Hi all,

Ive been one of the unfortunate ones for very slow losses- half a stone down since January and this week I started the 2.4mg dose but I have been absolutely struck by side effects.
it is super strange as up until 1.7mg I barely had any - slight feelings of sickness that just passed pretty quickly but I have been bed bound vomiting on the 2.4mg the past two days I can’t do anything it’s like the worst stomach bug of my life.
Does anyone know where I can get additional needles which fit the wegovy pen and what spec I’d need so I can split the dosage and does anyone know how many clicks would be 1.7mg on a 2.4mg pen, I am gutted as I was hoping to see better results on 2.4mg but my body cannot tolerate it at all; I’m praying the feeling passes I’ve never felt this ill before since I had HG while I was pregnant!

Bear in mind if you have got a stomach bug it will be worse as you're slowing down your digestion. I wouldn't assume this is wegovy.

You can get extra needles on Amazon or from where you get your pens

I probably worded that badly, I haven’t got a stomach bug it’s definitely the jab as it started about an hour after I took it and keep getting the really bad sulphur burps with it

I'm 2 pds away from a 3 stone loss from November to now.
I want another half stone, then maintenance. I'm really worried about coming off it as I can't keep up £279 a month indefinitely.
On 3rd month of 2.4ml, good thing is nausea has abated and constipation has settled down.
My plan is to continue to track using Nutracheck, continue with exercise and try to keep the good habits and portion control going.

Sorry to hear you're having such a rough time! I use these needles: https://www.chemist-4-u.com/glucorx-finepoint-needles-32g-4mm-pack-of-100

The pen doesn't split evenly into 1.7 but it divides into six lots of 1.6. I personally find that the appetite suppression doesn't last a full week so instead of injecting the full amount every 7 days, I do 1.6 every 5 days.

1.6 is 50 clicks of a 2.4 pen. (1.6 = 66.6% of 2.4, and the full 2.4 dose is 75 clicks. 66.6% of 75 = 50).

@Mookie81 What a great result, congrats! And I'm glad to hear the side effects are easing off for you. I have used Nutracheck on and off for years, and it's what I have been using since I started Wegovy, too. I personally think it's the best calorie tracker available and worth every penny to have a proper UK-centric database. I realise I sound like I work for them but I promise I'm just a fan 😅

-------------------

We got back from Japan a week ago but today is the first day back at work for both me and DH. The holiday was amazing and everything I'd hoped for, though we both caught covid just before we came home. Not how I wanted to spend my last few days off work!

Wegovy-wise, I took a full dose a couple of days before we flew out and between the medication and the hot weather, I could only manage one meal a day. I actually felt pretty sorry for DH because he's a real foodie and if I wanted to preserve my appetite for a specific meal, I had to forgo a lot of the snacks we saw while out and about. I cut back to half a dose at the start of the second week and that gave me back some hunger, though I still got full quite quickly.

The day we left I was 10st 3.2 (143.2lbs) and I was 10st 5 (145lbs) when we got home, which I couldn't believe. I wasn't consciously limiting my intake and when I was hungry, I ate and drank whatever I wanted. I mean, we walked about 20,000 steps a day but there's only so much that can balance out!

For the past six months I have eaten an average of 1200kcal a day and I had always planned to start increasing that toward maintenance calories when I got back from the holiday. However, the increase in food seems to have shaken up my metabolism because I have dropped to 9st 13.4 (139.4lbs) in the last week 😳 I'm now only 8lbs from goal but I want to slow that right down to make the transition to maintenance less of a jump.

Tindrum · 05/06/2024 20:33

Loving that for you @amusedbush that’s a whooosh and a half - epic! Very jealous of Japan trip! I had stalled for about a month then this week upped my protein by adding a protein shake for breakfast and chewaffle for lunch and lost 2lbs in a couple of days and improved my fat/muscle ratio. Defo eating more calories but changing things up had a positive effect.

justsaxy · 05/06/2024 20:58

@amusedbush that's brilliant! Well done

Does anyone gag terribly when brushing their teeth?

Does anyone gag terribly when brushing their teeth?

Yes!! And once I gag that's pretty much it, I'll vomit. Only happened to me once I moved up to 1.7 but I've been on that for months and still happens

amusedbush · 22/06/2024 11:02

Mookie81 · 21/06/2024 19:24

Does anyone gag terribly when brushing their teeth?

Yes but that is a pre-existing issue because brushing my teeth is a sensory hellscape 🤮

For me, it only happens when the foam gets too close to my throat so I take a very small amount of toothpaste and brush one section of my mouth at a time. Rinse, add a little bit more, brush a different part. If I brush them in the normal way, the toothpaste starts to taste weird but by doing it my way, it keeps the minty flavour and the foam doesn't get out of control.

Edited: fixed typo

Hi all, I just went up to the 0.5 dose. I've found it not as good as when I had Ozempic last year, but that doesn't seem to be around anymore. Sad

Did any of you not have much luck on 0.25? I was less hungry but I don't have to be hungry to eat or have cravings. Grin I put on some if anything probably. I did find a couple of bad habits fell away.

But I started on 0.5 yesterday and I actually forgot about food this evening. That never happens. Smile

Do we need a new thread?

Wegovy and Ozempic are exactly the same drug molecule sold under two different brand names.

Ah ok. It's definitely not as good IMHO. Maybe it's psychosomatic because I liked the other one so feel like this is second best lol. I barely lost weight or maybe gained on the Wegovy. I'll keep trying to remind myself it's the same lol, thanks!

I agree that I’ve had to get up to 1mg of wegovy before I’ve begun to feel the benefits, but felt it straight away with Ozempic. I feel less side effects on wegovy which I weirdly miss. I couldn’t touch alcohol on Ozempic, which was just so good for my health.

Yep I think I only needed the 0.25 of ozempic to lose what I wanted. On the wegovy I felt full but it didn't stop me. Smile
Went up to 0.5 on Thursday and it has seemed easier not to overeat/to eat less.

ImPunbelievable · 26/06/2024 09:02

Wegovy is so weird. I took 1.5 10 days ago as my new pen hasn't arrived. I then decided to use up my old pen last night to tide me over, but it only had 0.2 in it.

But today my body is acting like it's had a full dose down to the nausea.

claire337 · 01/08/2024 08:14

hi started on 0.25 on tuesday still having hungry pain ? help does that mean wegovy won’t work for me ?

Mecheng2 · 01/08/2024 12:27

It’s different for each person, I personally felt nauseous and was still hungry, I think it was around week 3 that I started to be less hungry and felt full quickly, I continued to want food - not because I was hungry but due to habit and sugar cravings. I used the opportunity of feeling less hungry to focus on eating healthy and interesting options and no longer crave sugar. It may be a slow journey- but I feel great now

claire337 · 06/08/2024 08:10

so i weighed myself and no weight loss , all week have felt so tired and an continuous headache , will this pass ? x

It will definitely pass, I promise. Fatigue is a really common side effect - one of the few I had in the early days. Especially on 0.5mg; I would take a dose on Friday and then just sleep all weekend.

For your headache, (in a move that will surprise no-one on this thread 😂) I can't recommend electrolytes highly enough. They're so, so important but often overlooked. I had horrible headaches when I started Wegovy so I drank more water but that was actually just diluting my electrolytes even further, so I felt worse.

I use these ones from Amazon pretty much daily and they're great. I genuinely feel better within minutes after taking one.

P.S. A word of warning: the tablets aren't coated and they taste salty on your tongue, so be prepared for that. Chuck it to the back of your mouth and immediately take a big drink!
