2 Stones Off By Easter- a thread for those with lots to lose in 2024.

RedDoughnut · 30/12/2023 20:42

The 2 Stones off by Christmas thread was pretty successful.
Hopefully this one will be just as useful.
The idea is that losing 2 stones is just the start. If you have a lot to lose then it can seem daunting so... small targets.

That said, to get 2 stones off by Easter then we need to lose a bit over
2 lbs per week so a bit of dedication is needed.
Start Date- January 1st but join when you can.

Weigh In Day - usually Monday but it's up to you.

For those that are coming from the original thread I think for the new thread we need to add an extra element. Self care! Anything you can add to help you feel a bit better. Skin care? Body Lotion? Flossing your teeth?
Just a little something in addition to watching what you eat.

I think my scales are broken. Just weighed myself after a week of eating what I want on holiday, culminating in a big (delicious) Indian takeaway at 9pm last night... and I've only put on 0.6kg?! This cannot be right.

Anyway, official weigh day is Tuesday so we'll see what that brings...

RedDoughnut · 25/02/2024 18:56

I cant seem to get back to the right frame of mind.
I'm going to head back to where I was in the summer of I don't find my willpower again.

5 weeks to go. I could lose a stone in that time as I'm bound to lose more in the first week.

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 25/02/2024 21:04

yes you could @RedDoughnut
but i understand when the oomph isn't there it is difficult to drum up the energy and focus.
what is your go to method for weight loss?

Hank86 · 26/02/2024 07:34

Missed last weeks weigh in as I was feeling bloated and didn't want to demotivate myself. 3lb down on the scales today from my last weigh in on 12th feb. Keto ongoing...
SW- 12st
CW - 10st10lb
GW by Easter - 10st

chalkyc2 · 26/02/2024 07:56

Monday check in. Plugging away - the first week back after a holiday where you've relaxed a little is always hard! Shows how easy it is to get into bad habits...😳

Anyway
01/01 - 12 st/76.2kg
26/02 - 10st 10/68.1kg

I've reached a couple of 'milestones' this week and awaiting the next ones this week! I hit 50kg down since last April and I'm oh so nearly 8stone down and into normal BMI. My tip is to measure in pounds/kilos and stones and BMI - something comes up most weeks. My reward is shopping - a scarf or top say and sometimes trainers for the big ones!!

Let's. Keep. Going...

chalkyc2 · 26/02/2024 07:58

@Hank86 - We're tracking along exactly together! I think I'll struggle to get these last 10lbs off for Easter but going to try!

2024fit · 26/02/2024 07:58

Still hovering around the 70-72kg range where I’ve been for several months 😅 I tend to be closer to 70Kg most times now though. Nothing lost on my waist unfortunately.

I have a little city break booked for end of next month. Trying to motivate myself to avoid refined sugar before then.

My diet had been decent recently minus the slight binge I do the day my weekly food shop arrives. For example on Friday when my shopping was delivered, I ate the entire 6pack of Mcvities gingerbread men (88 calories per bag) Every time I buy them I have great hopes of being able to have one a day to last me most of the week 😅I think I’ll just have to not buy things like that at all. I’ll see if that makes a difference by end of March.

recklessgran · 26/02/2024 08:00

Morning all this weigh day Monday
Start weight 15st 1lb
Today 14 st 5lbs
That's a pound off for me this week. My long slow struggle continues!
Tomorrow we are off to Gran Canaria for a week AI. I think with the best will in the world a gain is inevitable for me even sticking to low carb. That's because I will be having 3 meals a day with DH instead of my usual two small meals. I think I'll be more active than usual with lots of walking and swimming but doubt it will be enough to counteract the extra food - not to mention the alcohol! I'm not a drinker but on holiday I like a glass of red with dinner and will definitely be having that alongside JD and coke zero in the evenings. Past experience tells me to expect a 4lb gain so if I manage to stay under that I'll be happy and hope to drop it off quickly in the following two weeks. So, a bit of a setback in a way but we've been having a bit of a shit time lately with a few family things so are looking forward to the break and will make the most of it. KOKO everyone,

Hank86 · 26/02/2024 08:19

@chalkyc2 so we are!!! I agree, can't see me losing the last 10lb by Easter either! but hoping I'll have the motivation to continue afterwards...
Well done to everyone who is still going!

Apprenante · 26/02/2024 08:57

Enjoy your holiday @recklessgran ! A gain is inevitable but it will be worth it.

Starting weight 6/1/24 14st 6.5lbs
Current weight 13st 2lbs
This week 1.8lbs loss

@2024fit I've given up believing that I can have things in the house and not eat them. I find it's easier not to order the biscuits in the first place. I have very little will power.

ToddlerMumma · 26/02/2024 09:21

Morning all! Slow but steady progress for me

Starting weight - 14st 4lbs
Current weight - 13st 9lbs
Loss this week - 1lb
Total loss - 9lbs

Still aiming for 1stone off by Easter then I'll still need to lose another 3 stone after that. I'll keep going until I get there! I've realised my portion sizes are huge compared to my 'normal' sized friends. Plus peri menopause makes weight gain/loss very hard!

Spaceracers · 26/02/2024 09:43

Well done everyone on some good results!

