Hi all, I've started Wegovy today, I have one pen with 4 separate needles (one for each week), I was supposed to count until 6 but the liquid/grey line wasn't moving so I counted twice! Hopefully this doesn't count as a double dose 😅Anyone else using this kind of pen? I'd prefer to have one pen (with a single does) each week. Anyone else starting this week? :)
This is my first time using medication for weightless.

That's the only kind of pen there is afaik.

You turned the dose counter first I assume so that you injected till it the clicking stopped then counted to 6? You didn't just put it in and count to 6?

The instructions said press until you reach dose 0.25. Then insert needle and press for 6 seconds… i didn’t hear any click… hope I haven’t wasted a dose 🤦‍♀️

You have misread the instructions. Twist until you reach 0.25. Insert the needle. Press until it reaches 0 and continuing pressing for 6 seconds before removing the needle.

@amusedbush Thanks for that video, it made a lot of sense and I found it quite reassuring. Well done on your milestone!! 😄

@Mecheng2 I know what you mean about still feeling the urge to eat out of habit. For me, it's much easier to override now and think logically "am I actually hungry?" - "Yes" - have a banana, "No" - go off and do some knitting or something instead. Before, I had very little capacity to resist the urge.

@Sharpster84 Well done on your losses so far! I feel exhausted all the time anyway as I have an underactive thyroid - I'm actually hoping that my thyroxine dose will increase relative to my weight the lighter I get (if that makes sense), and actually have more effect on me 😕(Dr won't increase my dose because my levels are 'normal' 🙄)

Pleased with a 3.5lb loss this week after just 0.5 last week - that's 12lb in 6 weeks. I was getting ready to go out with a friend yesterday and as I was turning my head this way and that to dry my hair in the mirror I could really see the difference in my face. I have quite a round face anyway so it's nice seeing a bit of definition and cheekbones, I just hope it doesn't go too far and make me look all sunken.

I do wonder whether friends might suspect I'm using wegovy if my weightloss is quick and consistent, after yo-yo-ing for so long. I'm keeping it a secret as my friends fall into one of two camps: naturally thin and wouldn't understand about food addiction, or bigger but very body-positive about it, so that I'd feel ashamed for wanting to lose weight in the first place. I'm trying to pass it off as a stressful period in my life ending and the weight coming off naturally, combined with wanting to get fit for an event. But I do wonder if it would occur to others to suspect anything. I say all this as though anyone has noticed and no-one has so far! I'm tall though so it's probably not as noticeable on me, but once the weather warms up and I take my jumper off I think it'll be obvious. Sorry I'm rambling, I like having this outlet though!

If you didn't twist the end of the pen until you saw 0.25 in the window, no medication will have come out so you'll need to try again using @AhBiscuits's instructions. If you haven't already, make sure you complete the steps to test the flow of the pen before giving yourself the dose. To do that, twist the end of the pen to the symbol with two dots and then press the button. You should see a tiny bit of liquid at the end of the needle. If you don't see liquid, repeat the step. If you still don't see liquid, the pen is faulty.

Because you've already used one of the needles, you'll need use a fresh one and buy spares for future - I posted a link upthread to the spares I bought.

Thanks, I'll look for your link for the spares as they'd definitely come in handy! I did twist and do the check, I just saw the liquid come down only a tiny bit... I have to say that during the day I had no hunger whatsoever and I bought some of my favourite food and 'sadly' could only eat 2-3 bites. That might be psychological though! 😅I will now wait until next Sunday to try again as I am not sure effectively if I took a dose or not. I am really feeling less hunger so for that reason I'll wait. Thanks for the advice.

I haven't contributed to this thread for a while but thought I should check in again.
Week 17 for me (although didn't take for 3 weeks over Christmas) and 40lbs/18kgs down. Checked today and am now well in the Overweight BMI category, not Obese!
Wegovy was working brilliantly for me pre Christmas - I combined it with 1200 calories a day and the weight dropped off, full appetite suppression although some (manageable) side effects - so worth it! Was down 16kgs by Christmas.

Away over Christmas for 10days and couldn't take 2 8njections and got ill coming back, so missed another week. Decided to stay on 1mg for another month because of this but didn't have the same effect anymore which was concerning. I wasn't calorie counting either though and so 'only' lost another 2kgs in the last 5 weeks. However, towards the end I started to get some appetite suppression again.
I took my first 1.7mg dose over the weekend - and bingo, appetite suppression back, yay!
And people have really noticed the weight loss now, more importantly, I feel great and am fitting into my old wardrobe again - not everything, but a lot 😁
So size 14 now, want to get to my 10/12 but will be very happy woth another 10kgs off and a size 12!! Onwards and upwards. (But not on 1200 calories a day as it worked but don't have time now to track!)

