6 weeks until Christmas Day - who wants to lose half a stone?

Hollyhead · 13/11/2023 09:48

I have been trying to lose the same half a stone all year, I’m sick to death of it, and if I’m honest I haven’t really tried. I’m not even that bothered about the weight number being exactly half a stone, it’s 2 inches I want to loose from bum/hips/stomach.

I know what I want to do - steps, home weight workouts, some 16:8 fasting and following a set regime of the following diet choices
Breakfast - eggs &a vegetable OR yoghurt with seeds/fruit OR porridge

Lunch - salad OR homemade soup OR plant based tray bake type thing (such as lentils and roasted veg

Dinner - small version of what we’re having with veg replacing carbs where possible - so for instance instead of rice with a stir fry do an extra portion of steamed broccoli.

Anyone want to join me with any weight loss method permissible? Whether it’s vanity pounds or getting a big weight loss kickstarted let’s do this! My wardrobe is full of clothes I love that I can only just get on, I want them back 😁

Don’t know how today will go as been up since 4 with my three year old and I feel drained and hungry already

Natwestorbust · 14/11/2023 08:30

I'm in! Will post again later when I have more time

Fjorduk · 14/11/2023 08:32

Me, please! I already lift weights 3 times a week, I have 5 kg to loose (nearly a stone?). I think my main problem is that i start the day ok and then get really hungry in the evening and eat everything I see! I will skip breakfast as I'm never hungry in the morning anyway and just do 3 meals a day, no snacking. Let's see!

RidingMyBike · 14/11/2023 08:41

I was 0.5kg down this morning, so about a lb? I have mechanical rather than digital scales so it can be hard to see changes that are less than a kg.

Breakfast was porridge with blueberries. I have a packed lunch with me - couscous with mixed beans and veg. And I remembered to get lentil daal out of the freezer before leaving the house to eat when I get back tonight!

So that's good. Less good is being tempted by Costa's 'treat' for this week which means I acquired a choc chip cookie along with my coffee at the station. But my step count will be higher today than on a WFH day.

Newnamesameoldlurker · 14/11/2023 08:50

It's really motivational to read everyone's updates. I had a small healthy dinner last night and went to bed feeling hungry but no change on the scale this morning. After initially losing 30ishlbs of baby weight I've now been stuck on 162.6lbs exactly for many weeks now! It's like my body doesn't want to lose any more now I'm (barely) out of the overweight range but I want to fit back into my clothes. I've ordered a bunch of protein shakes as they were helping a lot before to manage intense breastfeeding hunger without binging. I've done IF before in the past with success but don't think I have the willpower anymore these days so fair play to you ladies who are smashing the fasting.

piscofrisco · 14/11/2023 08:56

Good morning all. Going to try not to eat until about 11 today and will have dinner earlyish so will stop eating for the day at 6.30-so a rough 16:8 fast.
My ear still feels like something is drilling through it and dh has taken my wellies to work with him in the car by mistake so a shorter dog walk will be all the exercise today.
Actually missing my swim!

StarShipControl · 14/11/2023 09:17

I'm counting today as day 1.
Fasting this morning. Ideally, I'd like to go for 20:4
What I find really helps isa fasting app. For some reason, I don't want to lose to the app so if I set a 16hr fast, I stick to it. I've done a few 18hrs too

Today is 16. Tomorrow I'll try 20.
Actually, ideally I'd like to do 1 36hr fast a week. My friend does 2 a week and has lost lots of weight without changing much else.

Not sure what I'll eat today but it will probably involve chick peas

toomanyleggings · 14/11/2023 10:12

Oh god my boss as had just sent me a huge box of chocolates. Gah!

StarShipControl · 14/11/2023 10:39

@toomanyleggings quick hide it in a cupboard. Take it out for Christmas.

Hollyhead · 14/11/2023 10:56

@toomanyleggings are they chocolates you REALLY like? Is she likely to know if you ate them? If not could you gift them to a school raffle/tombola and enjoy the sense of well-being from both bein 3000 calories down AND generous? 😂

Morning everyone, late to the party this morning!

Today I will;

• swim 25 lengths at the pool ✅
• get 10k steps in
• drink water and no fizzy pop!!
• fast 20/4 (fasting window 9pm - 5pm)

And yes I'm hurting after yesterdays dumbbell workout 😮

TakingTheHorseToFrance · 14/11/2023 13:26

So I'm back today.

I'm vowing not to let myself feel hungry because I make bad choices when I am.