I hopped on the scales this morning, expecting a gain (went off the diet this weekend - eating out / takeaway / chocolate / bag of crisps!) but have lost a 1lb! Although I expect the weekend will show itself on the scales in the next few days.

One of the reasons for falling off the wagon was that I was feeling demotivated by the scales not moving despite eating well. But anyway back on it!

Can anyone recommend a calorie counter app? I think I need to go down this route as weight loss was slowing down and I am probably not good at estimating calories when cooking from scratch!

SW: 12 st 4
CW: 11st 8

I would like to be under 11 stone by Easter!

ToddlerMumma · 26/02/2024 10:07

@Spaceracers I use My Fitness Pal for calorie counting and sync it with Fitbit. I add every little thing I eat and drink and it really helps with accountability x

Morwenscapacioussleeves · 26/02/2024 10:30

I'm back to feeling utterly helpless

Goal 13kg
1st week -1kg
2nd week -0.8kg
3rd week -0.4kg
4th week +0.1kg
5th week -1.3kg
6th week +0.2kg
7th week +1.7kg

total -1.6kg

still here for what it's worth.
trying to lose weight always makes me miserable because this is what happens - when I'm not trying I'm happier (until reminded how dangerously fat I am)

Henowner · 26/02/2024 10:32

Morning everyone 🌞

Some great losses here! I've been off in binge eating hell but am now reigning it in. I was 71kg before my lapse so have added a bit on unfortunately.

SW: 77kg
CW: 73.2kg
GW: 60kg

Would like to reach this by Autumn realistically. Hope to be around 68kg by Easter.

GoldMoon · 26/02/2024 10:34

SW 16 st 1.5

3lb loss last week.

Some great results here- for me this won’t be a quick fix, far tougher than I imagined. For me it’s a cheeky glass of wine turning into half a bottle then snacking - I need to work on this. I have increased exercise so do aqua aerobics and strength training at the gym and feel much stronger.
Keep going everyone 👏

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 26/02/2024 11:32

@Spaceracers I use a free app called cronometer. It’s much more accurate than my fitness pal. I also read nutricheck is free very good and it too more accurate.
mfp has several “self entries” that are totally off the mark.
legally manufacturers can be off by 10% on their entries for me that 10% is a big margin of error when 200 calories a day is the difference between loosing and gaining by the end of the week.

Floppy12 · 26/02/2024 14:13

SW 74.1 kg
M.G 58 kg
C.W. 59.2 KG

Loss this week .8 kg. woop woop after 4 weeks of a near enough plateau.
Marginally entered normal BMI today. Im 5 ft 1 inch.
Lost 2 cm off waist in 4 weeks.

Ordered some Birkenstock Madrids today ready for Summer, never tried them before.

Beginning to up the exercise bit more every week now, walking most days now.

Really great losses on the thread.
Good luck to everyone for the coming week.

GiantPigeon · 26/02/2024 14:38

01/01: Unknown/Faulty scales
08/01: 13st 4.29lbs
15/01: 12st 13.9lbs
22/01: 13st 0.98lbs
29/01: 12st 13.6lbs
05/02: 12st 13.8lbs
12/02: 12st 13.1lbs
18/02: 12st 13.4lbs
26/02: 12st 12.7lbs

Putting my weight here to "show up" as such, I'm still chipping away towards weight loss goal, I think this will be a long journey!

Best of luck everyone.

Feb loss to date 4.1 lbs
I’m very pleased with the 1 lb/week loss this month.
My goal weight is 141 lbs, so I’m visualizing myself with 10 lbs to go.

TriceratopsRocks · 26/02/2024 18:42

Well, I originally posted on this thread way back in January, with the best of intentions. But then I just couldn't get motivated so didn't do a thing about actually trying to lose any weight. I finally started on 5 Feb, when a WW offer popped up on my Facebook. I figured I needed a kick so signed up. I've now lost 6lb in 3 weeks, which is a lot better than nothing. I'm not being as strict as I was last time I lost weight, but at least I'm moving in the right direction. I have a family wedding in July and really want to lose another 2 stone for that. I know it's doable, because I've done it before. It's the motivation that's my current problem. That and feeling ill a lot, so very little exercise right now. Well done to all of you who are sticking to it. The thread is so long now I've skipped through a lot of posts. Hope you are mostly doing better than me!

RedDoughnut · 26/02/2024 19:04

@recklessgran how are you?

OP posts:
RedDoughnut · 26/02/2024 19:08

I finally feel a bit more together today.
I haven't weighed. I couldn't face it but I know some jeans that were too big are now too tight. I seem to have skipped the weight where they would have been a good fit.
When I lost my 3 stones at the end of last year I nearly got rid of my largest clothing but it's still here waiting for me to put it on Vinted.i think the thought of having to unpack them made me think twice about some choices today.

WinterStar1 · 26/02/2024 19:50

@chalkyc2 that is amazing and inspiring .... well done.

My win for this week was that I went out for tea, had steak pie and didn't have all the guilty thoughts and binge eating that usually follow having something that I know is heavy on calories. Normally I would go right off the rails and think I'd ruined everything and start filling my face with chocoloate, crisps etc. Hopefully this is another positive step in the quest for a healthy lifestyle.

Have a good week everyone