Striving4Better · 12/02/2024 19:43

I have been completely exhausted. Most nights I sleep, but I'm still like a zombie in the morning. The exhaustion feels like it's seeped into the core of my being.

There is a strong possibility that Wegovy is not to blame. I remember non-Wegovy exhaustion last year after my job changed. So this could just be job stress manifesting itself. I am, after all, only on 0.25.

I took my latest shot on Sunday as planned. Only afterwards did I consider taking a break from it to assess what's causing my fatigue. Having said that, I actually felt better today after going for a walk in the countryside followed by 10mins in the jacuzzi at the gym.

Progress-wise, I'm pleased to report a 2lb loss after my forth week. I've hit the half stone down marker, which gives me a happy glow. I'm feeling thinner, my face looks slimmer and my dresses are a bit baggy. Some of this will be due to reduced bloating, I think, as I've been eating keto in order to reduce inflammation which was picked up in a recent blood test (something I couldn't stick to pre-Wegovy).

Despite now being into Week 5, I'm still on 0.25, as the weight is coming down. I'm a little concerned that GLP-1 causes the pancreas to make more insulin and, if I'm on keto, maybe that's not such a great idea. I can't find much information on this. I looked up Keto+GLP-1 (or semaglutide/wegovy/ozempic) and found a website which said they were the perfect companion - but then the website also had an article which recommended complex carbs on these injections, so not that reliable.

Meanwhile, I've added magnesium glycinate supplements to my regime, as magensium is supposed to help with sleep and the glycinate form is less likely to cause diarrhoea. I'll assess everything during the week, although more countryside walks and jacuzzis may be what I need.

MissConductUS · 12/02/2024 21:24

Could your exhaustion be due to low blood sugar from not eating enough, @Striving4Better? I sometimes have to make myself eat something just to keep that from happening.

Striving4Better · 12/02/2024 21:30

@MissConductUS I have thought of that, although I looked up the symptoms of low blood sugar and they include lots of things I don't experience. I also don't feel better after eating, for example, a breakfast of blueberries, yogurt and nuts (there's obviously fruit sugar in the berries).

I can't completely rule it out, though, especially as the injections were originally developed to keep blood sugar down in diabetics. Where exactly that leaves me, I'm not sure.

beaucats · 12/02/2024 23:18

Last week was my first week, I lost 3lbs which I'm pleased with.
I took my second 0.25mg dose on Friday. I wasn't sure it was working because I couldn't stop eating or snacking the day after!

Thankfully it's definitely kicked in now. Not thinking too much about food, and when I do, I'm not overly interested in eating it. Side effects in full force again but nausea is a lot less than the first week thank God.

SofieM0 · 13/02/2024 07:35

Zero loss for me this week and I knew it.
Effects wearing off quicker and food noise and cravings on the last 3 days are a lot.
i still have this week and another 4 weeks of 1.7 - when I had to order I decided not to go up to 2.4mg. So need to make a better effort myself with willpower and exercise over the next month!

week 17 = 30lb loss in total

amusedbush · 13/02/2024 09:42

@Striving4Better

I have been taking magnesium glycinate for a few months and I like it. I initially got it to help my god-awful sleep but I find that it also helps my digestion.

Also, don't worry if you decide you can't continue with keto. I'm autistic and have ARFID so my diet is largely ready-made and beige but I have still lost almost 90lbs (50lbs pre-Wegovy). I also have chronic inflammation due to a connective tissue disorder.

I haven't had bloods done recently but I can tell you without doubt that my inflammation has reduced because I'm using my walking stick far less. That's not just a by-product of losing weight either; I was around this weight in 2017 and that was the first time I considered buying a walking stick because I was struggling so much with joint pain.

There is a recent study in The Lancet that found a link between semaglutide and reduced CRP, which suggests the medication has an anti-inflammatory property. You might find that your inflammation is sorted by Wegovy without needing to cut out carbs 😊

PurpleFlower1983 · 13/02/2024 10:18

I’m on second week of 1.0, first week on this dose was a 3lb loss, scales haven’t moved this week yet and I’m definitely in significant deficit. Constipation is bad though! 🙈

Striving4Better · 13/02/2024 19:07

@amusedbush It's so great to here how you are improving.

