Chemist 4 U has reduced their prices. I've just completed the consultation for 1.7ml, which I thought I was going to have to pay between 250-300 for, it was 224.

Mookie81 · 15/02/2024 11:06

I'm struggling to drink enough. Think it's due to loss of appetite but need to keep sipping as its definitely contributing to my constipation.

amusedbush · 15/02/2024 12:22

FlopFlaps · 15/02/2024 11:00

Has anyone had an email to say juniper are reducing the price? So happy! It's going back down to £189 I think for up to 1mg. I'm not sure how expensive it had gone to, but I was on a fixed price of £225 because I had stuck around during the shortages. They are also saying they will have mounjaro from the 1st MArch. Is anyone else considering?

I am very interested in Mounjaro. It's both a GIP and GLP-1 medication so apparently it's even more effective than Wegovy, and the weight lost in clinical trials reflect that.

I have two months of 2.4mg in my fridge but I'm going to contact Pharmacy2U to ask about the possibility of swapping straight to 12.5 or 15mg of Mounjaro.

flouncymcflouncerson · 15/02/2024 15:18

I’m delineated in trying mounjaro but keen for the best price too. I’ve been reduced down to 0.25 which is a bit frustrating but hoping all goes well and I can continue losing. I haven’t really lost anything since end of October and that was on the higher dose so maybe my body needed the reset.

SofieM0 · 15/02/2024 18:29

@amusedbushsame, I’ve been researching lots and very interested. I am still on 1.7 - got another 4 weeks and then 2.4. Should have moved up to 2.4 already as 1.7 about warn off now but too late! Will definitely be considering Mounjaro to follow. Let us know how you get on with regards to what does they will let you start on and if it’s a 4 week gap between both. I may also swap and not bother with 2.4.

Disappointedsofa · 16/02/2024 16:03

Just wanted to update on my progress. I started Wegovy mid September last year , I was 11 stone. I'm now 9 stone 5. My trousers and jeans are starting to hang on me to the point I might need to buy smaller sizes in them.
I'm on my final week of my final pen, 2.4mg. I don't think I'm going to buy another pen which I'm happy about as it's so expensive!
I couldn't have done it without Wegovy, it just literally stunted my appetite. I definitely did plateau for a month here and there. So 5 months and I'm down 23 pounds. I'm a bit worried about my appetite coming back once I'm off it as that how I got bigger in the first place but I will really try and monitor it.
I've tried everything else going and Wegovy is the only thing that ever worked.

Striving4Better · 19/02/2024 08:51

Took my sixth shot of 0.25 last night. Have decided Sunday evening is best time.

Lost 0.8lb this week. Waist measurement initially dropped, but has been the same for three weeks.

So I'm still losing on the low dose which is good, but I've not been too well which is not so good. However, migraine and feeling queasy is something I've had a lot over this past year, so highly likely it's not Wegovy-related. It's annoying because in January when I started, I was feeling so much better.

Had a bit of a wobble and wondered if I should consider getting the drugs out of my system and just trying to lose weight the traditional way. Maybe I'd feel better without it? But then I looked at my body shape, thought about my future health and realised I have not really had any cravings since I started. At least, I'm off the crisps and chocolate. So I will continue. Losing slowly, it will probably take me a year.

I know I'm overdue going up to 0.5, but was still losing, so I'm eeking it out. When I make the move, I'm going to split the difference, so counting clicks to 0.37.

Meadowdog · 19/02/2024 16:39

Congratulations @Disappointedsofa ! I'd be really interested to hear how you get on with maintaining your loss once you're off the Wegovy if you could please come along and update us from time to time?

spamm · 20/02/2024 02:48

That's great - @Disappointedsofa - an impressive loss.

I was discussing with my Dr about the long term, IF I am successful in losing weight and getting healthier. She wants me to focus on the near term, but she said that she thinks these drugs will be easier to obtain and that we will be able to have maintenance doses - taking smaller amounts more widely spread apart.

