6 weeks until Christmas Day - who wants to lose half a stone?

Hollyhead · 13/11/2023 09:48

I have been trying to lose the same half a stone all year, I’m sick to death of it, and if I’m honest I haven’t really tried. I’m not even that bothered about the weight number being exactly half a stone, it’s 2 inches I want to loose from bum/hips/stomach.

I know what I want to do - steps, home weight workouts, some 16:8 fasting and following a set regime of the following diet choices
Breakfast - eggs &a vegetable OR yoghurt with seeds/fruit OR porridge

Lunch - salad OR homemade soup OR plant based tray bake type thing (such as lentils and roasted veg

Dinner - small version of what we’re having with veg replacing carbs where possible - so for instance instead of rice with a stir fry do an extra portion of steamed broccoli.

Anyone want to join me with any weight loss method permissible? Whether it’s vanity pounds or getting a big weight loss kickstarted let’s do this! My wardrobe is full of clothes I love that I can only just get on, I want them back 😁

@Brieandbeetroot Totally get what you mean about not actually knowing what I should be aiming for in terms of weight and measurements.
I started at 11 stone in September and am down to 9 stone 4.5. When I was younger, would say early 20s, 9 stone 4 was my heavy weight so although I’m happy that I’ve got down that far, am now thinking I should go for 8 stone 13. But then I remember when I was 8 stone 7 so do I aim for that?! Obviously my body is different now I’m mid 40s and have had two kids. 🤔🤔

Just checking in at the start of the weekend - a weekend that will include 2 meals out.
I've been 'on it' this week, and enjoyed having a very short eating window. Weighed myself this morning and was 0.5lb lower than when I started 3/4 weeks ago! Despite this seeming like very little progress, I actually feel great. My waist is slimmer etc.

Don't want to go wild over the weekend, though, and might do as there's mulled wine involved....!!😂

Scottishskifun · 18/12/2023 10:43

Weigh in for me this morning, 11 stone 6 so down 2lb from last week. Now wearing a belt with my jeans which I didn't think I would need!
Was good on my nights out and stuck to a few gin and slimline tonics.

Busy week ahead, I'm 2lb off a stone loss since starting so hopefully it will give me the motivation to not undo it all over Xmas. But I'm definitely sticking to my 16 hour fasts regardless due to health benefits so some damage limitations of not eating celebrations at 9am!

Hollyhead · 18/12/2023 11:30

Hi everyone, I’ve been awol as have had a horrible few days of hormonal issues including loads of bloating, I’ve been so tearful and shit. Not even sure what I have and haven’t eaten, but weighed in this morning and another 0.5kg down! Nothing too catastrophic planned diet wise until Christmas Eve/Christmas Day/Boxing Day now so the plan is to be sensible until then, and then allow myself a bit of relaxation room, although not too much as a) I don’t enjoy loads of the treats anyway - 3 chocolates at a time is enough, and b) I don’t want to undo my progress now I’m finally feeling better about myself!

@Scottishskifun that is amazing progress well done you, are you still feeling the same benefits?

@Ohyesthankyouglitter how was your weekend?

@Hollyhead hope it's all settled down a bit now! Good going to get through a tough week!

I'm still feeling the benefits leg pain wise, fatigue wise had a bit more headaches etc but it's also a mental busy time at work and I'm really bad for when feeling more normal forgetting that I'm not so over doing things! Just got this week to get through and close off loads of stuff then be done for a few weeks!

Scottishskifun · 23/12/2023 10:48

Weighed early as frankly nobody should be standing on scales on Christmas day given Monday is my weigh day!

Now 11 stone 4 so down 2lb and total loss so far is 1 stone.
I'm cooking Christmas eve and on Christmas day so some things are easier to be better for me (air fryer roast potatoes are also amazing!)

I'm still going to stick to fasting though!

Scottishskifun · 23/12/2023 11:01

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

Hollyhead · 23/12/2023 12:18

Hi @Scottishskifun 1st is a great marker tp get to! My final result for this 6 week stint is 3lb lost and about 3/4 inch lost. I’m really pleased with this! Like you I’m going to try and get some sensible decisions and some fasting too. I’m also off work now so I’ll be able to get a ton of steps in too 😁 Happy Christmas everyone whatever you’re doing!

@Hollyhead that's amazing! 3/4 inches off is incredible!

I would have never anticipated 1 stone and I think I would have failed if that had been my aim.

Yes I really don't want to go backwards as I'm feeling better my clothes are fitting more comfortably and I am enjoying less pain!

I think it's easy to go oh it's Christmas and just eat everything I'm definitely not scrimping but just adjusting to 1 meal the days I know will be higher calories and go for more veg!

