6 weeks until Christmas Day - who wants to lose half a stone?

Hollyhead · 13/11/2023 09:48

I have been trying to lose the same half a stone all year, I’m sick to death of it, and if I’m honest I haven’t really tried. I’m not even that bothered about the weight number being exactly half a stone, it’s 2 inches I want to loose from bum/hips/stomach.

I know what I want to do - steps, home weight workouts, some 16:8 fasting and following a set regime of the following diet choices
Breakfast - eggs &a vegetable OR yoghurt with seeds/fruit OR porridge

Lunch - salad OR homemade soup OR plant based tray bake type thing (such as lentils and roasted veg

Dinner - small version of what we’re having with veg replacing carbs where possible - so for instance instead of rice with a stir fry do an extra portion of steamed broccoli.

Anyone want to join me with any weight loss method permissible? Whether it’s vanity pounds or getting a big weight loss kickstarted let’s do this! My wardrobe is full of clothes I love that I can only just get on, I want them back 😁

Me please!! I started a few days ago and finding the fitbit is working well, I've been wearing it on my ankle at work as not allowed them on wrist and been logging all my food on there.
I'm going to weigh in every Monday. Its interesting to see how much good adds up and even though I didn't think I was eating alot I can see how I have been having too many calories it's the extra picky bits I find.

Reba767 · 16/11/2023 07:35

Has anyone tried those high protein yoghurts/puddings, 20g of protein in each one.
Today for breakfast I've had scrambled eggs with mushrooms and tomatoes and a 20g chocolate protein yoghurt.

Yes I've had them but tbh I can't stand the artificial sweetener taste in most. I haven't found one that doesn't taste of it.

Ballsbaill · 16/11/2023 07:48

Way too early for breakfast. I'm not naturally hungry until about 11am or later but still it doesn't work.

I just got my period so I'm hoping for a loss of water weight if nothing else so it will spur me on.

Reba767 · 16/11/2023 08:11

I've got to have breakfast early as leaving for work soon and don't get a break until 1, we can't even have a cup of tea or snack on shift so I need something to keep me going.

Yes I know what you mean and I do worry about artificial sweetners and health.

piscofrisco · 16/11/2023 09:02

@Reba767 I have those yoghurts/pristine puddings all the time. I really like them, and they are quite filling. I know they are probably full of lots of stuff that's bad for you as well as the protein but I can't be faced with that when I need something easy and satisfying and I'm busy. I'm hoping by to cut out ultra processed stuff in the new year when I've kick started my weight loss a bit but for now I'm doing well to just eat in defecit and not snack on chocolate and crisps!

Oh that's so rubbish. Your breakfast sounds amazing though 😋

Hope stragglers are allowed to sign up!

I'm 10.12 and nothing fits!

Want to get back to 9.7 but in the short term anything that makes my waistbands less tight will be counted as a win.

Hollyhead · 16/11/2023 09:14

Welcome @Reba767 I’m not a big fan of the taste but agree it’s one step at a time and if they work for you now go for it! I’d actually love a job where I couldn’t pick and snack all day! It would really help. For a protein boost I haven’t done one for a while but I quite like chia seeds soaked in yoghurt with fruit/honey to taste - I might experiment soo so I’ll share the results!

I did a sneaky weigh in this morning which I said I wouldn’t do but I woke up feeling thinner 🤣 no loss yet but I’m on a day of my cycle where I’d have gained at least 1kg of water weight right now so I’m encouraged by the number. Will weigh and measure on Monday now and not before!!

5lb off this morning from Monday. There’s a lot of water weight involved with this I imagine. I’m 13st 2 this morning ( 5ft 10). Not sure what to eat today. Hungry already and need to get to at least 11 am

tweetypi · 16/11/2023 09:34

I had a good day yesterday, my Apple Watch says I burned over 1000 calories and my 3 meals were good. My downfall were too many snacks - crisps, nature valley bar, slice of birthday cake and an ice cream 😬

Today my meals are:
Breakfast: overnight oats
Lunch: soup and a roll
Dinner: homemade burger, wedges and coleslaw

I'm going to aim to have no more than 2 snacks today. I've not got much time to fit in exercise today but I'm going to aim to hit 10,000 steps by being generally active.

