6 weeks until Christmas Day - who wants to lose half a stone?

Hollyhead · 13/11/2023 09:48

I have been trying to lose the same half a stone all year, I’m sick to death of it, and if I’m honest I haven’t really tried. I’m not even that bothered about the weight number being exactly half a stone, it’s 2 inches I want to loose from bum/hips/stomach.

I know what I want to do - steps, home weight workouts, some 16:8 fasting and following a set regime of the following diet choices
Breakfast - eggs &a vegetable OR yoghurt with seeds/fruit OR porridge

Lunch - salad OR homemade soup OR plant based tray bake type thing (such as lentils and roasted veg

Dinner - small version of what we’re having with veg replacing carbs where possible - so for instance instead of rice with a stir fry do an extra portion of steamed broccoli.

Anyone want to join me with any weight loss method permissible? Whether it’s vanity pounds or getting a big weight loss kickstarted let’s do this! My wardrobe is full of clothes I love that I can only just get on, I want them back 😁

My day ended bad - we has no power so got a chippers and pizza. Didn't over eat and went for a 15 min walk/jog

Citygirlrurallife · 14/11/2023 22:12

Broke no alcohol rule but kept within the fasting window (thanks to not having lunch until 1 today) I’d like to eventually get my fasting to 20/4 as well but need to adjust my body’s expectations gradually. Otherwise an ok day with a MadFit youtube workout

going to attempt spin tomorrow…

SweatpantPotato · 14/11/2023 22:20

Another (enormous) salad today. Avoided the snack table again! Will weigh in when I get home Saturday, nervous for the outcome!

StarShipControl · 15/11/2023 00:04

Good day today.
Chickpea salad in pitta bread, avocado, tiny bit of tuna pasta, small piece of apple cake
Only did 5.5k steps though. Just too busy on work days to do any more.

icecreamisforwintertoo · 15/11/2023 03:01

Hi, please can I join? I want to lose about a stone of old lock down weight, but half a stone before Christmas would be a great start and take me below ten stone which I haven’t been for almost four years.

I am using my fitness pal intermittently and focussing on portion control and minimising carbs as well as healthy eating generally. Also exercising - running an shave started doing weights regularly at home. I really want to do this !!

icecreamisforwintertoo · 15/11/2023 03:02

Good day today food wise and stuck to one glass wine when out (and no crisps!)

Hollyhead · 15/11/2023 07:45

Welcome @icecreamisforwintertoo :)

I’m feeling motivated for day 3, I have the walking school run today so that’s automatically 4500 steps. I’d really like to break my mental block on breaking out the weight exercises with a you tube video but I don’t know if it’s possible today as DH away with work. Still, I have healthy meal choices planned and I have that nice feeling now of not wanting to undo the first 2 days work, and 2 days off processed crap (I’m looking at you Gold bars) has massively reduced their appeal to me!

tweetypi · 15/11/2023 09:59

It's was DH's birthday yesterday which wasn't a great start for me! Drawing a line now and planning a healthy day today:

Greek yoghurt for breakfast
Sensible lunch - popping into Tesco shortly
Pre planned dinner

Walk to baby class and back (couple of miles)
Workout this evening

Remember to take vitamins!

toomanyleggings · 15/11/2023 10:46

3lb off since Monday. Don’t know how I managed to keep to it yesterday as I had loads of things that normally trigger a binge.
Today I’ve already got some jacket pots in the oven for lunch. Probably do soup for tea

Maraudingmarauders · 15/11/2023 12:23

I'll join if it's okay. I'm only 7weeks post birth so taking things easy, but I've got 6kg to go for my starting pregnancy weight. Then another 10 or so after that.
5'6" and 34.
I lost quite a bit in the first few weeks as my water retention went etc (down from 91kg to 86kg) but it has stayed the same for about 3 weeks now and I want to keep up a healthy decline. 6 weeks to Christmas and half a stone would be ideal.

I do myfitnesspal calorie counting. I do a 40ish minute dog walk each day, now carrying Littleone in a sling. Sometimes a 20minute walk on top. No other exercise at the moment as I had a C section and scar keeps getting infected so no swimming or anything too strenuous.

Starting my journey by weighing food - I'm a definite secret eater/don't realise what I'm consuming especially butter/oil.

piscofrisco · 15/11/2023 13:01

Hi all, just breaking my fast now. Distracted self today with starting my pre Christmas deep clean.which I think should also count as exercise as it involves vigorous movement and stretching!

mondaytosunday · 15/11/2023 13:35

I plan in losing over a stone in the next month! I can do it - discipline!
Breakfast (the exact same every day): large egg, 50gr smoked salmon, 6-8 cherry tomatoes, tea with milk
Lunch: soup with one slice multi seeded bread, or salad and protein and one slice bread.
Dinner: fairly normal but portion controlled.
Snack: two caramel rice cakes.
Total about 1400-1600 cal depending on dinner.
No alcohol.
8000 steps/day

I do 14:10 or 16:8 but not sure that helps.