SweatpantPotato · 24/12/2023 14:37

Hi all, happy holidays!!
At weigh in today I'm officially down half a stone since joining the thread, I'm very surprised and pleased! I didn't think it was going to happen. I would love to join a post after Christmas! We have some travel coming up in February and it would be amazing to lose another half stone by then. Warm wishes to all of you and your families!

Hollyhead · 24/12/2023 14:54

Awesome @SweatpantPotato ! You made the official goal. Have a great Christmas 😁

Forgot to update! I was 4lb down in total before Christmas. Loss slowed considerably with all the Christmas stuff going on but I have managed to fit in some walks. Didn't weight or track meals over Christmas but will start again once the schools are back.

Hollyhead · 02/01/2024 09:01

Well done @RidingMyBike

Anyone alive out there? Anyone ready for the January edition? I have started a transitional phase back to reality, too scared to weigh in yet!

OP posts:
RidingMyBike · 02/01/2024 23:00

I'm not weighing until next week once 'normal' routine resumes but the house is now almost clear of Christmas food and I've restocked with healthier stuff.

Good luck everyone!

SweatpantPotato · 03/01/2024 05:38

I'm alive! And ready to get started. I did backslide and gained back a pound, I'm so mad! I'm going to reset by going back to IF, that seems to work the best for me if I'm disciplined. What is everyone else doing, anything new?

Brieandbeetroot · 03/01/2024 07:57

Morning all, I think I've not gained, which is all I could have hoped for! Last couple of days have been more normal so hoping to shift some of the bloat although AF is due shortly so that's not helping.

RidingMyBike · 03/01/2024 08:10

I'm about to head out for a 45 min walk before work.

Scottishskifun · 03/01/2024 09:24

Weighed this morning up 2lb but period due in a few days and a bit bloated so not sure if it's that or I put it on.
Happy that it's limited damage though.

I didn't manage to fully intermittent fast (was having drinks etc) for about a week and fatigue and pain definitely ramped up so back on it properly now!

Justmeandmyself · 04/01/2024 18:42

Hey everyone. How was your Christmas?
I put on a couple of pounds but have since lost them so not too bad. Trying to get back to “normal” though the rain has stopped any good, really long walks. Hoping to up my steps again soon!!!

Toomanyemails · 05/01/2024 15:43

Hi everyone, I put on about 0.5kg over Christmas but have now lost that and more through a method I absolutely don't recommend which is a painful wisdom tooth infection and near inability to eat 😥
I was all geared up for a great start to the new year and was in a good mindset until this kicked off on new years day, so very much feeling sorry for myself. Desperately hoping my antibiotics kick in soon and I can get back on track with some mindful eating, and with fun things too. My dentist says I'll need the tooth extracted so that will be another week or so of minimal, liquid diet at some point in the future

Hollyhead · 07/01/2024 11:31

Oh no @Toomanyemails that sounds horrible, although yes good for keeping on the straight and narrow.

Ive still not weighed in as I’m very pre menstural and feel like a balloon so it’s likely to be disheartening. Will weigh in as soon as I deflate which should be by Wednesday. I’m then going to get back into 16:8, tons of veg and sensible portions as it was really going well for me before the Christmas feasting began!

OP posts:
Brieandbeetroot · 12/01/2024 14:34

I really need to get back on the bandwagon, I've just been ill since Christmas and haven't the energy to exercise or the motivation to say no to cakes etc. I'll regret it if I don't though.

Scottishskifun · 12/01/2024 16:02

I'm back on the band wagon 11 stone 1.5lb weigh in this morning ing so down 4.5lb (but had a lot of period bloat last weigh in so not really true loss).

Energy levels are back increasing from the 16/8 fasting as well.
Next aim is back to under 11stone by end of the month - have a lot of birthdays and meals out so it's a realistic aim for me!

Brieandbeetroot · 12/01/2024 16:32

Well done @Scottishskifun. I find I really need exercise to motivate my healthy eating so being ill is really throwing me off - I just want comfort food!

I've got about 4 months until a family wedding and I want to wear some outfits I already have rather than buy anything new, and I think I need to lose around 7 pounds to make that possible so should be very doable, just need to not put it off! Would be nice to have achieved that by mid March and then perhaps even lose a little more before the wedding.

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 13/01/2024 12:14

Hey all !!
Had flu over the holidays, recovery involved eating all the Christmas chocolate - arghh!
Feeling better now.

Weighed myself this morning and am 12st 1. This is higher than I was in December, but don't feel overly discouraged.

Aiming for 11st 3.

Plan is to have two very moderate days (OMAD), and then be moderate all the rest of the time too eg no snacking, awareness of portion size etc. I'm going to up the exercise again, and try and include some at-home strength stuff too - I definitely feel better in my body (whatever size) when I'm strong (ish).
