8 Week Accountability

OneStone · 30/10/2023 10:25

Anyone want to do an 8 week accountability thread? It's 8 weeks today until Christmas and I'm hoping to lose a stone. That's 1.75lbs a week.
I've got 3 stone to lose in total. I'm going to skip breakfast, cut out snacks and up my steps to 10k a day (average currently 5k).

OP posts:
Clomid1 · 19/03/2024 10:04

@Amdone123 It’s clearly working for you, you’ve done amazingly and have stayed committed!
Weighed myself today : 14.5 stone
Target weight: between 8 and 9 stone

Timeline: I want to be at my target weight by the time I return to work next year
However short term goal is to get 13 stone before my holiday at the end of May. I don’t know whether that’s achievable we’ll see.

I am breastfeeding my 1.5 month old baby and my nearly 2 year old at the moment 🙈 so need to be careful regarding diet to ensure my milk does not take a hit. I think I am going to try healthy lifestyle changes:

  1. 8000 steps a day
  2. 3 litres of water a day
  3. 3 meals and 2 snacks a day
  4. Tea is once a day (I use 2 spoons of sugar plus milk and have like 6 a day!)

I will come online and update meals and progress on the targets above.
What are you doing food wise? Are you following any diets? What is your goal weight? Have you got any nice recipes you could share with me 😁(nice and quick too 😁😁)

Amdone123 · 19/03/2024 11:10

So, roughly 20lbs in 10 weeks - that's doable !
I understand what you're saying about breastfeeding ( congratulations btw) - I don't really know much about nutrition. My baby is 35 (years) !
Your plan sounds great. The steps and water have definitely helped me. I'm very active and drink a lot of water ( and wine. But that's a whole other thread 🥴).
Don't you like sweetener ? I love tea, too, but have just a drop of milk.
My diet is a bit different to yours ( obviously we're at different stages) - I only have brunch, then tea. Then say 200 cals of snacks. I'm not really a snacker.
Wine is my downfall and junk food when hungover.
Brunch I have eggs, avocado, bacon on sourdough bread. Tea is typical fare - chilli / rice, chicken fried rice ( I'm obsessed atm), salmon, etc.
My goal is 12st 7 by 20th April ( holiday) and 12st by August ( holiday) so realistic and doable.
I weigh myself on a Saturday ( most mornings actually) and I'm no longer scared of scales.
I'll help you, like I say. Just do your best. If you have a blip, move on.
You can do it ❤️💯

Clomid1 · 19/03/2024 22:56

Thank you 😊

I don’t mind sweetener so I have now made the switch.

I love my junk food too 😅 massively obsessed with kebabs and burgers throughout pregnancy. Trying not to order anything now until I lose a substantial amount of work.

Your brunch has made me want sourdough and bacon.

I will join you on the saturday weigh ins.

This is how today went:

steps - will log from Thursday (waiting for a fitbit charger)
water - rubbish I downed 1 litre at 7pm when I realised I had drank nothing. Need to sort that out tomorrow

Food
Breakfast :
1 soft pitta and 2 eggs
1 options hot chocolate with two spoons of sweetner

Snack 1:
nakd bar

Lunch:
Rice, salmon and salad

Snack 2:
Cadbury egg, Fudge (quite a big piece), strawberries (300g)

Dinner:
Pasta and salad

Not a good day of eating. Need to improve tomorrow.

Amdone123 · 20/03/2024 07:58

@Clomid1 I think that sounds like a good day. You ate a balanced diet and had some treats.
It's hard with the water - it'd be ok if you didn't have to keep nipping to the loo !

I ran out of sourdough so just had 2 boiled eggs mashed with 2 avocado and mayo. Was ok without the bread.
Small portion of chicken fried rice.
Salmon and pasta.
2 x mini bars of chocolate.

Have a lovely day. We've got 3 full days to do what we can, then Saturday, weigh in and evaluate !

Amdone123 · 20/03/2024 11:01

One of my favourite fakeaways is : cubed chicken marinated in a mix of curry paste and natural yogurt. Grill then stick in a pita with salad, coleslaw mix. Dressing I mix natural yogurt and mint sauce.
You could make a big bowl of it ( when you've got a minute or 2), and keep in the fridge.

Clomid1 · 20/03/2024 12:17

That sounds so nice! What curry paste are you using?

Amdone123 · 20/03/2024 12:53

I use any paste, brand or shop's own. It's simple and tasty.
I also make chilli once a week, and use lots of pulses ( those beanz tins) - I freeze a lot of it. It's cheap and healthy.
And with leftover rice, I love fried rice. Any meat, veg, shove the rice in, soy sauce. Very quick and filling.