I got a bit emotional about the fact that I have been overweight for most of my life and struggling with T2 diabetes for years and she said we would figure it out. I know she is very pleased that I am showing determination to tackle things (with help) and I do believe she wants to help me, but the after does feel like a challenge.

SofieM0 · 20/02/2024 06:11

No loss again for me this week - 2 weeks in a row but I have had that before. It was week 4 on 1.7. Should have gone up to 2.4 but I had already ordered 1.7 (which is also late - boots having supply issues again!). When I get it today or tomorrow I think I’m going to split it into 3 if I can find the dosage chart and do 2.2 ish…I have spare needles. Then if that works order 2.4 or go straight onto Mounjaro. Anyone else swapped over yet?

I believe you're not allowed to go straight onto mounjano- have to let wegovy get out your system.

Flatleak · 20/02/2024 09:02

@Flatleak yes most places advise a 4 week washout but others say no break is needed. Seems to vary from pharmacy and country. I just meant I will move over to that rather than go on official Wegovy 2.4. Wether a break is recommended by pharmacist I think I’ll take one anyway.

amusedbush · 20/02/2024 12:02

I still intend to switch to Mounjaro but the conflicting guidelines and advice are stressing me out too much to give it proper headspace. From what I have seen on Reddit, there are loads of people in the US who have been switched between Saxenda/Wegovy/Mounjaro straight onto the closest equivalent dose without a break or re-starting titration. If UK prescribers insist on a break before switching, I’ll just have to stay on Wegovy until after my Japan trip. We fly out in 12 weeks and I don't want to jeopardise the progress I have made up to now.

Also, here is a belated week 15 update: I took my first dose of 2.4mg on Friday morning and, surprisingly, I’ve had zero negative side effects. However, I can’t say I feel drastically more appetite suppression compared to 1.7mg, either. Ho hum.

I have now lost 39.6lbs and I’m 11st 13.6lbs, which is a weight I haven’t seen in adulthood. In fact, the last time I was 11-something on the scales was 2003, when I was 13 years old. This morning I noticed that my coat is suddenly hanging off me, and 15 weeks ago it wouldn't even zip up 😳

DontUseYourNose · 20/02/2024 12:06

I'm on my 6th week of ozempic and I'm still on 0.25 due to the horrendous side effects (near constant migraine-level headaches). This week I split the dose and injected my leg instead of tummy and it helped enormously with headaches but also had a far lower impact on my appetite but I think it did help somewhat. I've lost 2lbs somehow in the last week or two so I'll take that.

Anyway I will be splitting the dose again this week and seeing about maybe injecting 0.35 in total rather than 0.5 because of the fear of headaches. My doctor and pharmacist will be wondering what the hell I'm doing but hopefully it'll work out for me.

CoolShoeshine · 20/02/2024 14:54

Can I ask if you all tend to stick with the same provider each month or if you shop around to see if there are offers or better prices on other websites? I purchased .25 from Well Pharmacy as lots of sites were out of stock but they don’t seem the cheapest so I’m wondering if I should order my .5 dose now from somewhere else?

SofieM0 · 20/02/2024 16:22

@amusedbush you're doing so well. I am going to do x3 2.2mg as my 1.7mg is just not working and I have had minimal negative side effects so need to jump up. I’ll see how that goes and then maybe do 4 weeks of 2.4mg.

Spoke to pharmacist at Boots today and she said there’s no contraindications between semaglutide and tirzepatide so lots of companies are not requiring or even saying to take a 4 week break - much like the US. Boots however are as it’s in their guidelines but there’s no reason why, so she said other than over cautiousness. She herself is on Wegovy - which is why I went with boots as my supplier but she’s going elsewhere for Mounjaro for cost and because she isn’t doing the 4 week washout as she also says she doesn’t want to step backwards. Lots to think on!

