8 Week Accountability

OneStone · 30/10/2023 10:25

Anyone want to do an 8 week accountability thread? It's 8 weeks today until Christmas and I'm hoping to lose a stone. That's 1.75lbs a week.
I've got 3 stone to lose in total. I'm going to skip breakfast, cut out snacks and up my steps to 10k a day (average currently 5k).

OP posts:
Clomid1 · 26/03/2024 10:22

Oh totally forgot scales ranged from 92.5 to 92.1 so I went for 92.5

Amdone123 · 26/03/2024 10:46

All sounds good !
I put out 4 x 500ml of sparkling water bottles around the house, though mainly kitchen and bedroom. Sometimes living room. I like sparkling water, it makes me feel healthy.
I had a bad day yesterday but did quite a few steps. I don't have my pedometer at work but it's at least 2.5 hours of walking up n down stairs, hoovering, mopping etc.
Scales not changed this morning.

Clomid1 · 26/03/2024 19:42

@Amdone123 that is a good idea. If I break the 3 litres to 6 bottles and put them in the main rooms I’m in, I’ll remember. i am going to try and set targets so every 4 hrs I drink 500ml?

Good news that the scale has not gone up. I have now found a sweet treat alternative that I am obsessed with 😅 dates + peanut butter + almond. It actually kicks my chocolate cravings. But I think I may have had too many 😅

Amdone123 · 26/03/2024 21:09

Ooohh, dates - don't think I've ever eaten dates.
I've done loads of walking today. My legs are killing.
Breakfast - bacon on toast. So nice.
Lunch - soup
Tea - cheese n crackers. A cream egg and crisps🥴

Not a bad day really. I'm so tired because I slept badly last night. It's usually a trigger for wine, but I've been sensible.

It all feels a bit strange with easter approaching. A bit out of sync, even though I'm doing the same as every other weekend.
We'll do our best, get Easter out of the way, then knuckle down 🤣

Amdone123 · 27/03/2024 11:17

Morning ! I've got a good day planned. The last couple of days, I've been all over the place. Last night, I shoved 5 chocolates into me gob, then had to get out of bed, brush my teeth...what a palaver 🤣.

  1. brunch and tea sorted ✅
  2. water is opened ( yesterday I just looked at it)
  3. excited about work and cleaning certain areas ( I'm so sad, but I love cleaning - and, it's all exercise). Have a great day !
Clomid1 · 28/03/2024 06:00

Sorry for going missing, have a sick newborn.
Yesterday mornings weight was between 92.1 and 92.5. I’ve stuck to 92.5. Haven’t weighed myself today. Have hardly slept so probably won’t get out of bed until midday 🙈
Monday steps : 6538
Tuesday steps >10000
Tuesday was terrible for snacking due to being in hospital with baby. We’re home now, hopefullu babys temp will go down so I don’t stress eat.

How did yesterday go for you? Did you stick to your plan?

Amdone123 · 28/03/2024 07:59

Gosh, no worries, hope the baby's temperature goes down. Just rest all you can, and do what you can.
Yes, I stuck to my plan, so all good.

suki1964 · 28/03/2024 09:00

You are going great ladies, its great to have a support net work and accountability

Ive been losing for around 10 months now and am stuck

I was doing so well until I had a city break in Edinburgh , ate what I fancied , came home and had lost 1.5 lb. That kind of opened the flood gates for me and Ive started the constant nibbling ( I work in a coffee shop, we have every tray bake and cake known to man kind and its chips with everything ) so gained quite a bit - 4 or 5 pound in two weeks , if only it came off at that rate eh?

Im kind of back on track this week so will know the damage on Saturday - I weigh just twice a week, Saturday morning going into the weekend, and Wednesday to keep an eye, but I only use the Saturday weight as my marker

I drink like a fish, and don't drink water, two glasses of squash whilst in work, one milky coffee if Ive time in the morning, and a green tea or three. Green tea is a new addition, I absolutely love it

Im great with the steps, work days its 20k plus ( I work 4 hours as a server ) and that includes a 2 mile dog walk and then I come home and do between 2 and 3 miles fast paced

Days off its running around the house getting on top of the chores - Im so not a natural with cleaning :) so not so many steps but still hit 10 to 12K

So last Saturday I was 132lb. I want to get to 124lb , the lowest I got to was 127 and since then its up and down. So can I join you?

Amdone123 · 28/03/2024 09:44

@suki1964 of course you can, and thank you for your lovely words.
So you want to lose 8lbs ? Same here.
All 3 of us are at different stages but it's great to have support. And it's good to share ideas.
I feel good overall. I look at the positives ( I scrub up well), and try to not see it as a 'diet', but making myself healthier for myself and my family ❤️

suki1964 · 28/03/2024 11:41

@Amdone123 , I too look at it as getting and staying healthy moving forward. Its the big 60 this year and I really want to be as active and fit as I can possibly be going into my later years.