Clomid1 · 20/03/2024 21:28

I am going to try this. Do you make you own coleslaw or do you buy it

ok so eating wise was pretty bad:

Breakfast: an english muffin stuffed with salmon and cream cheese and a glass of horlicks with sweetner (toddler had some of this meal off my plate)

Lunch: Prawn fried rice and spinach

Dinner: lamb mine pasta and a side salad

Snacks🙈: small pot of greek style yoghurt, one cadbury oreo egg😅, 3x fudge, a crisp packet, grapes

Water: 2 litres ( This is better but 1.5 litres of that was drunk after 6pm I think if I spread it out a bit I’d snack less)

steps: charger has arrived 😁 so from tomorrow. I did a walk/run with my toddler in the push chair

Clomid1 · 21/03/2024 00:09

Add another half of a cadbury oreo egg 🙈. Midnight breastfeeding snack

Amdone123 · 21/03/2024 01:37

I think you eat really healthily. Your snacks aren't that bad either.
Just keep going. We can only do our best !
I make my own coleslaw as I prefer it and I do like veg (grated carrot, red cabbage, mayo), but it's time consuming and it ends up all over. The bags are good - ready made ones.
I had brunch - a jacket potato cut into wedges, cheese and beans.
A small Greek salad and about 8pm ( unusual for me to eat late) - a small cheese roll, quavers and a kit kat.
I'm feeling a bit fluey - cold, sore throat so it's all a bit haywire.

Clomid1 · 22/03/2024 01:09

Oh what a nightmare day today was ☹️

breakfast - my toddlers leftover overnight oats (she ate half the bowl and I didn’t want to waste it so I had the rest) 😅 plus an english muffin with chicken and cheese

Lunch - leftover pasta and cheese

Dinner - rice and chicken curry

snacks - 3 bags of snowball chocolate (each bag is 388 calories). I could honestly cry I don’t know why I binged so much

steps - fitbit charger arrived but doesn’t work 🙈 have ordered a replacement

water - 2.25litres (getting better on this front)

Really upset with myself. I feel like I am never going to get there.

Clomid1 · 22/03/2024 01:11

I have downloaded an app to do daily weigh ins. Hopefully it will keep me motivated

Amdone123 · 22/03/2024 01:21

Aaahh, don't be dispirited - you're doing a great job looking after your little ones. Plus, you've made a start here - it can only get better, not worse.
Don't be upset with yourself - that's an order !
I had a bad day 🤣. A portion of chilli and a packet of rice, 1 bottle of wine and 3 beers - now, that is bad !
Presently sat in bed with an ageing, restless pomeranian who only sleeps once I'm up 🥴 - he's like a bloody baby, so I feel your pain.
We'll keep on.
At least we're trying - it's better than ignoring it.
You said I was consistent and you're right - I haven't lost loads, but it's better than giving up. We only find ourselves back at square one.

Clomid1 · 23/03/2024 02:00

@Amdone123 thank you for trying to keep me
motivated. It’s so depressing being overweight. Also very concerned I will die young if I don’t sort myself out and then there would be no one for my kids.

I had a really good day:
breakfast: English muffin with peanut butter
Lunch : vegetable curry plus 50g of rice plus a small pitta
Dinner : left over veg curry from lunch plus a 2 lentil pancakes
snacks : 3/4 nakd bar (toddler ate 1/4), barny cake bar (raiding my toddlers treats now as they are healthier), 1 babybel plus 2 thin breadsticks
water: 750ml (terrible water day)
exercise : couch 2 5k
steps : 4291 (I’ve had to order another fitbit charger because the one that came yesterday did not work)

Much happier today after I had a really good cry.
Weigh in tomorrow good luck 😃

Clomid1 · 23/03/2024 06:43

Current weight : 92.6kg ( had to change my scales because my toddler stamped on and broke the other one). These electric ones gave me two readings 93.2 and 92.6 😂. I am going to choose the smaller one because it makes me feel better 😂

Amdone123 · 23/03/2024 07:38

🤣🤣
Well, you've had a good start. You're sorted with your scales, so you'll be able to track better.
Scales are weird sometimes. Last week I was 12st 11. Today 13st. I can't have put 3lb on, but I suppose it's possible !
Anyway, I'm good with that. I'm still trying, still motivated.
Holiday 4 weeks today so I'll try a bit harder.
Easter won't really affect me - we'll just do what we normally do, so all good.

Clomid1 · 23/03/2024 19:33

@Amdone123 i hate it when the scales flactuate after working hard too.
we can do it 💪 I have until February next year to get to my final target weight of between 55kg and 60kg.

ooo nice is the holiday a beach holiday? Anything nice?

