6 weeks until Christmas Day - who wants to lose half a stone?

Hollyhead · 13/11/2023 09:48

I have been trying to lose the same half a stone all year, I’m sick to death of it, and if I’m honest I haven’t really tried. I’m not even that bothered about the weight number being exactly half a stone, it’s 2 inches I want to loose from bum/hips/stomach.

I know what I want to do - steps, home weight workouts, some 16:8 fasting and following a set regime of the following diet choices
Breakfast - eggs &a vegetable OR yoghurt with seeds/fruit OR porridge

Lunch - salad OR homemade soup OR plant based tray bake type thing (such as lentils and roasted veg

Dinner - small version of what we’re having with veg replacing carbs where possible - so for instance instead of rice with a stir fry do an extra portion of steamed broccoli.

Anyone want to join me with any weight loss method permissible? Whether it’s vanity pounds or getting a big weight loss kickstarted let’s do this! My wardrobe is full of clothes I love that I can only just get on, I want them back 😁

So, by way of an update I finished eating about 8.30pm last night, so I’m going to try and no eat until 12pm today when I’m going to have a miso soup with pack Choi, and chopped up omlette for protein. I then have a lovely Apple ready for pudding.

Me I'll join. I've gained so much weight this year. I'm slightly into the overweight category.

I'm going to cut back on the lattes and cappuccinos and change to white Americano. That will save a massive amount of calories as I drink 2 per day. I'm going to stop eating sweets and chocolate so often.

But my mum is terminally ill and I've been not looking after myself and not eating well.

Hollyhead · 13/11/2023 09:54

Welcome @Ballsbaill that sounds incredibly tough that your mum is so ill. I agree the coffees sound like a great starting point, I once lost a couple of pounds in a month with that being my only switch.

I'll join you, I've dabbled with 20/4 fasting and it proved to me the bloating could be reduced. I need to do a home workout once a day for my own mental state and today is the kick up the bum I need. I'm going to find a good you tube workout channel - have dumbbells at home so no excuse! Count me in.

Newnamesameoldlurker · 13/11/2023 10:02

Can I join? Need to lose the last stone of baby weight but half a stone would be a good start! Like you hollyhead I haven't really been trying so need to kick-start some motivation. And like you ballsbail I drink way too many calorific coffees- mocha is my weakness

Hollyhead · 13/11/2023 10:18

Welcome @Newnamesameoldlurker and @rockingbird

Good luck with the home workout @rockingbird , I find when I can get into doing them they really uplift me, and I went through a spell where I was definitely stronger as a result.

Baby weight is tough @Newnamesameoldlurker 😁 I found it hard to get motivated both times.

We will celebrate all victories in the next 6 weeks even if we don’t make our target. Making changes you can stick to that result in even a few pounds lost is still a win 💪

I am getting a bit peckish now, but I’m going to have a herbal tea and get through the next hour and 40 by immersing myself in work.

BippityBopper · 13/11/2023 10:23

Can I join? I also need to lose some baby weight.
I could really do with a motivational board as my effort levels are so hit and miss.

TakingTheHorseToFrance · 13/11/2023 10:24

I'm in. Christmas party in 4 weeks. If I lost 5lbs I'd be happy. Red weather warning meant I missed my Monday gym session.

For me I'm going to do 10k minimum steps every day. No biscuits or chocolate. And cut off eating at 6.30pm. I go to the gym 2 times a week so will keep that up

piscofrisco · 13/11/2023 10:25

Me! I started two weeks ago and bar a day off this last Saturday I've eaten mainly Protein and veg. No booze. And I've swum for an hour every other day. I think it's having some effect, but I daren't weigh myself as it it's not I will get disheartened and give up Grin I'm going to give it a full 4 weeks before I get on the scales!

RidingMyBike · 13/11/2023 10:30

Can I join? I'm aiming to lose 9kg, which is apparently nearly 20lb. I've signed up for Noom which thinks it'll take me until early Feb to lose that. So I'm aiming to be partway there by Christmas.