Yes, it was a raised CRP level that I had. I'm sure due to bad diet, being overweight and sedentary lifestyle. I'm addressing all those things now.

I'm hoping for good things from the magnesium. It's encouraging to hear it's helping you.

Meanwhile, I'd like to stick to the low carb as I think it's something which will help me keep the weight off when I come off semaglutide. At the moment, I think it's working and I kinda like it.

I managed a swim today and don't feel exhausted.

Hi, I’m joining in as I’ve just started Wegovy (day 4 today). Not wowed by it yet but appreciate it is early days. I am still tempted to overeat but not quite so food obsessed as before. Jealous of those of you who lost lots of weight from the get go! Luckily no side effects yet though.

Well quite.. just meant that I’m obviously not going to lose weight this week, and possibly not at all whilst on .25.

I get it. There are so many accounts online from "super responders" who feel full within hours of the first injection and it's easy to hang your hopes on that when you start.

If you search my username in this thread, you'll see I'm probably the least sensitive/responsive to the medication here so it might give you an idea of what to expect. I lost weight from the get-go but only because I white-knuckled through a calorie deficit for weeks until I finally felt proper appetite suppression on 1mg.

I'm going on my lifelong dream holiday in May and I started Wegovy in November so I didn't have time to wait for the higher doses to kick in; I just had to be hungry and angry while trusting that it would ease off soon 😅

amusedbush · 14/02/2024 09:16

@Striving4Better

I understand - my DH eats low carb most of the time, both for weight control and because he generally feels better for it. I just meant to reassure you in case somewhere down the line you found that low carb wasn't mixing well with Wegovy.

I'm glad to hear the fatigue is easing!

@CoolShoeshine - my weight loss feels like it is very slow. I think I lost less than 1lb in my first week, but it has continued through my first month and the most important thing I find is that the medication (I am on Mounjaro) is much better than just willpower alone. Slow but steady! Keep it up!

SW: 201.8 (12 Jan)
CW: 195.4

Started my new dose on Friday night, and was nauseous on Saturday. Also struggled to sleep. Could not have anything except tea until mid afternoon. It has settled down over the week, but I am definitely feeling effects more.

I am trying to train myself to not eat just because it is meal or snack time, but to recognize when I am hungry and also to stop as soon as I feel it is enough. That is going to be so hard - so much of my eating is obviously about habits.

Had my first check up with my Dr today, just a month down. My blood pressure had gone down significantly- which is amazing. Probably my lowest in 10 years. She is very happy with where I am and has already said I can go to next dose at end of 4 weeks if I still feel good. Will be doing an A1C test again in April, to see if it has started to have an effect on my blood glucose levels, as I was so high in January.

It'd love to try it, but I fear the warnings about it causing pancreatitis (my dad died of pancreatic cancer), and also that it can cause your bowels to slow down so much you might risk a bowel obstruction.

Has anyone had a supplier talk about those risks and their likelihood?

Has anyone had a supplier talk about those risks and their likelihood?

I have had a quick look and there are a few peer-reviewed studies on the topic. The gist is that the most serious side effects were found in rodent studies and there is no evidence of the same risks in humans. There appears to be a slightly increased risk of pancreatitis in diabetic patients but nothing I can see on non-diabetics. It also causes acute pancreatitis rather than chronic, so it can be treated fairly quickly if it did happen.

A bowel obstruction can be avoided by proactively keeping your bowels moving. Avoid medications that can constipate you, drink plenty of water and don't eat too much fibre. Also, you can safely take a low dose of Movicol or similar every day to keep everything moving.

The slowed digestion can also increase the risk of gastroparesis (paralysis of the stomach) but, again, this can be mitigated. Avoid foods that are really fiberous or tough to break down (I've never been able to eat beef without discomfort but now it's a no-go), try taking digestive enzymes with food, don't eat late in the evening (your digestive system slows down even further at night), and wait an hour after eating before lying down.

Sorry that's so long but I hope it's helpful.

FlopFlaps · 15/02/2024 11:00

Has anyone had an email to say juniper are reducing the price? So happy! It's going back down to £189 I think for up to 1mg. I'm not sure how expensive it had gone to, but I was on a fixed price of £225 because I had stuck around during the shortages. They are also saying they will have mounjaro from the 1st MArch. Is anyone else considering?