Easter affects me because the kids are too young for easter eggs so anything people buy them, I have 😁😁😁🙈🙈🙈

Amdone123 · 23/03/2024 21:07

Yes, it's a beach holiday in Spain. Just me and my sister, 5 nights. We'll just read, sunbathe, eat out, drink and be in bed for 9pm !
She doesn't like walking so I'll do that early morning as I hate staying in bed and I'm up with the lark.
Hope you've had a good day. I've been ok, going food shopping tomorrow to get some bits to keep me on the straight n narrow 🤣

Clomid1 · 24/03/2024 08:22

@Amdone123
sounds like my kind of holiday. I‘ve never been one for late nights. We went to mallorca in September and thats exactly what our holiday was like 😃. Not much sunbathing with the toddler but a bit 😅

I find with food shops I always buy myself “healthy snacks” and then end up “tasting” them all in one day 😂 so I am awful with food shops 😂. Now I go with a least and try not to venture into the chocolate/biscuits aisles.

i got some coleslaw mix, chicken and curry paste like you recommended. I also got some stir fry meal deal (veg + noodles + sauce).

Fitbit is now fully charged and working.

I forgot to put my meals from yesterday. I think meals were fine. My issue is still the snacking and I think its because I eat some of my toddlers leftovers 😅

  1. two little 82 calories fibre one bars
  2. greek yoghurt
  3. a little bit of jelly from my toddler
  4. a kind bar (these are so moreish and probably not as healthy as I’d like to believe)
  5. a full box of strawberries
  6. a handful of grapes

Weigh in : 92.8kg

so todays aim is only 3 snacks and up the water. Lets see how I do 😁😁😁

Amdone123 · 24/03/2024 11:17

That's great though that you recognise your downfall and have set a new target.
I lay on the couch all day yesterday eating kit kats ( well, 2), and this morning I appear to have lost a pound.
I think my scales are broken 🤣

Clomid1 · 25/03/2024 08:14

@Amdone123 ah well done on the loss! Kit kats I find aren’t too bad in calories. i just eat way too many 😂

snacks quite bad yesterday : 1 blueberry muffin low calorie bar, 1 kind bar, some grapes, an orange, 2 dates, 2 almonds, a soreen bar, 2 teas with sweetner and milk.

weigh in : ok scales fluctuated massively today I had readings ranging from 93 to 92 so not sure what to do there. I got 93.1 , 93, 92.8, 92.1, 92.1, 92, 92.1 😂. I’ll just go for 92.8. 😅

Amdone123 · 25/03/2024 08:35

Mad, aren't they ? I know people who weigh every day then take the average 🤣.
I drank yesterday - oops. Didn't eat much but the wrong things really. Well, brunch was pizza, garlic bread and onion rings. Tea very healthy : chicken kebabs, rice and salad. No sweet stuff yesterday, that'll be because I drank. I can't win here !
Even though Easter weekend is the same as any other for me, I suppose I will eat out / drink more, so I'm going to knuckle down the next 4 days. Got my 2litre waters, I'm working so exercise ✅, I won't drink til Friday.
Then, after Easter, I've got 3 weeks til I go away, so I'll really be trying to lose 6lbs.

Clomid1 · 25/03/2024 10:09

It’s really miserable when you eat out and look for the healthier options right. I like to look at the menu before hand work out the calories then go so I have an idea of what I am about to do to myself. 😂

are you not a big fan of easter chocolate. If anyone gets the kids easter eggs it will be in my belly 😂. By the way I bought some Barny bars for my nearly two year old as a treat once a week and honestly its really nice. It’s only 97 calories so urmmm yh going to become my new favourite snack 😁

Amdone123 · 25/03/2024 10:44

I'm not really a lover of chocolate. Cheese is my weakness.
Do you know I've lost weight very slowly but I haven't deprived myself of anything. It sounds strange but I've had what I've wanted - it hasn't felt like a 'diet'.
I think I should try harder sometimes but then that approach has always made me miserable, though I don't mind a 2 week strictish plan say, before my holiday.
And eating out - which we do once a week - I've had what I want.
I definitely balance it though. That's why I've lost some weight.

Clomid1 · 26/03/2024 10:04

Ooo I do love cheese too 😂. If its working for you definitely don’t change it. I think you have more self control then I do. If I had what I wanted, I’d be gaining a ridiculous amounts because I eat even if I am not hungry.

steps for yesterday 7012 (very impressed with that. Just need to get 1k more in)
water : i hardly drank any. Any tips. I feel like this will sort out my snacking and in general just help me lose weight.

I now chew gum so that I snack less.
