6 weeks until Christmas Day - who wants to lose half a stone?

Hollyhead · 13/11/2023 09:48

I have been trying to lose the same half a stone all year, I’m sick to death of it, and if I’m honest I haven’t really tried. I’m not even that bothered about the weight number being exactly half a stone, it’s 2 inches I want to loose from bum/hips/stomach.

I know what I want to do - steps, home weight workouts, some 16:8 fasting and following a set regime of the following diet choices
Breakfast - eggs &a vegetable OR yoghurt with seeds/fruit OR porridge

Lunch - salad OR homemade soup OR plant based tray bake type thing (such as lentils and roasted veg

Dinner - small version of what we’re having with veg replacing carbs where possible - so for instance instead of rice with a stir fry do an extra portion of steamed broccoli.

Anyone want to join me with any weight loss method permissible? Whether it’s vanity pounds or getting a big weight loss kickstarted let’s do this! My wardrobe is full of clothes I love that I can only just get on, I want them back 😁

Hi everyone, been very busy today. Not done too badly although I did sucumb to 2 biscuits this afternoon, but I'm in that PMT ravenous phase and normally the damage would be much worse. Have done 7000 steps - finding it hard to do many more around FT work and dark nights and it's really not safe to walk around in the dark here as there is no streetlighting or pavements!

Welcome to all newcomers, and well done everyone who's beginning to see progress. I wore one of my sparkly christmas jumpers today around the house to remind me that I want to feel awesome in 5.5 weeks time, not constantly thinking about my muffin top!

@toomanyleggings Well done that's a really inspiring loss to get us all started! And @StarShipControl I hate it when work over running ruins my plans!

well done for todays efforts everyone, having this accountability is great.

Today I found out I’m 4 weeks pregnant and I’m a bit shocked! I am keen to keep up my exercise (bootcamp) for now and will also be sticking to healthy nourishing foods.

I might not end up losing half a stone by Christmas but I certainly want to keep excess weight gain to a minimum

Hollyhead · 16/11/2023 20:39

Wow! Congratulations @Loseitfor2024 I think focusing on health and not too much weight gain is sensible - I put on 4 stone in my 2nd pg 😆

Oooh congrats @Loseitfor2024!

I managed just over 10,000 steps today. Ok, so actually 10,001 apparently! But I did have more of an afternoon snack than I intended. Oops.

Reba767 · 17/11/2023 06:45

Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

Starwarslover · 17/11/2023 06:51

Congratulations @Loseitfor2024 what lovely news!

weigh in day for me and I lost 1lb which I’m happy with. I’ve been steadily losing for a few months so don’t get the benefit of beginning of diet big loss sadly.

onwards and downwards! Good luck to everyone weighing in the next few days

delilabell · 17/11/2023 06:53

I lost 3.5 this week. I may just make my 6stone.
Keep going everyone!

Love this idea to wear a Christmas jumper and think of how you want to feel in 5 weeks- stealing this!
@Loseitfor2024 congratulations!! Very sensible idea to aim for not gaining too much! I gained too much and trying to lose it 6 months pp is difficult!
I haven't been sticking to tracking on mfp (sick baby, too stressed) but have lost another half a pound this morning. Still finding this thread v motivational. Keep up the good work everyone 👏

Loseitfor2024 · 17/11/2023 07:26

Thanks everyone! It’s come as a bit of a shock. I weighed myself this morning and have lost 2lbs since Monday.

I read something yesterday about how you don’t actually need to ‘eat for two’ and that in your second and third trimester you only need to consume an additional 350-450 cals per day. I’m going to try my best to keep a healthy diet and keep up exercise!

well done @Starwarslover and @delilabell for your losses this week!

StarShipControl · 17/11/2023 07:58

@Loseitfor2024 Congratulations! How exciting Smile
I wish I'd taken the 'no need to eat for two' advice in my pregnancies. I wouldn't be where I am right now! Grrr.

Looking forward to a healthy day today.
Still have some lentil soup for lunch. I'm making burgers for dinner so I'll have mine without the bun and with some home made coleslaw.

Hope everyone has a good day.

RidingMyBike · 17/11/2023 08:13

I had GD when pregnant so really had to limit my calories to stop my baby growing too big and keep my sugar levels down. I wasn't overweight when I became pregnant and came out of the hospital weighing less than before I was pregnant - my maternity jeans wouldn't stay up so I was straight back into normal jeans. So definitely no need to eat for two ;-)

RidingMyBike · 17/11/2023 08:15

I'm another 0.5 kg down this morning, which makes a kg this week so far. About 2lbs?