My current weight is 13st 9lbs, my overall goal is 10st but it would be great to get into the 12's before the new year.

JanyewithaY · 16/11/2023 10:04

Morning all, hope everyone's day is going to plan.

I had a pretty good day yesterday, downloaded MyNetDiary and have started tracking calories/ exercise etc. I can see already how much hidden calories I consume! Does anyone else use it? I'm making soup for lunch and I'm trying to figure out how to measure that 🤔

Have a day at home today, lots of jobs to get done so hopefully that will get my steps up

StarShipControl · 16/11/2023 11:01

I made a carrot and lentil soup before work this morning. Go me. That's ready for my lunch with some pitta bread.
Dinner will be paneer and spinach. I'm making rice for everyone but I'll have it with some grated courgette (and pretend it's like rice)

Yes - I have the high protein yoghurts regularly as a snack. They really fill you up.

Justmeandmyself · 16/11/2023 12:30

@LucyTeatime Hi! I started at about 11 stone at the beginning of September and am now at 9 stone 8lbs so similar to what you’re aiming for. Aiming to lose a bit more - maybe down to 9 stone in the end, but just wanted to say it’s doable!!

PictureFrameWindow · 16/11/2023 12:53

Posting so that I don't eat any more chocolate than my allotted 1 square 😬

TakingTheHorseToFrance · 16/11/2023 14:28

@Justmeandmyself that's bloody amazing!! Well done.

I'm 9st 4 if I got to just under 9stone I'd be happy. I'm very short so the few extra lbs make a big difference. It's the difference between fitting comfortably into clothes

I'm the same at the moment, I just need to kick start the weight loss to begin with! I am surprisingly full/satisfied and eating around 1300/1400 cals a day at the moment.

Reba767 · 16/11/2023 16:48

I'm 5ft 6.5 and weight 12st 2, I hadn't weighed for 2 ish years before Mon and it was a shock.
11st is my aim as I'm slim at that weight and a 12/14 dress size. I know heavy bones are a myth but I do seem to weigh heavier than I look?! When I went down in the 9 stone range in my early 20s I looked thin and my periods stopped.

SpiritOfEdna · 16/11/2023 17:17

another straggler, wanting to keep on the straight and narrow until christmas. I want to lose another 5 pounds by then and I will do it by:

  1. Fasting - my window is generally 10am - 6pm; but the next week has got some meals out and am on holiday for a week so I need to be mindful of juggling timings, but am in the routine of it now.
  2. log everything on MFP (the good the bad and the ugly), again, in the routine of it now
  3. 10K steps a day is doable, as there will be lots of walking regardless of the weather 😄
  4. After my holiday, not to miss a training session in the gym. 2 x week for 50 mins
  5. Use the app I've downloaded to tick off my daily activities - very satisfying
That's all I don't want an endless list to plough through everyday that I'll give up on. SoE.

Does anyone like Turkish Delight? I've found this little bitesize ones with chocolate on the outside and they're 37cals each! Yum!

Reba767 · 16/11/2023 17:31

I correct myself - 55 cals each for the mini Turkish delights!

StarShipControl · 16/11/2023 19:44

@Reba767 it was! I did have a small piece of homemade apple cake as well so that let me down today. I also didn't manage any exercise and my step count is an embarrassing 3.7k.
I just didn't get time as I had a late 2hr meeting. Maybe I'll mop the floors tonight as they definitely need it but if I do it vigorously enough, it'll count as a workout hopefully.
Oh maybe I'll get a pair of those mopping shoes and mop the floors that way. That's got to be a workout, right?