Hollyhead · 15/11/2023 13:41

Well done and welcome everyone! I broke my fast at 11 with a delicious spiced apple porridge, about 350 calories. I’m still full now, I’m going to do the school run by walking the long way around so should be at around 7000 steps after that. I’ve planned a really nice dinner of roasted root veg, looking forward to it already!

Please can I join too? Scared to weigh myself though! I was 11 stone a month ago but then it was my birthday and I have done nothing but eat and drink for the past 5 weeks. My plan is:

Two meals a day except Mon and Wed, because on those days I have evening exercise classes and don't have dinner until 9pm. I need a snack before the classes to keep me going.

Lunch to be low-carb as sandwiches are sneaking back in. Carbs once a day, basically.

Alcohol only one weekend night/when out.

No sugar, at least until 1 Dec, and then I'll decide what to do about my annual mince pie habit.

Home cooking if I'm at home. No takeaways. Pret/M&S lunch on office days allowed, so long as it's low carb.

I did Fast 800 earlier this year and it was really successful (I lost 21lbs) but I don't have the stamina at this end of the year. I'll see how this easier version works for a few weeks and then reassess after Christmas.

JanyewithaY · 15/11/2023 14:11

Hello, a little late to the party but hope it's ok to join. I have a bit to lose but 6lbs by Christmas would be amazing. I'm starting the Louise Parker 6 week programme....or a variation of it at least! So far so good today 😉

RidingMyBike · 15/11/2023 17:10

Ooh @Hollyhead
What is the spiced apple porridge? That sounds nice and I feel like branching out a bit in my breakfast choices.

Welcome @OldFatLadyTriesAgain this can be your time!

Thanks so much to everyone who has joined, I've had a really sucessful first three days, although I'm not going to weigh myself until the PMT water retention disappears! I've stuck really well to my healthy eating today, although the exercise not so good as my work meeting ran over so I couldn't do the school run the long way round so I'm only going to hit 6000 steps today. But still, that's still ok.

@RidingMyBike I measured the quantities so I could control the calories but this still made a massive portion.
40g porridge oats, 200ml milk, 50ml(ish) boiling water at the end as it got a bit too thick.
Make the porridge however you normally do - I did on the hob as I think it makes it creamier than the microwave. Then once it was almost cooked I added a dash of cinnamon and all spice (any mixed spice combo would work or just cinnamon), and I grated a medium sized apple in - if you wanted the apple to cook down a bit then you could add from the beginning. The apple I used was quite a sweet variety so didn't need any extra sugar in, but in the past I've added up to a teaspoon of brown sugar to taste, but decided to miss those calories today! I also added a few (about 5) smashed up walnuts to the top and half a teaspoon of flaxseed because apparently they're super healthy and although I didn't rate Zoe when I did it, I do try and follow their advice about boosting the number of plants I eat.

Sounds like everyone’s doing really well! I had a good day, I was in the office which I find makes it much easier to not eat much as I’m so distracted.

weigh in is Friday so am hoping to have lost a bit!

RidingMyBike · 15/11/2023 22:41

Oooh that does sound tasty. I'll have to get my act together and give it a try.

StarShipControl · 15/11/2023 23:20

Day was ok. Intermittent fasting and food was ok though I do need to eat better. I'm still eating too many carbs for weight loss.

TakingTheHorseToFrance · 15/11/2023 23:30

Ooohhh apple porridge sounds lovely...

I had a rubbish day today. Extremely busy with work and general life stuff. And I ended up scoffing too much chocolate and crap and not enough good nutritional meals.

I'm hitting the steps by squeezing in ten minute walks here and there so I'm reaching about 13k steps a day.

Just need to sort the food out

StarShipControl · 15/11/2023 23:31

Oh and more water! I need to drink more water.

Newnamesameoldlurker · 16/11/2023 07:13

Justmeandmyself · 14/11/2023 20:46

Keep up the good work everyone!

I’ve been having the majority of my food earlier on in the day and go light from about 4ish. Seems to help me lose weight.

@SweatpantPotato I just spent a week in NYC and managed to come back the same weight. I didn’t overindulge like I normally would but I didn’t restrict myself completely and allowed myself treats. I also managed to walk between 25-30k steps a day which helped!!! And I won’t lie… I took my scales with me to keep me on track! 😊

Does everyone weigh in every morning or once a week?? I’m a daily weigher unless I know I’ve eaten way too much and then I don’t bother and leave it a few days!

I'm exactly the same- weigh every day when I'm doing well and avoid the scale when I haven't! I've read that weighing every day helps a lot, its the same hawthorn effect as tracking on eg myfitnesspal.
Weighed in this morning - lost half a pound.
@OldFatLadyTriesAgain I love your username😂

piscofrisco · 16/11/2023 07:27

Morning all. I didn't do too well yesterday as for various reasons had to eat later than I wanted and all that was available was delicious lasagne. So I probs came in at about 1500 calories. Not awful but not ideal. Back to it today and easier to stick to as I don't have kids or dh to worry about as they are at other respective parents/out with work respectively. Need to finish some decorating today and then into London later for some Christmas shopping so that will give me some steps hopefully. I will walk from King's Cross to Oxford st if I get time just for the exercise.