Like you I tend to eat twice a day - brunch - which i fit in whilst at work so its usually HM yoghurt, fruit and oatbran, although this week, doing my utmost to stop with the picking, Ive taken in a kind of frittata - whatever Ive got in the fridge set in eggs with a wee bit of cheese and a fruit bowl of chopped fruit - its worked so far :) and then the evening meal - whatever Im cooking. I make a lot of use of the air fryer which means I can eat chips when I like ( hand cut and just a wee spray of oil ) but most evening meals are chicken or fish or turkey, salad - lots off - and some of the above mentioned chips or jacket potato. Im weird as I really dont like mash or boiled potatoes so if its a family meal that includes those I tend to just make myself something different. I used to just swap out the spuds with bread, but Ive stopped bread as that really is my weak spot, easily demolish a loaf with butter in a couple of days

Over all Ive been losing 1lb a week, just right now Im stuck and just really need motivation. I think its because I am trim enough now, I have dropped 3 sizes , so Im fitting clothes again, have energy etc. Its just Im still carrying too much body fat and my cholestrol is still higher then the GP likes , hence the 124 figure

Amdone123 · 29/03/2024 08:13

@Clomid1 how's the baby?

Went slightly off target yesterday ( 🍷), and I've just had cheese on toast, but all good.
I don't think this Easter weekend will pose any further problems 🥴, as I'm not really doing anything.

Clomid1 · 29/03/2024 09:54

@Amdone123 much much better this morning thank you.

official weigh in day, if we keep on track today we might see a nice loss tomorrow. 🤞

Was an awful snacker yesterday. Lots of stress snacking. But scales saying 91.75kg today so I am very happy. Motivated to stay on track today.

Amdone123 · 29/03/2024 10:31

That's great - about the baby and your loss.
You can do it. It's not easy, especially with all the stress you're experiencing, but you're doing really well.
( Tiredness is a terrible trigger for me - 🍷 and 🧀).

@suki1964 what are your plans today ? Are you working?

suki1964 · 29/03/2024 21:57

@Clomid1 , glad to hear baby is better. Less stress is apparently the key to weight loss ( if that was true Id be a bean pole lol )

@Amdone123 , aye was a work day today, a coffee shop/restaurant on the coast? Totally hammered. But I was so very very good. Took my yoghurt, fruit and oatmeal and then around 3pm when boredom/pissed off munchies kicked in had a cup of soup - Not one bit of cake passed my lips :)

Mind , plenty of scotch has :)

Tea was Afghan aubergines, or Egyptian Moussaka , basically a pretty dry stew of aubergines, onions, tomatoes, garlic, chillies and I also shoved in spinach and peppers, had that on a few HM wedges, really filled me to the gills so fingers crossed Ill not be snacking in the early hours

House if full of crap right now, easter eggs, cakes, biscuits, crisps - kids and grandkids here from tomorrow, then add to that the foods they like - Pizza, burgers etc, its going to be tough

Still I got a side of salmon sat in the fridge waiting me to portion it up. Looking forward to a few lighter suppers from Monday, will just have to do the best I can between now and then

Amdone123 · 30/03/2024 06:20

@suki1964 oohh love salmon. Not so keen on scotch. Your moussaka sounds lovely. Well done on your restraint at work 👏 - that must be challenging.
Not a great day yesterday but I was a tad hungover. We had fish n chips ( tradition, Good Friday), and a few treats, but no big deal.

Surprised this morning to see I'm 12st 13. Holiday is 3 weeks today, so 3 weeks to lose 6lb.
Feeling confident and positive.

House full today ( grandchildren and great nieces and nephews). So long as I don't drink, I'll be fine.

Amdone123 · 01/04/2024 18:01

Hey, how are we doing @Clomid1 @suki1964 , not the best day here, but weighing in at 12st 13 - I've been great the last 3 days. So proud really.
Today, a lovely, boozy lunch with dh. All good - it's all about balance x

Clomid1 · 02/04/2024 04:37

Hello! Gosh this easter weekend has been so busy.
@suki1964 well done on the will power to stay away from cake at work. I’d be having a slice with every cup of tea 😁😁.
Hope easter weekend wasn’t too bad for you.

@Amdone123 well done on getting to 12st 13 😁. You’ll definitely make your 6lbs loss by your holiday. Keep going.

My weights
Saturday - 92.55kg ☹️
Sunday - 91.8kg 😁
Monday - 91.2kg 😁😁😁

The problem with weighing daily is that the weight goes up and down and every “gain” hurts. I am happy though. I’ve implemented an eating window so snack a bit less. Trying to up the protein and high volume foods in my meals. Water is still a big issue but getting there.