That's really encouraging to hear you lost 2lbs just from dropping the coffees. Thank you 😊

RidingMyBike · 13/11/2023 10:35

I have also swopped cappuccinos for Americanos! And trying to put more planning into meals and what I take to work to eat.

toomanyleggings · 13/11/2023 10:42

I need to lose some too. A good stone but would be happy with half a stone for Xmas. I’ve just been to the shop for soup and some cottage cheese. Not eaten breakfast yet. Going to try and get to lunchtime

Hollyhead · 13/11/2023 11:02

Welcome everyone - 😁

@toomanyleggings I'm trying to get to lunchtime too, I’ve just ridden through my first temptation and now feel a bit more back on the straight and narrow - 12pm is my aim.

@RidingMyBike you can definitely get a chunk of that done by Christmas, how are you finding Noom? I’ve never tried it but have been tempted, but last year I wasted money on Zoe so I still feel burnt from that 😂

@piscofrisco that sounds amazing, how are you feeling for it? Fingers crossed for a great result when you do weigh in.

@BippityBopper welcome, what one small action could you do today to get you started?

@TakingTheHorseToFrance a Christmas party can be very motivational! What do you find the best way to get steps in?

piscofrisco · 13/11/2023 11:52

I was feeling alright, but I seem to have developed an ear infection, probs from the swimming! Which just goes to show that my theory about exercise actually being bad for you is true 😂

Hollyhead · 13/11/2023 13:00

Typical Piscofrisco! I hope it resolves quickly.

I’ve stuck to my lunchtime plan and got my steps up to 4000. I still have a school run to do on foot so will try and get to 8000 after then.

Anyone fancy sharing recipies? My miso soup was great, and I’ve just found a hack that eating 5 walnuts alongside my americano almost gives a coffee and walnut cake vibe…

rockingbird · 13/11/2023 13:02

Well I've found a nice 15 minute dumbbell workout which works on the legs/arms and abs, going to switch it up and do alternative days with a long morning walk Tuesday and Friday - I suspect I'll be hurting tomorrow morning 😆 will brave the scales tomorrow morning to record my current weight. Then I'm holding off doing so again until the following week as not to upset myself..!

tweetypi · 13/11/2023 13:08

I'm in! Have been slowly losing weight since having DC2 8 months ago and if I can shift half a stone that will get me down into the next stone bracket. I start each day off with the best intentions but it falls apart mid afternoon! Have done well so far today, no breakfast then an early lunch of soup and a roll. Planning a sensible dinner and then NO snacking tonight!

toomanyleggings · 13/11/2023 13:11

So I’m on no breakfast. Lunch was a bowl of low call chicken soup with grains, a protein bagel thin with whipped day free cottage cheese and a I’ve nibbled on two plain rice cakes. Need to sew my gob shut until tea now

Starwarslover · 13/11/2023 13:27

I’d like to join if that’s ok? I’ve been doing weight watchers (which I’m well aware is hated on here!) on and off for the past 9 months and have lost a stone. I’d like to try and lose more for Christmas but also not let the excuse of Xmas parties, inevitable meet ups etc give me an excuse to undo all my good work!

Good luck everyone, sounds like you’re all in a really good mindset towards it

piscofrisco · 13/11/2023 13:38

I've got my daughters 18th in early December. Helpfully for the slightly rotund she has declared it a white parry. So I've got two weeks to get in to a white dress, which I last fit in to this time last year and then barely. I don't like my chances tbh!

piscofrisco · 13/11/2023 13:42

I've had about 600 calories today so far. Couple of protein yoghurts, 2 eggs, 1 slice of brown toast and a bit of chicken from yesterdays roast, 3 cups of tea with semi skimmed milk. Beef stew for dinner, which has got some carby veg in but no potatoes so not awful. Going to try and take the doggies for a walk but I will probs only do 4000 steps today, though that's not bad when I'm feeling like shite so I'm forgiving myself a bit.

Adamfromgirls · 13/11/2023 14:10

Me too :)

Last week I was so good and failed spectacularly over the weekend. I'm 16:8 fasting and so far I have eaten:

Tofu, spinach and carrot scrambled with gherkins on top (much better than it sounds)

eating with kids so not sure what's for dinner yet.

Justmeandmyself · 13/11/2023 14:24

Hi! Please can I join? I have 9lbs to lose. Have lost 18lbs in the last 2 months by upping my exercise, cutting down on junk and juicing. I’ve come to a stand still (well, the junk is creeping back in!) so need a little push to get that last bit off. 😃