I was supposed to finish my fast at 11am but ate porridge at 9am instead. Unfortunately I added a few chocolate chips into it.

Lunch is a tiny soft roll with tuna and cheese.

Aim to get 10k steps.

Hollyhead · 14/11/2023 14:13

Well done everyone @TakingTheHorseToFrance I’m the same, but a few chocolate chips must be fine if it stops other snacking. I find grated dark chocolate quite good to add to things too to give a chocolatey flavour without the calories.

my day is going pretty well had yoghurt with nuts and seeds at 10.30 because the hunger was too distracting, but that was still 14.5 hours of not eating. Then I had a 300 calorie portion of dhal for lunch, and a 3 mile walk in my lunch break.

Having work day from hell though ☹️

Weighed in at 11 stone this morning - good to see a round number and excited to almost be into the 10s.
Slipped up this afternoon though by demolishing an entire pack of nuts that I took on a long drive to stop me grabbing crisps or sweets from service stations. Delicious but an awful lot of calories.
Still, I'm sticking to my eating window and trying to do better tomorrow.

GreenMarigold · 14/11/2023 19:25

I’d like to join too please! Desperate for some accountability. I’ve definitely lost shape since having to give up running because of knee pain.

I did a gentle 15 min workout in my lunch break today and I’m going to squeeze in another one this eve.

Loseitfor2024 · 14/11/2023 20:19

Just back from bootcamp two nights in a row.

Today I have eaten well and within my calories. Only 9k steps but will get that done by bed time!

Hollyhead · 14/11/2023 20:42

Very good @Loseitfor2024 and welcome @GreenMarigold

@JofraArchersFastestBall don't beat yourself up too much - I've been meaning to listen to the Zoe podcast about foods where you don't always absorb all the calories - I think because nuts are often swallowed in small pieces, we don't actually break them down in their entirety. Plus it was a great option for your health.

I am tipping into my 'PMT week' today, I can tell as I'm craving all sorts of salty/chocolatey snacks tonight. I'm holding out so far... I'm just trying to focus on how well I've done the past two days and how pleased I'll feel if I can keep this up.

Justmeandmyself · 14/11/2023 20:46

Keep up the good work everyone!

I’ve been having the majority of my food earlier on in the day and go light from about 4ish. Seems to help me lose weight.

@SweatpantPotato I just spent a week in NYC and managed to come back the same weight. I didn’t overindulge like I normally would but I didn’t restrict myself completely and allowed myself treats. I also managed to walk between 25-30k steps a day which helped!!! And I won’t lie… I took my scales with me to keep me on track! 😊

Does everyone weigh in every morning or once a week?? I’m a daily weigher unless I know I’ve eaten way too much and then I don’t bother and leave it a few days!

RidingMyBike · 14/11/2023 20:51

Noom is keen on daily weighing but I don't tend to do that. Partly I don't like my DD seeing me weighing myself every day, so I tend to do it a couple of times a week when she isn't in the bathroom. Partly mechanical scales so it's harder to see any progress on them.

A good day today. My weight loss zone is 1600-1800 calories a day (adjusted for physical activity done during the day) and I'm just below the bottom of that. I've had three meals and two snacks so have felt like I have energy and haven't felt hungry.

NorthernSpirit · 14/11/2023 20:53

I’d like to join please!

I got married at the beginning of October (and felt fabulous) but have been ‘celebrating’ a little too much since then and put on 1/2 a stone.

I’d like to loose 8.3lb’s by Christmas (to get me back to my ‘fighting’ and into my very fitted skinny jeans)🤞

buckleten · 14/11/2023 21:09

Please can I join this thread? I am desperate to lose the last half stone, but have been hovering around this weight since summer! And I have just eaten 1000 custard creams (nearly!) so feeling really down about it..

Hollyhead · 14/11/2023 21:13

Yes welcome @buckleten and @NorthernSpirit do you have a plan of how you might go about it?

Well I am not going to replace the custard creams! I am going to try to reduce carbs a bit, cut right down on sugar except for fruit, and try harder to get my 10,000 steps in.. it's hard when it's dark and rainy in the evening..

NorthernSpirit · 14/11/2023 21:28

I lost 31lb in 18 weeks last year on slimming world, so I’m going to get myself back into good habits & follow a similar plan….

• Plan meals & cook from scratch
• Cut down on bread
• Go to the gym 5 x per week
• Give up the booze (empty calories and no late late snacking temptations because of it)

PictureFrameWindow · 14/11/2023 21:33

Me too please! I just want to get back into my trousers. So far I have resisted chocolate at the train station 👍