Fingers crossed for today 😁😁😁

suki1964 · 02/04/2024 09:05

@Clomid1 , you are right, weighing daily does fluctuate wildly. I dont weigh daily, Im the kind of person that sees a pound gain ( which could just mean Ive not been to the loo, or am retaining fluids, not enough sleep etc) as a trigger to not eat. I know this about me so I dont weigh daily, just twice a week and use the Saturday morning as my target weight, the one which I hope has dropped. The Wednesday one is just a general "hmm how bad has the weekend been" look, just to see if I need to lay off the treats ( booze usually ) for the rest of the week

Yeah it can be hard around cake :) Yesterday was really hard as the pastry chef, not only made for the staff chocolate brownies smothered in mini eggs, she bought in the left overs from her egg hunt. Luckily we were just too busy so I didnt reach for them. I did pick up once or twice, but put them back. I realised I was suffering from FOMO so I took a few and dished them out to some children. And I did bring a brownie home - for DH. I cut a tiny sliver for me off it - just for quality control purpose you understand :)

@Amdone123 , Well done staying the same, so not easy at Easter. I had a 1/2 pound gain this Saturday, I also had the kids and grandkids here for easter so the house will filled with crap which isnt usually here. I did try not to go too mad and stuck to my basic meals , pizza and salad on the Saturday -avoided the chips and garlic bread, and a roast chicken dinner on Sunday but a lot of alcohol was consumed

Then yesterday was just hell on earth. Had an early shift and we were just hammered. Doors opened at 10am and we had a queue 30/40 deep for the whole four hours I was in. Had 12k steps done before I left :) Came home with my sinuses playing up, head thumping, nose dripping, and so tired and ratty. So alcohol was involved, which I was wanting to avoid the rest of the week. Still the salmon was lovely, served with salad ( and its ruddy freezing here, more stew and dumpling weather ) . But have had a poor nights sleep and still not feeling on top of things

But hey ho, its only Tuesday, onwards and upwards :)

Amdone123 · 02/04/2024 10:07

@suki1964 wow, you work in a very popular place.
I hear you regarding finding solace in alcohol. I was a teacher for 3 decades and I would say my drink problem started there ! I'm now a cleaner and drink much less 😇.
I think that's a good idea weighing in weds and Sat - I shall adopt that idea, as it seems much more sensible.
I'm hungover today. In the past I'd eat all the carbs possible but being accountable here, means I shan't go mad.

I have a very unhealthy relationship with alcohol, managed 12 years dry but slipped back into it about 10 years ago - didn't help with the weight that's for sure . Im fine if I don't pick up, if I don't take one Im not looking one.

I don't get hangovers unfortunately. If I did I wouldn't drink so much as when I did get them they were horrendous. I certainly couldn't work with a hangover. Last one I had I had to go to work for overtime, lasted about 2 hours and had to call it a day

Since trying to get the weight back down Ive knocked the wine on the head, stick with shorts with a lot of mixer - make it a tall drink

Amdone123 · 02/04/2024 10:47

@suki1964 I wish I could drink shorts. I just don't like anything but wine, prosecco and champagne!

Clomid1 · 04/04/2024 22:42

Hi Ladies, hope the healthy eating is going well.
Saturday weigh in fast approaching.
Wed - 90.6kg
Thurs - 90.75kg
pretty sure tomorrow won’t be lower than 90.6kg tomorrow. Fingers crossed for saturday.

Amdone123 · 05/04/2024 02:41

@Clomid1 hi.
Gosh, Saturday only a day away. This week has gone really fast.
I've not been great. Dh has been off so it puts me out of routine. I'm expecting 13st or 13st 1 on Saturday.
Friday today and I should really behave I.e not drink, but it's going to be hard not to.

I'm out Sunday too so Monday will be a write off, but I'm thinking I'll have 10 days to lose what I can in time for holiday.
I can do it if I put my mind to it.

Amdone123 · 06/04/2024 11:10

Morning folks @Clomid1 @suki1964 , how's tricks?
13st here, which is ok. I've not had the best week, feel like I've been all over the place, but I definitely think a week today, I'm going to be lighter.
I don't normally put a number on it ( aim wise), but I'm going to try for 3lbs this week. I'm out tomorrow, Monday will be tough ( I'll be a tad hungover), but I'll be able to have a decent 4 days after that.
Plus, I'm going shopping Wednesday for summer clothes, so that will motivate me.

suki1964 · 06/04/2024 11:55

Weighed in today and 1lb off which Im really pleased with seeing as it was Easter and I didnt say no, had a shed load of alcohol and been off work for a few days poorly

I think I am finally out of my fug of constant picking. Because I pick I skip meals, not a good idea, so Ive pulled my horns in and have started to eat properly again

Tell you what I found really hard this week - Half Price Easter goodies everywhere and I had to sail on past

Just had our Saturday morning treat, bacon and mushrooms in a nice big fat roll with rocket and tomatoes. - my take on the BLT. Sets us up for the day and tonight its Chilli Salmon Pasta, I use dairylea lights for the creamy sauce and a good dollop of sweet chilli sauce. I mix in spinach and peas and diced peppers to up the veg count for the day

So Im aiming for 2lb this coming week,

Enjoy the shopping trip@Amdone123 , I love buying clothes now :)
