blah blah blah. The only way I can normally lose weight is by just cutting down a bit, cause as soon as I tell myself I'm on a diet, I just panic about being hungry and want junk. I'm aiming to lose 8 pounds by the Summer.

My plan is to increase my steps and carry on doing my Get Fit with Rick workouts and to eat more mindfully, aiming to eat less overall but definitely less junk. Would love some company, cause this approach really helped me when I lost some weight in 2020.

Hi, hope everyone is having a good week. To be honest don't think I'm in the right frame of mind for this at the moment, bad I know when I'm the one that started the thread. Had a lazy day yesterday and ending up eating a lot, not binging exactly but lots of snacks and a chippy tea. I dont know why I struggle with will power/comfort eating so much, well I do cause I have since my teens tbh. My instinct is to beat myself up, but know it wont help so just trying to eat normally today. Struggle with my mood and energy levels a lot these days. Weighed 9st5.5 this morning. New day today.

@Octopus45 some normal eating wont hurt you, just don't let yesterday play on your mind. Today is a new day. It's very difficult to 'behave' when you aren't feeling 100% and let's face it, food is a pleasure and makes most of us feel better, albeit temporarily!

@Octopus45 I so resonate with that, you get so into thinking you have to do it perfect or as close to, that a hungry day or less than perfect day can give such a feeling of failure. I've been trying hard to be nicer to myself about it, saying it's just a different meal, it's not bad it's just different. I have teens too and I have to remind myself I must be seen not to demonise food (cause they're like hawks!) and if I make out I can't have it what's to say they won't pick up on my diet obsession. I don't think I fully succeeded☹️
Anyway long story long, it's ok to indulge, you're doing great, no calories burned in beating yourself up!

@Octopus45 you started this thread to be gentle with yourself. Here's a reminder that eating more for one or two days won't derail your progress. Just like eating minimally for a couple of days won't instantly result in you dropping pounds.

We all understand how hard it can be to keep this in mind. You've got the extra demand of health stuff going on. So that makes it even harder.

Happier this morning as I got on the scales and my pesky TOTM gain was gone plus another pound. It's definitely a gentle weight loss here. Slowly, slowly...

This week has been going decent for me, managing to keep cals low'ish and the scales was dropping nicely. Had to weight in on a different scales this morning and it looked like not much difference, but I might discount that as I'm pretty sure my own scales is accurate (tested with a known weight) Or I put on 3 pound overnight, I know carbs can bloat you but one slice of bread ain't that powerful!
I had managed to get a handle on weekend madness but totm & caring duties might derail me, I'll just try my best.

This week has been a good one for me food wise.

It's a family birthday today so I've enjoyed cake and a chip shop dinner 😋. Keeping the mindset that one indulgent meal won't set me back.

Another one who enjoyed their Friday here. Scales still up a bit, but I expect that's due to a carby couple of days. It'll drop back down in the next few days hopefully. It's so dull & dreary here, should go for a walk but tired after the week. Going to relax, sod it

Great work on the belt purple, very encouraging.
I went to town this weekend. Got up early for a good hours walk before work. I think I'd best avoid the scales until I'm back on normal food for a day or two. Heading away from Friday for 5 nights, be good if I could keep it light'ish for the next 4. Although not so light I eat like someone released from jail come Friday! At least it's going to be a pretty active few days, going to a city that's lovely to walk around. Fingers crossed for a little bit of sun, I'm craving it. Here's to a good week everyone

I've eaten way too much today. A combination of lunch out, a Mother's Day cake my children made and chocolates lying about 😬

However, I'm drawing a line under this and moving on. Tomorrow is a new day and I don't need to beat myself up about overindulging!

Forgot to post my measurements for Monday's measuring!

Another inch off hips & waist, static on belly and half an inch on my thigh. I have a handy freckle which I use as a thigh marker Grin

16:8 is clearly suiting me, adding in fuck it Friday so onwards and offwards as they say.
