It isn't painful. The needle is so small that you don't really feel it go in. You can inject in your tummy, thighs or arm. I found the stomach easier as I have more fat there.

EweCee · 05/10/2023 12:00

Thanks @Bivarb! Thats good to know. I also have more fat on my tummy.... so tomorrow is my starting day then!

Edinburgal · 05/10/2023 18:47

Iv just ordered my first 0.25 pen. Never tried anything before. Sorry if this sounds stupid but do i need to go on a diet, it says to avoud fatty and sugary food. Will they make me feel sick. My issue is snacking. I need something to make me feel sick if a eat a buscuit etc then hopefully il stop.

Geggs · 05/10/2023 19:35

@Edinburgal your hunger will reduce, you’ll feel fuller for longer and “food noise” (the constantly thinking about what you’ll eat next) will reduce/disappear. You may feel nauseous, you may go off certain foods.
Personally I haven’t went off foods or stopped snacking completely. I’m just rarely hungry and can only stomach small portions.

it’s recommended that you increase the protein in your diet and generally try to eat healthier, so that you’re building good habits. It will also help with weight loss.

Edinburgal · 05/10/2023 20:50

Thanks @Geggs was snacking a problem for you? That's good to hear about the food noise as think thats what drives me to snack.

Definately going to try and eat healthier too. Id say my meals probably arent too bad its just portions too big and the snacking. Also fizzy drinks il need to cut back on.

How long have you been on it and how much have you lost?

FattyPattyBumBum · 08/10/2023 12:51

I've just been approved for this. Am due to pick it up from local chemists soon. I did Saxenda a year or so ago for about 2 weeks, didn't like injecting myself daily, but my main concern was that it was off the internet with no links to local chemist or gp, so have changed that as it just made me feel uncomfortable.
Approaching 50, peri and having put on 4 st in 4 years has made my confidence dive which then means I fail to look after myself in all aspects am hoping losing some weight will make me feel confident to be able to socialise and be more active like I used to be.
All my friends are slim, they probably don't think anything of my weight when they are with me, but it bothers me because I then stand out.
Hoping this kick-starts changes.

Edinburgal · 08/10/2023 16:15

@FattyPattyBumBum i recognise all your feelings, i feel much the same. I hope i can get used to eating less and take good habits with me long after i finish the jabs. Like you, i wasnt comfortable using a random site. Asda pharmacy was the cheapest i found but i went with boots as it was the only one that would take me on as a new patient.

FattyPattyBumBum · 08/10/2023 16:50

@Edinburgal I'm with boots too. I think it almost works out the same because of the 10% off subsequent orders. How are you finding it? My main thing is not portion size, it's snacking on cakes/biscuits/sweets when bored or stressed and I know when I break that habit the weight loss should happen.

Edinburgal · 08/10/2023 18:20

@FattyPattyBumBum portion size at evening meal and snacking in the evening are my downfalls. Also fizzy drinks. I hope it makes me feel sick to have fizzy drinks and that will help me break the habit. Iv not started yet. I went to collect on Friday but my local pharmacy was out of stock so iv to go back tomorrow and my order should have been posted to them. Have you started yet? I saw on another thread someone mentioned they look the jab at night and never had any side effects so im going to do that too.

TryAgainWithFeeling · 08/10/2023 21:01

First dose this evening! Feeling a little scared and a lot hopeful. God I want this to work, I was strongly considering bariatric surgery this summer, I’m hoping this means I can get down to a reasonable weight and not have to still consider the surgery.

FattyPattyBumBum · 08/10/2023 21:08

Good luck @TryAgainWithFeeling let us know how you get on.
@Edinburgal no not started, waiting to get it from store too. They've taken the cash though, so shouldn't be long after you start though.

LolaLopez78 · 08/10/2023 23:48

@Edinburgal Did Boots take you on as a brand new patient for Wegovy ie you weren’t on Saxenda before? I just looked at their page and it says that supplies are for existing Saxenda patients - hoping they have enough supplies for brand new patients now 🤞🏼

Edinburgal · 09/10/2023 00:07

@TryAgainWithFeeling good luck. Have you felt any side affects yet? Did you inject into your stomach?

@LolaLopez78 yes, i tried 2 weeks ago and got rejected but they said keep a look out as stock levels keep changing and then last week i tried again. I just checked on the boots site and wegovy is definitely still available to new patients.

Thanks, I’m sure when I looked before it said on the main page it was for existing customers only - it doesn’t say that anymore but I just registered and now it’s only when you get a bit deeper in it says it’s for Saxenda users… screenshot below

Will give it a go tomorrow as it said something about orders being taken 8am-6pm 🤞🏼

Edinburgal · 09/10/2023 10:01

@LolaLopez78 sorry about that, i didnt see that. Keep checking though. I had a quick look every day and one day the banner saying 'only for existing boots doctor patients' was gone

Bivarb · 09/10/2023 11:09

I weighed myself today and that's 6lbs gone in 2 weeks. Quite pleased with that! How's everyone getting on?

whenlifegivesyou · 09/10/2023 11:28

I've only lost one pound in a week :/

Tailfeather · 09/10/2023 15:50

How are you all feeling? How long does it take for the side effects to kick in after the first jab? I start on Sunday.

EweCee · 09/10/2023 15:55

I started on Friday and have lost 3.5 pounds so far (but maybe coincidence/ time of day weighed as that’s quick!). Have felt mildly nauseous all the time and had headache which then turned to migraine yesterday - but I usually get migraines in a October for some reason so don’t think it’s linked to the wegovy.

ClaribelLowLieth · 09/10/2023 15:59

I've just ordered Wegovy for the first time too - feeling sad for some reason.

Maybe because it doesn't feel like a healthy solution?

Tailfeather · 09/10/2023 19:19

When I was pregnant I had gestational diabetes and was put on metformin that made me feel mildly nauseous. I'm hoping it's a similar feeling and not enough to make life difficult. Bit scared of the first jab though!

Ashwater · 09/10/2023 22:02

Hi all

I hope you don’t mind me joining. I started on wegovy today. I used saxenda earlier this year and lost 2 and a half stone. Stock shortages meant I haven’t been able to get hold of it for 3 months now and I’ve put half a stone back on. I have 1 and half stone to goal. Good luck everyone

Tailfeather · 09/10/2023 22:07

Hi @Ashwater ! I'd love to hear what differences you find once you've been on Wegovy for a while. Hope it works well with minimal side effects!

Edinburgal · 09/10/2023 22:35

@Ashwater welcome! How did you feel when you came of saxenda? Did you appetite come back with a vengeance?

I collected my wegovy earlier today so will do my 1st jab before i go to bed!!

Disappointedsofa · 09/10/2023 22:54

I've been on 0.25 mg of Wegovy for almost 2 weeks now and have lost half a stone so I'm really pleased. It was mainly the nausea that has stopped me eating but now it's wearing off and I can feel myself getting hungry again.
I've 2 weeks left of this pen and then I think I will need to move to the 0.5mg dosage as I can feel my body is getting used to the 0.25mg dose.