I'm now about 3kg off the point when I know my clothes will stop feeling tight.

Hollyhead · 17/11/2023 08:44

Morning everyone! Well done @Starwarslover @delilabell and @RidingMyBike on losses. I think from next week I might make Friday my weighin day too.

I’m in dangerous territory as I don’t have a proper plan for today, but I do have lots of healthy options in, so that does always help good choices. It’s so cold this morning I might go for scrambled egg and chilli flakes when I break my fast.

Congratulations @Loseitfor2024! Wishing you lots of luck with keeping up the healthy eating during pregnancy 🤞

I've realised snacking is definitely my downfall. Maternity leave is making it far too easy to indulge!

Plan for today:
Breakfast: overnight oats
Lunch: soup and roll
Dinner: homemade pizza

Plus planning to try out the new coffee shop in town today, will aim to stick to just a coffee!

I'm feeling a bit wiped out but am walking the school run later which is a couple of miles.

Hope the day goes well for all you other losers 😁

JanyewithaY · 17/11/2023 11:17

Congratulations @Loseitfor2024 , wishing you a healthy, happy pregnancy 💕

Love the idea of wearing a Christmas jumper and imagining 5 weeks time @Hollyhead - I'm going to give that a whirl too!

I'm getting the hang of the calorie tracking app and yesterday managed just over 10, 000 steps so I'm happy with that.

Meal Plan today involves soup at lunch time and cottage pie for dinner. I'm going to up my water intake and aim for 10,000 steps again 🚶

Hope everyone's Friday goes well

Reba767 · 17/11/2023 12:58

You're all superstars!!

I'm weighing in on Mon. Anyone else? X

RidingMyBike · 17/11/2023 13:01

Yes, my next one will be Monday as I don't weigh in at the weekend!

Hollyhead · 17/11/2023 15:02

I think I’m noticing a NSV. I have really focused this week on health, I have calorie counted a bit with foods which are calorie dense, but overall I’ve focused on nourishing foods lots of veg etc. I’m on day 20 now of a very short cycle and normally day 20 is when I feel at my most rancid, head fog, lethargic, depressed. I feel pretty good today! It obviously could be a coincidence, but I’d like that not to be true!

Hi all, a bad day for me today as it's our wedding anniversary so we've been out for lunch and we are going out with the kids for dinner later. My period is late (not pregnant, cycles a bit peri meno weird), and I actually wish it would start as I am so bloated. Still struggling with my ear infection-second lot of anti biotics now-so still can't swim. But all in all I've had a generally positive few weeks and I fancy my jeans felt a little bit looser today. 🤞

Wishing you all a lovey healthy weekend

Newnamesameoldlurker · 18/11/2023 09:34

I fell off the wagon yesterday, baby is sick and the stress and exhaustion led me to eat no less than 3 large salted caramel cookies. But amazingly haven't regained any weight on my weigh- in this morning. Need to get back on track today.
But the cold weather has triggered an obsessive desire to get a velvetiser. I keep thinking about it and looking them up online. Trying to kid myself that a hot chocolate in the evening won't sabotage my weight loss efforts. Someone talk me out of it please!!

Hollyhead · 18/11/2023 10:28

Morning everyone, I am feeling a bit delicate after a couple of glasses of wine last night! But I did stick to my light dinner, so feeling pretty pleased about that, and will manage a fast until at least midday today.

@Newnamesameoldlurker I can talk you out of it! But not right now as I have to dash out - I will come back with my anti-velvitiser tips later (and they don't involve total abstinence!!).

I've just started my cycle, so my weight has shot up by a couple of pounds.

Will plod on with my eating window and (reasonably) healthy choices and hope it'll drop back down in a few days.

Ballsbaill · 18/11/2023 11:36

I've lost 1.7kg or 3.75 lbs in a week. Have been having anxiety so that might be fuelling it.

Now down to 70kg or 11st exact.

piscofrisco · 18/11/2023 11:49

Morning all. Weekends are far harder to be healthy I find. Have had a big croissant from the bakers. That will also be lunch and then whatever we have for dinner. So salvageable but I'm annoyed with myself as I just had the damn croissant out of Saturday habit without thinking really.
The DD's are both working this evening til half eleven and I'll have to go and get them so at least I can't be tempted into wine!