@CoolShoeshine i have always stayed with boots as I don’t think other pharmacies will prescribe a higher dose without lots of evidence and I couldn’t be bothered with that. Unless you have prescription already and just looking for supplier. I’ve always done both with same pharmacy.

Striving4Better · 20/02/2024 18:31

@CoolShoeshine I've switched twice due to stock issues and was ok. I'm now staying put because the pharmacy I'm with now are near cheapest. It's less faff with regarding going through the whole consultation malarkey again. Plus, I'm knocking on BMI 30 now (yay!) and didn't want to have to produce photos (not all places will ask for them).

Mookie81 · 20/02/2024 23:08

Done 2 rounds of 1ml and wished I'd moved up sooner. Small loss with 2nd round and food noise huge.
First 1.7ml this Saturday.

rosiebutterfly · 22/02/2024 22:25

Did anyone see a big difference going from 0.5 to 1? I’ve been on 0.5 for the month now and I’ve lost two pounds in two months, it’s confusing me a little as I really don’t eat anywhere near what I used to, I’m drinking alot less wine aswell - feeling deflated again especially reading so many people who have lost great amounts even on the smaller doses, although I feel more tired so maybe I’m being less active than I used to - no clue what’s going on really hoping 1mg starts to shift something when it arrives

I had great losses on the smaller doses but looking at the numbers alone doesn't provide any context. I had little to no appetite suppression on 0.25 or 0.5, so I was HUNGRY. I only lost weight because I white-knuckled through a calorie deficit, trusting that I wouldn't feel like that forever and praying every night that the Wegovy would kick in the next day.

I felt significant appetite suppression for the first time on 1mg so hopefully you'll feel the same when you move up. Unfortunately the medication doesn't cause weight loss, it just makes it easier to eat less. Activity levels also make very little difference to weight; it all comes down to food so if you're not losing weight, you're still eating too much.

Are you tracking your calories? It's not always necessary for weight loss but it will give you an idea of where extra calories might be sneaking in.

Yes tracking calories I do 1400-1800 a day, but I don’t sleep well if I do 1400/1500 I think I need to be more patient as I have never been able to lose weight easily I basically have to starve myself to get any sort of weight loss

amusedbush · 23/02/2024 12:03

This morning was my week 16 weigh in and I'm down 41.6lbs. I am just 15lbs away from a healthy BMI, though I'm realistically looking at about 30lbs to go as my body fat % is still pretty high. That figure may be skewed by my lipoedema though (I have disproportionate amounts of fat stored in my thighs and upper arms, which can only be reduced through surgical intervention), so I'll just keep going until I'm happy with what I see in the mirror.

My first week on 2.4mg surprised me, especially considering how rough I felt when I moved up to 1.7mg. Apart from a slightly dodgy stomach last weekend, I haven't had any negative side effects.

I was a bit disappointed that I didn't notice increased appetite suppression but while it may not feel stronger, I found the effects of 2.4 to be longer lasting. Even 1.7 would wear off after five days but this week, I felt noticeably less hungry than normal on Wednesday and Thursday.

Yeah, patience is definitely key. I was eating 1600 a day for the first few weeks but as the medication kicked in, my calories naturally reduced as I was no longer ravenous all the time.

The only reason I pushed through is because we had just booked my dream holiday and I knew I'd reached do-or-die time to lose a significant amount of weight. If I had started Wegovy without any sort of deadline, I definitely wouldn't have been so hard on myself at the beginning.

Mookie81 · 24/02/2024 12:33

Lost 3 pds this week, took 1st lot of 1.7ml this morning.
Now 4 pds away from 2 stone loss.

C0ffeecup · 25/02/2024 19:06

Took my 1st lot of 1mg today. So far pleased with my progress. I’m not exercising like I was for the first few weeks. Diet is still pretty good and food noise has been non existent except for the late part of last week- hoping the 1mg will see to that.

Really the only side effect is that I’ve been super tired! Some headaches but that could be down to hydration not being sufficient.
